Marvin from electronics was my hero today when I couldn't find anyone in the home goods area. I was there to drop serious cash on furniture but after looking for an associate for 10 minutes and not finding one, paging for help twice, and waiting about 20 minutes, Marvin finally came to help because nobody else was helping me. He paged for some items from the back and a flat bed to load the furniture on (that too another 15 minutes for them to bring), helped me order a piece they didn't have, and got someone to help me load it in my car (another 10 minutes of paging and waiting for someone to come). There was hardly any customers in the store so where were the other associates and why didn't they respond to any pages? Marvin seems to be the only one who cares about helping customers. read more

I only go to this Target out of shear convenience, and they actually have a parking structure unlike the location on State Street. The layout is like every other Target so things are easy to find IF they have it in stock. The basics are usually stocked up pretty well, but I waited over two months for them to finally restock a certain sized storage container that I finally gave up and ventured elsewhere. This store is huge and have a more complete selection than State. The lines at checkout usually move fast with the abundance of cashiers and self checkout kiosks. I love Target and the customer service at checkout is awesome, but they lack the security needed for this location. Be aware of your surroundings in the parking structure. There was a shooting in the structure recently and there are always random people parked in the lot just chilling. read more

I'm a frequent customer at Target. I love Target and usually get great service. I've been using the drive up for months and its very convenient. The only thing they have gave me a couple of wrong items. The first time I didnt realize until I got home. It was the type of toothbrush. The second time I noticed right away. I let the employee know this is not the right item. I showed her the 4 choices and the one I picked. She took the item back and Said she will go get the right item. She come back and said its just the box its not whats inside. I said it specifically says Tan pattern shade and I order cream. We went back and forward and she states its yours now. She said you can return it . This has made my trip super inconvenient now because I told her it was wrong from the start. Now I have to wait 24 hours to contact anyone or even return it. read more

NO CROWDS OR CUSTOMER SERVICE Target has really expanded in Chicago to obnoxious level. Target feels like Starbucks with a location on every corner. We stopped in here twice this past week and both times it was a ghost town. It seems like this breach of credit card information is really hurting them. I recently heard on the radio today that upper class and middle class shoppers are no longer going to Target anymore. I would have to believe the reports after visiting myself. This location is two stories with three levels of parking. Speaking of Starbucks there is a location inside along with a Pizza Hut express. I don't get the express version of Pizza Hut because that food is just sitting there. It would be better if I just bought a frozen microwave pizza from Target and cooked it at my office. I will never know if that's true because there is no way I'm eating either one of those food items. Target has everything you could need but I think there location expansion has saturated there brand. I use to go to the location on Elston near Diversey all the time because it was the only one around but since I've got 4 locations within a mile of me I don't even really care to go to Target anymore. The prices aren't great and the prices use to be amazing. There are no deals at Target. The customer service lady was kind of militant. She was a little rough on the customers prior to our time under the grill. There was no pleasant customer service hello. It was more like why are you returning this stuff because we need the money kind of attitude. Plus the lady behind us kept trying to get in front of us. She obviously doesn't like lines or does she think they are necessary. Since were talking about lack of friendly employees, the cash register employees were not that helpful or happy either. This store is in need of a managerial pep talk. Target is really going to need to do something to get back on track. Employees should be kissing some customer a**. Target lost the trust of the consumer and they need to step up their game but they haven't even made an effort. The store in the South Loop is not Target's proudest achievement by any means. Compared to Target stores in the suburbs, the South Loop location has a small, meager selection. Go there on a Saturday or Sunday and you'll find completely empty grocery shelves - I've never seen such a mad rush for lettuce and yogurt. But the selection is not my chief complaint: it's the customer service. What am I talking about exactly? Well, on more than one occasion I've waited at least 20 minutes to pick up photos from the photo development, while a dozen employees walked past me and met my eye. Is there something wrong with the walkie talkies that you prohibits you from putting out an APB for the photo department staff when someone's clearly waiting for service? On another occasion, I had a coupon for a free product - one of those things where the product didn't work and so the manufacturer offered a freebie. The cashier wasn't paying attention and entered the coupon value as $1.00 rather than the $8.43 it was worth. By the time I realized the mistake he had shoved the coupon into his little drawer and that was the end of that. (To top it off, Cheryl at Target Corporate offered to send a gift card as compensation for the error, and that never arrived either. Obviously I wasn't meant to use that product!) My favorite part of the shopping experience at the South Loop store is when I find employees shelving items while talking on or texting with their cell phones at the same time. I would hate for you to work too hard refilling those shelves. No wonder there's no yogurt to be found! There are few alternatives in the city, so you're probably stuck with the South Loop Target...at least you know what to expect! read more

I am absolutely impressed with the customer service! Friday evening and tired, I shopped for some bathroom mats along with a bunch of stuff including some b'day presents. Got home and realized after 3 hrs I had only 2 of the 3 mats when I was putting them in the bathrooms. I had thrown my original receipt but fortunately had my gift receipt for the gifts I had, went back asked them about my mat and they looked up In their system and didn find anything. I think I am spoiled as the Target stores out by me are well stocked, clean and have an abundance of people at the ready to help you find things. This one? Not so much. The pluses are the easy parking garage with access right into the store (although the elevator system had me a bit stymied as I tried to figure out that they open on one side to enter and on the opposite side to leave) and the friendly checkout people with a high number of open lanes. The negatives? This Target seems to be highly picked over with limited stock in certain sizes. And if you have a question- there is not a person in sight to help you out. This place is always busy. Even on a recent snowy, Monday night- which probably contributes to the stocking issue. But hey- it's in the city, it's location is convenient and if I am here- it's usually because I don't have a choice of another option. read more

This Target is pretty well stocked on everything, including seasonal items. I'm between this location and the one on State St. and I always come here to avoid crowds and find what I'm looking for. This is actually one of my favorite Targets. Today everything was going smooth until checkout. There were massive lines and as we waiting a young lady opened up her line. You could tell she had an attitude but hey I still was polite and wasn't going to let her spoil my day. As i was checking out I handed her my bag and she continued to ring my items. She rang me up scanned my cartwheel and then didn't bag my stuff. I wasn't in the mood to fuss so I just did it myself. My mother on the other hand was mad. Then after I finished she (the cashier) proceeded to bag the next persons items. This is where it gets ugly. My mother asked her politely if it was a reason she didn't bag my items. She gets loud with all the attitude she could muster up and says I didn't hand her my bag. Now I have to get involved. Excuse me miss you WILL NO talk to my 67 year old mother like that first of all, second it isn't my job to hand you my bag and to bag my own groceries, it that is the case we don't need you. She proceeded to yell at my mother while ringing her other guest. We went to speak to a manager to see if the policy had changed and if in fact we were in the wrong not handing her our bag but of course that was not the case. The manager was nice but clearly didnt have a hold on her staff. The young cashier proceeded to yell at my mother while we were talking to the manager. When I lived on the North side, I thought that Target off of Roosevelt was the bomb diggity. It was brand new and had a separate escalator for your cart. Well now it just a shit hole. Granted it has all the "Target" merch and the layout of the store is up to code with other Targets but the staff is beyond lazy. I wanted to wring several people's necks while returning gifts with friends from their wedding registry. First, all of the registry computers are down and no one seems to care about it. There are just tacky ass paper towel and notebook paper signs tapped to the machines. I would bet $100 that no one has even put a work order in to repair them. Second, the staff need a serious "come to Jesus" on their attitudes and work ethic. Staring at patrons while they are struggling to return items to your store is frankly unacceptable. One thing that I do miss is their own layout. Although I like that the makeup/cosmetics section has better lighting, it's just boring to walk through the paper towels/toilet paper section to get what you need. It's an adequate Target. It's neither fantastic nor terrible. They do have a parking deck for customers; however, it's located one (1) black west from the CTA Roosevelt red, orange, and green line station. I like Target because it's friendly to couponers like myself. They have the gift card deals frequently when you purchase specific products at a certain amount. Although you won't walk out with paying nothing, you have potentials to make some money back in a gift card form. Those gift cards are good for most items in the store at the next transaction. By no means, you can save them since they don't expire. Target also have a decent women's ready-to-wear department. I typically check out what they have as I'm getting groceries or household items. If you're not a hater to credit cards or suffering for bad credits, consider getting the Target credit card. You get to save 5% on every transaction. You know it's not a lot of savings, but it does add up eventually. I believe they do have the "Target debit card" if you prefer that. read more

I like this target. I like the multiple ample parking levels, accessible loop location. Some of the staff are friendly...They do run out of inventory...I-stopped shopping frequently there two years ago due to concerns with safety, politicizing ngo groups, like BLM and Antifa,etc, working,politicizing,roaming store,harrassing customers. 1st let me say that Krystal was not a part of the original complaint but she did help resolve this matter in the end and I received a refund for both items at the south loop store. Apparently, if you do not have a receipt, Target will give you merchandise credit for the latest selling price. The item I purchased/ at some point, went on sale but then returned to its original price. So even though the item was selling at its original price when I came to return, the system would only allow me the sales price because in Krystal's words, "we don't know when you bought it." Makes sense. nonetheless, I received full refund for both items. I'm satisfied. read more

The entire experience of this Target from start to finish is brutal. Let's face it, Tar-zhay is K-Mart afforded cachet for unknown reasons. I'll never get it. So, as I indicated, this Target is brutal as soon as you turn into the parking deck. The layout of the parking lot is simply too cramped. I only ever park on the first level once you get to the top of the ramp. I've discovered now that the best place to park is likely on the roof on the third level, if you can find the ramp up there. The reason that's the case is because you can walk directly into the store from the third level and avoid the elevator debacle. The second problem with this Target is the elevator situation. I'll never understand why they don't have notices by the elevator up and down buttons telling you which way the damn store is. If you're new, or an infrequent customer as I am, you'll probably press both up and down because how could you know which way the store is? Then, you play the game of getting onto the elevator and riding aimlessly until you find the store, which is similar to the experience you'll have once inside the store. Does it get any better once you step off the elevator and into the store? I'm afraid not. They changed the layout of this particular Target sometime in the last year, and it's not an improvement. The new layout is designed to confuse you, the paying customer (you fool!), so that you have to circumnavigate the entire store to find the items you want. You'd think something like shampoo would be right by the soap and other sundries, right? That's not the case. You'll have to wander into an entire different area of the store to find hair products. That's stupid. When I finally found the hair products, I took a quick gander and found the gel I use but not the right shampoo. And I decided I wasn't going to give them $13 for the gel since they made me look so hard to find it. I'll buy it at Jewel or a salon. If you're looking for customer service at this Target, forget it. I don't need to say anything further in that respect. Lastly, this particular Target is too much of a cluster**** to be worth a dedicated trip for things you can get elsewhere without the headache. It doesn't matter what time you go. I come here most weeks because unfortunately, I am a bargain shopper, and yes, sometimes Target's mac and cheese is just a little cheaper than Dominicks, so they win. Produce and meat are major rip offs here. Very small selection of both, also. You've been warned (ahem, buy meat at Dominicks in the value packs and produce at Stanley's). OK, here's the real 411 from a girl who's worked in retail since my college days. This Target, like pretty much all of them in the city of Chicago, are crap holes. Yes, crap holes. They are a struggling retail chain, just like the rest of 'em. Struggling to keep product flowing off the truck and onto the shelf. Struggling to retain and train a decent workforce (which this one is particularly failing at), and struggling to keep their store clean, merchandised, and presentable. I feel for them, I really do. HOWEVER, as a former retail manager, I gotta say, many of the woes of this store have to do with the management of this particular store and their lack of holding their team accountable. Here are just a few juicy little tidbits I (yes, me, a CUSTOMER, NOT a MANAGER of this store) have witnessed in my weekly shops: 1. Two team members talking about a football game in the aisle over from me and using the F*word repeatedly to describe a play in the game. Why were they "zoning" an aisle together at the same time? Poor management and lack of follow up. 2. A male employee having at least a 5 minute conversation with a female employee about getting her phone number to put in his cell phone (all while he is leaning on shopping carts near the entrance of the store). They pulled their cellphones out on the sales floor and all. What a waste of payroll. 3. Many employees expecting me, the paying customer, to move myself out of their way without them even asking or muttering a word. Yes, something needs to be done about these employees and many others I haven't mentioned. Oh, and I don't even bother going to the Starbucks in here anymore. 10 minutes seems a little excessive to make a couple drinks, don't you think? I can make my own at home in 2 minutes for a whole lot less and without the snotty attitude. I mean, come on, you work at Starbucks, you are being snotty because....? Yes, the parking lot is a mess here if you go at the wrong times (weekends, holidays, etc). I have almost gotten into a crash on the 2nd level on the south end trying to get out. I have also seen plenty of people scrape the side of their cars on the cement pillars - so watch out, all you bad drivers out there. Those pillars must come out of nowhere! Honestly, I'm not a fan of Walmart either, but if Walmart was even remotely close to this Target...let's just say it would be bad for Minneapolis. read more

I use to love going into this Target, as it was very convenient to get to from Harold Washington Library, but after an incident in late August 2010, I have made the decision to never want to step foot inside this place again. What happened was, I received a free gift card for Target from Lifesource after donating blood at the Monument of Faith church on the south side on July 17, 2010. It was my first time ever donating blood, and I was very proud of the accomplishment. When I used up the remainder of the card's value, the bitch cashier threw it in the trash! It is reloadable and I never had to throw away a Target gift card! I asked her to return my card, she said, "It's in the trash now. You need to get a new one!" You freakin' lazy slut! That card meant soooo much to me! And the jealous, miserable ho threw it in the trash! And she had the nerves to look at me with a smile on her face as she saw the angry look on my face as I grabbed my bags and stormed towards the door. Stupid ho (yes, that's what she is, not a whore, but a ho) did that mess on purpose. A Target with groceries is not a Target. It is a SUPER TARGET! Lovely amounts of produce, lots of meats and cheeses, fancy olives, your garden variety packaged meats, frozen goodies, coffee, adult beverages, etc. Heads up though, on a Tuesday morning the shelves are bare so I'm guessing they restock mid-week. It's still Target, so it's still kind of a cluster at the wrong times of days and weeks, but it's two floors and everything is laid out with enough room to get past the crowded masses. The service here is crappy, for the most part. The employees seem to really dislike working here and they're so apathetic it's ridiculous. I recently lost a credit card somewhere in this store and as I frantically searched through the places I'd been, I spoke with a guest services rep who literally rolled her eyes at me and mumbled responses. What really makes me mad, though, is the CVS. I was SO excited to have a CVS here. It's so close to my apartment, I'd no longer have to walk almost mile to get to my closest CVS. So, with a terrible bacterial infection, I dropped off a prescription for antibiotics here and waited excitedly. "It'll be ready in 20 minutes" the pharmacist told me. "You'll get a text message." I browsed through target. I shopped a little. I waited. No text. After 50 minutes, I went back. By the time I finished waiting in line, it'd been an hour. No text. "Is my prescription ready?" I asked the pharmacist. My illness was starting to get to me and I really needed to lie down. "Oh...yeah..." She said, not looking at me. We don't have that antibiotic. --So, I'd waited an hour and nobody could have called me from the pharmacy to tell me this? So I could go somewhere else? They have my contact info. The pharmacists at other CVS locations have done this before.-- "Okay," I said. "Did you check with any CVS locations nearby to see if they have it?" "Uhhhhhh" she responded. "No. I can now. I guess." --Shouldn't this have been the first step??-- "Can you call the CVS at 520 S. State please?" I asked, trying to not be mad. "There's no CVS there" she said. "Yep, there is, that's the CVS I usually go to," I responded. She continued to argue with me and try to send me to a CVS in the loop until I literally pulled up the address and phone number of my normal CVS on my phone for her. She called them with none of my info ready. I had to give her my name and birthday for the fourth time. She put the phone on hold and chatted with her coworker about their friends. They made jokes. She accidentally deleted my prescription and had to retype it in. This process took about 30 minutes and was a complete waste of my time. I eventually ended up walking to my old CVS to get my prescription and there I will stay. The walk is worth never having to deal with the total incompetence, apathy, and, frankly, idiocy that I experienced at this CVS. read more

Target and I have this crazy love/hate relationship going on. I hated them at first, but then I grew to, well tolerate them. They were convenient and cheap, and then they added groceries. Okay they won me over, food, booze, dvds, music, clothes, all under one roof. What's not to love? We visit this particular Target once a week and unfortunately it's been crap as of late. I understand that stores are busy during the holiday season but it's no excuse. Product all over the place, Target not honoring prices, I even overheard one associate claim that they didn't carry gift bags or boxes when I had just seen them an aisle over. There was also another time where security was parked in the handicapped space, real classy. Needless to say I'm back to disliking Target, at least this one. read more

Pretty cool and safe location to shop, but the employees are not customer focused. Three things to keep in mind: 1) They sell a large selection of pre-made and pre-seasoned food. They don't have a large fresh section, so while they may sell food they are not officially a 'grocery store' to rely on. Target is not a good place to go to buy all of your food - unless you want glaze and breading all over everything. 2) I know the city of Chicago came up with the brilliant idea of reusable bags, but when I'm in there I rarely see anyone bringing their bags into the store, do you? Target created these thick bags - thicker than most reusable bags so it's a shame to throw them away. 3) The store is typically clean, but the employees aren't going out of their way to help anyone. It's not unusual for them to announce they are on break or call someone else to do it over their PA system and of course no one responds. 4) There's a hot item on sale - trust me they are out of it! It's a large store, but apparently they are either running out of items faster or the employees are too lazy to look for the item in the stock area. 5) If you are in a hurry and want help your best bet is to go to the electronics section! The employees in their electronic section are the ONLY employees that they have trained to help you until a problem is resolved and I'm going to guess this is because the electronics department sells big ticket items. If I want a certain tee shirt and can't find it I will go to the electronics department and ask for help and they will call until they find the right person to track down the item - yay so excellent - yet still a shame it has to get to that point, right? 6) The pharmacy is terrible! From losing prescriptions to not keeping track of inventory to know what arrive and what was scheduled to and didn't - this is a spot to avoid. I'm wondering aren't there laws in place that require them to keep track of the medicines they receive? read more

I should start this review by saying that I've always loved Target. In high school, my friends and I used to hang out at Target (a different one - I don't think this one existed then). So this review makes me a little sad. Anyway, on to the review. You'd think that adding an expanded food/produce section would improve this Target. You'd be wrong. Since they didn't actually add any extra space for this, they took space from other departments. This means that now if you're, say, working a home improvement project, you now have to go to at least 3 different sections (definitely on both levels of the store) and you probably still won't find what you're looking for because they actually carry less products now. I could go on, but why - you get the point. It went from being a decent Target with a slightly too small clothing department to a pretty crappy Target with an even smaller clothing department and too small everything else departments. I FOUND A HUMAN HEAD IN AN AISLE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that I have your attention, I'll abuse it. This is a Target store, like pretty much every other. I walked here from my office to pick up some goods for an event we were sponsoring. I dislike the two floor layout as a rule because of my habit of wandering around at random, picking up things as I see them. When there's two floors I can only wander around one floor for a while, then the second and more times than not I'll remember something on the other floor I want and head back, wasting precious wandering time. There's nothing particularly heinous about this Target specifically, nor anything that stood out. The cashier was the standard dull-eyed teenager mindlessly passing my items over the scanner and announcing my total. I did get lost leaving but that was due to my own stupidity and apparent lack of reading comprehension and basic map navigation. Go to Target, buy crap and move along. I wish I didn't have to give this Target any stars... This is strictly based on the Pharmacy. I recently moved from Minneapolis and needed a prescription transferred. Unfortunately, I chose this Target store as it is insanely close to my work. I don't believe I have ever encountered worse customer service in my entire life. It took over an hour to pick up my ready prescription and check my insurance the first time I came in here. How is that possible? Besides that the people I encountered "over-the-counter" (get it?) were awful, rude, and acted as if I was wasting their time. So I thought, maybe this is just a fluke. It was 5pm on a Thursday and they were busy. Wrong. Second time I went to fill my prescription they didn't have in on file. Apparently the insanely smart staff didn't write that I got automatic refills. They said they would call my doctor and confirm it with them and that it should be ready to pick up in a few days. Wrong. I ended up calling my doctor after they still "hadn't heard back from her" and she said no one from Target had ever contacted her. They straight up lied about it. So instead of serving the customer, I had to get it all worked out myself because they apparently couldn't handle it. It's not only the issues but they are blatantly rude when working there that really turns me off. I will come in here for shopping, but I will never ever ever in my life come to this pharmacy ever again. read more

This Target blows. They are always out of everything I need; i.e. no long underwear in the middle of January. It's also the most poorly organized store ever; nothing is ever where you'd think it would be. Adding insult to injury, the place is a real moron-fest, full of idiots wandering aimlessly, trying to push their shopping carts down escalators, etc. The parking situation on weekends is laughable, you will literally drive around for 20 minutes battling with other angry drivers waiting for a spot to open up. DON'T GO HERE. Since they never have anything you'd expect a Target to have, might as well just go to Walgreens (or drive to a better Target). read more

I have to agree with Caroline A, most Target stores are the same to me. The one on Addison is closer to my house but since I don't drive it takes forever on the Addison bus. So I usually just take the red line to roosevelt and walk a bit over the bridge which I don't mind. Seriously though, I mean if I can go to a place and get 3 boxes of good Kashi or Reeses Puffs cereal, deodorant, socks, boxers, toilet paper, mouthwash, blank CDRs and a couple of other things that were on my list from yesterday for under 50 bucks you let ME know. Granted things of at least good quality. I was never a fan of Kmart. What does that K stand for anyway? Target is cool and I can find good quality stuff for cheap, so I am down with that. read more

Great store unless you're looking to get fresh produce, a lot of the vegetables obviously haven't been stored well considering the rotting items you can find if you look for more than a minute or two. Be safe and put your money towards packaged food at this location or risk getting sick. read more

It's strange to me that Target qualifies as a "department store" ... but whatevs. This store is convenient, as it's just a few blocks off the Red Line. I know a lot of people who live in the Lincoln Park/Lakeview/Uptown area hit up this target because of it's location on the Red Line, but when it comes to Target, this store is the lowest rung on the Target quality ladder. Every time I go here -- no matter what time of the year it has been -- everything is picked over and poorly stocked. I once went to this location to search for a wedding gift and after printing out the list could not find a SINGLE ITEM on the list. It was ridiculous. The purses are always picked over, too. My other beef with Target is that their women's plus size section is completely shafted. This location has a worse selection than others, but seriously. Give us larger ladies a little love, damnit. As for me, I'll hit up the Target on Western, even though it's completely out of the way and quite a trek, I prefer the quality, the cleanliness and the selection over this one. So this is MY Target (pronounced Tar-jay) - the one closest to me now that I have relocated into the West Loop. And although there are some drawbacks to this location (I love me a SuperTarget), it's by far better than the one on Elston because a) there aren't a million moms and strollers to navigate around at any given hour of the day (no offense moms, much love to you and your little peeps) b) they usually have what I want in stock because it's not really overshopped-yet c) for whatever reason I feel this one is easier to navigate. A word of advice- if you want to park, do NOT go on a weekend- it's absolute mayhem, and when Bessie and I are tooling around the lot trying to snag a space it's even worse (Bessie is my giant 4-door Yukon- don't mess). What makes this Target really cool is the special cart escalator. I've never used it myself, but I love watching other people's carts travel up and down alongside their users. Other than that, I really don't care for this particular store. The two-floor layout is challenging to navigate (if you're used to a typical single-floor Target). Additionally, I've never had an employee greet me or offer to help me find items. The employees are okay - neither rude nor overly friendly. The cleanliness is also okay (not exceptional nor repulsive). I've walked there and driven there. I'd say it's easiest to drive, park in their garage, and enter through the elevator. When I approached on foot I was confused about how to enter the store. On foot I still had to go into the parking garage and enter through the elevator. read more
