I already like Target as a general rule, so it's not like Target has to try that hard to pull at least adequate marks from me. But this one just isn't trying. The place seems to be chronically understocked in the women's clothing and shoe department, as if things are in a perpetual state of seasonal clearance wherein only the hugest and tiniest sizes are left anywhere. It's also practically impossible to find a coherent staffer when you search fruitlessly for something on your own and need directions. Would you believe I left empty handed after coming in just to buy fridge magnets and asking two different employees where to find them? I'm not generally the type who needs any help finding things in a store, but they didn't seem to have them. Which seemed really strange for Target! Apparently they exist, but I think it's a legend. Oh, and while the location may be convenient for those in the general neighborhood, shopping here is not. Maybe it's just the time of day I tend to come in (mornings/afternoons/evenings) but they never seem to have more than two checkstands open, and there are almost always massive lines. A 15-20 minute wait when almost no one has a full cart is pretty crazy. I've experienced much better from other Target locations. Sad day. read more

Yes Peeps it is a Baby Target it does not stock a lot ,but can almost guarantee to carry my hard to find whole wheat grain bread with seven grains . And it is a little store I really like that and less than a mile from my house one more star and yet another star for clearance items. Dang! Everybody's bagging on this Target. I love the catty reviews and I agree: it's not the biggest, newest, or nicest, the staff is pretty meh, the checkout lines are horrendous, they don't have the best selection and it's the Target I'm most likely to run into that certain someone I cannot stand. Hell, I even used to work here... Maybe it's mostly habit, as Wes says, it's one of the oldest Targets in Austin and it's near my Pilates studio, Tomlinson's, Central Market, Dan's, etc. As someone else mentioned, you can get to this location from anywhere in South Austin in less than 15 minutes, so that is why everyone in the world is always here. The Target in Southpark Meadows has to be closer and as I continue to get over my angst that SPM is no longer a music venue, I will undoubtedly visit this little Target less and less. Very accessible Target near the main highway 290 with pretty good customer service. The store layout is pretty much the same as much other Targets so if you've been to one, you basically know where you are going. The first thing you'll see is the aisle with all their bargain merchandise that go for $1, $2, $3, up to like $5. There are plenty of registers and self-checkout too. Also known as Targhetto. This is probably the worst of the Targets in town, and you know what's really sad? They remodeled it a few years ago. Yeah, that's a bad sign. I almost always walk in here (because it's close to where I live) looking for something and walk out because I didn't find it. How many times can you say you have walked out of a Target and didn't buy anything? Dude. That's insanity. Save your time and go to the Target Greatland just a few miles south. You'll find what you need and it doesn't reek of piss like Ahsley B. mentioned. Also, there's a Starbucks in there yo'. What's the first thing you notice when you walk into Target? Come on. You know but you aren't telling. It's the smell. What creates that smell and why is every Target store saturated with it? We go to a place like Target or Wal-Mart because we don't know where else to go. It's to us what Schwab's General Store was to people way back when. It's where we go when we need "stuff". This "stuff" accumulates until we need other "stuff" to organize it. A vicious cycle indeed. This weekend I wanted a mop, a bucket, floor cleaner, plastic bandages and paper towels. My debit card and I invaded. I had been to this Target a zillion times before and knew right where to go for the bandages and towels. Easy. I was thinking I'd be out in a jiffy. Then I went on the hunt for mopping supplies. I found mops across from the toy department. I guess they think if you have kids, you're going to need a mop. I had probably fifteen different mops to choose from. I just wanted a regular old fashioned kind, but they only had sponge mops, twist mops and roller mops. I like Chubby Checker, so I picked the twist mop. The buckets were in a big mess in the bin underneath the mops. It was impossible to figure out the price of the bucket without walking six aisles to the price scanner. The metal bucket with the Longhorn logo cost $24.99! If you have twenty-five bucks that you can spend on a bucket you can probably pay somebody else to clean your floors for you. Since all buckets do essentially the same thing, I picked the cheapest. Now for the fun of finding floor cleaner. Having it in the same aisle as the mops is too good of an idea, so I moved on to the cleaning supplies section and looked through it three times before I found two choices. After asking an employee for help, he found another aisle with four or five choices of cleaner. Six choices in two separate spots that are not by the products that you use with the chemicals. Brilliant. The employee was very helpful and apologized for his employers lack of common sense. He then told me to avoid Pine Sol, because he was allergic to it. He then excitedly moved into a story about how he passed out at a party from being to close to a candle he was allergic to. An entertaining performance which was the best part of my otherwise mundane, inefficient shopping experience at Target. read more

Standard Target. You know, soccer mom store. Lots of cute girls here...even though the area is a bit sketch. This location semi-saved me after a long night of Cinco de Mayo on top of Pecan Street Fest on top of The Kentucky Derby on top of the Fight. There I was, soaked from the night before, drinking a warm Gatorade wearing $7 sunglasses with the tag still on them, waiting for a cab outside. The Gatorades are on a shelf and not in a fridge (the normal pyramid Gatorades, not the Sobe super diet water nasty drink). This Target is right where the 290 and the 360 practically meet. Close enough to get either downtown or up the MOPAC without spending too much money. There's a Kerbey Lane cafe close by as well. Bring Mace...or keys between knuckles. read more

This Target is acceptable...good to have down the street from your house for sure. They seem to keep things well stocked - I've been a few times during this holiday season and the lines are always pretty short so YAY for that. I have to say though the grocery section is seriously lacking. I know it's not a Super Target or anything but most Target stores I have been to recently have more than 3-4 short aisles of food / pantry items. It was pretty disappointing actually. He was really rude and telling me to look for things myself, along with being unprofessionally dressed. I love Target. I love living near Target. Even the most squalid location (and I'm looking at you, one on Research Blvd) could never err enough for one star. Target is just so full of win. So, my BWT (Ben White Target) is a little oddly organized. So, each week a different cashier overrings my items, and each time it happens to be something pretty expensive--like a dress vs a pack of Orbit Mint Mojito. The dress is still pretty darned cute, and the customer service desk is very nice instead of distrustful. This week, my cashier rang up an extra bath towel. Instead of customer service just taking one towel off, they voided the first charge of $186 (I know, I can't get out of there for under $100, ever) and reran it without the extra towel. Some kind of new thing they do. I was suspicious. The next day, I had two almost-$200 charges on my card. Damn it! I called, ready to be mad at Target. Ready to call off the relationship. I told them that instead of just a towel they overcharged me now by $177, and I wanted it removed, immediately! I expected a struggle. I expected huffiness to match my own. I got sweetness! She explained so nicely that I won't see the void for a couple of days, but that it will show up. Made sure I hung up happy. So, a pretty crappy Target still gets 3 stars. read more

Went to target to get a few groceries, and was shocked at the prices and rudeness of the people. What is up with these yippes (yuppie/hippie) ? Went to get milk , eggs and bananas. Simple right ? First line I get in is moving so slow it takes 15 minutes to get 1 foot. I see a self checkout, and decide how hard could it be ? The machine totally freezes up, and then refuses payment. I get frustrated and them find out they want to charge me per banana. WTH ? Why not by the pound ? answer - we don't do that any more . Since when ? no response. I had to have someone help me with the stupid self checkout 3 times, and then the clerk starts some stupid argument with me over the bananas. I like going to this Target since it's close to my house. I go here often but I've never had a person treat my boyfriend and I the way we were treated today. We went to Target to pick up a few items for our upcoming trip. We went to checkout where an older (over 50 y/o or so) Caucasian male was working. He was checking out the Caucasian couple in front of us.... smiling, laughing, and super friendly. As soon as it was our turn, we said "hi" to him and he didn't say anything back. He refused to give any kind of eye contact. We finished paying and I said "thank you" (my mom raised me to have manners and to be respectful). He didn't say anything back. He just glanced at us and then turned around towards the register. I know some people have bad days but that's seriously the worst experience I've had at this Target. read more

So how do you truly rate a Target location? I have shopped a many Target stores in my lifetime and always thought of them as the middle class Wal-Mart. Granted I never feel dirty when I leave a Target or that I am giving my money to people that don't even get paid enough to get company insurance.. So Anywho this location is small, and a no frills location. I ran in tonight to get me some school supplies and it was a quick experience. The cashier was nice and generally when I go to this location I can eventually find someone to help me. the store clean, has a small food section to buy popcorn or "food".. This Target is mostly meh. It has your old school concessions but no Starbucks or Pizza Hut like some of the newer locations. Customer service is routinely understaffed, and the bathrooms are not so phenomenal either. But, it's one of a few Targets in town so on top of that, you'll get to wait in a crazy line most of the time! read more

Target is my answer to the evil empire. I refuse to go to Wal-Mart, I have only been there once in the last 7 years. Target on the other hand is pretty good. This particular Target is pretty standard. I do like the $1.00 bin right by the door. I have not purchased grocery items here since they did the expansion but the selection looks decent. Good amount of options for household items and knick knacks. Video Game section is surprisingly decent. I rented a bicycle yesterday to run some errands around town and see some sights. Since it was sweltering, I decided it was a fantastic day to go to Barton Springs--but I'd forgotten my swimsuit, so enter Target. 'Tis the season for bathing suits, and they had a lot of them. I found what I was looking for, tried it on, and was out the door in half an hour. The real standout of this visit were the two staffers I encountered, Chris B. the cashier (who was jolly and kind) and the snack bar cashier (whose name I didn't catch), who didn't even balk when I accidentally dumped half my popcorn into the fruit basket next to the register. This Target is absolutely awful and I'm relieved that so many people agree with me! Unfortunately, I have to constantly go to this Target because it's so convenient and on the way from work to home. First off, it's ghetto. The reason why I go to Target and not Walmart is because I expect an establishment of higher quality but this is not the case. Also, this place is understaffed and/or the employees aren't doing their job. Now that I think about it, I'll probably go with the second assumption. There is always a long line with only 2 cashiers. This is definitely the Targhetto. There was a Safeway in DC (my hometown) that we called the Soviet Safeway, because they would always run out of basic necessities like bread and milk. The lines were always long and winding, like Soviet-era bread lines. This is almost the Target equivalent of the Soviet Safeway. So yeah, not well-stocked. Good news is, the employees are v. gracious and helpful, esp the ones who work in customer service. So this gets 3 stars. read more

Nicely kept store with a slightly busy parking lot due to all the neighboring businesses. It's nice to have an alternative variety of products which differ from those at Walmart stores. Seriously a nightmare. This has been my go to Target since I have lived in Austin and even after I moved further out I still choose to drive to this specific location. Over the last few weeks I've noticed it hasn't been the same but boy did I witness that today. I did a late night target run last night with my cousin and from 10:18 - 10:44 I lost my key cles wallet that I thought I put in back pocket. I back tracked over three times because I know exactly where I went in the store. Nothing, checked guest services, nothing. There was literally only 5 people in the store with me so Im thinking someone had to have pick it up maybe even an employee... the customer service told me I could call early this morning to see if their security team could review the footage since I knew exact timing. Called this morning at 10. The manager asked me timing and where I went. Never asked me about what I looked like or anything, which I didn't realize until after the phone call. Figured if I told him I started at guest services at 10:15 they would figure it out. Called just awhile ago, 6 hours later since no one has called me to check in. The guy at the customer service told me they saw nothing. Which I thought was crazy because I know I dropped it in there. I asked him how did they even know to follow me if they didn't know what I even looked like or what I was wearing. He then said he would check with security, comes back to say they are really busy he doesn't know when they'll get to it but he could take my description and I said that's fine I'll call everyday to check because now I'm really annoyed at the process. He then hangs up on me.... I was in total shock. If I didn't have all my cards and to my stupidity my baby and my social security cards because I forgot to take them out I wouldn't even care. But I know for a fact someone picked that wallet up. I think as a long term customer at this location I deserve them to thoroughly look through the footage! This place is actually so good at what they do that I made my boyfriend return a bag of cat food so that I wouldn't be tempted to shop. Their delivery service is pretty good, but not as amazing as Amazon. Then again, whose is? We ordered cat food online and one bag was compromised, so we returned it. If I could give their online ordering 0 stars I would. 3 weeks ago I was excited to order 3 different bar stools for my new home to see which would be the best fit for our bar counter! Now 3 weeks later I have spent over 2 hours on the phone with Target.com and an additional 1 hour on the phone with FedEx because between the two of them it seems very hard for them to get anything right. My 1st order placed on Target.com never showed up, I didn't receive a confirmation email and it didn't seem to go through...except the charge certainly went through and was pending on my Amex. When I called Target.com they spent nearly an hour trying to find out if my order did in fact exist only to be chalked up as an 'error' they were experiencing at the moment online. They said that if I didn't receive a confirmation email from them within 48 hours it was safe to say my order didn't exist. So I did just that and waited 48 hours. 48 hours and no email, so I called Target.com just to ensure that in fact my order still did not exist due to the online 'error' they were experiencing. I was again assured that there was no such order and my money would be un-pended by my credit card company soon & to replace my order. Well I again listed and did just that...so confident in Target.com! I placed my order again. 2 days following I get a ton of emails stating that things were being shipped out to me. I was excited! Until I looked closer and saw that they were shipping things x2 and all 1 at a time. Come to find out my order that didn't exist, existed. After another long phone call having to speak to many different people I was told that they couldn't refund this order that now existed and didn't before b/c it had already shipped! Instead the money would stay pending until they could physically get the merchandise back. You're kidding me right?! Long story short, we're now 3 weeks later and I have 1 lone bar stool. The other 2 will never come. Why you might ask?! Oh, FedEx tells me that is b/c they wanted to deliver them but Target asked for them back. Target tells me that FedEx failed to deliver them after 'multiple' attempts (ahem, I live in an UN-gated community that is FULLY accessible and a large doorstep for all the packages imaginable to be left!!!). Morale of the story, I'll not ever be shopping at Target.com and quite honestly I could care less to step into a Target store period. Would have been a good price to shop if it hadn't been for the deceptive "sales" and salespeople. The book I bought clearly says 30% off. Online this book is $17, even on targets website. I checked out and asked the cashier about the sale price, because it didn't ring up on sale. She kept telling me it discounted the book. I couldn't see it on the receipt so I asked another associate. He couldn't see where they discounted the book and told me to check with customer service. A girl there said "yeah, we have deceptive sales stickers". And then told me how it's supposedly 30% off the normal price at other places. Obviously false, since everywhere else is cheaper. Why trick people into buying your product? Target has actually improved in the last few years. They increased the size of the store and actually I can't tell if the new layout is better or worse. Over the years, I had sort of got used to the weird old layout, so now the new layout actually throws me off. Lol. The best improvement is that they have consistently started opening more lanes of checkout. They still don't often have an express lane, which is annoying. The bathrooms are often not very clean, so there is definitely still room for improvement. I have returned quite a few items and other than that one time which I mentioned in my original review, haven't had any problems. I think the problem was due to a new employee not knowing what she was doing. read more

While this is one of the two oldest Target locations in Austin, it's still clean and has expanded to keep up with the times. I stopped in to pick up some soft drinks for the office. The store was well-stocked and not picked over. Plenty of checkouts and my checker was super friendly, even going out of her way to scan the purchases in the cart so I didn't have to move them. Absolute worst experience with a department store that I have ever had, I went into the store on Monday 11/26 in an attempt to buy a 70" tv that was promoted during their cyber Monday deals. Upon arrival I spoke with an attendant in the electronics section to request the purchase of the tv. I asked if I paid for the tv, would they be able to hold at guest services until I could return later that evening with a truck. I explained that unfortunately I was only on my lunch break and was in a car. He spoke with a manager who said that they could not do that because it was a "liability" for the store to hold a purchased item, however offered to hold the item so that I could return later to purchase. I returned later with a utility van that I rented specifically for the purpose of buying the tv, only to arrive and be told that the tv was sold to someone else. I could not believe that they had sold the tv even after I was specifically told that it would be held for me. The manager on duty at the time explained to me that there was nothing they could do and that the tv I was there for was not available at any other location....they offerred me 20% off a smaller tv, which pretty much meant that I was only getting an additional 5% off the already discounted 15% from cyber Monday. I had already rented a utility van and had no other choice but to settle for something I didnt really want In this "take it or leave it situation." I have shopped at target for years and have only had good experiences up to this point. I expected more from a company that prides themselves in their customer service.
