Went to get my driving glasses made. Absolutely loved the experience from start to end. DR Paik was knowledgeable. Their sales/customer service staff r excellent. Sherri was extremely helpful. I brought my existing plastic pair there coz I wanted the same shape but in metal frames. I did not want to spend too much on it as I'm only gonna use it for driving. Sherri went out of her way to help me find one. It's difficult for me to choose coz after a while all the frames start to blend together n look similar...it's a headache choosing frames. I'm so glad Sherri took the time. Went to pick up my glasses today. While changing out the nose pads Sherri scratched the lenses. I wouldn't hv noticed it if she hadn't said anything. She said she'll order a replacement lense for me. I was really impressed with the integrity of the staff here. It's not often that I get to experience excellent customer service. Dr Paik did a recheck of my eyes because of problems with my new prescription. He was patient and willing to listen as well as explain his answers. My first eye appointment was done by a 'substitute' optometrist -- she neglected to tell me the results of one of the eye 'x-rays'. Dr Paik gave me the results and also gave me a recommendation for a clinic that could address the potential problem. Next time, I will ask for Dr Paik from the start. read more

Carol ' the lady at the front counter with blonde hair' makes this place. You can just tell she is a hustler. And I mean that in a good way. She literally runs around the office and tries to make sure you are taken care of 1st then makes sure you are out in a timely manner. Also the optometrist herself (I don't know her name) is very kind and will sit and talk with you if you have any questions. She asked 3 or 4 times if I had any questions about anything before I left. That is a great business practice to have. I really think that Carol lady 'makes' the place. Not the best selection as far as glasses but I always get my contacts in like 3-4 days which is unheard of at other stores. read more

I typically dread my yearly eye exam. Every "traditional"optometrist office I've been to chronically runs late, I spend over an hour waiting to see the doctor who is gone within 5 minutes. This wasn't the case with Dr. Paik. I showed up a couple of minutes early and they were able to take me right away. His tech was cheerful, especially with the young children she saw after me. Dr. Paik himself was very knowledgeable, efficient, and pleasant to talk to. He set me up with a new brand of contacts that were cheaper than the brand I was previously buying through 1-800-Contacts that are designed not to dry out as easily. Saeed helped me order my new contacts and got me a sweet rebate. I was in and out in under twenty minutes, hassle free. read more

My experience with the doctor was great. I came back a few weeks later to pick up some trials that were ordered for me. The customer service was terrible. I waited in line at the front desk while the woman worker assisted a customer once she finished with him, and it was now my turn she completely ignored me as I stood in front of the desk. No hello, No how can help you or I'll be with you in a minute. Nothing! She went and started assisting another customer, although another worker was already sitting and helping that customer. I was just picking something up. Literally a 1 minute transaction. As I stood there be ignored and waiting. I asked if I was standing in the wrong line? She said " I need to finish with this person first" let me repeat again another worker was already assisting this customer. I had to wait 10 mins until the woman finished. Then decided she would assist me. Horrible horrible service. I will not return to this location. It's unfortunate one worker can ruin the reputation of an entire place. read more

Recently purchased eye glasses and contacts from this location. Had my eye exam by Dr. Paik and another exam for contacts by a young female doctor. Everyone at this location is very friendly and knowledgeable. I was really impressed how fast my glasses were ready for pick up (4 days!!). I was in and out of my exam in about 20 minutes. I had an amazing experience at the Target Optical - West Loop. Dr. Szwjaca was super kind and really helpful. It was my first time getting contacts, and she was really patient with me as I struggled. After some time, the doctor had another patient to see, so she brought me to the front. Another super kind lady sat with me for the next 30 minutes as I struggled getting my contacts in. I was here for an eye exam, late last year. Dr. Paik was very professional and explained everything very clearly. The staff was very friendly and after making sure that my insurance was accepted, listed, what options I had and the one that would most likely, suit me the best (based on my job & lifestyle). There were a couple of issues I had though, first: the collection of frames they had, were way too few. (I was able to find the frame I was OK with in the end) and second: one of the staff members, didn't take a measurement right, which led to me getting headaches after wearing the glasses continuously for 15 minutes! This was corrected after I went back a week later and got them replaced. I would recommend this place, but you might have to visit more than a couple of times. read more

The optician was personable and didn't judge me when I jumped out of my chair during the air puff glaucoma test. Dr. Paik made sure I was aware of all of my options before I left. after years of being a silent yelper for everything from restaurants to barbershops to eye doctors, I've decided to sign up for yelp to make sure I let everyone know about this awesome experience I had at Target Optical today. I walked in to find Luke walk me through each step super thoroughly and answer all my detailed questions in the most helpful manner possible. I dont like to admit it, but I'm as picky about customer service as it gets, even in countries like Japan where customer is treated as king. As this was my first time using insurance (ever) he walked me step by step in a concise manner what I was covered for, what I wasn't and how I could maximize my benefits. Honestly was superior customer service, hence why I'm even bothering to write a review for the first time ever. Dr. Paik was just as good. Super thorough, and I really felt he sincerely cared about the health of my eyes, which is crucial for a person like me who's been wearing glasses/contacts since I was 9 years old. He walked me through every single pair of contact lenses from bi weekly's to monthly's to daily's of all different brand names and the benefits and drawbacks and recommendations that are specifically tailored for my needs. And he sat through all of my most detailed questions and was super friendly about answering them - even I would get annoyed at some of the questions I ask. Dr. Paik and Target Optical are two separate entities that act hand in hand but you won't feel that as they have great collaboration between the two and a streamlined end-to-end process that makes the experience such a pleasant one. And as the other reviewers mentioned, he's super generous about the number of samples given, which is a plus too. Afterwards, walk out back to Luke, where Luke writes multiple post-it notes for me to go over price breakdown for each of the samples I would receive. I'm a numbers guy and the breakdown was super helpful and I was glad to find out the great pricing compared with the other places (like Pearle Vision on 400 W Division - that place has the worst customer service ever - do NOT go there, and I'll limit my disgust for the place). In all - if you're looking for an eye exam or just to refill your contact lenses, or want to buy new frames, or whatever, this is THE place to go. I know there are people hesitant to go for optometry-related-anything in a Target (as was I) but I am so glad that I now have a contact that I can rely on/depend on to just pick up the phone and call who knows me by voice and an optometrist who knows how to make the somewhat boring eye exams much more personable and engaging while genuinely caring about my eyes. Though she had to balance taking calls and helping me answer my thousand questions about the glasses and insurance coverage she was never flustered or overwhelmed. I just visited this location after having a bad experience with pearle vision and I must say after doing some research on yelp this location deserves all the praises it has garnered from other reviewers! I went in with a sour taste from my weekend experience with pearle and left target optical feeling great! They were patient, courteous and helped me make the best decisions based on what my insurance would cover! Yeah I left there paying out of pocket a measly $6.66! Lukas is the man! He spoke to my insurance company told them what I wanted and got it done! If you happen to hold cigna vision insurance go here for your eyewear needs! This was the best optical experience I have ever had. They had a promotion for 50% lenses and you could get a second pair for only $89. Super fast appointments, great doctor, and best of all-- the eye puffer machine isn't a giant puff of air. They have a new fancy one that is so fast and easy that you don't even notice it happened. So pleasantly suprised by all of the amazing reviews on a target..an optical at that. The team here is so easygoing, friendly and fun that it doesn't suprise me people would yelp about it. They all were extremely helpful and really seemed like they enjoyed what they did. I believe it was Ruben that mostly helped me( he had round glasses).From start to finish everyone I interacted with had nothing but smiles and jokes , and yet remained completely professional and took care of me promptly. I was not a customer at all this day, they really went out of their way to help me pick out good frames and were patient and honest about quality and suggestions. Even though I took forever to pic out frames they even brought more that they felt were my style or would compliment my face. The Dr also took her time and very thoroughly rechecked my vision. She was also extemely friendly and genuinely a concerned and warm person. Lastly I was very impressed by their selection. I've been going to Target Optical since 2013 with my husband and it's always been such a great experience. I've gone while super pregnant and post-baby. You can schedule an appointment online which is incredible when you're at work in the office all day. The staff, Dr. Paik & Dr. Szwjaca are always friendly and helpful and the appointments are quick, thorough and easy. I've always gone for my general check up and to purchase my contact lenses, but for the first time EVER this month I got this gnarly eye infection. I saw Dr. Szwjaca and she was so helpful and explained the medication to me and how this may have happened. The only bummer was my health insurance somehow doesn't cover an "Office Visit" so it was $65 out of pocket, but I'm just glad my eyes aren't itchy and awful anymore. I always look forward to my appointments here, someone always asks how my husband or my daughter are doing :) read more

Horrible customer service. I got my eye exam done here and had OK service. A few months later I wanted to try a different brand of contacts based on reviews but the BC on the new brand was slightly different. I called TargetOptical to ask if the difference would be OK for my eyes and since I got my eye exam there, if they would let me try on a pair of the new brand, which most clinics do. They told me I would have to come in and ask the optometrist in person. When I got there, they said they couldn't find me in the system. 15 minutes and a few back and forth conversations later they said my prescription is expired because my exam was over a year ago. It took me another 10 minutes to go through my email to get the receipt of my contacts order which shows the order date being well within a year. They finally found me in the system, but keep in mind I had to wait for the optometrist to be done with patients each time. After all this trouble they told me I'll have to pay for another eye exam to get a sample pair because they only do trails for something like 90 days after the exam. They could have told me this over the phone and avoided wasting 2 hrs of my life. I won't ever be going back there. read more

Went to pick up my glasses, waited in line with no acknowledgement from staff who were busy with customers. Another customer arrived after me, and waited behind me in line at the service desk. Then the blond "Dr" came out of the back room, overlooked me, and asks the young customer BEHIND me if HE needed help. He said he was here to pick up his order but didm't have an appointment, (the same as me)- the "DR" asked him to wait at a counter, then went back in to the back room- without ever acknowledging me or asking me what I was there for! Apparently, after 60, you become INVISIBLE to the staff at Target optical. RUDE!!! read more

I had my eyes checked at Northwestern Hospital and got my prescription. Went to Target Optical to get my first pair of glasses in late April this year. The staff is super friendly and helpful picking up my frames. It was buy one get second 50% so I got 2 pairs. The staff also helped to adjust the position after glasses arrived and gave me lots of pre-moister glass cloth. It was a great experience and I am planning going back again. read more

I had a great experience today visiting Dr. Paik and Associates. I phoned ahead to see if there were any same day appointments available and they were booked solid, ( it was Saturday ). They said if I was patient they could possibly slip me in between appointments, and they did! I had my contact lense and glasses prescriptions updated. I spent about $595 for a pair of multiple coating bifocals glasses in this store on Jan. 27. 2018. After about two months, I found some stain on lenses, it can't ne removed by lens wipe. I went to the store and asked Georgia (staff) to fix this issue. At that time, the glasses is withinthree month warranty. She told me that the stain is not a problem and it should not get worse. But it is not true. The stain is getting much larger. I went to the store this morning around 11 am, I talked to a lady about this issue, she said my warranty is over. She said that she can not do anything about this, she asked me to make new lenses. This is really a coating quality problem, but target played the warranty game with me to force me to pay new lenses. The first staff pushed me out warranty period, then the second staff told me that I am not covered by warranty anymore. This is very bad customer service. I will never go back to target optical store again I will let all my friends know about this problem too. read more

Great experience. I ran out of contacts and needed more asap. I was immediately helped and was able to see Dr. Andrew Paik quickly thereafter. Luke assisted with the checking in and was very patient, as I tried on nearly every pair of frames in the store! He and Andrew are very professional, personable, and polite. Far better service than I've ever had a LensCrafters. They were so welcoming that my husband decided to get an exam, too. We left with a year's supply of contacts, a new pair of glasses ordered for me and a new pair of prescription sunglasses for my husband. I usually order contacts online, so before insurance, they're a little more expensive here, but that's true of all optometrists. Comparatively, the prices for frames are more affordable than other places I've been looking. Good stuff. read more

Dr. Paik is overall very intelligent! He is very patient, clear in explaining things, and funny too. I had some problems with my contact lenses, but he was able to solve them immediately. I told him about my eyes consistantly going in and out of focus when I would look at a computer screen and he was able to determine my last eye doctor gave me a contact prescription that was to strong. He lowered my prescription and since then I have had no problems. His staff is kind and fast in getting things done. My overall experience with him was more than satisfactory. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I am a patient at target optical - I go to the Elston location and actually recently went in for a new RX...that visit alone cost me around $200. I had an emergency this morning where my contact ripped. I wear a -10 so I couldnt see anything out of my left eye and spent the morning with a headache waiting for the Target optical closest to work to open. I called the Jackson location to ask if I could stop by and get ONE f**** contact - they have hundreds of trial contacts available- I just needed ONE so I could see. Even though I just dropped $200 on an eye exam a week ago she told me very rudely that they cant help me because I didn't buy any contacts from them. ARE YOU F*** SERIOUS? So the fact that I am a patient and buy a SERVICE from you doesn't matter? Couldn't even help me out in an emergency!!! Awful. I called the LARABEE Target Optical location and explained the SAME thing to that girl and she said come on by NOT A PROBLEM. It is now 11 am and I already have my new contact(s)- SHE EVEN GAVE ME AN EXTRA PAIR- in and now I can get back to work. You guys suck at the Jackson location and could learn a few things from the Larabbe Target optical about customer service for your PATIENTS. Terrible I do not recommend going there! read more
