    Ultimate Gyro with beef!
    Sam B.

I was so excited to try this place after my dentist appointment, and it was right across the street. Took around 15 minutes from when I ordered online to pick up my order, and it wasn't super busy inside for dinner time, only 1 other person. I ordered the Ultimate Gyro and it was PACKED with stuff. So much meat, a fluffy pita, and tons of toppings. I honestly could eat this every night. The version I ordered had two types of sauce, and I honestly wish I stuck to just the tzatziki, but theres always next time! I also saw they have Gyro bowls, which I can't wait to try. I got waffle fries on the side, they were delicious and I was given HUGE portion. I probably could've made this meal stretch our for 2 nights if I wanted to. Counting down the days until my next dentist appointment (that's a weird one to say) until I can go back again!

Wrapped Ultimate Gyro and Side Greek Salad

I used to visit Tapas when it was in West Hartford, and even the Tapas that used to be on Ann Street in Downtown Hartford back in the day. Tapas spoiled me for other similar places in two ways. First, when you order their Ultimate Gyro, you get -- not one sauce -- TWO sauces. Tzatziki and Mad Greek sauce (a tangy red sauce). For years, I would go to other places and try to order two sauces, and they would look at me like I was crazy. Two, I was addicted to their Greek salad dressing. When the WeHa location closed, I entered a 13 Step Program (yeah it was that bad), and now I'm OK, but it was touch and go for a little bit. It's not like the Bloomfield location is the longest drive from my Newington home, but I couldn't bring myself to make the drive. Two weeks ago, I learned from Yelper Laura B's review that Tapas opened as a takeout business (in the old Spicy Green Bean space on Hebron). That's about 10 minutes for me. I visited for lunch for an Ultimate Beef Gyro and a side Greek salad. I also bought a bottle of the Greek Salad Dressing. The Tapas beef mixture and the pita are both good, but what I really love is the two sauces and the amount of veggie toppings. Lettuce. Tomato. Red Onion. The Ultimate Gyro is a better than the sum of its parts kind of thing. You can get fries, including great waffle fries, as your side. But I was craving the Greek salad. The dressing never disappoints. It's so herb and spice-filled and delicious. I also like the way that the good feta comes in small pieces so it distributes well. The pitted olives are tangy and very satisfying as well. I'm happy to have a Tapas nearby again. It's part of the lunch rotation for me. An enthusiastic Four Stars.

Ok, now this is a pickup spot and I'll admit I've never actually been the one to go in and pick up the food! I have ordered and it's been ready on time, and is always fresh and the protein is hot as it should be, so I have no complaints about service. I LOVED and was a regular at Tapa's in WeHa before it closed, so I was thrilled to be able to get my favorite Tapa's Greek salad nearby again when this spot opened! The almost famous dressing is as delicious as I remembered, and I actually think I need a bottle soon! The salmon I ordered with one of my salads was still hot and cooked perfectly medium rare, while packed separately as to not heat up any parts of my fresh cold salad! I am a fan, I was a fan and am still a huge fan...and kind of wish this spot was in my town! But, it's not that far so I will continue to get my favorite Greek salads! The feta is just different and better than what my go to replacement favorite was before this location opened! I remember my mom's boyfriend asking how he could go back to crappy store bought hummus after trying some of Tapas hummus, and well, that's a great question! It will never be the same again once you get things here that you thought were good elsewhere. You will be spoiled, and you'll want it again and again. We even ordered from the winery in town one evening! Perfect solution, we didn't want cheese and crackers they sell at the winery, and Tapas is to go only so this was a win-win solution, that I recommend!

I feel like I've been hearing about the wonder that is Tapas for years and when they opened a location in Glastonbury, I knew I had to try it out! I will definitely update this review once I try more menu items but I was craving a salad the other day and I had heard so many amazing things about their Greek salad so that's what I got! The salad definitely lived up to my expectations as it was loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, onion, and I opted for grilled chicken and they provided a huge amount. Don't even get me started on their Greek dressing, because I now fully understand why it's so famous. It had the most incredible flavor that I can't even begin to describe. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

First time here and I think it's safe to say I would definitely come back. Just so you are aware it is solely a take out place. The parking is a little difficult to figure out in the dark if you have never been but there are spaces right in front. The food was very good. I got the simple hummus with pita and the hummus had a good flavor. I also ordered the ultimate gyro with the combo chicken and beef. It was quite yummy, my only complaint would be the lack of meat, definitely could've used a lot more meat for the price you pay, I was a little disappointed. I imagined it would be stuffed with a little lettuce but had more lettuce than meat. For the meat that was there it tasted pretty good the sauces all had good flavor. I also enjoyed the side of Greek salad with feta, salad dressing was great!

Oh how I missed you and your deliciousness Tapas. I was so excited to hear about Tapas opening a takeout location in Glastonbury. And the wait is finally over. Now you know this first visit had to include the Ultimate Gryo loaded with meat and tatziki and mad Greek sauce let me tell you it did not disappoint. With a side of Greek salad to top it off oh my Lord it was heavenly. Just as I remembered if you haven't had a meal from Tapas and are a fan of Gyros and Greek Salad you are missing out. Also don't forget to grab yourself a bottle of dressing to elevate your salads at home....you'll be thanking me. Can't wait to go back and get their to die for hummus platter....oh I'm in trouble with you being so close by Tapas.

I ordered the Sweet Apple Orchard salad and customized it with the hot panko chicken and some cucumber; Eleeeeee-lite! The portion size was also huge. I couldn't even finish it in one sitting. I'm honestly stuck between this and Wendy's strawberry salad now, but Chopt might've just taken the crown. I could literally eat this every single day. 10/10, HIGHLY recommend!

I decided to create my own bowl and made it clear out loud that it was my first visit. However, no one explained that several toppings are extra or that there's a limit on how many items you can choose from certain sections before being charged. Since I wasn't informed, I kept adding ingredients as I went along. The person making my bowl never mentioned the additional costs, and another employee at the counter kept staring at my bowl, instead of offering guidance. A simple explanation like "you can choose up to three from this section, anything extra costs more" would have made a big difference--especially for a first-time customer. When I got to the register, the total came to $40, which was honestly shocking for a salad. The food may be good, but the lack of communication and customer service really took away from the experience. First impressions matter, and this one definitely missed the mark. I have always passed by that road and wanted to try chopt. The salad was okay liked the falafel and the options they had.

But basic hospitality like eye contact, clearing empties, professionalism -- isn't optional. My drink was poorly made and unbalanced, which only added to the frustration. What really crossed the line was hearing staff behind the bar openly speaking negatively about customers -- including people currently seated. That's not just bad service, it's unprofessional. It's unfortunate to see a place I enjoyed decline like this. I hope management steps in.

There's a good selection of food and quality cocktails. It's only 3PM-5PM so get here early. My sister also likes their GF pizza (with pepperoni). The pizza kitchen is an open one. The music is definite oldies in here. Disco Inferno! For my first drink, I'm having an Our Negroni made with Beefeater Gin, Campari, sweet vermouth and San Pelligrino Arancitta. Pelligrino Arancitta is an unusual ingredient. Sanpellegrino Aranciata is the original sparkling orange drink from Italy. I've never seen this in a Negroni other than at here. It is served quickly, garnished nicely with an orange wheel and a rosemary leaf (also odd). What a nice touch! They are quick to drop off a complementary ice water. For my first food item, I'm having the Chopped Antipasto Salad made with to subs lettuce, provolone cheese, Genoa salami, string beans (that's new), tomatoes, chick peas (that's different) and Parmesan cheese. They use cloth napkins and metal utensils. That's always a good sign. This is a good sized portion! I remember it as being much smaller before (I could be wrong). All the ingredients are quite fresh. It tastes great! For my next food item, I'm having the Our Meatballs made with parmigiano and garlic bread crumbs (per the Happy Hour menu). These are really the MY AUNT JOSIE'S MEATBALLS (just one less) made with stracciatella, mozzarella, toasted breadcrumbs and EVOO (per the Dinner Menu). These came out quick! They are piping hot! Oh yeah! These are delicious! Sauce is great too! For my next drink, I'm having The Spicy Mango. This is made with Tanteo Jalapeño tequila and Patron Mango Citrone. I'm hoping for a fresh jalapeño garnish. Let's see if they have it. Nope! But, the bartender offered a Tajin rim. Good idea! There a good crowd in here and it's nut even 4PM yet. The bar is full including the two high tops. This tastes great! It's nicely garnished with a lime wheel and has a huge Tajin rim. It's has a little kick to it too! For my next food item, I'm having the Grilled Artichoke. This is made with crushed hazelnuts, lemon and Parmesan cheese. This is definitely a unique item you can't get anywhere else. These is good! I love the salad! Love those hazelnuts! What a unique dish! For my next food item, I'm having the Roasted Prosciutto Wrapped Dates. These are made with Gorgonzola cheese, toasted pumpkin seed and raw Brussels sprouts salad. These are great! Crunchy on the outside. I move that salad! Wow! They're playing Born to Be Alive by Patrick Hernandez. I've never heard that in a restaurant. He's a one hit wonder! For my next drink, I'm having the Venetian Martini. This is made with Absolut Citron, Aperol, Prosecco and lime juice. It's is nicely garnished and tastes great! It is strong too. You can taste the alcohol let me yell you! For my next item, I'm having the Happy Hour Cheeseburger (cooked medium) made with lettuce, tomato, provolone and a brioche bun. I'm not leaving here without it! This burger is huge! I love dill pickles and ketchup! This is delicious! For my last drink, Mercedes is making me a Mercedes Manhattan. Look at this masterpiece! A Manhattan is a classic, spirit-forward cocktail made with whiskey (traditionally rye or bourbon), sweet vermouth, and Angostura bitters, stirred with ice and served in a chilled glass, typically garnished with a maraschino cherry or lemon twist. It's known for its balanced, complex flavor, with rye providing spice and bourbon offering sweetness, and variations exist using different spirits or vermouths. This is absolutely perfect! It's perfect garnished with an orange peel, two maraschino cherries and a sprig of rosemary. It is perfectly balanced. There simply is no better than this. It has a hint of chocolate in it. I like the square ice cube to slow the dilution process. They just played Waterloo by ABBA. I haven't heard that in decades! I just noticed that the lights dim as the night goes on. For dessert, I'm having the Vanilla Creme Brulee with a chocolate chip cookie. Hold the phone here! This was served in UNDER ONE MINUTE! I'm told they just torch it. I'm impressed! I think that's a record! I love the confectionery sugar sprinkle! Damn! This is good! No vanilla bean on the bottom (not everyone does that). Wait! I see it. It's on the edges! This is delicious! It's a good portion for sure! The last item is a GF pepperoni pizza for my sister. This is a rare treat she gets once (or twice a year). This place is the best!

I stopped in for a takeout lunch and grabbed four slices and a drink. Normally when I try a pizza place I go for the plain cheese slice first (b/c if you can't do that well I'm not interested in anything else) but they didn't have any available so I'll go slice by slice with this review. First up was the White Pizza, simple pie with Ricotta, Mozzarella and Parmigiano. This wasn't bad at all, but it wasn't very flavorful. Most places will use a garlic and herb base or something to give it some extra flavor but this was just ok. The Chicken-Bacon-Ranch was probably the best of the four I tried, though it was a little light on the toppings. If it had a bit more chicken and/or bacon I would have enjoyed it a lot more than I did but overall it was good, but could be much better. The Buffalo Chicken pizza was not what I am used to. I'm spoiled by the version that Hometown Pizza does where the chicken chunks are breaded and sauced and the finished pie is topped with bleu cheese dressing. This was a pizza with shredded chicken and hot sauce so, technically buffalo chicken but like the other slices, lacking on the toppings so hard to say it was anything other than just "OK". The Big Mac slice was really the biggest disappointment. First off, the Big Mac is a BURGER and there was hardly any burger on the pizza at all. Though there were some sesame seeds present there were none on the crust. The primary toppings here seem to be the 'sauce' and lettuce which tasted more like Russian dressing than "Big Mac" sauce. It's a nice enough place, cozy inside and the staff is friendly for the most part, I wouldn't mind sitting down for a nice lunch but, as many others have mentioned there are a LOT of good pizza places within a short distance so I'm not sure I'll be coming back anytime soon. I'm not sure why they're so light on the toppings but if your slice pies are that skimpy there's no way I'd order a whole pie. Barely three stars.
