This is a review for the Outlet store! I had been looking for a headboard for our guest room for ages and was having no luck finding just a headboard at an affordable piece (it's a seldom used room, I didn't want to shell out $$$ for it) and reluctantly had one in an online cart for far more than I wanted to spend. Stopped in here on a whim and found not one, but TWO headboards in the size I needed. Not only were they well below my budget, but I got a selection! Picked one, paid $15 dollars, and it's exactly what I was looking for. My money stayed local, and it was $70 cheaper than what I was about to spend online. Can't wait to go back! read more

Great resale thrift store located in the Westwood Shopping Center, on the 2600 block of Alliance. This is actually two locations for one store. One location is clothing, footwear, accessories, and small items. The other location, two doors down, is the larger of the two spaces that houses mostly household items, furniture, kitchen stuff, that sort of thing. Same great store - two spaces in the same shopping center - two doors apart with a coffee shop in between. Opening a couple months ago, I had been wanting to check then out as I drive by the location every once in a while and forget they are there. I happened to be on that side of town with nothing on my schedule for the afternoon so today was the day. The clothing side has a great selection of cold weather clothing - Carhartt, Columbia, Patagonia - I saw them all hanging - this is a resale shop so the prices at not dirt cheap but way less than retail - they also have a grading system on their clothes tags (A,B-, etc) and the prices adjust accordingly depending on the grade quality of the item. I looked in briefly on the furniture side though did not shop it today. It looked well laid out and I will the next time I'm there and update this review accordingly. They do have a "Sale" clothing rack and it had several decent garments, and all discounted - I scored on a vintage nylon baseball jacket for $6 bucks on the sale rack! The front glass cases of the clothing space have small jewelry, knock knack stuff and other tiny items - there I scored eight vintage bowling pins, as in lapel pins, all from the 50s- 70s for .25¢ a piece. Gotta love freaking out shopping during the Pandemic! I walked in--customers and staff were all in masks, sanitizer options at door, clear walkways, staff very attentive. I quickly pointed and they packed it for delivery and I paid over the phone. It was hella quick and easy. I just bought a large, antique wooden table and chairs, ab cruncher, pink/purple organizer for my daughter's room, stuffed animal. It was all delivered same day to McKinleyville! The two men that arrived were extremely courteous and professional. They even asked my 4 yo where she wanted her new organizer in her room, making her feel on top of the world. This is a well organized and well kept thrift store that prioritizes sustainability and customer service. Some items may be a little higher in price than some other thrift stores but still great quality. I bought a large piece of furniture and a small table and the woman who owns the store was extremely helpful with loading it. She even waited an hour after closing so that we may drop off the first load at home and come back for the rest. The owner was super friendly as were the employees. The store is also located in town square where they have a farmers markets on Saturday until 2pm and other shops/food to walk around. read more

So awesome. I went to 2 different thrift stores before this looking for something to wear to an ugly Christmas sweater party. The first store had NO options. The second store had a couple options but were INSANELY expensive. This store was so reasonably priced AND had TONS of options. Not only did I find the perfect sweater (had so many to choose from too) I ended up buying 2 dresses because they had so much unbelievably cute stuff. Had to stop myself from buying more too. The only thing I don't like is that none of it is returnable. Oh well, I'll definitely be back though. read more

My roommate and I went here to get out of the house and look for some gooddeals. We first walked into the store containing the furniture and were greeted by a very friendly guy who welcomed us and explained the deals, all stars are for him. We then went to the other store where we were ignored while the cashier talked in length to one customer. Not bad untill we were getting ready to leave. It was close to closing and the only words she spoke to us were in refrence to us getting out. I almost set me items down and walk out then and there. These guys are great. I love the atmosphere and the items that come floating through the shop. From what I understand they donate a lot of their excess to people in need. All I can say is wow. I wish there was a "zero" star rating that I could give this store bc it honestly doesn't even deserve "one" star. My only brief experience with this store was from online shopping, seeing an item I liked (in this case-a couch), and a couple phone calls with suspect customer service from a sales rep and an unbelievably rude and most unprofessional call I've ever had from a business let alone a business owner. I was told they deliver to eureka for 20$ but bc this couch is "really heavy" the delivery fee is now 40$. This sounded suspect so I asked at what weight does this price bracket go up to 40$? The rep stammers and "uhhhs" so I ask for a manager. Which is where the fun started and the sale lost. So the owner/manager Jayce calls me which we have her no call back number nor did we ask her to call which in itself is a lil intrusive if u ask me. But some could call it overly ambitious I guess. Anyways the nature of the call was my question about their delivery price bracket which apparently there isn't one. Jayce just felt that the 40$ fee the rep chose to make was justified bc 1) the couch is "really heavy" 2) it costs her approx. 50$ to have two workers go in the work truck to eureka which is about a ten minute drive and they will spend about 20 minutes here etc. etc. (why she is breaking down the logistics and explaining her overhead is beyond me) 3) the item is a clearance item so bc its already discounted she needs to be able to make some money back if she can. So the end result was if I wasn't ok with the 100% markup on the delivery fee I could come pick it up myself. Or I could be charged the original 20$ fee that everyone else is charged and pay FULL price for the item or I could keep the clearance price and pay 40$ for delivery. So my one chance to respond after her rant I simply said about her having to pay workers to deliver furniture is--- She cut me right off said she doesn't need my advice and starts ranting again. So I hung up. I really like this couch and really still want to buy it but I refuse to put money in anyone's pocket who is going to treat ppl like that and make up frivolous prices at a whim to get more money out of an item. If u felt u needed the extra 20$ then she should have added that to the clearance price. read more

Jayce gave me a great deal on a brand new dinner table with chairs along with some outdoor chairs and a nightstand. She delivered everything to my door free of charge. Unfortunately one of the nightstand drawers broke during the delivery however Jayce was quick to offer me a full refund. Will definitely be back anytime I need furniture. read more

My favorite place to look for a good deal. It's harder to find ladies workwear here, but with all secondhand places, you have to get lucky. They do have an excellent and well priced men's selection! Good selection of shoes as well. The people are always really nice and helpful as well! read more

This is a new version of the Eco-Groovy Outlet (I think) that used to be behind the Arcata Co-op. I have to say that even though this new shop is more expensive (no clothes by the pound), I enjoyed my shopping experience more in the new store. It seems like they are really sorting through things and only displaying better quality items. For example, the toy section at the old place was just a sad sort of box with toys often missing parts. In the new store, they have a smaller selection, but it's organized and actually has things in good condition. The new store is smaller overall and that may be why they're displaying just the top items. They do have special discounts on each day of the week, but they're not that stellar of savings (like 20%). Prices on women's clothes seemed comparable to other thrift/second stores in the area ($4-8 per piece). I think I will be back more for adult clothes than kids clothes. Even though they did have a nice selection of girl's clothes, there weren't a ton of 3T-5T, boys which is what I was looking for. read more

So, my family was visiting here from new mexico for my son's wedding a while back. I wanted to show them around arcata and also I was in the market for some work clothes. I found this store, I've never been here before. When we walked in, the place looked like a ghost town. There wasn't even anybody behind the counter. Walked inside to look around, still nobody in sight. I see a carhartt jacket up on the rack where I can't reach that I'm interested in, FINALLY the young girl in the company's picture to the far left came out and seemed seriously less than happy to be there. I asked her if she could please get it down for me... she replied with a sigh and got it down for me. After looking at it over, it had small rips and tears all over the thing.... and a $60 price tag... wow. She gave me a dirty look then hung it back up, and went back to texting on her phone. Kind of rude, don't you think? Definitely not a good representation of humboldt for my family. Overall I give this a 1 star. The hospitality was horribly rude, and there clothing mostly had holes and definitely were overpriced, so was there furniture. I could honestly spend a few bucks more and buy a brand new pair of carhartts. Maybe when you establishment shows some improvement, I will upgrade my review. read more

I stopped in to see what they had, as I remembered they sold used carhartt and usually had some decent hunting clothing as well. As soon as I looked at the price tag I remembered why I never bought much from them. 90% of their stuff is overpriced. There may be a few deals here and there, but not on any thing that is still in decent shape or name brand. Used Carhartt pants range from $26-34 for example. $225 for Danner boots. There were some stained beat up Carhartt painters pants for $12 dollars. The furniture store is just as bad. My wife bought a desk from there. She asked the guy working there what it was made of and he said it was solid wood. The price on it wasn't too bad ($45 I think) so she bought it. Well, it turned out to be a piece of particle board junk. If you want to buy into the reviews obviously written by employees then go ahead and shop there. Just be prepared to spend some money. read more
