What the heck is this place?! My husband and I finally decided to try this place one night since we had seen relatively positive reviews on Yelp over a year or two. We were super hungry and arrived on a week night around 6pm. As soon as we parked and started walking to the front door we got the weirdest vibe. There was a huge group of (what seemed like) college ladies smoking out front and it felt like we were about to go into a house party... in the daylight... lol. We walked in and I looked around and immediately thought "oh hell no." and we walked out. I swear there was like one table set up inside, some very...non sober... people hanging by the bar, and right as we walked in they were all taking a shot with the bartender. This place has been around for a while now. It's been though change of ownership and had a great experience today. The chef recommended to try a side of their own made gravy. A friend has been telling us for weeks how good their brunch is. I love going here for lunch but today we tried the brunch and let me say it was fabulous!! I had the prime rib skillet and the kiddo had the Carne Asada skillet....YUM!! The meat was so tender and flavorful. Definitely recommend. Our server Corbin was adorable and super sweet! Stopped in to grab a burger, big mistake of my Sunday, the service was friendly, the wait is pretty long, I ordered a burger, fries and mozzarella sticks and it took over half an hour. That's not even the worst part, the worst part was my burger wasn't even cooked throughly. I took a few bites and threw the rest of my burger in the trash where it belongs. Have I remind you I did not ask for medium rare or anything along the lines of uncooked raw, so my beef patty should have been well done. After waiting 30 minutes plus I took my order to go and when it was all bagged up I didn't have any napkins, or condiments with my order. If you are coming here for the drinks and a sports game, it's probably ok but if you're coming out for anything more, I can not recommend or say I'll be back. The restaurant is relatively new and they are still modifying their menu but it is worth trying. The food is good but there is still room for improvement. Their bread is tasty! Cheap drinks. 20 Taps all Sierra Nevadas only $4. The blonde girl bar tender makes some fancy drinks... the other tattooed owner/bar tender is super friendly and personable. wow, i never ever write reviews because I know how difficult working in a restaurant is but i will never go back here, seriously ever. Horrible, rude employees, specifically the lady working this afternoon today. this is my second time here and i decided to give it another chance but after the way we were talked to and greeted i was astonished. Not certain how long this place has been in Chico but it is a must stop for sure. Small casual atmosphere which makes it nice and relaxing. They gave a decent happy hour. The best meal is by far the beef dip. It will not disappoint. Something you wouldn't expect in a joint like this. They cook all their food here - even the beef for the dip. We opted to add garlic fries instead of plan fries and no skimping on the garlic! The service was excellent, giving the proper amount of attention. If I could give no stars I would. This is the worst service/food ever. We have waited for over an hour without being served. Once we were served none of our food was how we ordered it. We had the French Dip Sliders (AMAZING!), Turkey Caprese Sandwich with sweet potato fries that were excellent, and the Buffalo Salad. I've been coming to Taps fairly often since it's opening. Love this place. It has the best staff in town, hands down. The food, while not necessarily the best in town, is very good for the price. Love to grab a burger, watch a game, and drink some good beer, while having nice conversations with any of the bartenders that work here. It's not overly loud like some of the downtown, college bars. If you like watching sports, watching fights, and drinking beer while doing so, Taps is the perfect place. Even most of the customers are very friendly. Food poisoning. I became violently ill after eating a salad here. My mom went in the next day (I was still dying in bed) to inform the manager. The bartender said the manager would call us. Never received such a call. Very disappointing. My husband and I have been here several times for a drink. It's impossible to tell who is working and who is a customer. Drinking on the job seems to be encouraged here. We've observed it. Every. Single. Time. Is it possible that drunk staff=food mishandling? I would be embarrassed if I were the owner. read more

The last time I had a worse salad all the ingredients were rotten. This salad had relatively fresh ingredients, yet was somehow still damn near inedible. I came in not knowing what to expect. I was promptly greeted by my bartender, Loli, who hooked me up with a menu and a smile. I ordered the brunch burger with avocado, and a spicy Bloody Mary. Loli took the time to make my drink extra spicy and brought condiments for my food without me neefing to request it. Easily the best Bloody Mary I've ever had. I have passed this place plenty of times and never really gave it a second look until I got a recommendation to try it the food was amazing and delicious.
