Did not rush me was very polite and professional. 1st review: 4 weeks ago: Melissa was professional and solution minded. She offered for me to come down and let them see if they could do a small fix for free when other optometry offices wouldn't. When I arrived I was greeted warmly and they helped me right away. State Street Optometry is a full-service optometry clinic located in Redlands, California. I love how you can park your car, right in front of the business, on State Street. I will travel long distances to find an optometrist(s) who can make it as easy as possible for me to get glasses or contact lenses. In terms of getting to know these opticians, it's not uncommon for it to take a few visits to a new optometry clinic to feel comfortable with the staff. I've come to this office several times in order to make changes here and there to contact lens prescriptions. It seems they are still in the process of staffing their office. I saw a couple of new people I've never seen before the last time I was there. My new glasses are currently in the process and there is much more than needs to be done with them before they are perfect. DRAMA, SCARE TACTICS, GUILT TRIPS, EXCESSIVE WAIT TIMES, & TOTAL LACK OF GRACE & PROFESSIONALISM! The most important thing to know about this business is that these people won't go the extra mile for their customers. Yes, they do dispense contact lenses, but you should be aware that you can buy the exact same contacts online without a prescription, and for half of what they charge. I just ordered two boxes of contacts online, I paid $20 for expedited shipping, and I still paid less than what they charge. Let's not kid ourselves. State Street Optometry is all about the buck. Their eye exams are an ordeal and go on for a full hour, which is twice the time that a normal eye exam should take, because they spend so much time boasting about their state of the art equipment and their abilities, and offering to run all kinds of tests that you really don't need. They even resort to using scare tactics to try to convince you to pay for those exams that insurance won't cover. They also guilt trip you like crazy and use every scare tactic in the book if you can't make it in every year like clockwork for your annual exam. Oh. And if you do decide to make an appointment there, you should be aware of the fact that they are backed up for six to eight weeks in advance. Allowing their office to become so grievously understaffed seems to indicate a major lack of management skills, right? At the very least, it's just one more sign of their lack of professionalism. No one should have to wait that long for an eye exam. When I balked at the seven-week wait time for an appointment and explained that I was down to my last contact, their very friendly receptionist agreed to provide a spare for me as a precaution, to sustain me until they could get me in for a new exam, but her co-worker Sylvia subsequently came on the line and bad-mouthed her co-worker, basically calling the friendly girl an incompetent, and she refused to allow me a spare set, even though I had assured her that I would pay for it and pick it up myself. The bad-mouthing between the two co-workers and their obvious competitive in-fighting was such a turn-off and so unprofessional. After much texting, Sylvia finally agreed to give me an immediate appointment, but not until I had mentioned the possibility of placing a very honest review on Yelp, which of course they would never want. And by that time, I had already ordered new contacts online anyway and no longer really needed the appointment. It would've been nice of course to have a current up-to-the-minute prescription, but it seems that isn't always a possibility, at least not when you are forced to deal with this particular office and their particular brand of rampant unprofessionalism. So do yourself a favor and skip the drama and the lack of professionalism and the scare tactics and the guilt trips and the excessive waiting times that plague this office. There are plenty of other friendlier and more professional optometry offices in town. The only thing that State Street Optometry really has going for it is its convenient location on State Street across from Wells Fargo Bank with its large parking lot, and I will gladly give them one star for that! read more

I was a bit anxious because it had been a few years since I've gone to an eye doctor to do a proper exam but Dr. Wu was so patient and amazing. He answered all my questions and gave me great tips on what I can do to help my vision. 10/10 would recommend this place and I will definitely be coming back here to do my routine exams. read more

This might be the best optometrist office I've ever been to. Scheduling here was very easy and I was booked a couple of months out originally but asked to be on a cancellation list. I was one of the lucky ones to get seen a lot sooner being on that list, thankfully. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, I experienced quality care. Everyone here was very professional, kind and knowledgeable. I loved the variety of glasses and sunglasses options. I came with my friend because she wanted some support to help her find new glasses. As we left, she asked the front office to provide her with her pupillary distance measurement. The lady stated there would be a charge for this measurement, even though it should be provided with any prescription. I thought it was really ridiculous because I have NEVER heard of an optometry office charging for a PD measurement!!! RIDICULOUS! read more

HORRIBLE !!!!!! experience... Had a appointment with DAVID SABBAH.. I had a problem with understanding his accent when he was explaining to me processes to my eye with cataract. I did not understand the details what he was trying to tell me. He started to get impatient so I said don't take offense to this but your accent and the your phrasing is confusing me. He explained he did not take offense all fine. I still could not grasp his concept. He started behaving unfriendly impatient and said it's because he's not telling me what I want to hear that's why there's confusion.. I didn't appreciate that comment and told him that is unprofessional and and can't believe he said that to me. He proceeded to say he did take offense to my racist comment to him justified his actions. Was not racist......I am not racist do not appreciate a comment also upset. I then asked for a owners name and number he said he was a owner. There's Dr woo also. I'm not exaggerating.. Someone help me to understand. I am the customer. Customer comes first. Even if he thought that. Even after explaining to him beforehand. I believe he prideful and arrogant then proceeded to tell me he graduated from Berkeley and was going in that direction. Had enough walked out never will go back. Even if your a co owner customer service and patience is priority. Set your pride and sensitivity aside. I told him you should be ashamed of yourself. Lol. NEVER HAD AN EXPLIKE THAT. How many other customers has he been that way with or will be in the future??? BAD FOR BUSINESS. Also could be a liability if was documented by recorded or documented. I've been going to the optometrist my whole life. I've never had such a good experience as coming to State Street Optometry. First off. I had some new eye tests that I haven't had before. Dr. Wu gave me a great eye exam and took the time to give me options, explain, and make sure that I was completely satisfied. I'm of a certain age whereby my close up sight isn't so good. I need reading glasses to set up close. Dr. Wu offered me multi-focal contact lenses. He ordered a sample and had me come back to try them on. Total game-changer. I can see far, and I can see near without reading glasses. Throw in a modern nice office with friendly helpful staff and you can't go wrong with Dr. Wu. read more

I was referred to State Street Optometry, and I'm glad I went. I had my eyes checked and bought a pair of prescription Spyder glasses here and was overall pleased with the experience. It was a very relaxed, no pressure environment. They have some cool technology and explain everything that's going on. They took scans and measurements and readings and a bunch of stuff I've never had done before, but made sure I understood what was covered, what wasn't, what the limits were, and what was going on the whole time. Best optometry experience I have had. I felt very safe in this office as the staff took every step to clean and sanitize machines, frames, and pens. Dr. Wu was absolutely wonderful. In the past, I have always felt rushed with other optometrists whose only objective was to get you out the door with a prescription as quickly as possible. Overall they are amazing! Very thorough exam, and very professional and informative. The front office staff is amazing. The only problem I had (which is my bad for not checking) is the price of my frames. I really loved them and I hadn't heard of the designer, so as soon as I got home I googled the name of the designer and saw my glasses. Which was when I realized they marked up my frames over 100% mark up! I was really disappointed. Disappointed because I loved the staff. But that mark up is going a bit too far. Probably won't be back, for this reason. I have excellent insurance, and was ready to make appointments for my entire family. But their lack of integrity, lost our business. read more

Wow! My prescription has never been so accurate! One of the problems of getting older is that it gets so hard to have good near vision and good far vision simultaneously. Both my husband and I have our best prescriptions ever from Dr. Wu, who invites questions and is unbelievably knowledgeable about a wide range of eye concerns besides the prescription (dry eyes, bletharitis, whether LASIK would be a good idea or a risk for complications). Also, the staff are super-friendly and helpful, and familiar with different insurance plans and special offers (I ended up getting two pairs of glasses for less than it would have cost to get one -- one regular progressive set, and one specifically to reduce eye strain for computer work). I was also impressed that Dr Wu has the most cutting-edge technology for imaging the retina (not just picture, But CT scanning) so that I know my eyes are remaining healthy, and any problems in the future can be caught early. Finally, the selection of frames is very high-quality. It's hard to find a frame that's attractive on my face, and I found several! We are very happy and will continue to go back! read more
