The doctor here was great! He was thorough and quick with his exam and seemed very knowledgeable about any questions I had regarding my prescription or pains I was feeling in my eye. He's separate from the optical but was telling me about the deals that the optics would provide if I showed them I got my exam done from him and also told me how to get them to price match any other deals I saw. I felt like he was looking out for my best interest and not just looking to take my insurance money like some other doctors do. I'm not interested in the doctor being my friend- rather I evaluate them based on competence and professionalism. He helped me to see clearer than before and have less migraines. I've also gone to him for emergency eye pains and he was able to quickly diagnose and treat me then too. I expect the more of a happy friendliness from the sales side and that would be the actual target optical.The optical manager Stephanie is very nice and and also super at her job. I had some issues with my eyes recently and came in for an eye exam. The optometrist was very knowledgeable about what may be happening to my eyes and gave me a through eye exam. After the initial exam, my prescription was still uncertain and he suggested we dilate to examine further. After waiting for my eyes to dilate and rechecking my eyes, he told me that my prescription had changed but suggested that I come back for a check up in a couple of weeks so see if they stabilize back to my old prescription since I had been going through a lot of stress at work and have been staring at screens recently. He said that I had up to 90 days to come back if anything changes or I am uncomfortable with my prescription in any way. He was very helpful to my need and I will definitely go back in a few weeks for my follow up. He also suggested I go visit the optical center inside of Target if I was in the market to update my glasses and Stephanie was a tremendous help. She took her time and helped look up my insurance plan and explained all of the options I had with my benefits. This location has two great resources for eye care and I will continue to go here in the future. read more

Was referred here by the optometrist next door. Friendly service and really welcoming. They helped me pick out a pair of eyeglasses without being pushy, mitigating all shopping woes. I was in and out in 10 minutes and they took all kinds of insurance. They promptly alerted me both by phone and email letting me know my glasses were ready. The manager let me know that if I needed any adjustments, she would take care of it immediately. I would definitely recommend. Exceeded expectations. read more

Very disappointed with Dr. Du. It felt very rushed giving me short, smart alec answers. And my prescription only changed a decimal (probably he has to make a change) however my vision has got a lot worse. Sadly have to go to a better doctor because prescription wasn't right. read more

I went to the Target optical store today (oct. 19, 2020). I had the worst experience ever. First, no one wants to go out for a pair of eye glasses unless he has to during this pandemic. I did my research online and find the kind of frame I like, but I do want to try it before I place the order. So I went to the store (the one on New Guinea Rd). The young lady there was chatting on the phone happily. Even though the store is in an open space, but I didn't go in and waited outside. I respect that there may be new policies due to COVID 19. I was the only customer there. Finally, she was off the phone and asked me "what was wrong?" in a very unfriendly tone. She was not the same person on the phone any more. I told her that I need a new pair of glasses. She started to say "you can only touch 5 frames and put them in the ..." in a very bad attitude. She made it very clear that she didn't want me there. I got the message and left immediately. Please don't go there because she didn't want your business and will treat you poorly. I wish I can give negative stars. read more

Great experience and extremely helpful with answering all of my questions and concerns. The optometrist seemed to be a one-man show working through all the steps with me, which I appreciated. I've been recently having issues with my vision being blury at random times. It was great to know that there's a two-week period to test out my new prescription and glasses and if I had any issues, to check back. I believe there is also a longer warranty period that extends to 3 months also, which is great. I also talked to Stephanie in the Optical side to look at some new glasses. She was just as helpful and very thorough with everything as well, answering all of my questions and informing me on how everything would work. All in all, it was a great experience and plan to revisit this location in the future. read more

I bought my glasses here and had my glasses repaired here .. after something unexpectedly impacted them. This wonderful man named Abdi fixed them (perfectly) within a minute and they fit my lopsided head. read more

After seeing the doctor next door, I went to Target's optical center. I asked for glasses and frames. The lady there said my insurance would only cover frames next year. She said I'd have to pay full price out of pocket. I asked if I could see different frames anyway. She kept looking at her watch, though she was only off duty after another 3 hours. I asked about when I could get the glasses if purchased, and she said about 2 weeks, and that LensCrafters might give it sooner. I started browsing the frames on the shelves. When another family came in, the lady opened a door and said there were more frames there. I saw that it said 'women' on the boxes, and asked if I could see these as well. She said she didn't think I'd be interested in them with the style I was wearing, and that they were more for teens. I was upset that she didn't even bother showing me these, though they were clearly labeled 'women. I ended up going to LensCrafters, who did give me a discount on the frame as well, and they had a much better variety of frames and good customer service. read more

I have now paid three visits to Target Optical on Guinea Rd. Stephanie has been friendly and helpful each time. She's taken the time to answer all of my questions regarding lenses for both my daughter and me. She also researched multiple financial avenues (insurance, coupons, etc.) to determine which would be the most cost efficient, and explained thoroughly the differences among each of the lens options. We weren't even buying frames there- just having our lens prescriptions filled with frames we purchased elsewhere. Not once did we feel pressure to buy frames or upgrade, etc. She was straightforward and thorough. I would go there any time, just because of her welcoming and positive attitude. read more

Manager Stephanie at this Target Optical location is exceptional. She is very patient, kind, and knowledgeable. She works really hard to make sure you get the right fit for your vision and style for your face. She goes out of her way to expedite your order and is always helpful. I highly recommend using this Target Optical to fill your Rx given there is a manager such as her to oversee the process. Please keep in mind that the negative reviews on here are actually for Dr. Du, the optometrist located in his own separate office outside of this Target location (i.e., Dr. Du is separate from Target Optical, although both Dr. Du and Target Optical operate under the umbrella of Target). The negative reviews should actually have been posted on his yelp page and not here, whereby it affected the overall rating of Target Optical. Stephanie was very professional and thoughtful in assisting me and my young son in selecting a nice pair of glasses and adjusting the fit so it felt comfortable. She is very good with children. Overall it was a subpar experience. I got the service I was seeking; however the intake process and follow-up could have been much better and handle with a spirit of care. THE GOOD: The young lady who works in the main store location where you purchase your eyeglasses was very welcoming, patient, and kind. She even convinced me to visit the Optometrist for a same day eye exam as he was not fully booked with appointments. Kudos to her! She even made sure my insurance was accepted and was able to quickly go over the benefits of my vision insurance. THE BAD: Cold, unwelcoming office environment. I would have appreciated had The Optometrist walked me through the eye exam process and calmed my nerves a bit. He wasn't mean per se, but he wasn't warm and welcoming either. It was obvious he was just there to do his job and not gain long term patients. I felt judged for not getting an eye exam sooner, and regardless if the criticism was justified at some level, it wasn't warranted, needed, or helpful. Also, he tried to get me to pay for what I would consider extra services, specifically the use of the digital retina device. When I asked what were the benefits of using the device versus completing a comprehensive eye exam (e.g. dilating your eyes the old school way) he stated, "it helps him to avoid having to write down everything and it allows him to store photos of my eyes in case I decide to come back." To be honest, it sounded more like this would be a convenience for him, rather than being beneficial to me; and in the end, I elected not to spend the $29 for the photos, which made him seem annoyed. THE WORST: Lastly, my eye exam felt very rushed. He didn't give my eyes anytime to dilate before starting the exam; and failed to tell me how to care for my eyes after the eye exam. I had to look this information up once I left. In the end, I don't plan to come back and I've already found a new Optometrist in Fairfax who agreed to fulfill my prescription and schedule me for my eye exams/check-ups moving forward. I wish the best to the Optometrists in this location, but I hope the next client is treated with much more care and concern. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I had a similar bad experience with one of the reviewers below. They had a friendly receptionist, but cannot say the same for the office. The Optometrist was not rude, but not welcoming at all. The eye exam lasted at most 15 minutes. It felt rushed, and something just felt off. He told me my vision got a lot worse, and charged me $80 for the eye exam (this is the price without insurance). I took the prescription he gave me and got the frames at another location. After I received my new glasses, I wore it for over a week. I constantly felt cross-eyed and fatigue, and couldn't focus. It made it very difficult for me to perform everyday tasks. I went ahead and paid for another eye exam at the location I got my frames to make sure I had the right prescription, and it turns out my prescription did not change much at all from my old one. The prescription I had received from Dr. Du was wrong...... So the $80, 15 minute eye exam was a complete waste of time and money. Not to mention I wore the wrong prescription for a week... Save yourself the trouble, money, and time. Look for another Optometrist. read more

I went here last year and felt rushed the whole appointment. It did not feel like the doctor was listening to anything I said. I have dry eyes that get even worse with contacts, so I usually get Acuvue Moist contacts. I specifically told the doctor this and he insisted on giving me a different brand to try because he believed they would go in easier. Ok, fine. He also told me that they would work fine with the dry eye issues I was having. They didn't. I only went here because I couldn't get an appointment at my normal optometry. Moved to NOVA recently and ended up at the Fairfax Target for getting one new pair of glasses (distance) and was planning to return another pair (computer glasses) that I had recently got done at another location and that was giving me problems. There were a couple of other customers at the store when I got in, but the optical manager, Stephanie, engaged with us all while supporting a couple ordering new glasses. Though there was a wait, I did not feel unattended. When my time came, she immediately identified the cause of the problem I was having with my new glasses and offered to get them redone as soon as she could. She also helped review all my insurance options and offer great advise on what to get to receive the most benefit. She is very knowledgeable and especially courteous. I would highly recommend this store and once again recognize the friendliness and stellar service provided by Stephanie. read more
