It is my personal policy to never give either extreme (1 or 5 star reviews) without giving the place a second chance (unless I actually experienced substantial service there and was horrified at the thought of returning) hence the 2 stars. And I'm sure this place does a great job (especially given the other positive reviews) but I was SO turned off by the person I spoke with (younger girl, probably not the owners) that I won't be returning. Here it is: I have never been inside a tile store and the esposo and I have been discussing a small renovation/update to our place which would require new tiles. I Googled (like I said, never purchased tiles before) what we were trying to do and it yielded hundreds of responses on "tutorials" on how to do it. I walk into Tap n Tile, tell the girl what we are trying to do and her response (with a patronizing look to boot) was "WHY would you want to do THAT?!" Me (trying to keep the conversation practical): "Uhmmm...what's the disadvantage of doing it that way?" Her: "because, why would you do that? I mean, NObody does that, right?!" (Condescending look continued) Well, I wouldn't know and that's why I am the ignorant person asking you, the expert. I shan't bore you with the rest of the conversation, but essentially found my visit to be deflating, annoying and completely unhelpful overall. I hope mine was an isolated incident & very thankful they aren't the only game in town. read more

I love everyone who helped me here during my construction. I wanted to shop here because the owner is my customer and I wanted to give her my business now. Plus, we both are a mom and pop local shop. I believe in supporting these businesses verses the big chains. Joann, the owner, super nice and knowledgable. Priscilla, sales girl, very knowledgable and super helpful and especially in crunch times. Like if I needed a few more tiles because my tile guy broke them or didn't ask for enough. And Ricardo, always very nice and they are on top of things. You don't have to explain yourself if the other one is not there. They actually came to the house a few times to help me with a decision. If they were not busy, they would be cleaning up. Which is better than seeing them stand around and leave the mess. I have been here so much within a few months spam, I got to see the real thing. Best tile shop in Pasadena ! they have an amazing team who helps with design. They have a Great selection of tiles and stones. One thing that impress me was how they found a Quartz slab for my kitchen project. I have been searching for the stone because it's on back order and everybody I called doesn't have it in stock. my stone fabricator was told by the distributor the earliest new arrivals will be in stock is about month and a half. Their is also a waiting list on the stone as will take longer. I told them I needed the stone in a week. They called around and found me the stone I need in 3 hours. Which was the best news saved us from picking a different stone that would have changed the design. I would recommend checking them out for your project they defiantly have unique tiles. Tap N Tile is my favorite tile store in Pasadena. There is a huge selection of tiles from which to choose in prices that suit any budget. Staff is helpful and friendly. We had our granite countertop for our downstairs "man cave" kitchenette fabricated and installed by Tap N Tile. It looks amazing. Their fabricator, Avo, takes pride in his work and is a total perfectionist. As an aside, this was SUCH a nice change from what we've been dealing with in our completely incompetent and dishonest contractor (not affiliated with Tap N Tile) who has been doing our basement renovation. (There will be a separate and scathing review for that company later!) Avo took such care in gently handling our granite slab, like it was his own. And, whether he came to our home to measure our space or to deliver the slab, he was always on time. The merchandise is of high quality. So many places have tiles that look super cheap and like they should only be used in a bathroom, and I really wanted hand-cut tiles for our two fireplaces that we are re-doing. Ideally, I would have liked Motawi tiles, but while they are, indeed, gorgeous, those are outside of our budget. Tap N Tile had a lot of other options for hand-cut tiles with a similar "Craftsman look" that were more reasonably priced. Joan is a total gem. She knows what she is doing and has been so helpful. She has been instrumental in selecting the tiles to suit the look we are going for. She also helped to graph out the design of our tiles, so they could be installed properly. read more

Priscilla has been great ....she really came through for us and tracked down some hard to find travertine in 3/8" versaille pattern for our bathroom floor that I'd almost given up finding. What a great resource...they also have a terrific selection of trim, moulding and baseboards in addition to tile. read more

Priscilla was very sweet and helpful until a customer she knew came in, when she suddenly turned cold and dismissed me in a very odd manner, to help them. She gave me the bum's rush, saying I should buy some tile I saw online, oddly trying to convince me that I liked that tile. I had told her I didn't want the tile I had found online, that I wanted to buy from Tap n Tile, and that I needed her help.....had she helped me I would have purchased the tile then and there. She didn't even ask one of the other employees to help me (none were with customers), she just dismissed me. Boy, after 4 months of stress from a still unfinished kitchen remodel, I sure didn't need this weirdness. I will go back to Mission Tile West in South Pasadena where they treat customers with kindness and respect. I gave one star because zero was not an option. read more

If I could give 10 billion stars, I would. Ricardo goes above and beyond to help you. He helped me with my tile for a bathroom remodel. First, I was interested in a hexagon tile design from Daltile for the floor. When we found out that Daltile didn't carry the colors I wanted, Ricardo sourced hexagon tiles and created a sample of the design I wanted for me! Good thing he did, because I ended up putting the sample on the floor of my bathroom and not loving the hexagons. (so nice to have a sample before committing to an entire order!) I ended up with different floor tile... that I love. When it came to the wall tile, Ricardo called me with a wonderful suggestion for a wall tile to go with my floor tile. I was on a tight schedule to get the wall tile, he knew that so he ordered it and had it for me the next day!!! He's a life saver! Thank you, Ricardo!
