This review is for the store and the health clinic. And first the health clinic: I have a good HMO but all of Chicago is out of network since I work out of state. So thanks to the HMO for shrinking the in-network every year for the past ten years! So, a visit to the ER can be expensive but a critical care is $40. So, the clinic is open at 9 am and I went in and was tested for strep by a super nice Nurse Practitioner and was back home with meds in an hour door to door. Now I went when they opened and the service was courteous and they helped a panicked mom find something for worms kids get (gross!) with a smile. I was so happy I didn't have to drop hundreds for a strep test and would happily go here for stuff my doctor can't handle when I see him out of Chicago. Highly recommended for basic health problems or for friends who get sick when visiting Chicago. With insurance the way it is, the prices even without deductions were pretty darned good. Now, if your arm has been cut off at the wrist, I suggest Northwestern's ER. Now the store: I'm so old I remember when this was the only Target around. Back then I drove all the way down from Lincoln Square through non-Gentrified Roscoe Village (and the long gone "Soft Rock Cafe" on Damen which sold breakfast for $1.25). Why drive down from Lincoln Square back then? People really do pay less for toothpaste in suburbs that have Walmart and Target fighting each other for your dollar. Yes it can be a Zoo and has been for over 15 years since the other newer Target is in Avondale (nicer) or down on Roosevelt (is there another?) and the west side Walmart is crazy. So, with Target you get the national prices they are putting out there to compete with the other big box stores and the small grocery section is ok. Tip of the day.... go at 9 am on the weekends when it is not too busy. If you're a guy girl watching go at noon when all the girls come for suntan oil before heading to the beach, but hey, that's creepy! read more

I came here to address a mallard issue. There are two mallards, one male and one female, that are known to frequent this parking lot. The CBCM have received frequent calls about these birds as people are concerned for their safety. These ducks have become highly domesticated and may endanger themselves by hanging out in a parking lot but are by no means helpless. They are as healthy as they can possibly be and and are able to flee in necessary. The reason they seem to be coming back to this location is because of a food supply. When I was there I saw a pile of bread that they were feeding from. So the rule of thumb is that if you don't want to put these birds in danger then don't give them a reason to come back. They only behave out of certain habits for food and shelter. As a community if we continue to aid them in these manners then we shouldn't be surprised to see such a dramatic change in these birds lifestyles. Don't feed the birds. read more

Target plays shell games with your money better then a boardwalk carny. Here is the issue we spent $120 on Target.com, we paid for $50 of the purchase with a gift card and the balance, $70 was put on a CC. When we returned one of the items, which cost $30 they refunded us with a gift card even though we had spent $70 of our own money. Giving us a gift card refund forced us to spend more at Target and them keeping our money. This accounting helps only Target and we where never given a choice of how we wanted our refund given to us. To correct the issue and get our money back, it took a 30 minute phone call and 2 trips to Target until finally the money was returned to the CC like it should of been. If you use a gift card and your purchase exceeds the gift card amount and pay the balance with cash or CC split your order up into different purchases. Don;t let the man take advantage of you and try and keep you down. Power to the people!!! read more

Saw this gorgeous table and I wanted two of it. Asked a girl if she can check if they had another one in stock. She scanned it and sees it's available but tells me that "it's ... Somewhere" Huh? "It's a new item, it's in the back but still boxed up..." Okay... "It'll be hard to find" "I'm just starting to unload all these new stuff" as she points to other items she's putting up on the shelf. I'll be honest here I was worried when I moved and had to find a new Target. My previous Target I had dubbed "Hot Girl Target" because of the almost guaranteed copious amounts of hot women that frequented said Target. I've only been here twice but this one is officially dubbed "More Hot Girls Target." Thats right it actually beat out my previously set bar of hot girls at a Target. YES. Anyway onto the actual store. Typical layout that should be familiar to any regular Target shopper, easy to find things and the staff that stock the shelves here are particularly helpful and engaging. Not in that annoying way that sometimes people like that can be, in that perfect timing noticing when you're looking for something you can't find sort of way. The gentlemen that helped me not only pointed me in the direction of where I needed to go but walked me to what I was looking for and practically grabbed it off the shelf for me. Great! Only negative was the the registers were pretty busy but they dealt with that as best they could and called all available personal and handled things rather quickly considering how many people were there at the time. I'll be coming back to this Target for all my Targety needs! read more

It's a Target. You basically know what you are going to get. This is one of the few locations in the city so it's always a zoo. The only plus to me is that they have a large parking lot. The last few times I've been, I've found that they have zero selection. You want a kitchen sized garbage can? Here is the only one we have. You want men's undershirts- here is the one brand we carry. I am sure I will continue to go here for things I can't find anywhere else but I much prefer getting most things at my local Walgreens. read more

I have a love-hate relationship with this Target. The hate pretty much comes from the fact that there are always WAY too many people there. I can't even seem to push my shopping cart around. Then, once I navigate my way to see what I'm looking for, they're out! Ughh... But, it's really the only discount store of it's type in the area. My drea? Despite what people believe, all Targets are not created equal, and this is definitely my favorite one in the city. The layout makes sense, the aisles are all pretty wide (so no crashing!), I hardly ever see anything out of stock, the employees are friendly and helpful when you have a question, and the selection of products is great. The parking lot can get a little hectic at the busier times, so be on the lookout! The good news is that there are hardly any spots in the lot that are very far away from the door, and there is a free ramp next to the building for overflow. I try not to park in there, though, because there isn't a door directly into the store. You have to hoof it all the way around the building to the front to get in. read more

I had a great experience at the revamped Target today. I went in in a rush as usual, a lady arranging yogurt is the first employee I see. "Excuse me, ma'am, would you happen to know where to find hand-held weights?" "Umm...in the sporting goods section, they are by the sporting goods". "Hmm...do you know where that is? Even the general direction?" "No, but I will radio someone for you." So she radios, no one answers, I say, "It's okay I'll go roam around and find them" She says, "I can walk you over there." I refuse because she was working with the yogurt and thats not really fair, but then she proceeds to describe to me to the best of her knowledge where they are, "kind of over there, by the electronics, and if you turn right..." I totally got her. These are the type of directions I respond to. Aisle F2 wouldn't have meant anything to me. I wish I had gotten her name so I could call and express my appreciation for her attentiveness to my plight, but I didn't. Maybe she will read, even better, her boss will read. I know, I know, it's a Target. But I like this Target a lot. Especially now that they've re-designed the place and added the food, this Target is really nice, clean, and never super messy (I'm looking your way, south loop!) I consistently find great prices on pet food, toys and cat litter here and now that they have the food section...the prices there are comparable or lower than your local Jewel/Dominik's. Plus, you can pick up a cute shirt to wear too. Love it. read more

The biggest headache of this Target is getting there, getting in, and getting out. While I wish Target could control the clustereff that is Elston, I suppose I can't knock them down for that. But I can knock them down for never having enough cashiers, or seeming to always be out of stock on certain items. But for the most part, this is a pretty solid Target. The food section isn't as large or expansive as the South Loop location, but it has all the basics you can expect from Target groceries. For some reason, however, the layout always throws me for a loop. Just make sure you've taken your double dose of Xanax for the day before you go and you'll be fine. read more

There is always well-stocked shelves and the quality and cleanliness far surpass the other Targets in Chicago I've been to. I prefer the quality despite the zoo-like quality. I love Target. I love all Targets. I do not love this Target. The inventory is crammed together and the store layout is jumbled. It's as if they threw a bunch of shelves and racks together and viola! No dice, Tar-jay. I need space and the clutter makes me feel too uneasy to shop. This is one of two Targets that are close to my apartment and I have dubbed this one "the bad Target." I rarely go to this location and will drive past it to get to "the good Target." read more

So one of the most disappointing things about Chicago besides the traffic is the fact there is literally NO Super Target in the city. I was shocked when I made this discovery. I come from a land where there are Super Targets to the left and right of me. That being said I really like this Target. I like it so much that I have gone 3 times in one weekend, that's right do the math. This Target is spacious and they have expanded their food section so it is sorta like Super Target "Lite". I spend a lot of time in their health and beauty section. Kudos for carrying Mizani Hair Products and Iman Cosmetics. I bypass the Target that is slightly closer to me for this location. It's a super busy location which means the store can be a mess. The bathrooms are always dirty. But what can you do, its Target and I need my essentials! This is the best Target branch I have ever been to! Their customer service is top-notch! Their staff is really nice, friendly, helpful, and attentive. They will greet you and smile at you once you enter the place, they will also help you to find the things you need, and also assist you around the place. Extremely impressed with their staff who really work so hard and fast. This place is full of awesome and quality items. Their place is well-stocked and organized. You can definitely find here all the things you need for daily essentials. They have meats, veggies, fruits, snacks, canned goods, dairies, beverages, and others. Everything at this place is worth every penny. All of their items are interesting and worth buying. You will absolutely love the whole place. It is so huge, they have big parking lot, and their departments are also big. They have a good ambiance and the whole place is really welcoming. Target is everything! Hello We are this Target store 2x a month, each time spending several hundred dollars. My mother asked one of the men in the Tech department with a black tech t-shirt and black hair and was a taller guy if they had iphones. After a pause the technician answered her back uhhh yes we have iphones. There was no reply back from the "tech" guy, no offering of assistance and no interest in making a sale...we then asked where are they? He then pointed with his finger and said over there. I then stepped in and asked where is over there??? He then stopped his conversation with another employee who was at some sort of end stand...and then got closer to the iphone to just point again. This is terrible customer service, it took longer to find some sort of management on the floor to address my concern only to be told that the Target Tech people are not Target employees and there is nothing he can do about them. He then asked me to fill out a survey and management will call me back. read more

As much as I would love to say that I hate Target and would rather shop at a small mom and pop store, the prices at Target are hard to beat and they have such a clean aesthetic when compared to other bargain superstores. This place is like crack, you know you shouldn't be doing it but at this point you've got no choice, it's taken over. It's crowded, yes, and whenever I go there I want to run people over with my wonky-wheeled cart but it's hard to find another place in the city where you can buy some graham crackers and a cheap bathing suit in one trip. One note - I bought some cream from the new refrigerated goods aisle and got a severe case of food poisoning after making a tart with the cream. Buyer beware! It's possible that a customer can pick something up from the refrigerated/frozen sections, walk around with it, change their mind and then leave it in a regular aisle where it spoils and then gets returned to the refrigerator. However, I wrote in a complaint and Target was very apologetic. They e-mailed me, sent me a letter, AND called me about the incident. read more

I have previously reviewed the Target on Addison so I thought I should compare it to this one. I found this Target to be much more pleasurable. The parking was better, the store was cleaner and the lay-out made more sense. It was pretty crowded and the shelves were a little lacking but nothing like the Addison store. I love Target and I always go to Target when I need a little pick me up..nothing like retail therapy. This will be my go-to Target from now on. read more

I despise going here, but at least they have everything I need. Parking is silly. Even driving there is silly. Approach this place from Western and park in the garage that doesn't connect (brilliant design, guys). That's the only way you'll find a quick spot. I will give them props for having a clean store. Normally I don't like to review chains or box but I'm really happen with my purchases here. I think the store is a victim of its own success. I went to Target on the Sunday before Christmas at 4:00 in the afternoon and have to say it was a pleasant experience. I got what I needed, some things I didn't need, I saved money and got out of there quickly. Parking: I usually park on the north side of the store along Elston. Even though this was Dec 23 there were multiple spots available here. If you want a spot right near the doors of course you're going to spend a little time hunting for a spot. Customer service: Even though it was crowded a woman on the floor typed my item into her hand held device and then went over and helped me look for my item. She even checked a different department. No complaints. Selection: They seemed to be well stocked on what I needed. I stumbled on their line of National Geographic educational toys. My cart was full and my Christmas shopping for the kids on my list was done in 5 minutes. And I got some of items for myself. Checkout: No problem, Dec 23, they had a lot of lanes open. One person in front of me. Groceries: Their store brands are rather innovative for store brands. The prices on the frozen, canned and packaged food items are great. For example, other than the PRICE - there's no difference in Amy's items from here versus Whole Foods. read more

Please teach your cashiers to recognize use of the coupon. Twice this month I shopped here and used coupons both times. Both times I told the cashier I had coupons at the beginning of the transaction and set them next to the credit card machine. The first time, the cashier forgot and said that I have to go to guest services. Stand in line again? Uh, thanks for the awesome customer service. So I went to stand in line for my $11. I talked with the manager too and she said that they could give the coupon refund at the register. So today the same thing happened...told the cashier about the coupons that she actually took and put next to the register yet she still forgot! No short term memory? She wanted to send me to guest services too. On a Saturday? No thanks. I said I was told that she could still refund the coupons there. She figured it out and gave me the cash. Now surely I'm not the only one who uses coupons. Heck, one of the coupons was a Target issued one. Why is this so hard? Tell me, why? Otherwise, this Target is the same as most. They definitely suffer from stocking issues more than most Targets. Addison is slightly better but I was at Riverpoint so this was the closer Target today. read more

I seem to be at this Target every two weeks. It's really hard to beat the Up and Away generic brand prices on baby formula and wipes. The food selection is great. But hopefully it'll become better. They have already started selling in bulk. The store is always clean, but always crowded. But lines up front are always open so I never spend that much time waiting. read more

This is one busy target... so don't hold your breath for medium-sized anythings. I ride my bike, so I can't complain about parking... but I do wish the city would fix the road right there. They told a young mom to breastfeed in the family bathroom. Nope and nope. I talked to the manager and he was less than helpful. When someone asks, "Where can I breastfeed?" the correct answer is: anywhere you please. If she wants privacy, offer her a fitting room for God's sake. No one should eat in the bathroom, especially not a tiny baby. And FYI, there is NO WHERE to sit in a bathroom but on the TOILET. Breastfeeding is hard enough without doing it sitting on the toilet. Not understanding all the bad reviews. Come on people, it's Target. It's the only one in the area and now they have fresh produce and meat. True, the produce prices are higher than a regualr grocery store and they don't have pears or grapefruits, but it's one stop shopping. Yesterday I bought Aveeno face lotion....Walgreens charges $2.00 more, Chobani yogurt (6/$5), bananas, socks, wine, etc. The staff can be slow at times, but with the money I'm saving I can certainly overlook it. It's walking distance from my apartment and across the street from my husband's health club so we will be back. read more

Who does not love Target. The pharmacy people are always really nice and fast. If they say come back in 20 minutes your rx is ready in 20 minutes. This is another location that you need to get in and out early! Once 10am hits the chaos insues. Crazy drivers and Crabby patrons. It is a recipe for a disaster! read more

A Target with a full selection from groceries, clothing, tech, home improvement, etc. You'll find the help you need if you ask a Target employee nicely! I really like this target, but the people in the parking lots need to learn how to drive. I was hit once while I was waiting for someone to back out. A person decided to back his car directly into mine and of course he was uninsured. I've had multiple "close calls" in the lot.
