    Falafel from platter
    Jason P.

I had heard a Mediterranean restaurant would take the space occupied by longtime Parkville Market fav Twisted Italian. Although I was sad to see Twisted Italian go because it was great and was the only Italian restaurant in the Market, I was excited that the Market would have a Mediterranean restaurant, which is a new direction. I visited the Market with my family today and learned that Taste Mediterranean Kitchen opened a few days ago. The menu will feel familiar to Mediterranean fans. I ordered a (1) Platter with Hummus, Tabbouleh, Baba Ganoush, and Falafel; and (2) Chicken Cigars. Everything was good. The falafel had nice texture and tasted great dipped in a tahini sauce. The pita is the thin kind. The hummus, Baba G, Tabbouleh were all fresh tasting and on par with most good places. The chicken cigars were basically chicken shawarma slices stuffed in cool wraps. There were tasty too. The people running Taste seemed nice and eager to share their food. It felt kind of like a family place, which is a good thing. Nice addition to Parkville Market. 4 Stars

(Straight Lines) Sweetwater Salad Bar made a bad experience "good" today when they pivoted and made a great customer service decision. They have a deep menu with all sorts of customizable Smoothies, three kinds of toasts, and Wraps. We went for lunch today and decided on a "to go" order of their Avocado Toast. We paid our $5.84 and waited for the order to be assembled. After a few minutes, a manager approached us to say they couldn't make the avocado toast because they had run out of bread. Now... since you can't really make an Avocado Toast, Peanut Butter Banana Toast, or Hummus Toast without toast, and you can't really make toast without bread, we understood why they couldn't give us the order we had already paid for. But they made things right by offering us something else, so we opted for a chicken quesadilla which we received for no additional charge. The quesadilla was good with a nice mix of chicken and cheese. IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES Obviously, inventory management comes to mind, and if they run out of bread, that information should be conveyed to the entire staff so everyone is on the same page about what is and is not available, what can and cannot be made, and what should and should not be paid for.

It was summer in a cup. It was so good and refreshing on a hot day. For the half wrap I got chicken, lettuce, chickpeas, garlic Parmesan sauce on a tomato basil wrap. I was tempted to write a bad review just so this restaurant doesn't become too crowded, but this restaurant deserves all the praise. The interior was small and a little loud, but they're moving a few doors down soon to a bigger restaurant which am I very excited to see! Even though it was almost completely full, they made accommodations to get us a seat as walk-ins. Our waitress was fantastic and attentive despite serving the entire dining room. She made some excellent recommendations of dishes to try and was very enthusiastic. For food, we tried the chefs bread which came with delish dips (my favorite being the delicious yogurt and eggplant). They even had gluten free bread that was fresh baked. It is without a doubt the best gluten free bread I've had at a restaurant. We also tried the salmon tagliatelle which was creamy, fresh, and delicious and the short rib gnocchi which was homey and comforting. Only complaint, maybe a little too much parsley. Even though we were stuffed, we had to try dessert since everything else was so fantastic. We tried the iced pistachio crème brûlée and the Caramel cheesecake. The cheesecake wasn't your traditional New York slice you'd expect, but it was light and doused in delicious caramel. The iced pistachio crème brûlée was out of this world, I didn't think I'd finish it but ended up basically licking the plate. Everything was amazing. Take the drive off of Blue Back Square and try this place out next time you visit West Hartford, you won't regret it!

I love how small and cozy this place is--it has the warm, authentic feeling of enjoying a homemade meal. Everything tasted delicious, but the bread was definitely my favorite. It was perfectly crispy, and I loved the toasted sesame seeds on top. The prices are very reasonable, and another big plus is that it's not right in the center of West Hartford, so parking is much easier. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic, delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back!
