The yellow curry was absolutely delicious--very creamy .. I ordered a 4 in spice-- if you like it spicy order a 5. My girl got the pad Thai which she also liked. The place was cute, and perfect for a date- the service was fast and helpful

We were in the area for the Celebrate West Hartford and stumbled upon this restaurant. The inside was spacious and clean but we decided to dine outside because it was nice out. The patio had two tables and it's very cramped quarters, but we were able to fit a baby carriage and our family of 4. The service was very friendly and attentive. We had the crab rangoons to start off with; crispy fried wonton and creamy cream cheese/crab filling. These were very good, up there with my one of my favorite rangoons. I had their Lychee-tini cocktail; it had a lychee in it and vodka, triple sec, and lychee juice. I loved the price of $8 which is unheard of lately for cocktails but the flavor was not good, it didn't taste like lychee. My entree was the green curry chicken and rice; the curry had coconut milk, eggplant, bell pepper, string beans, and basil leaves. This meal was really good, I loved the eggplants and I wished it had more. Next time, I want to try out their pad Thai, massaman curry, and yellow curry. Overall, a good experience and delicious Thai spot to check out.

    Crispy duck salad

It's been a while since we have been here but it still comes in at three stars. We had lunch which was crispy duck salad and Pad Thai. The duck was very well done and the salad was drowned in a balsamic type dressing. Not terrible but not good. The Pad Thai was ok but again nothing special in any way. The prices are low for WeHa center. The service good, a decent wine list and spirits as well. It is a small place and could be crowded or noisy if full but at lunch it was quiet.

The interior is spacious and despite the wood and brick, not very loud.

Prai is probably one of the better Thai restaurants I've been to in Connecticut, but that isn't saying much since the bar is so low in general for this cuisine in the area. I'm used to having a Thai restaurant every block in Los Angeles to pick from, and this restaurant, if relocated there, would be considered average. Had the Pad Thai with chicken for lunch, and it was good, if not memorable. Heavy on the noodles, protein and peanuts (so much peanut!), but lacking in the vegetables. A scant amount of bean sprouts, and maybe at best two slivers of green onion. With those ratios, it tends towards being a heavier dish than it should be. Also tried a dish that's somewhat uncommon, crab fried rice. The flavor here felt very one-note... I tasted mostly fish sauce as the core flavor, while my wife (who is Thai) felt is was just Maggi fried rice with crab. The thing is, while the flavors were rather pedestrian, the cooking itself was terrific. Everything was done very well, and the egg in the fried rice was fluffy and not under or overdone. That speaks to the technique of the chef, to be able to combine and cook these ingredients without destroying the texture in the process. If only the flavors were more subtle, complicated... and they added more vegetables overall to balance the rest. One hint that I was eating at a more Americanized restaurant-- the utensils given to customers were a fork and knife. Thais eat with fork & spoon, and when I requested a spoon, I was given a massive serving spoon to use, and not a normal soup-sized spoon instead. I enjoyed the meal, but there's still a space for improvement. Service was excellent-- happy, attentive, and appreciative staff! Extra star for a very welcome experience.

Food is ok but should improve on environment, lighting, and especially service people training. They are untrained, literally need customers to stand up and walk to them to remind them to do simple things like giving the menu.

Beef Salad with the most outrageously delicious dressing!

We really enjoyed the friendly service, excellent hostess and attention to detail. We started with a Beef Salad which had a sweet, lime, spicy flavor unlike anything we'd ever had. The greens were fresh and it came with tomatoes, onions, cucumber strips and tender thin sliced beef. Just sumptuous! My Thai Basil Eggplant with Chicken was only $17 with a perfect generous portion of sweet eggplant, and lots of fresh basil sprigs. The chicken was tender and the rice was perfectly sticky. The Basil Chicken was similar but in this dish ground, with a delicious poached egg on top. Our total bill, with tip was $55.00 and worth every cent. I highly recommend Prai, and consider it one of the best Thai restaurants in West Hartford and the entire Farmington area.

    happy hour menu!

They have happy hour! The happy hour chicken pad Thai for 7$ is the deal of the century for downtown weha. So tasty, not oily, and the portion is huge. The wings are so crispy and juicy and the sauce that comes with them is a glorious balance of sweet and savory. The Siam rolls are tasty and unusual. Long skinny crispy rolls filled with flavorful glass noodles. The soft shell crab salad was a little disappointing. The dressing is very vinegar heavy and I expected more than a single diced crab. But the crab itself was good. 100% will be back for happy hour

I tried Prai for the first time in a few years and was pleasantly surprised. I've always loved how lowkey it is inside. I got a couple of appetizers: the shumai roll, the curry puffs, a thai iced tea, and beef drunken udon. The shumai rolls were perfectly crunchy on the outside and moist inside. The curry puffs, which were filled with chicken, potato, and spices, were easily my favorite. The flavor was a combination of sweet and savory and they were really filling. The thai iced tea was on point. A great spot for lunch for sure, service was friendly and quick.

    Mee Krob Rad Nah

Cute space! Empty at a lunch hour on a Saturday, we were quickly seated. Staff was very nice and welcoming Loved the food! Unpretentious, realistic portion sizes that are fair on pricing. I love the bowls that they served the food in too! Highly recommend the Mee Krob Rad Nah. This is a crispy noodle I've seen in a number of Chinese restaurants served in a style, but never had in Thai restaurants. I found it cooked well and blended nicely with the sauce and mixed veggies. Another recommendation, unless you're a spice mongrel, ask for lower spice levels of 1 or 2. We found 2 quite spicy for us already! Great experience, thanks team!

    Crab Rangoon
    Hannah M.

I was actually really impressed with my takeout from Prai tonight. I generally order Thai from Blue Elephant Trail and decided to try something new. I got the crab Rangoon ($7) and the drunken noodles ($13 plus $1 for chicken). The food was ready on time - already a pleasant surprise considering how much difficulty I have with restaurants in the area for takeout. The crab Rangoon was a bit underwhelming but was cooked well and was a decent portion. I'm sure it would have been better had I not gotten it for takeout. The crab flavor could have been a bit stronger. Probably wouldn't order again, but certainly not bad. The drunken noodles were great - perfect spice level and they were flavorful with an ample portion of well-cooked chicken. It was easily enough for two people to split, making it a very affordable meal altogether. Would definitely order again and try more items from the menu.

SO- of all the wonderful dining choices in the posh WeHa location, we chose this tonight after seeing our wonderful Yelp elite colleague Dan R's 5 star review! Sadly, our experience was decidedly NOT so stellar. None of the high points existed for us from that great lunch review. One star for quick friendly seating upon arrival. I noticed the filthy upper wall over the front window. Maybe that's just too high to keep clean? Walls were all dingy, but I didn't give it another thought, since the place seemed pretty clean besides that. We ordered drinks, and I chose the lychee martini at a great price of $8. I chose to substitute grey goose for Tito's, and was not informed the upcharge was $3? It was delicious, but any restaurant here can really do that. Well, okay I enjoyed it, though it was also small. So another star for this and the basic good service. Now we get an app to share of chicken wings. They were terrible, really fatty with hardly any meat. Just awful. I rarely say I hate these, but dang Awful. Yuck! Now we chose to share an entreé of pad Thai with giant prawns. We read that the portions here were huge. No such luck. Only 3 NOT so giant shrimp to split. Hardly one dinner portion worth of rice noodles. It wasn't what I could consider one large dinner serving. On top of that, there was an odd undertaste to the noodles, slightly unpleasant. I couldn't figure out what it was, but it was not good. Oh, No NOOO!! We left hungry and went searching for dessert...somewhere ELSE.

Sidewalks were torn up but the place is hard to find with lack of signage. We were able to get seated right away, and looked through their digital menu. We got a smattering of dishes, wontons and dumplings, a sandwich and a ramen. Food came out in a reasonable wait time. We took pics and dug in. The 7 flavor dumpling was the star of the show. Light and thin dumpling wrapper, savory sweet sauce, plenty of filling. The pork dumplings were good, but the wrapper was thicker and denser. The twice cooked pork sandwich was pretty tasty, the pork needed to be more present compared to the veggies, but appreciated the crisp of the bread. The ramen had a good amount of braised beef and noodles. The broth needed a little doctoring to coax out some of the more savory notes. Broth needed more aggressive seasoning though. The price was not too bad for the area. It's kind of like dim sum, where you get a small plate for the price but it's all shareable and the flavors are good. It's not very well lit, gave the place a very dark air about it. But as a restaurant, it's pretty good. There's a lot of great places in that area, and this one's a good option if you're looking for small plates.
