Proof that correct PD is necessary to see with glasses.

They DO NOT MEASURE PD, WHICH IS NECESSARY FOR ORDERING GLASSES!!!!! I can't wear contacts every day, so I also need glasses. I called Target Optical and asked if they measure PD for glasses. Brittany at Target Optical answered, "Yes, we do." I even asked Brittany if she's sure they measure PD, and she said yes, so I made an appointment. I paid Target Optical $130 for a useless prescription I couldn't use to order glasses!!!!! I had to go to another optometry office where they DO measure PD (Dr. Irani at Fruitvale Optometry [excellent doctor]) just to order glasses. Dr. Irani gave me a prescription with my PD value on it. Also, at Target Optical, Dr. Juang gave me the wrong contact lens prescription!!! I ordered contacts online with Dr. Juan's prescription and couldn't see with my new contacts!!!! I had to go to Target Optical again to get Dr. Juan's contact lens prescription rechecked and Dr. Chu gave me a different prescription. I had to return the contacts I ordered with Dr. Juan's prescription and order new contacts with Dr. Chu's prescription, huge hassle. Target Optical wasted a lot of my time and money!!!!!

The last time I had an eye exam was 20 years ago. My vision isn't horrible but recently I've been needing to step up a little closer to the cash register to read food menus, so I decided it is time for some glasses. Of course I had the choice of going to a mom and pop shop, but you know that slight uneasy feeling you get when you go to any type of doctor? To avoid that feeling, I decided to choose Target Optical cause Target makes me happy haha. Dr. Votran is extremely friendly! He explained everything well and made me feel very comfortable and at ease. Steve let me take my sweet time choosing my frames. He also helped me decide between two glasses and picked the one that I was leaning towards too. The whole process took an hour. After I got home, however, I reviewed my receipt and realized that I paid more than I expected. I realized it was because I had gone to an out-of-network provider. Wish they would've mentioned it to me, but I also should have done my research beforehand. I ended up going back to return the glasses and go to an in-network provider instead. But I was still happy to do my exam with Dr. Votran, so I would still recommend this Target Optical for eye exams (and glasses if your insurance covers it)!

This place is really hard to work with, and I think it's mainly due to one woman who works there…read moreand isn't nice. But in general, I wouldn't recommend this place. We have used this place twice. The good thing about this place is they have a good selection of children's frames, which most places don't have. Also, they did a good job making the glasses (or their lab did). They also take the Covered California medical insurance for children's exam and glasses, and most places don't. These are the reasons for 2 stars instead of 1 star. The bad things: The eye exam appointments need to be booked 3 months in advance or more. It is very hard to get an exam slot. I've been to many places and it has never been this hard. Even at an ophthalmologist, where they are also doing surgeries and such, it is easier to get an appointment for an eye exam. You need an appointment to look at glasses, and it also takes a while to get an appointment. At other places, you can often get a same day appointment, or at least within the next day or two. But at Eyewise, you have to wait 2-3 weeks. Even the second time we came, as repeat customers, we had an urgent issue (broken glasses) and had to wait a long time for an appointment. We finally got an appointment, and then the woman who works here didn't even help us. Why do you need an appointment if they are just going to ignore you the whole time anyway? She never even got up from her desk. We had to go over to her and ask specific questions. When we were ready to order the glasses and went to tell her, she finally came over but didn't explain options or say anything or make eye contact or act nice at all. I felt like we were really putting her out or something. The only reason we got glasses here was because of the good selection of children's frames. The other time we went here it was because we had only a couple places we could use insurance, and the same woman was there, and very unfriendly. The whole time, I felt like I'd done something wrong just by being there. It was not a welcoming experience. That time it was for both exam and glasses. The exam was fine. The glasses are fine. But the experience is bad. I don't need much help, but being completely ignored even when I first arrive feels bad. If it had happened only once, I'd think maybe she was just having a bad day, but nope, not 4 times total. When the glasses were ready, they called to let us know and schedule a time for us to pick them up. I said I could come now or anytime the next day, and they said their first available time was a week later. A week later! Just to get the glasses? So we took the first available appt, and when we went, they just handed us the glasses and asked are they fine, and we were gone. I don't know why you need an appt for that and why we couldn't have just gotten them earlier. Also, every time we've been here, it's never been busy, we're usually the only ones there and it's a very quiet place. This place moved from the Nob Hill shopping area to near Marina Village, in an office building. You ring a doorbell to get buzzed into the building. I've been to many optometry shops in my life, and the experience here pales in comparison with all the others.

My eye exam was very straight forward, Dr Hansson even apologized that there were no major changes after my exam, loved his humor. After the exam I sat down with one of the reps to go over my glasses needs. Narrowed down to frame and type of glasses I wanted (transitional colored and anti-reflective lenses), was transparent with even breaking down the costs and what my insurance covered, appreciated the full disclosure. Gave me an ETA of 2.5-3wks for glasses arrival. I came in on 5/21 so I called on 6/2 just to follow in case it had already arrived but they were too busy to inform me. Turns out it just got mailed out on 6/2 and was assured it will arrive sometime this week. I called on Saturday 6/13 at noon since i haven't heard anything back and found out it had actually arrived on Friday. This was the minor issue I had, Saturday morning since they've opened no one reached out to me, they close on Sundays and Mondays so if I never followed up on Sat, i would not be getting them until Tuesday and I actually needed them asap too. I don't buy that they were too busy to notify me via call/txt/email unless their foot traffic was like the lines at In N Out. Overall, glasses were great! Will come back again!

I have no problem with Dr Young, he provided me with excellent care and answered all my questions. I retired, and I wanted to get a set of Transitions eyeglasses w/ my current prescription. I ask for a full refund. Sharon offers to have the glasses made as-is as an extra set. I said no thanks, that's not what I want. I got my refund. So next, I asked Sharon for clip-on shades. She offers me a custom made set for about $100. Their supplier said they don't have them, and they need two months to get them. TWO MONTHS? Are you using an overseas manufacturer? Sharon said "yes, most likely." Guess what? They don't have it. What a waste on time. So I tried Kaiser Vision Essentials for the first time. Got the glasses I wanted in two weeks.

I have been a patient of Dr. Bui for several years, and I cannot speak highly enough of the medical care. Dr. Bui is fantastic, thorough, and the sole reason I have stayed with this clinic for so long. Unfortunately, the front desk staff makes every visit incredibly frustrating. For years, I have tolerated a consistent lack of professionalism and warmth at the front counter. The staff rarely seems pleasant to work with, and if you ask a simple question, they treat it as though you are causing them a major inconvenience. It is incredibly discouraging to be treated like a burden by the administrative team just to see an excellent physician. Patients deserve to be greeted with basic courtesy and respect.
