Almost a hidden gem at 4th Street, smack between a very busy Little Coyote and a concept shop you can almost miss this quaint Italian restaurant. But when craving for a good, hearty, Italian meal then this is the place to go. Rating is more of a 4.5 than just a 4. Portions were big and very much worth the $. You can never go wrong with their Calamari (perfectly crispy, crunchy and the marinara dip is on point), Eggplant Parm (its hard to make a good eggplant parm and they cooked the eggplant so so well), Papa Tony (this is where the -0.5 comes from, it was just meh, it was ok but not great, it was a little water-y and didn't taste much even if it came with spicy sausage cuts in it), and last but definitely not the least their Tiramisu (so good and not at all cloyingly sweet). They have a pretty comprehensive menu so we'll be back to try the other pasta dishes, for sure. And do not sleep on their compli fresh bread, so good and came out warm and was obviously home made. Tarantella on 4th borderline scammed us on Valentine's Day. We were excited to have dinner here, but we will definitely NOT be returning and neither should you. Here was our experience with it: Why we chose this restaurant - My partner and I were initially attracted to this resturant because of their menu options, specifically the well-known cheese wheel pasta. Plus they had reasonable prices, outdoor patio seating, and live music. We made the reservation in advance through Open Table. There was no prior mention of a special pre-set Valentine's Day menu or price. Experience - We got no proper greeting or introduction to the pre-set 4 course Valentine's day menu and its prices. Our server was not very informative and made us feel a bit bad about being confused at times. The ambiance was chill but nothing extraordinary. The back patio where we sat was absolutley packed, we were practically sitting elbow to elbow with the couple next to us The supposed live music that initially attracted us to this restaurant didn't start until about an hour and a half into our reservation and was just one man playing the saxophone along with a karaoke track, playing inappropriate songs like "Tequila" Menu - When we were seated we were pointed towards a QR code on the table which took us to an online PDF of the Valentines Day menu. The structure of the menu was unclear as we still were unaware that it was a pre-set 4 course menu. Additionally there were absoluety no prices anywhere on the menu (major forshadowing). Once we finally understood the 4 course menu, we didn't think to ask about the prices, assuming they would be somewhat similar to the regular menu prices, prices that we had looked at prior to booking this reservation. Food - We had several issues with the food starting with the fact that the food descriptions on the menu were unclear and did not match what we were expecting to receive. All of the food was mediocore and seemed like they had prepped some food items well in advanced. For example we were given a basket of cold bread with two pre-packaged slices of butter, and when we asked for oil and vinegar we were given a closed to-go sauce container filled with a wacky ratio of oil and vinegar. Our entrees were also bland and served with no fresh ground pepper or grated parmesan. Prices - There were ZERO prices listed anywhere on the menu, their social media, and the reservation platform nor were they told to us in person. The only cost related item made known to us was a notice at the bottom of the menu stating that an automatic tax and 20% gratuity cost would be added to every check. This was pretty upsetting considering that gratuity of that percentage should be earned not expected, and the service definitely did not earn a 20% tip. When we got the check we were absolutely shocked to see a total of $235. We were genuinley speechless. We did not order any drinks, so with the fixed $90 per person plus the 10.25% tax and automatic 20% tip, $235 was the absolute lowest anyone's bill could've been that night. We did the math: Had we come on a normal day, ordering all that we had on Valentine's Dạy, plus tax and the tip we thought the service deserved, our total would have been about $113. That's $122 less than the price we had to pay last night. An over 50% Valentine's Day up-charge is disgusting. As I mentioned before, not once were we informed of this absurd pricing until we got the check. Management - When we went to speak with the manager to confirm this total and make sure there wasn't a mistake, we were met with immediate defense from her as she insisted the price was on the menu. After showing her the menu its lack of pricing, she continued to insist that the price was listed somewhere on the website. She then proceeded to spend a minute or two on my phone struggling to navigate their website until she found the page on which you had to scroll all the way to the bottom, where a small red tab had the price per person listed. Her defensive and hostile attitude deterred me from pursuing further complaints, so my partner and I paid and left extremely unsatisfied and disappointed. I'm surprised this spot doesn't get more foot traffic! La Tarantella makes all their food from scratch with high quality ingredients. My family stopped by for lunch on a Saturday, and we were one of the only parties there. We ordered the carciofi fritti (fried artichoke) and chicken alfredo flatbread. Both were really good and had good portions! We also had their frutti de mare and cioppino and the seafood was fresh and delicious! Their back patio is super cute and intimate, and the staff is passionate about their product. They have live music some evenings as well! read more

This quaint neighborhood Italian restaurant has been on my list to try for some time now and I'm so glad that I finally did. Reservations are recommended and be sure to give yourself some extra time to find parking. They have a small interior but I recommend sitting on the back patio which feels secluded and intimate, filled with trees. My friend and I were seated near the speaker so the music was too loud but it certainly added to the ambiance. It just feels like such a homey, family place here but one that would also be great for a date night. They serve Roman and Neapolitan style dishes and the menu is quite extensive. We started with the complimentary bread and the Calamari Fritti which was well executed. My main was the Pappardelle all' Aragosta, lobster and fresh tomato sauce with a touch of a cream. There was so much lobster in the dish, the pasta tasted extremely fresh and the sauce wasn't too heavy. I haven't seen this dish at any other restaurants so I highly recommend ordering it here. We couldn't end the night without dessert, and I selected the Cannoli which came with 3 mini versions and was delectable without being too sweet. We started off the calamari and we're pleasantly surprised at how crispy, zesty it was. Their pairing sauce was a great addition. My Ragu di Cinghiale was a savory meal. I devoured every single thing on my plate. My lady absolutely loved her tiramisu, and just loved it's plating as well. I being a lactose intolerant fellow had the mango sorbet which was just a delicious as it was fresh! The waiters here were very attentive. Honestly, the biggest waste of $259 :( . The workers were nice however, the price I paid for the meal I got felt very mediocre ! I went for Valentine's Day with a reservation. We were completely unaware of the preset 4-course meal/menu. When looking on yelp (how we found this place) and setting a reservation, there was no obvious indication of the set menu. I also looked at their instagram and didn't see anything. I had to search their website after our meal to see the flyer for it. We were confused by the menu at first but decided to stay (there were many people that left throughout our meal after they saw the menu). It wasn't until we ordered our meals and drinks that we realized it was $90 per person (we overheard the waitress tell a customer & it was not stated on the menu). After hearing that, we hoped the food would be worth it. The serving size was okay and the place is small. Here's the food we ordered + price breakdown: * 4 course meal for 2 $90 each person. - The appetizer and dessert is shared. * calamari 5.5/10 tasted very ok & similar to what u can get at an ordinary restaurant/ takeout place. * Caesar salad 3/10 tasted like the salads in a bag from the grocery store. * Ravioli di Bison 7/10 good :) but nothing special :( * Risotto Fantastico 7/10 good :), nothing special :( * lava cake 3/10 didn't get to try it because we forgot it but it was very tiny, the size of a small teacup. * Peroni beer $9: 8/10 * sangria $10: 8/10 * Tax 10.25% ($20.40) * Gratuity 20% ($39.80). My friend had her birthday dinner here, and the restaurant is absolutely charming! They have a huge outdoor patio in the back that transports you to Italy. The ambience is very romantic, with Frank Sinatra playing in the background. They were able to accommodate our group of five easily. The food was rather underwhelming, but maybe I ordered the wrong dish. I had the seafood linguine, which came with a mussels, clams, octopus, and shrimp. The seafood and pasta were cooked nicely. However, the flavor was bland and disappointing. A few of my friends ordered the papparadelle ragu, and it looked much more appetizing than my dish. AVOID!!! My boyfriend and I went for Valentine's. As another review stated, they did not tell us it would be a limited menu when we made the reservation. Nor was the price listed anywhere on the menu. Just the 20% auto tip. The "menu"- 4 courses: 1 shared appetizer (3 options), 1 salad/person (2 options), 1 entree/person (4 options), & 1 shared dessert (3 options). 1st, we were given bread served with pre-packaged butter. That was the 1st red flag. We then asked for oil and vinegar and were given a plastic ramekin of an oil/vinegar combination. No words. The appetizer- tuna carpaccio- it was served on a plate smaller than our bread plates. There were 4 tiny pieces of tuna completely covered with garnish shavings that totally drowned out the tuna. The salads- 2 tiny limp pathetic salads. The entress- salmon and chicken risotto. The salmon was ok, but the vegetables had a very odd flavor, which my boyfriend didn't mind, but I found them uneatable. And the chicken in the risotto was super dry. No fresh ground pepper or freshly grated parmesan was offered. The dessert- lava cake, which was more of a lava cupcake. It was literally enough for 2 small bites for both of us. And it was no lava cake. It was like a brownie bite topped with fudge. We left still hungry. Service- terrible. It took forever to order anything. Not even sure who our server was. The hostess who also might've been the manager/owner? She sat us down & only gave us a wine menu. We asked for a food menu, & she pointed at the QR code on the table. We had just seen printed menus at the counter, so my boyfriend got up and grabbed them for us. Literally 10 feet away. She couldn't just bring us the menus when she sat us or after we asked for them? I understand Valentine's is a very busy night, but don't overseat your venue if you can't manage the service. They had most of their seating in the back, where thankfully we did not sit. I peaked back there & people were packed in like sardines, sitting outside in the freezing cold, with some terrible loud live music. Not the romantic Italian atmosphere anyone would want on Valentines. At least the atmosphere in the front seating area was ok. Except for the random music (not Italian) they played from a bluetooth speaker placed on the floor right by the door. Cost- I didn't even know the cost until I read the other review that it was $90pp. $90pp for half of a tiny appetizer, 1 tiny limp salad, 1 entree, & 2 bites of a brownie bite. Let's estimate actual cost- $15 app, 2 x $15 salads, 2 x $30 entree, and $15 dessert= $120. Charged $180 = 50% Valentine's upcharge= RIP-OFF. My boyfriend finally admitted that dinner was $322, & we only had 1 bottle of wine that was $50. So I'm not sure how $230 in food and wine totals to $322. Either way, I don't mind giving 20% tip IF IT IS EARNED, which it wasnt. 20% auto tip- another rip-off. 1 of the worst dining experiences ever. Definitely hands down THE worst experience for that price. They literally had 12 items on the menu, & they didn't get a single one right. I can't even imagine what the food is like when they have to serve their full menu! I served in restaurants for 12 years. I know you can have an off night, or that an item might come out wrong, or that you simply don't like something. That wasn't the case here. Giving feedback in the moment wasn't really an option. Everything from start to finish, the cost, the auto tip, the service, the food, the atmosphere in the back patio, attitude/service from the hostess/manager/owner... it was all bad. The owners should be ashamed of themselves and need to truly re-evaluate what they're doing, because they won't last long otherwise. They probably ruined a lot of people's Valentine's night while costing people a lot of their hard-earned money. Highway robbery for a disgusting dining experience with terrible service. I'd go to Olive Garden 50 times before I'd step in this place again. There was a couple waiting outside when we left. We warned them "DON'T DO IT!" We hope they listened. read more

There's simply nothing wrong with this place except that they don't have a drive-thru. Every pasta is made fresh along with their sauces. The flatbread earns a million gold stars in my book and the service is great. Pronouncing the names of some of the dishes can be difficult but the staff never judges you and if you point to what you want they'll help you out. From the outside it doesn't look like much but once you get escorted to the back patio, you're transported to a secret little garden in some Nonna's backyard in Italy. It is the perfect date night spot with cute string lights and live music as well. The live music features one person either playing the violin or flute along to a track and they do have a top jar but don't make you feel uncomfortable if you opt out. The atmosphere was comfortable with a gentleman preforming live. My only warning is the tables are a little small. We didn't order a lot, but still had a hard time fitting the plates on the table. The food was pretty traditional Italian. They do start you off with warm bread that is light with just the right amount of texture along with a side of oil & vinegar. For an appetizer we had the caprese Di burial. It was fresh & healthy. For the the main courses we had the linguini de pescadore & lasagna. The linguini de pescadore was very hardy full of seafood including shrimp, clams, muscles, scallops, baby.octopus, & calamari served with perfectly cooked linguini in a tasty sweet tomato, wine, & garlic sauce. For $25.50 it seemed pretty reasonable. The lasagna was also very hardy and enough for two meals for around $23.50. My boyfriend played it safe and got the spaghetti and meatballs and regretted it, he said he should have ordered the special. The spaghetti was good but just not his favorite. This was our first time trying this place, and we're so glad we did! The staff was incredibly attentive and kind. The menu offers a great variety, plus tempting daily specials. We went with the Cacio e Pepe, and Spaghetti Carbonara absolutely to die for. We shared a bottle of Prosecco, enjoyed some great conversation, and soaked in the warm, welcoming vibe.
