With my long time optometrist suddenly retiring over the holiday season last year and closing his practice, I needed to find a replacement to fill this void. I remembered Target Optical from another lifetime and the poor experience from this location 10 years ago that drove me to finding and staying with my now retired optometrist for all this time. With so much time passing, I gave it another chance. And I'm glad I did. My first visit back included me and my oldest child. The pros and cons - Pros: - Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very efficient as well to make your visit flow smoothly and timely. - Generous business hours. This location (and probably all other Target Optical locations too) caters to families with children and working individuals who need more generous hours. My retired optometrist's office catered to elderly, retired folks (opened 4 days a week 8:30am-4pm). Obviously, I was able to make it work for all these years but not everyone can. - Very fast exams. They schedule exams in 20 minute increments and I wasn't sure how thorough these fast exams would go. It turned out fine. The exams hit on everything needed and there was time to ask questions, share concerns, socialize, etc. - Large selections of eyeglasses. This is a small but mighty office. I was impressed with the variety of eyeglass frames offered. And I especially appreciate that they have their own Target brands of eyeglass frames for those who want/need something as affordable as possible. Cons: - Small physical space. It can't be helped as this is inside a Target store and only so much space can be allotted. I know that small spaces can bother some folks so I wanted to point this out. - Very fast exams. This was a Pro for me personally but this can definitely be a Con for someone else. If you are someone who has a large number of concerns and do want the extra time - a smaller, independently owned office may be a better fit. - Mismatching business information between website and physical location. The hours of operations are WRONG on the Target website. The website showed that there were opened on Sundays only to find out they were not opened when we went in to pick up my child's new glasses. I will be submitting changes to Yelp to reflect the hours posted at the physical location. Also, the website had a wrong phone number to this location somehow. The phone number shown on Yelp is correct. I'm happy to return as a regular client and would recommend this to my other family members and friends. read more

TERRIBLE PRACTICE!!! Did not provide up front transparency of $25 fee that's NOT covered by insurance for retinal imaging. I was charged the $10 copay for my daughter and I along with the $25/each. A $20 visit ended up being $70 with absolutely no mention up front or at checkout, just the associate stating that they ran my insurance and this is what I owed. What a bait and switch scam!!! Went back to America's Best because this location had the prescription results WRONG!! NEVER go here!!! read more

The optician was so helpful and showed me all that was covered on my insurance. The fitting of the frames was so state of the art. The cost of frames are so reasonable and beautiful selection. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER go to target optical on Lake Pleasant Parkway in Peoria. They do not stand behind their refund-policies, there is no customer service and the optical doctor, Renata Majda was horrible. This doctor at target optical, misdiagnosed my contact lens power and gave me the wrong lens for my eye. I found this out after three months later going to another eye doctor, I found out that the lens the target optical doctor had prescribed for me was not correct and was hurting my eyesight. I explained all of this to Gina, the manager at target optical, and there was nothing she would do for me. All I wanted to do was return the one box of contact lenses and get the correct prescription. My insurance company, Aetna recommended target optical as one of their preferred physicians and places to get my contacts. I will be filing a complaint with Aetna regarding this doctor and also target optical. They just lost a customer. These are daily wear lenses that I have and they are quite expensive over $800 for lens per year. If I could give them zero stars I would. They have lost a customer, and I don't really think they care. read more

Just had my annual eye exam and once again a new doc. Lots of physician turn over, but this doc said he's staying so we will see next year. I really liked the new doc, very kind and explained everything very thoroughly. Didn't talk down to me like other physicians have, which left me feeling comfortable to ask more. My whole family is now seen by him. Love Linda and Jason, they will give it to you straight which I appreciate. And they always do the very best with affordable options. They are very helpful and they even remember you by name. I appreciate their honesty and trust they won't let me leave in a pair that isn't right for me. Especially when the hubby is if no help They have a station dedicated to coloring books and crayons for the kiddos which helps tremendously The store is always clean and Linda and Jason have always been accommodating. I've one in days ahead of my appointment to start the frame selection. For me it can take awhile They have always been helpful in repairing, adjusting or cleaning glasses when I am Target and pop in. read more

Today was the first time I have ever had an eye exam at Target Optical and my experience was amazing! Dr. Castro was so nice and one of the most knowledgeable ophthalmologist's I've been to. Even the woman at the front went above and beyond helping me figure out pricing and the best package deals for me. I would recommend this location & Dr. Castro a hundred times over. Today, December 1, 2022, @ 10:30 am. One girl was working at the front desk, and it was a busy morning. She was getting everyone check-in and answering the phone. I was impressed with how calmly she explained the paperwork she needed us to fill out and how calm remained on the phone with a man I knew was chewing her out. Finally, Frontdesk girl's help arrived. The girl was calm and helpful. I was disappointed when she told me Dr. J Castro had changed his schedule and that I would see Dr. D Nicosia. She offered to reschedule me. I said no, I would see Dr. Nicosia. I was pleasantly surprised, Dr. Nicosia was thorough, and I had a pleasant experience. My hat goes off to you girls today; you did a great job. read more

I broke my glasses last night and when called to see if I could get an appointment today; Jason assured me I would be seen and to bring my glasses in to see if they were salvageable. To my surprise I was blown away by the service, willingness to help and Jason's knowledge of insurance to get me the best deal on glasses and contacts and an emergency frame replacemnt in my 15 years of wearing glasses. read more

Just took the whole family here. Made allotments back to back. Overall a great experience. Dr Alan Luong is very thorough and good with kids. We will definitely be back next year! Linda is astonishing at what she does and has the best morale and customer of anyone I've ever met in retail! She did everything possible to make sure I liked what I was investing in! Thanks to a fellow Yelper, I found my old doctor. Dr. Christopher P Marmo, now located at Welman Eye Center, FYI. Saw Dr. Marmo today and he confirmed my Rx was wrong and that in fact my Rx hasn't changed in 2 years! I'm headed back to Target to speak to the General Mgr to have these lenses fixed for good. I have the correct Rx to provide them. Hopefully I can get these glasses fixed and NEVER have to deal with this guy again! Avoid Dr. Piraino, do yourself a favor and call Dr. Marmo. I was able to get an appointment the following day, and arrived on time, with no waiting. The Optometrist was very nice and personable. She did not try to sell me anything I didn't need as other places have, and I was not pressured to purchase contacts there... although I did. I also got an excellent pair of Ray Ban's for $90.00!! The glasses were promised to me within 2 weeks, but they were ready in 5 days!! They were correct the first time, although they offered to adjust them if I found them to be uncomfortable after getting home. GREAT SERVICE! GREAT PRICES! I'm a customer and have had nothing but problems with the prescription obtained from this office. The staff has been rude at times when calling to address problems and the optometrist has given nothing but generic explanations for why things are still blurry after receiving my prescription contacts. I've spent over $200 at this location and have nothing to show for it except a prescription for blurry contacts. read more
