I love this group as it is the only place I could find frameless light weight glasses. I have gotten several pairs as well as several pairs of reading glasses. Today I took my favorite reading glasses in to see if they could repair the nose piece or reproduce the exact prescription. I was greeted by friendly people at the front desk who looked at my glasses and with a smile said we can fix this in a flash. They did and bonus, didn't charge me because I was a returning customer. I was willing to pay whatever and I am so appreciative that my favorite glasses are as good as new. read more

This establishment must be doing exceptionally well, as they clearly aren't in need of new customers. I called to verify my insurance today at 3:48 PM as this business was listed as an in-network provider on my benefits page. Unfortunately, the receptionist was dismissive and unprofessional. Rather than offering to verify my coverage or asking for a Member ID, she repeatedly insisted she had never heard of my carrier and told me I didn't appear in the patient portal. If this is how they treat potential clients, I'll be taking my business to a practice that values basic customer service. read more

My experience started off on the wrong foot when I received a tense message the day before my appointment saying my insurance info was needed by 5:30 pm or my appointment would be cancelled (I had provided it two weeks prior when I made my appointment. And what if I were paying cash?) From the way my name was mispronounced several times, I think the error was on their part and my name was perhaps taken down incorrectly. There are far more polite ways to verify insurance. When I called them a clearly harried woman put me on hold for so long I decided to call back-I was then hung up on. I finally managed to get through and diffuse the urgency they had created themselves. When I arrived for my appointment, I was given the biggest stack of papers to read through and initial that I've ever encountered. A combination of what appeared to be add on procedures that may or may not be covered by insurance, and pretty much an itemized list of detailed procedures I was to initial so that I'd pay if my insurance didn't cover. There was something strange about not purchasing contacts or lenses from them that they wanted me to sign off on that I've never encountered before. This made me uncomfortable because I only want the exam my insurance covers, am free to take my prescription elsewhere, and don't want hidden extra charges. At this point I wasn't even interested in clarification. Since this approach is not for me, I happily paid the $40 cancellation penalty just so I could go on my way and not have to read through their migraine-inducing minutiae of conditions. The customer service has gone down to nothing since Mr. Ben's left; they are not friendly anymore. I have been with them about 15 years, I am pretty sure that I won't be returning ever again since I have been treated badly recently; every time I walked in saw new faces whom has either no knowledge or staff has bad attitude (got off wrong side of bed) just ready to yell at you. If they don't like to work there they don't really have to, safe those spots for others who like this kinda jobs and will help patients with love. Horrible customer service. We got glasses for my son and they immediately bent. They told us that my son must had fallen asleep with them on but they would replace them this one time. They replaced the glasses and they immediately bent again when they put the lense in. Then they told us it's because the lense is too thick for those glasses and next time not to pick those type of frames but there's nothing else they can do. Also, on a couple of visits the doctor has given us information about the vision exam and then tells us they had the wrong information entered, it's been a few times. read more

My dislike for this business hinges on many factors. Unfortunately for the young lady that worked there last year, and was terminated because she gave me a First Responder discount that she was apparently not authorized to give, is when things began to go off the rails dealing with this business. I'd been meaning to write this review for quite some time and was recently reminded via text that it's time for a new exam from Redlands Optometry Group. Yeah. Not happening. After the incident last year of the firing the gal who helped me, and subsequent rudeness they projected toward me because I was given a discount, neither myself or my wife will return. Pretty sure it was Darlene, the owner who was very abrasive, bordering a real smart ass when I went back to discuss things about my eye glasses that were explained to me when I purchased them, that hadn't been fulfilled. No biggy. Mistakes happen but this lady really doesn't like her customers much, and her corse demeanor reflects that when dealing with her. They also like to tell you that they'll call when your new glasses come in. Yeah. Sit around and hold your breath for that. They didn't call me and didn't call my wife which forced both of us to do follow up calls and in each case the response from the receptionist was, " oh those came in a week ago". Just too much nonsense with this place and not to say they are way more expensive than many other places. Which would be ok if they gave you service with a smile and were pleasant to deal with. I rarely write reviews, nonetheless bad ones. However, I have been a longtime customer at the Redlands Optometrist. I have no critiques on the eye doctors here, however, all if not most of the front desk has an attitude. Even in person, their tone and demeanor comes across inattentive/annoyed. I cannot stress enough how difficult it can be speaking with some of the employees. They'd intentionally make you feel slow when asking questions about important details; especially since I come from an immigrant background, some phrasings can be more difficult to understand. They were not understanding of us asking questions at all, and even began to be annoyed/raise their voice at us for "asking the same questions" when we were having issues with understanding. Not coming here again. Front desk aid (Kassy? I believe) should not be allowed to represent this establishment as everyone else was kind in the past (especially the eye doctors). read more

Examination process was lazy. While browsing for frames, staff was largely absent forcing me to walk around the office to find help. Staff was not very informative or forthright with information. When it came to exam results, paperwork, and receipts, I had to verbally request almost everything. Be aware, unlike other optometrists I've been to, this office has a NO RETURN POLICY. BEWARE!! BEWARE!!!After seeing the doctor, I picked out frames and lenses. When I received my pair of glasses, I could not read with them. (I use high end progressive lenses) So I went back to Redlands Optometry group, and told them that I could not read out of them. They checked measurements and found out they were incorrect. They also change the power and went higher on the reading area. They were sent back to their lab to have them redone. I waited five weeks before I got my glasses back, so I was very unhappy with that. When I received them, I still cannot see out of the bottom to read,so I went back to the office and told them I could not read out of them. They said sorry we only do one remake. I'm thinking to myself, but it was your mistake so I told them that. They still said we only do one remake. I used to be an optician so I know about lenses. I found out they put the wrong manufacture lenses in my frame. At the time I ordered them, I pacifically told them what I wanted. Well I did not get the high-end progressive lens that I asked for., that's why I couldn't read with them. So there has been a mistake at their end again and they would not remake my glasses as they said they only remake one time. So beware if they make a mistake, they will not remake your lenses more than one time even and when it's their fault. So now I have a pair of glasses I cannot use. Also Im out money I spent on them. I have been going to Redlands Optometry Group for years. How many years? I don't even know, that's how long it's been. I don't have a single complaint. I've never had to wait more than probably five minutes for my appointment. When they say my glasses are going to be ready in two weeks, it's typically less than that. The staff is kind and professional, and my exams are thorough. I noticed a note taped to the counter when I was there this week and it stated that any clients that yelled, swore, acted in disrespect towards any of the staff, would be escorted out and would not be able to return. I have been a long time patient of the office going back to when it was at the previous location. This office has gone crashing down and Dr.Matejka doesn't care who she hires in that office. To have employees who smell like smoke and chew like cows is a shame. The optician carried a very heavy odor and when she was assisting myself and others she was eating and smacking her lips. This generation knows nothing about manners. My sister in law had an encounter with the manager Tammy months ago. The manager felt the need to express that Dr.Matejka is her sister in law so basically anything she says goes. The audacity for that woman to feel entitled to a job is crazy. She was speaking very loudly to staff behind the wall as if my sister in law could not hear. You should not mix family and business. Not having to mention she also carried a strong odor as well... clearly does not wear deodorant. It's like walking into a junk yard, unpleasant odors from staff and very poor manners. I have never in my life had to write such an embarrassing review. I will take my business elsewhere instead of a dirty office. Dr.Heather is very pleasant and informative. I have been a patient at Redland Optometry group for several years and very much enjoyed my service until recently. I ordered new glasses and the person handling my order asked if I wanted to keep my old lenses and I said yes...just in case I did not like using glasses full time and wanted to get additional reading glasses. This ended up being the case as I just could not get used to my new glasses. At this point I realized I was never given my old lenses when I got my new glasses so I called into see if I could get new frames with the old lenses. After calling in several times and being left on hold for over 30 minutes (explains my story to 3 different people) I was told the lenses were thrown out. I was rather confused by this and explained that I requested these lenses and was basically told: "99% of people don't want the old lenses so its not our issue if you did not take them when you picked up your new glasses." This may all be true, although I find this number to be very suspicious, but it was the total lack of concern or sympathy that was very off-putting. I will find another place in the future as this type of treatment is not something I think patients deserve. read more

The office is extremely clean and pleasant to walk into, and there is an array of various designer frames provided for ones selection. Dr. Faith Enfield, my assigned doctor, was extremely patient during my visit, as she answered all questions I posed; this is so important to me. Had problems with a new pair of glasses that I bought elsewhere. My glasses were adjusted incorrectly and it was painful to wear them. I found this optometry on Yelp and decided to give them a call. Asked if they'd be able to help adjust my glasses and I offered to pay if necessary. The girl who answered was very nice and said I can come in and they'd adjust it for free. The man who adjusted my glasses was nice and efficient. I appreciated how they just helped so willingly. Overall, had a great experience & they have definitely won me as a future patient! read more

Not pleased with this office. It felt so unorganized and they're very pushy sales people! I felt extremely uncomfortable here. They make you come for two visits (weeks apart) just to get one contact prescription that only lasts a year. To my knowledge prescriptions have always been good for two years. They make you come back for a "contact fitting" every time on top of the regular check. Even to people that have been wearing contacts for 10+ years. They are very pushy that you buy contacts from them as well. When I finally got my prescription my name isn't even spelled remotely close to what it is. So the prescription isn't even valid. I will not be returning here and wouldn't advise anyone else to. read more

Redlands Optometry Group was very thorough in sanitizing and safety! We had to text and confirm we were there before walking in, and a staff member came to get us. Before we came in our temperature was screened and we were given a COVID questionnaire. All staff was wearing masks and patients were required to wear them. Frames were sanitized after we tried them on. I felt very safe! I also was able to see the doctor quickly. I waited only about 5 minutes. The whole exam was only about 15 minutes. He did a great job explaining my prescription and was patient during the exam. The staff was kind and patient as well as we shopped for frames. Overall, we had a great experience! read more

So my daughter's eye glass frames broke didn't last 6 months so we had the business order new frames so that took forever so my daughter came all the way from San Diego area as they were switching out lenses they cracked. This is the most unprofessional place in Redlands. I had an appointment last week which they called to cancel and they rescheduled for this week. The manager specifically said that she would send a reminder text. I called this morning to see when my appointment would be and was told that it was yesterday. Also, the $40 deposit that I gave was forfeited. Did I receive a text? Nope. And the receptionist said that sending a text was a courtesy and I should've written it down myself. What do they think I am? An imbecile? Do I have money to just give away? I hope that anyone reading this will think long and had before they schedule with this group. The staff is professional, whenever there is a new doctor they always seem to read my file before they see me. The office is always clean, organized and efficient. I've been a patient here for a few years and all the doctors and staff are very nice, however I'm not sure if it's management or the way things are run but nothing is ever easy with them as far as phone calls, paper work, emails, getting product etc. for example I asked if I could get my prescription emailed to me while I was out running errands (and trying to pickup contacts) and I guess there is only ONE specific person who can send the email and they were not in! We have been going here for years and never had this experience, but there is completely new staff. They mixed up our appointments and wouldn't take us even though we were already on our way there and down the street. They mixed up the times they originally gave us. Then they proceeded to comment on my review and say I called them to say I "was running late and asked if they could squeeze me in" Absolutely not what happened and the fact that you made up a lie is terrible and very unprofessional. I had been a patient of this group for about 5 years. Always great friendly service. I recently moved from Redlands to Big Bear Lake. I told the staff that I would be coming from Big Bear Lake and that I needed an Eye exam and new glasses. The UV coating was coming off the lenses and it was getting quite blurry. I was told that Dr. Matejka was not available and I would be seeing another doctor. That was fine. I was given a 5pm appointment. I had other errands in Redlands that were cancelled, so I called at 1:30pm to see if they had any cancellations for an earlier time. I was told that they were booked and to please come at 5pm. I arrived just before 5pm. The receptionist checked me in and told me to start looking at new glasses frames. I said I wanted something close to what I currently have. She said she would be glad to help me in a few minutes. As I was looking at the various options, I was called back for my exam. The young staff member started with various equipment to do preliminary examinations. This took approximately 10 minutes. I was then taken back to another exam room where I was to be seen by Dr. Price. I waited 40 minutes for the doctor to come in. He apologized for the delay. We proceeded with my eye history and the following normal eye exam. When finished, he said to go up front. I told him I still needed to pick out the frames. As I entered the display room, a staff member told me they were closed and I would have to come back another time!! I said, "What"? I was down here from Big Bear Lake. An hour and 20 minutes away! I can't come back tomorrow. She said it was the doctors fault for taking too long. I said I need to get a frame and order my glasses. She said no one is willing to stay. I said I need to get these now. She proceeded to turn the lights off! I have never in my 60 years of wearing glasses, been denied buying my glasses after an examination! I said I was sitting for 40 minutes waiting and I could of used that time to look at frames. She said I must leave. I said I want my prescription and I won't be coming back to this office. The attitude was, that's fine with us! I said I will contact the owner. There was no caring at all. The following day, in Big Bear Lake, I arrived at my "new" Eye doctor and optical shop and spent $400 on new frames and lenses. My family, wife and 2 children have been going to this place for seven years now. I love this place and have recommended it to my friends and family. Sadly, this will be the last time i will enter this business and will bring my business somewhere else. I 've work in the ER for 20 years and have never treated any of my patients the way i was treated at this place. Front desk was very rude, confrontational, dismissive and kept talking over me and would not listen at any of my questions.. when i asked for her name.. she hanged up.. My wife called several times just to get her name and and was put in hold and never answered back.. Appalling customer service from the front desk. Certainly, i will bring my business somewhere else. I have been going to Redlands Optometry over 2o + years and first time ever disappointed in them. Try to make an appointment because I had an emergency situation with my right eye and I was told for an emergency situation that the insurance would not be covered that I would have to pay out of my pocket in order to see them for an emergency situation. Is this sad or what what's this world coming to. If I went to the emergency my insurance would pay for that that doesn't make no sense to me. The sad thing even at that I told her I will start looking for somewhere else to go and she said you can do that okay thank you and have a nice day.
