I bought a top of the line Sealy Stearns and Foster Reserve mattress from Mike at this store thinking that it would live up to it's price of over $5,000 but it did not. I had a week of sleeping on a very uncomfortable mattress and at 130 lbs I left a permanent indentation near the head of the bed which deformed the area. When I called to have it returned, I was told the manager would require a 20% restocking fee! I was able to negotiate a 15% fee although that is still over $800 for a faulty mattress. When I called to let the manager know I had not gotten reciepts and felt the fee was not fair since it was a faulty mattress, he said he laid on the mattress and there was nothing wrong with it. read more

We were in need of a new recliner and stopped in to see what selection this place had. To our delight they had what seemed like 300 different types of recliners to chose from. Basic ones, electric ones, different materials, ones that didn't quite look like a recliner. So many to choose from. The staff was helpful and speedy. After finding a chair we liked. The staff had it wrapped and out the door in what seemed like under 2 minutes- the time it took to walk outside and back the truck up to the door. Lots of other bedroom sets and living space furniture to chose from here and will be coming back to buy a few more pieces as we furnish our new home. Definitely recommend. Yup, it's true, the best furniture store in town! Thank goodness they are here and serving the fine people of Humboldt County. I went to the showroom several times and each time I got stellar customer service. They are friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and most importantly work with you and your budget. I never once felt pressured or pushed and they made sure I got exactly what I needed. The showroom is big and you'll see many samples on the floor which make it easier should you have to purchase from one of their catalogues. They also carry a wide range of mattresses so check them out. As for me, I had the great pleasure of working with two wonderful folks-- Brian for all of our bedroom(s) furniture and Scott for the formal living room and family room. We have bought many items for our home from Furniture Design Center and have always been very pleased. We then decided to buy new furniture for our 5th wheel and again bought from them. We brought our 5th wheel to them and they installed the new couch and love seat. While traveling one of the arms on the couch came loose, we called them and they said as soon as we got back they would fix it. We got back and set up camping at an RV Park and the Manager came to fix the arm on his day off. We can't say enough about the great service they offer. Thank you! read more

The customer service from everyone was great, Brian was our salesman and was very helpful and also able to make arrangements for me to have furniture sooner than later. With Covid-19 things are crazy some things take longer than others etc, but Brian made a suggestion I was hesitant about at first but I'm SOOO GLAD I got what he showed me !! I was able to have what I wanted, and in the amount of time promised and it's the best piece of furniture I own! Pleased with what I bought however the customer service lacked. When it came to delivery and communication, I was given a delivery date but when that day came and went, there was no word. I had to call THEM and find out what was going on. They told me it was going to be another whole week before the furniture was delivered. They should have called ME and given me this update or else I wouldn't have gotten rid of my old furniture so soon. Probably won't ever go back because they made it seem as if my business wasn't needed, when the store was completely empty but had 5 employees working yet they couldn't take 2 minutes to call me with an update. Very disappointing customer service. Kind of bummed I spent my money there but it was the best deal and Verns is worse. read more

We couldn't have had a better experience! We went to The Furniture Design Center because we wanted to try out the Tempur-Pedic mattresses. We had no intention of buying the automated moveable bed frame, but we took the deep dive. Our salesperson, Dick (I think) Boyle was informative, respectful, friendly, but never pushy. Once we were lying on the mattress, we were hooked. The moveable frame features were the the proverbial icing on the cake. The delivery and set up by E.J. and Kevin was superb. They were on time and called ahead. They were masked, courteous and paid careful attention to detail. explained the mechanism of the frame, made sure everything was working properly, and when we noticed a slight difference in the height of one part of the frame from the other, they went out of their way to correct it and make sure we were satisfied. This is the only place I will go for furniture shopping. I've purchased three sofas/armchairs from this place and each time is just as great as the last. I came 30 minutes before opening time and they graciously let me in early and helped me before they were setup. The staff were over the top nice to me and my child, and extremely helpful/knowledgeable about fabrics that will work the best for your home needs, as I have 3 young kids and a lab!. The two gentlemen (Scott and Brian I believe?)did not try to oversell me on something more than what I needed (in fact I got talked down from eyeing the fanciest couch in the store which I'm thankful for!) and they worked with me on the budget I had. I did end up spending much more than what my husband agreed on with me, but... I know our budget was not realistic for wanting a leather, durable, power recline sofa. I did find the same set online for about $600 less than listed price but ended up getting closer to that price in the end after discussing with them. I ended up paying ~$200 more than online but I'll gladly pay for the expertise, the service, and benefit of supporting local! The best part, my sofa is coming to me within a few days of purchasing with free delivery. I'll certainly be coming back when it is time to get a bunk bed in the near future :) ps- they invited me back later in the day for the BBQ they were having. Went to buy a oversized recliner..tried it out and asked if the footrest could be adjusted. I am 5 foot and need an easy closing footrest. I was told yes of course. Ordered it..went down and tried out the new recliner..warehouse personnel adjusted the bolts in anthe back of the recliner to supposedly ease the footrest tension...was told that it would loosen up over time.. I was told that if I needed it adjusted more to call an someone would come out. Well I called 6 weeks later and Ramon the supervisor first wanted me to adjust it and then said "you probably want someone to come out"..Umm we paid over $1400 for this recliner and I would hope so...well shane came out and unscrewed the wingnuts in the front of the chair, which did nothing. I told him the warehouse guy adjusted the back are with a wrench. He said he would have a supervisor call me. Well I did get a call that basically said I was nuts that no one adjusted it with a wrench and that it could not be adjusted further. I am very angry..I will never buy another item from them and I will steer people I know away from them. I asked the right questions..they could have followed up appropriately. I am guessing from what I have read on line that the wing nuts adjust the recline of the back not the foot rest..the bolts in the back adjust the scissor arms that move when the foot rest is raised and lowered...we are going to lubricate the arms where they connect with the bold and I am writing the owner.. read more

I needed a new mattress & box spring set and called a few stores in Eureka. By far, I got the best information from Jay at FDC. I stopped in the next day and was happily not pressed by sales staff. Brian was very helpful and I found what I was looking for within a short time. The pricing was very good w/free delivery for the next day. The delivery was right on time and set up & removal of old bed completed in way under an hour. Nominal fee for removal. My mother who is 85 bought a recliner. She chose several options not on the floor model. When the custom recliner arrived they moved the old recliner to her garage. This required multiple flights of stairs. Well she wasn't happy with the rnew recliner. She went back to the store and ordered a different one which they came and changed out. Long story short she did this THREE times! The last time required even more disassembly and reassembly and moving of new and old furniture. The owner even came to her house in the middle to make sure she was happy. Ultimately she got one she was happy with. What was important to me was the amazing level of service the store gave an older lady and the positive and supportive customer support they exhibited throughout. We don't live in the area but if we did we would be buying from this store. read more

They only care about you the customer until you sign on doted line. Ordered a recliner and had it financed by FDC. Was told the recliner would take 4 to 6 weeks for delivery. After making 4 payments a waiting 12 weeks they tried to deliver the recliner until I had asked about the fabric protection I had paid for. They did not apply fabric spray and had to take back to store. When they returned they informed me that I owed another $85.00 since they forgot to bill me for the head and arm protectors I asked for. If FDC had really cared about the customer, they would have included the protectors at no charge and would have not make me call several times to find out why my recliner was not being delivered. I would not recommend Furniture Design Center to anyone. Their pricing is high and I will never go back to them again. Ed read more

These guys are awesome! I enjoy ribbing salesstaff and if I am lucky the management too, just to be an imp. FDC not only took my jokes and pranks in stride, they also threw it back. We went shopping for a new Lazy-E-Boy recliner. Blaine the Manager told me the fabric I choose was discontinued and the chair wasn't in stock, after a few seconds he smiled and said "Naw, psych, you will get it on Wednesday" 5 days after purchasing it. I did not have to pay the sales tax, received half off the delivery fee and fabric protection. The staff are killer and I would shop at FDC again. read more

If you go in be very careful period I went in to purchase a Tempurpedic bed with $1,000 down cash. My daughter purchased it in her name because her credit was better than mine. While there I picked out a Tempurpedic bed however they did not have the size I wanted in stock and they needed it as soon as possible. The salesman who I believe was the owner did the paperwork for the bed and during that time all they discussed with 12 months same as cash. They never discussed any other options ... as well I changed the bed and upgraded to a queen for $150 more. Apparently they did not have the frame I wanted either and said that they would upgrade the frame to make sure I got a bad as soon as I could period I was very disappointed once the bed showed up because it was not only more expensive but it had massage and things I had not even wanted in my bed and the bed he sold me was too tall for me to get into and I have fallen out of it trying to stand up off the edge period I would recommend that buyer beware! My son bought a bed there and he was given other options with less money down. We are paying a large payment because we were only given an option of 12 months same as cash. Don't go in there expecting better service then your Eureka Home Furnishings or Verns because you're not going to get it read more

Blane was as genuine as it comes. There was no "sharking" going on. When the Temperpedic threw us a bone and wouldn't ship on time, Blane made it worth our time to wait. And, as sometimes things happen, when a problem arose after having the bed for several months, Blane was still right on top of the problem and was there for us to help us get through the dilemma. I appreciate the service we received and don't think I would get the same service anywhere else in our area. We realized the Temperpedic wasn't a good fit, and exchanged to a Sterns & Foster mattress with no hassle. The delivery team is courteous and efficient.
