Quality is very consistent even after years of going. If you've ever been to the location on Riverside that location is awful and I recommend just making the drive to this one. Their tortilla soup is my favorite thing so I always get it. It's super flavorful and comes with a plate of toppings. My boyfriend got the parrillada and it was so good. Damn it forgot the check in here bc I was a bit irritated. Went to get a burrito for a pal. He wanted car it as but they don't have that but al pastor is perfectly fine. Asked for the burrito only with queso on the side and green sauce. Everyone was nice and food came quickly but I noticed there was no side of queso. I assumed maybe they thought I wanted cheese inside so I unrolled the burrito and I didn't see any. I took it inside and let the woman at the counter know. She seemed a bit miffed. Dunno if at me for bringing it back or the kitchen but she did take it to them. The guy from the kitchen promptly brings it back saying there's cheese inside. At this point I'm over it. Found another Mexican restaurant that doesn't disappoint! This one leans more on the authentic side rather than Tex mex which is great! Small place off William cannon but very nicely decorated in the inside. Family ran and the food came quick! They have a big menu and we ended up doing a combo plate that lets you pick 2 meats. A great portion for under $10! Barbacoa, Lengua, beef fajita, el pastor...al delicious!! Parking is a bit small so I can't imagine if it gets packed. Will definitely return! read more

We went early for some breakfast tacos. They are doing a good job at social distancing and we felt very safe. The service was really good. The tacos were not my thing. Huge chunks of ham took over the tacos and the cheese was not melting into the hot taco. Overall it was okay, but why get these tacos when you have so many other better choices? read more

I decided it's about time to review taq Arandinas. It took me awhile to come here since the listed hours on Yelp are obviously wrong! The cashier told me they're open daily til midnight. The patrons were at least 95% Hispanic when I've dined twice. I've ordered to go as well. They are quick with to go orders usually taking 10 minutes or so. What I like: - rice and beans actually decent - The corn tortillas taste handmade which you can taste. I like the texture. -pastor, barbacoa and asada are good -huarache: like the thick patty topped with goods. -large quesadilla is good but I still like suiza style more (which they don't serve here) What is average/slightly below: -combo plate enchilada, crispy taco and flauta. The enchilada sauce was too mild and plain. The tortilla was a bit too firm. Crispy taco was fair. -chips and salsa. The chips don't seem made here. I like mine thick and crispy..its thinner and airy like almost. Their salsa game isn't on point..their pico de Gallo is blended for some reason and doesnt seem to have cilantro (Or a miniscule amount).. The tomatillo, which isn't offered when I order to go, is the best out of the three. It has a deeper flavor with less heat. The green is super spicy and that's all I really taste.. I have yet to explore more of the menu but I do appreciate how there is a wide variety ranging from plates to the typical taqueria fare. I'll be back. read more

A month ago there was a criminal who entered this restaurant with a gun and hid in the restroom. However, this restaurant should be vigilant and protect their customers specially after this incident. Today i was having dinner and someone entered the restaurant and refused to leave my table after insisting to sell me something. Nobody was guarding the front door putting customers at high risk of theft or other crimes that can happen. please take care of your customers and protect them. You should not allow for them to get harassed while trying to have a nice and peaceful dinner. In addition, servers are not friendly anymore. There is one lady that's very rude and makes faces when i asked her for more water and picante sauce. Please hire friendly servers. I've lived in Austin my entire life and Taquera Arandinas is a staple, even though it feels very underrated. The staff is always so, so genuinely happy and welcoming. I eat here at least once a week, and I always eat the same thing...which means, I don't have much of a review on the food other than the green chilaquiles with chicken breast and an egg over-hard, which are top-notch and absolutely amazing. I've gotten many friends hooked on them, because they really are a wonderful creation. I recommend them very much. Yes, I know what you're thinking..."You eat there once a week?" Yes. Yes, I do. Found my new favorite! Taquerias Arandinas came recommended and did not disappoint. As soon as you sit down, you're served with warm, fresh tortilla chips and salsa (which was admittedly a bit spicy for my taste). You're also served a sweet-and-sour type sauce and a spicy green sauce. I ordered the Burrito Dorado and it was soooo goood. Stuffed with shredded chicken, avocado, pico, lettuce even, and smothered with chili con queso and served with rice and beans. it was enormous and the tortilla was homemade and crispy. My boyfriend got the tacos and was drooling over the homemade tortillas and flavorful beef, peppers and cheese. Service was friendly and fast. You head to the hostess stand at the end to pay, and they have a robust to-go operation. They have an assortment of packaged Mexican pastries and candies to buy on your way out too. read more

This place is in my neighborhood, and it's GREAT! Now, I'm not sure it'll be my "fave"; I've got a place that I've been going to for over a decade now, and I'm sure some folks will agree, ya just get "comfortable" with the food at your favorite establishments (hey Vern, why do they call it "comfort food" anyway?). But it is maybe 5 minutes closer than my regular Taqueria and in the same price range: downright CHEAP. I thought it more expensive, like the "Taqueria Jalisicensa" place down the street on S. 1st (and elsewhere); probably why this was my first time in the joint. We had just gotten done with a rehearsal, and this was our first "official" (road trip? It was just about a mile), as a band. And our "groupies/roadies" (aka: Amber's roommates and fellow musicians). Too hungry, and too much conversation flyin' around to take any pic's of food. Jus' a couple shots of us (thank you, waitress). Everyone had something different, I opted for the Mole Chicken. Mole is possibly the most complex item in Mexican cooking. It usually involves Mexican Chocolate, but may have literally DOZENS of ingredients, melded into a complex mix of flavors that cannot be described here. When it comes to Mole, (generally speaking), most folks either love it, or don't care for it; there doesn't seem to be an "in between". I LOVE IT! So, I had the Mole Chicken, with Frijoles y Arroz (that's beans & rice go those of you even more Gringo than I), and of course flour tortillas, which I use to mop up the extra Mole sauce (don't know if that's proper "Mole etiquette", but it works for me). SIX BUCKS for this plate? Ay carumba! (probably spelled that wrong, but you get the idea) It was delicious! A quarter chicken (mine was leg & thigh), literally SMOTHERED in Mole. The Mole was awesome, and while I don't claim to be a "full" Mole expert, I've had my share, so feel somewhat qualified to judge. This was award-winning worthy Mole. The waitress never let us run out of Chips & Salsa, something some places don't pay attention to, after the first "plopping down". Salsa was tasty; not spicy enough for me, but restaurant Salsa never is (gotta please the "masses", and they can't take a lotta heat). I make my own at home, usually have some on hand in the fridge, but I use SERRANOS; no heat problem at mi casa! Yeah, I recommend this place, and will definitely be back. As I write this, I'm actually craving that Mole, right now, no lie! Like I like to say, ya gotta rate ANY place based on what it's "trying to be". Accordingly, I'm harder on a place that's trying to be upscale, high-quality, and expensive, if the quality doesn't live up to the hosing you get in your wallet. Taqueria Arandinas is trying to be just a neighborhood restaurant, serving great food, and an affordable price point. Not only have they succeeded, but they OUTDO some places that charge more for the same fare, but deliver less. When your expectations are exceeded, based on what you expect for the price paid, you got a WINNER. That's what ya got here. There are at least two other locations listed on Yelp, but I seem to recall seeing more than that, in my travels around town. I'd suggest going beyond Yelp and Googling it; you may find one closer than what Yelp lists. We're out of towners and were looking for a spot that was in the area we were in, and came across this place. Being from the RGV, we know and love our Mexican food! So we were curious how well this place would be. First we were started off with chips and salsa. Normally we're used to homemade chips, and the ones we got were from a bag. No biggie. They helped keep my toddler quiet. Salsas were good! All together we mostly ordered breakfast tacos and my fiance had a plate with eggs, potatoes, and beans. The food was tasty, the tortillas were so soft and yummy. My toddler got pancakes. We noticed they were different from your standard buttermilk and tasted like French Toast but in pancake form. The food is not consistent and I never know if it's going to be great or lousy. Most of the time it is 2 stars; sometimes 3. Never more. GREAT food, lovely vibes. My waitress was Ruby, who didn't speak much English but provided the best service we could ask for! I had the gorditas, modified so that they were vegetarian, and my friend got the steak nachos. Portions? HUGE. Flavor? POPPIN'. Prices? RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. It is hard to keep uniform when you have multiple locations The salsa at my original location i goto does not compare to the salsa here. So much better The menudo it good for the price. They don't clean the tripe so theres a bit of fat. There is a nice perportion of homoney and tripe. The horchata is also fantastic. Might i suggest to start making all prep items at one spot and send to the other locations.
