I don't even know where to start...Chico has a lot of bars & eating establishments so seeking out Taps is a must. Not filled with just college age it's all ages from 21 to 70 - watching sports on one of their 11 TVs & music on Sat nights. 1) It's out of the college downtown scene 2) Great people working there like John, Brooke, Lollie, Ron, Joel, Bailey, &!Karina 3) ABSOLUTELY great food - French dip sliders are THE BOMB!!! 4) They serve food late too! What the heck is this place?! My husband and I finally decided to try this place one night since we had seen relatively positive reviews on Yelp over a year or two. We were super hungry and arrived on a week night around 6pm. As soon as we parked and started walking to the front door we got the weirdest vibe. There was a huge group of (what seemed like) college ladies smoking out front and it felt like we were about to go into a house party... in the daylight... lol. We walked in and I looked around and immediately thought "oh hell no." and we walked out. I swear there was like one table set up inside, some very...non sober... people hanging by the bar, and right as we walked in they were all taking a shot with the bartender. It smelled like smoke inside and it was just the most off putting feeling ever. I'm bummed! read more

I saw the owner refuse to wash his hands and kicked out two guys only for calling him out. Not only is this gross, I'm pretty sure it's a health code violation. The attitude for a guy just asking to wash your hands is really crummy. If I could give 0 stars I would. Do better. read more

A friend has been telling us for weeks how good their brunch is. I love going here for lunch but today we tried the brunch and let me say it was fabulous!! I had the prime rib skillet and the kiddo had the Carne Asada skillet....YUM!! The meat was so tender and flavorful. Definitely recommend. Our server Corbin was adorable and super sweet! Will definitely be going back. Next time will try the Nutella French toast! read more

Stopped in to grab a burger, big mistake of my Sunday, the service was friendly, the wait is pretty long, I ordered a burger, fries and mozzarella sticks and it took over half an hour. That's not even the worst part, the worst part was my burger wasn't even cooked throughly. I took a few bites and threw the rest of my burger in the trash where it belongs. Have I remind you I did not ask for medium rare or anything along the lines of uncooked raw, so my beef patty should have been well done. After waiting 30 minutes plus I took my order to go and when it was all bagged up I didn't have any napkins, or condiments with my order. If you are coming here for the drinks and a sports game, it's probably ok but if you're coming out for anything more, I can not recommend or say I'll be back. There are a lot better places for food vs wait time. Disappointed to say the least.... read more

Great spot, great food, great service. I recommend all the burgers! Only thing missing is that 5 star toilet paper. It's a large part of my review criteria. 2-ply just doesn't cut it. read more

My bf and I are passing through Chico...stopped by for the menu options and reviews. Clean the staff is super nice! Jerid the chef is awesome ! Went out of his way for us! We will be back! wow, i never ever write reviews because I know how difficult working in a restaurant is but i will never go back here, seriously ever. Horrible, rude employees, specifically the lady working this afternoon today. this is my second time here and i decided to give it another chance but after the way we were talked to and greeted i was astonished. I've never had an employee treat me the way i was treated or talked to me in that tone before. I really have no words. This establishment should be ashamed. And no masks or health guidelines being followed by any employees. update: found out the rude employee was in fact the manager! yikes. read more

Not certain how long this place has been in Chico but it is a must stop for sure. Small casual atmosphere which makes it nice and relaxing. They gave a decent happy hour. The best meal is by far the beef dip. It will not disappoint. Something you wouldn't expect in a joint like this. They cook all their food here - even the beef for the dip. We opted to add garlic fries instead of plan fries and no skimping on the garlic! The service was excellent, giving the proper amount of attention. Thus place is a keeper and we will be back. read more

If I could give no stars I would. This is the worst service/food ever. We have waited for over an hour without being served. Once we were served none of our food was how we ordered it. Also, only 2 people got food and no one else was served for at least 20 minutes. Don't waste your money here. UPDATE: it's an hour later, we're still here and we're rationing water. read more

I've been coming to Taps fairly often since it's opening. Love this place. It has the best staff in town, hands down. The food, while not necessarily the best in town, is very good for the price. Love to grab a burger, watch a game, and drink some good beer, while having nice conversations with any of the bartenders that work here. It's not overly loud like some of the downtown, college bars. If you like watching sports, watching fights, and drinking beer while doing so, Taps is the perfect place. Even most of the customers are very friendly. Never have had a bad experience here, and I go there 2-3 times a week. read more

Located in the west campus area, this place definitely has a college feel to it. Despite this, it's nicer & cleaner than similar places downtown. Compliments: ~ I had the Lamb-ourghini burger with the garlic cheese fries. Both were out of this world! I've never had a burger like that, & would definitely come back to have it again. ~ Pretty extensive beer menu with 20 beers on tap. Criticisms: ~ Husband had the Black & Blue salad & it was very much lacking in the Blue (cheese). read more

Food poisoning. I became violently ill after eating a salad here. My mom went in the next day (I was still dying in bed) to inform the manager. The bartender said the manager would call us. Never received such a call. Very disappointing. My husband and I have been here several times for a drink. It's impossible to tell who is working and who is a customer. Drinking on the job seems to be encouraged here. We've observed it. Every. Single. Time. Is it possible that drunk staff=food mishandling? I would be embarrassed if I were the owner. read more

The Burger and fries were pretty good. The salad was the worst salad I have had in well over a decade(No exaggeration, it was really awful). The last time I had a worse salad all the ingredients were rotten. This salad had relatively fresh ingredients, yet was somehow still damn near inedible. The dressing was clearly watered down, and that didn't help. Had I known they had crappy salads, I never would have ordered from here. read more

20 beers on tap and a great whiskey selection! The French dip sliders are amazing and the wings are great! They always have football on and will change any of the 5/6 screens to any game you'd like. One of the only places with bottomless champagne on the weekends! Really diverse atmosphere. Love coming here. read more

This place rocks!! Beautifully designed interior with great seating options for small or large groups, excellent beer and wine prices, especially compared to other Chico restaurants! The food.....WOW!! I had the french dip with perfectly sliced prime rib, melty cheese, super tasty au jus and horseradish to die for....comes on the side for the less adventurous! I came in not knowing what to expect. I was promptly greeted by my bartender, Loli, who hooked me up with a menu and a smile. I ordered the brunch burger with avocado, and a spicy Bloody Mary. Loli took the time to make my drink extra spicy and brought condiments for my food without me neefing to request it. Easily the best Bloody Mary I've ever had. The white linen she made was, to be a little tacky, a work of art. The burger was delicious. The company at the bar was great. I highly recommend this bar. Loli is awesome and so are the folks in the kitchen who prepared my meal. Thank you Taps! read more

I ordered a pizza online and went to pick it up. Not a single person in that crowded place from cooks to patrons were wearing a mask. And they wonder why college classes are only online now with Covid?? They had lost my order, so I had no food and the manager was less than friendly about it and downright rude when I pointed out that they could be spreading disease. No wouldn't return to that hole if they offered free food for a year. read more

I would have to say that this place is a hidden gem that's I got a recommendation to try it from the family I nanny. I have passed this place plenty of times and never really gave it a second look until I got a recommendation to try it the food was amazing and delicious. I believe I got either the chicken sandwich or their hamburgers and it was amazing; it completely melted in your mouth. The service was really fast and friendly and the bartender made some delicious drinks overall I recommend anyone to give it a chance because it will definitely surprise you read more

Checked out the place for the first time was not disappointed. I got the their mule with tequila it was delicious. Ordered the California burger it was awesome! Absolute worst bar in Chico. Drinks are overpriced and bartender added a digit to my tip charging me 6x more than I intended. Took 25 minutes on a not so busy night to close my tab. Terrible atmosphere and weird crowd. Can confidently say I will never step foot in this bar ever again. Do yourself a favor and go to the bear or frankys. read more

My tacos came quickly and then we sat, looking at my food while we waited for the other entrée, the burger. 10 minutes later it shows up served by another server, no explanation or even acknowledgement that it took 10 minutes between me being served and my companion being served. Anyway our server was MIA for the rest of our stay. No offer of a refill for our beverages, no asking if the food was ok. Nothing. We stayed about 2 hours total and my normal policy is to double the tip because I have taken a table for about twice as long as normal. Unfortunately service was sub par. Oh and tea was incredibly strong not in a good way.

We ordered at the counter and then sat down at a table. We only waited about 15 minutes to get our food. My son and I ordered the Great Bacon Burger and specialized it to our liking. I ordered the side salad and he got curly fries. His roommate ordered the Near Burger with curly fries. When we got our food, the boys' burgers were not the way they had ordered them (one had cheese and the other had tomatoes). And it wasn't clear was whose was whose. My side salad was basic basic fare. I should have ordered the curly fries. I probably won't be back, but it was fun to visit the iconic Chico restaurant.

This restaurant is killing people by not following county and state orders. I am a delivery driver and was given an order at this restaurant. When I walked in I was shocked to see a packed restaurant with no social distancing and no masks (not even the staff or kitchen workers were wearing masks). Keep in mind this is during a time where the governor has prohibited all indoor seating at restaurants due to a spike in cases. I told the manager how uncomfortable their lack of healthcare precautions made me and how I recently almost lost a loved one due to the deadly virus and was met with a sarcastic "ok cool", an eye rolling, and then was ignored. All these people need to do is wear a mask, it's not hard. I was very kind in explaining my concern and the staff was incredibly rude to me. Millions of Americans have lost their jobs, healthcare, and lives due to irresponsible and inconsiderate people like these folks. I kindly ask that you please not support this business as they are selfish and do not have the greater interest of public safety for the American people at heart. read more

Roxanne Frias & Jesse Garibay are the most unprofessional people in the industry. I've never seen a restaurant have physical & verbal altercation so often. Also seen their employees & owner consume alcohol while working. There's many videos out of Jesse harming and harassing male & females outside the pub. EVERYONE DO NOT SUPPORT THEM!! Being pregnant, she's operating with heightened food detection abilities that rival military technology, so she immediately declared, "We're coming back here." A week later we returned with her boyfriend and brother, and what followed can best be described as a competitive eating event. The hostess greeted us warmly, got us seated quickly, and we settled into the lively outdoor patio. Great atmosphere, cold drinks, sports on the TVs, and just enough energy to feel fun without feeling chaotic. We started with ahi bites, beer cheese pretzels, jalapeño poppers, and Brussels sprouts. The ahi bites were fantastic. Fresh ahi, creamy avocado, crispy wontons, and a little heat at the finish line. The pretzels were soft enough to pull apart with your fingers and the beer cheese was rich and addictive. The jalapeño poppers got an unexpected upgrade from the blackberry BBQ sauce, which gave them a sweet, smoky personality all their own. Then there were the Brussels sprouts. Whoever thought of pairing Brussels sprouts with blackberry drizzle deserves a raise. Sweet, savory, crispy, tender, and impossible to stop eating. For dinner we sampled the taco bowl, brisket bowl, rice bowl loaded with brisket, and a house salad. The taco bowl was colorful, fresh, and loaded with flavor. The brisket bowl was my personal favorite. Smoky brisket over fried rice with vegetables, crispy wontons, cotija cheese, and a sweet-spicy sauce that kept me digging in long after I should have stopped. The rice bowl with added brisket was almost comical when it arrived. Massive chunks of brisket perched on top like they owned the place. Tender, smoky, juicy, and worth every penny. Even the house salad was fresh enough to remind us we were technically eating vegetables. What stood out most was that every dish felt like someone in the kitchen actually cared. Nothing felt thrown together. Portions were generous, flavors were bold, and everything hit the table looking as good as it tasted. We originally found Parkside by following our noses.
