How can you go wrong with a Target near Humboldt State? Thank goodness because we seemed to be forgetting a couple things every time we went to stock up my daughter's dorm. It was approximately 10 minutes away from campus which I was relieved as a parent. The store was nice and clean and of course out of stock for back to school items. The reason I gave only three stars was for the customer service department. Although I understand how difficult customers can be, I believe I am usually calm for the most part. On our last trip to Target, we had to return a power strip and although I paid with a credit card, the associate asked if I wanted cash or gift card. I stated that I wanted it returned on my credit card. It wasn't an ATM/Debit card so why would you give me cash? Well, as I explained to her I did not pay with a gift card/ATM/debit card I wanted it returned and credited back to my credit card. After several unsuccessful attempts on the return transaction, the associate asked for assistance. Then, her manager asks if the return was not possible what other option would I accept the return. NOW, if I paid with the credit card and knowing that I would be paying interest on a power strip that I would no longer have and would be like I was getting a cash advance... No thanks. The associate continually asked me if she couldn't return the item and credit my credit card what other options would I accept. So I explained to her several times without raising my voice but more of educating her if the return did not go through because the machine would not accept it, Then maybe she should be contacting IT or someone who could override the system. With thinking that I was getting angry after 30 minutes of waiting and "discussing" That I do not want a gift card.. The associate finally credited the return back to my credit card. That was the most irritating and really confusing incident I've ever had with a Target store. It won't stop us from going there because apparently it's the only one in the area. But if someone pays by credit card, do them a favor and just credit the customer the way they issued payment. Makes life so much happier. read more

Most check stands in Humboldt, with always only 1-2 check stands open; pretty long lines all the time, clearance is a joke on merchandise and management thinks they are kings. But has pretty good food, and is bigger than Walmart. read more

Used to be a good store, but has gone downhill. They seem to be carrying fewer items, but more of those items, so the selection isn't great. They stopped carrying a lot when they put the grocery section in a while back - they didn't expand the store to make room for the grocery section, they just cut back on what they carry and shuffled it around. They are slow to get new items (such as books, DVDs/Blu-Rays, video games, etc). They usually only have 2-4 registers open at any given time, even when the lines are long. And in the 6 years I have been going to the store I have never, ever seen the express lines open. Some staff are friendly, but most seem to have an "I don't care" attitude. Very upset that they are now letting non-service animals in the store - they sell food, so that is technically not allowed, but I have seen it happen many times and when I mention it to employees they say, "yeah, a lot of people bring their pets in to the store." I expect that at Petco, but not Target. Very disappointed in this store, and it's management. read more

Extremely clean, merchandise displayed beautifully. Prices are ok. I love department stores &this is probably THE best in Humboldt. My only complaint would be their selection isn't always as good as it could be. read more

It's a Target! The parking lot is decently kept and inside it looks like a Target! With customer service, cashiers, bathrooms and food. They need to keep more than one trash can outside. I think I know why they keep only one outside but I think it's tacky and they should have at least 2 or 3 like most Targets. read more

This is a good store. I think a lot of people don't know just how good a deal you can get on a cell phone here. Also, the 'cart wheel' app is pretty cool for adding savings while you shop. read more

There is no music piped into this Target. I feel like I am shopping in a library. It feels unusually quiet.... ALMOST TOO QUIET. Please fix this corporate TARGET! I don't even hear advertisements.... nothing but other people shopping. Eh, Target is Target (read Tarjay). All Targets are the same (especially now since they've remodeled, ours IS the same as all the others now!) However, I'm sure most will find (when Walmart opens here in a couple weeks) they are a bit overpriced for not that great of quality merchandise. The only time I go there (i live on the other side of town) is when my son has a bday party to attend. I purchase a Tarjay gift card with a gift bag full of candy for the lil boogers. read more

I like Target, and this is one. Not the biggest, but is in a pretty convenient location. If you need basic stuff while visiting Eureka, this is probably your best option. Otherwise you will end up at Kmart (eww), Winco (huge and only really useful for groceries) , or Safeway (also really more grocery oriented, and possibly more expensive). read more

Although the prices are really low, you get what you pay for! Three times in less than 30 days, my phone has been knocked off-line. The first time I called (after a 20-minute hold time, listening to a recording saying they have the "best customer service"-- grr!), they said "Huh! We don't know why..." the second time, the same thing, and they tried to blame it on my phone. But the third time, someone leaked that the company had been changing cell towers in my area from ATT to T-Mobile and I need a new SIM card! They told me to take my phone to Target store to get the new one (30-miles round trip!). At target they told me I would have to pay $10. for the new SIM card. At this point, I had wasted gas and time to the tune of 3 hours plus 3 days of no calling service) getting this situation sorted out and I refused. They said I could call and get the SIM card mailed for free. I called (same drill with the 20-minute hold) and was told that if I paid for the SIM card at Target, they would've credited my account for it! Then, when I asked them to mail me the new T-Mobil SIM card, they took all the info after putting me on three different holds for at least 10 minutes each, and said "before we send you the card, we need you to talk to our tech department. They might want to try something else." That was it!! I'd asked them to credit the days my phone was down because of the towers and they refused because, they said, I'd received other services like text and email, even though I couldn't make or receive calls! I am now going to a new company. I am furious with this company. They claim to offer special service for seniors, but this is one senior who doesn't want any more of their "specialness"! read more

I pretty much love Target...most of the time. I got a great full-body mirror for only six bucks which totally made my day, and I always buy my makeup and hair products there. They're the only store I know of that carries E.L.F. brand cosmetics, which I adore. Unfortunately I haven't really been loving them lately. I went in tonight looking for a simple white button-up shirt for work. They had two styles: one with pockets and one with ruffles all over the front. I'm not allowed to wear either at my job. It seems like any store that sells clothing would carry such a basic shirt, as I'm sure it's a staple in many closets. Also, while I like the new remodel, everything has moved so much and the way some aisles have changed direction, it's much more difficult to find some things. I used to find my fiance's deodorant one or two aisles from my girly stuff, now it's several aisles away, with medicines and things in between which makes no sense. At the same time I think when they started moving things around maybe they could have made it easier by either posting a little map near the front or perhaps posting signs somewhere. For example, right up front where stationery is located now, could be a sign saying "Looking for housewares? Here's where to find them!" read more

Customer service there isnt the best. While they do have some workers there that are very helpful and patient, I was rung up by a cashier girl who wasn't very patient or knowledgeable at her job. I had some coupons with me for some baby items and Target had a $10 gc for $50 spent on diapers&wipes promotion . I clearly had well over $50 worth of diapers before tax to be eligible for that promotion and I did have the promotion barcode on my phone that was sent to my phone from their website, but when the cashier by the name of Tori, scanned it, it appeared that it didn't work. She then quickly said "sorry, it didn't work" and continued scanning my other items as if she doesn't even want to help me and figure out why it isn't working. I then told my sister to go grab a baby wipe to see if that would make a difference and the cashier gave me an annoyed look. I told her she can rang up the other customers first since I'm not in any hurry. When my sister brought back the wipes, it was added in and the cashier scanned my code again, still didn't work. She just said it's not working and handed me back my phone. I then asked if I can speak with a manager or someone who can help honor the promotion. She looked at me with a "wtf" look and turned on her help light and looked at one of her coworkers with an annoyed look and rolled her eyes. (Facial expressions say a lot). The person who came to help gave me $10 off my total instead since for some reason their promotion wasn't working like it suppose to. I then told the cashier I had other coupons and she looked even more annoyed as if she wanted to just rush me out the door. I had coupons for majority of the things I bought but because she was making me feel so rushed and uncomfortable, I gave up and just gave her 4 coupons out of 10 that I had. I apologized to her for making it difficult for her as I understand how it feels like to work in the customer service area, but I felt that for a person who is doing customer service, it's their job to help the customer and make it a good experience for the customers. Im not a mean or rude customer and i always hope to recieve good customer service, but with this experience, I felt like crying because as a hard working mother, I just want to save as much as a can and with the trip experience that I had, I was not able to do that. read more

I'm very upset with the customer service I received. The employee at the customer service counter couldn't help me and she also refused to call a manager over to address my problems. She claimed to be a manager and said that her answer was the final say. I ended up calling corporate and had them check to see if Emily was in charge in any sort of way at that store and they said that her name didn't come up on their list of managers at all. So not only did she refuse to help me or give me to someone who could help me, she also straight up lied to me. Target, you should check your employees because Emily was obviously on a power trip. read more

I have never felt so degraded in my life. I was rung up by a cashier, her name was Miranda and my target debit card didn't work so I asked her to just hold on and I called the number, the wait time was unusually high and after 20 minutes I got back in line to just pay for the items in cash. I forgot to mention the manager by the name of Mike was circling the register and watching me like a hawk the whole time I was there, like I was going to take the items without paying, probably because i have a bunch of tattoos and I don't look like the sweetest woman in the world. I watch this cashier ring this older white guy up and he says: oh I thought the pants were buy one get one half off. She says: no , that's the woman's department. In return he says that he will just put the pants back and she says on no worries I will just give you the discount. I get back up to the register and ask if she can just give me the 5% off even though my card isn't working because I'm clearly still on hold and tired of waiting. She looks at me and says no we don't just give discounts. In my head, I'm wondering if I look like such a piece of shit that she feels the need to degrade me in front of everyone, while giving the older white man a discount, no questions asked. I paid full price for everything and explained to her how I felt it was really unprofessional that she decided it was okay to play favorites and give other people discounts that don't even have red cards and walked out. Screw those people in that store for judging me when I spend around $300 there per month. From here on out, I will only go to target when I need something that other stores don't have. read more

only reason Target is getting 4 stars from me is due to the fact that their clothes fit me really well and are decently priced, along with the well stocked books/music/tv/home decor/beauty sections (i always feel like I leave with I went in for) with that said, customer service from their employees = horrible! Remember when they had the best garden shop in the entire county? It was exceedingly wild and popular! Because of other locations in N. Cal didn't do well, they discontinued. Their store seems to be run by places far from here. Try to get an electric blanket for the elderly on the 'off' season even though we have cold, wet, foggy summer days and you are wasting your time. Try to buy quality clothes is a joke for young women unless you purchase in the maternity section. Shoes and socks for women seem to favor the tiny sizes ... and shoes may seem to be a great deal if you have money to burn and expect them to last a couple of wears (most don't make it past one season/3 month period). Too many Made in China goods! read more

Avoid that lady from electronics dept!! I am warning you I went to buy myself a pretty expensive phone won't mention which one but the thing is I wanted to activate it as a prepaid and she told me to call a dumb number which is for American roaming network she keep insisting that's the one I needed to call I knew she was wrong and I actually I needed to activate it online on Verizon web site but since she acts like she knows everything and she was really rude to me having a weird tone like if was saying "I know more than you because I'm older " she didn't know shit I lost money on some bs that I can't get a refund and also I have to pay more to actually activate the way I knew I have to do it also not to mention that she was about to charge like 300$ more for other features that I didn't ask !! If it wasn't for the guys that were close to her and realized of her mistake she wouldn't even change it because when I told her that was not the price I had in mind after researched online she tried to act like I was wrong !!
