I had a week of sleeping on a very uncomfortable mattress and at 130 lbs I left a permanent indentation near the head of the bed which deformed the area. When I called to have it returned, I was told the manager would require a 20% restocking fee! I was able to negotiate a 15% fee although that is still over $800 for a faulty mattress. When I called to let the manager know I had not gotten reciepts and felt the fee was not fair since it was a faulty mattress, he said he laid on the mattress and there was nothing wrong with it.

I got two washers there, a dryer, a mattress set, and my sister got a castle themed bunk bed for her kids. Just about anyone can finance anything in the store, as far as I know they have very relaxed standards on credit. It was my understanding that so long as you have a job, three references, and the bank doesn't scream and set your application on fire - you can make payments. My sister defaulted on her payments for the bunk bed last year; she'd been in a terrible car accident, we lost a family member, and as she tried to cope she let several of her obligations slip. Several months later, probably six or eight months, it came up and she said she was afraid to contact them because she expected they'd want all her past payments up front with fees. I mentioned her situation to them the next time I went in to pay my bill. The gentleman I was speaking with was kind enough to say he hoped she was doing okay before anything else. Then he told me he would be happy to just let her pick her payments up again, even though it was already flagged to go to collections. Since she lived so far away, I asked him if I could take responsibility for her account without actually putting it on my own account, so it stayed in her name but I got the monthly reminders. It wasn't a problem, and the bunk bed is now payed off completely. I cannot express my appreciation that they had not inflated her balance with late fees, and did not insist on a large bulk payment to get started putting her back into good standing. That he asked, and seemed entirely genuinely concerned if she was okay, was so kind. Thank you, sir. Sure, there are occasionally warehouse errors - my new washer was a bit late because the model I'd originally decided on had some shipping problem and I'd have to wait, and it was frustrating, but it's a local business and things happen. The staff was sympathetic and attentive. After about a week they made my first choice (which had not been available at the time) manifest instead, somehow, at a better price than we'd originally discussed because of some tax-free sale. (They have all kinds of sales pretty frequently, but I'd say their anniversary sale in November is the best.) Plus they delivered, set it up, and then for no extra charge they lugged my old broken washer away. I'm happy with the selection, and the service. Going in to pay my bill always comes with a pleasant chat and it's really nice for at least one of my errands to be so casual and social. I've also never gone in there and been told they wouldn't at least try, and that's worth a lot in customer service.

The young male salesman was really awesome, heard I was just looking for a mattress for the spare bedroom, and brought up the fact that they had a really great mattress that was delivered and immediately returned because there was a spot of dirt on it. Regularly was $800.00 and would be half off. I came in immediately the next day and the "manager" Mr. Gantt (yeah he's the manager but he sure doesn't have good bedside mannerisms) argued with me regarding the price. Said oh no it's already such a great deal because It was returned after two days. Then as he rang me up, told me the real story which was that it was repossessed after a week in crescent city. And after payment was processed he proceeded to tell me that there shouldn't be any odor. Also made my boyfriend load it up by himself while he drank his morning coffee and watched. While I'm sure it's still a good deal, it makes me uncomfortable to get three different stories on one item. I realized why this store is always empty every time I have ever gone in it. Bad business. I gave it one star because I'm hoping that the mattress will really be free of odor and In hopes that it really was never used even though it was in fact there for a week. Recently acquired a set of matching danish solid wood nightstands that are just beautiful and paid much less for the real deal in comparison to the knock-offs I had been looking at - like almost half the price less. I was expecting to pay much more for real wood and true vintage, the prices are very reasonable by comparison. What should have been a straightforward 300-square-foot hardwood flooring installation turned into…read morea nightmare of poor workmanship, unprofessional behavior, and inadequate repairs. We paid $6,800 expecting a high-quality job, but what we got was an exhausting ordeal. From start to finish, the experience was riddled with issues that we had to identify and report ourselves--problems that any competent professional should have caught immediately. The quality of the work was shockingly bad. On day one, Liquid Nails glue was tracked across the floor, leaving visible shoe prints and hardened globs that were never properly cleaned. Many boards were cracked or splintered, and there uneven seams in the flooring because the lines weren't properly started, according to the contractors who later fixed the job. The subfloor wasn't leveled, causing high and low spots that ultimately required sanding. To make matters worse, the second contractor we hired to fix the mess pointed out that parts of the floor weren't nailed down properly particularly around the walls, and the nailing overall was insufficient. They also found numerous "H-joints," a hallmark of rushed and sloppy workmanship. The baseboards, which we paid $700 to have installed, were no better. They were nailed to drywall instead of studs and could be pulled off with minimal effort. Excessive caulk was used to cover gaps and poorly cut boards, and additional wood putty stains were left behind during their attempts at repairs. The lack of professionalism was equally disappointing. One of the installers loudly berated a younger worker to the point that both we and our neighbors could hear it. It was clear that no quality inspections were being done. We had to point out every issue ourselves, and the repair attempts they made often made things worse instead of better. Despite repeated complaints, the company failed to resolve the issues. The first repair attempt involved replacing one marked board and adjusting a seam, but they didn't clean the Liquid Nails residue, leaving even more wood putty stains in the process. A second installer tried twice to remove the glue but failed both times. In the end, we were offered either a board replacement or a "deep discount." The so-called "deep discount" only covered the cost of repairs and felt like a minimal gesture given the extent of the issues. Our best decision was taking the repairs out of their hands. The professionals who took over spent time explaining all the issues and were shocked at the poor workmanship. I regret not hiring them in the first place because, in the end, we'll never get the finish we initially wanted, and there are issues with the floor we're just going to have to live with. Save yourself the frustration and hire someone else. Arcata ProFloor's lack of quality control, unprofessional behavior, and resistance to taking accountability--offering only the bare minimum to address their mistakes--make them impossible to recommend. What should have been a simple project turned into weeks of stress, nights spent sleeping in my office, and deep disappointment.

This is not a minor thing and someone should have looked over the chair before selling it (especially since we paid almost $100 for it). I should've exited the building after the first red flag, but we needed flooring installed in our rental unit and I didn't have time to shop around at other businesses (this one is very close to my home). I made a terrible decision. When it was clear that I was in need of fairly cheap flooring for a rental, I was immediately rushed through to select my flooring choice and was even left (by the woman that appears to run the place)mid sentence for a customer that had just walked in and likely wanted more expensive flooring than myself. My husband and I were talked to condescendingly, interrupted and argued with during almost the entire experience with the woman that appears to run this business. There was absolute terrible communication and scheduling. They even subcontracted the carpet installation! They left holes in the linoleum they installed and then blamed us for them...and each time I called to communicate, to ask when they're coming, why are there holes, etc...a finger was redirected at me...the paying customer. The holes still remain in my linoleum...that is BRAND NEW. I suggest you don't even enter this business's doors.
