Fantastic waitstaff behind the counter. Huge donuts which were all very delicious. I will return!

Chocolate Magnificent, creme brulee, blueberry (listed in order of how much we liked them)

Delicious donuts! A little pricey but worth it. The chocolate one was to die for and I loved how many other unique flavors they have as well. If you're in the neighborhood by the Kelvingrove museum, definitely check this place out.

Right, I have Opinions about doughnuts. My Opinions about doughnuts are much like my opinons about pizza: All pizza is good, but that doesn't mean you can't distinguish good pizza from great pizza. In the same way, great doughnuts are doughnuts you're going to be thinking about all day. They're doughnuts you're going to wish you'd bought more of. They're doughnuts you're going to look forward to going back for later. So I guess you could say this is a pretty positive review. I went into Tantrum this morning and selected a candied pistachio doughnut and a latte to go. I've been thinking about that doughnut since. I'd originally planned to split it with someone but that idea went out of the window pretty quickly. So now I just have to work my way through the rest of their selection. Now, it's not super cheap, but if you pay Gregg's prices you get Gregg's products and lets face it; you deserve better than Greggs. A doughnut costs anything from £1.00 for a classic glazed ring to over £2.00 for something a bit more special. The coffee prices are pretty standard for the West End. Go, try them out. Just save some for me. Note: I heard that they aren't doing gluten free doughnuts yet but they do hope to in the future.

I was passing through and came into visit this business on afternoon. There was a few people in line and with only two members of staff service was rather on the slow side Cash only no cards taken. On display there was a few donuts but the selection was very much on the poor side, I ordered a latte & peanut butter donut to go. The coffee served wasn't the best taste and for the donuts the looked and tasted more like bought in ones.

I was starting to feel like I was the only person in Glasgow who hadn't made it along to Tantrum Doughnuts so I was very excited when Sharon M suggested we visit after lunch at The Grumpy Goat nearby. I totally agree with Sara M - I love that they're doing one thing (and a few side things) and doing it really well. This is a doughnut place, so don't go expecting sandwiches, pies or fancy dress costumes. It's all about the doughnuts. The shop is small - there's some seats if you want to eat in (maybe about 10) but it seems like mostly a take away operation. We waited in line (something I never do) to be served - the staff were friendly and smiley which is nice to see! The doughnuts are all made fresh so you might not get a full selection but I was impressed with what was on offer and the pricing - most doughnuts are around £1.70 - £2.50 which is very cheap when you consider that they're proper fancy gourmet doughnuts! I made Sharon M pay for my doughnuts because I erroneously thought I didn't have any cash. They take card so I could have paid for my own damn doughnuts (and I later discovered that I did indeed have cash - yesterday was one big fail for me). Anyway. I got a creme brulee (£1.75 take away) and a pistachio creme brulee (£2.30 take away) which I then I had to leave in the car for 8 hours which I feel is some sort of crime against doughnuts. Safe to say the doughnuts looked absolutely hideous from sweating in the car for 8 hours so I didn't take a photo but I was stoked to find they still tasted super good! I love how they have a glaze on them so they really are like a creme brulee! With Grunting Growler (beers!) opening down the road today, you really will be able to treat yourself to the ultimate afternoon of beers and doughnuts! I'll be doing that soon, for sure. Note: I know what I said yesterday about not really being a cake person, well that is still true - I only had half a doughnut last night and had to stop there because that was enough sweetness for me! They also do coffee, milkshakes and marshmallows if you want an accompaniment to your doughnuts. And you get 10% off if you buy a dozen.

So close to the park, it's wrong NOT to eat them in the sun. Seriously; wrong. Stop it.

Glorious, delicate, sumptuous, more-ish, delish ... The only thing you can do with a review here is say everything is amazing and list what everything means. Yuzu curd fillings. CHECK! Creme brulé. CHECK! Toasted marshmallows. CHECK IT BEFORE YOU WRECK IT! Hazelnut & Chocolate. MORE CHECKS THAN THE BANK ON PAY DAY! Maple & Bacon. Shalom alCHECKhem! Seriously, why are you still reading this review and not running to Tantrum, ugly running, with flappy arms, like Phoebe in Friends?

Ah phooey! I am a huge lover of doughnuts, but not of Tantrum Doughnuts. Sorry. Stopped in today as I was in the area and decided to try the Almond Buttermilk Old Fashioned and the PB&J. I took them to go as I was heading home and by the time I got them home, the grease in them had soaked straight through the bag (in a 10 minute car journey). I took them out and cut them in half, thinking that because I'm nice, I might leave the other halves for my guy, but honestly, I'm not sure I could manage a whole doughnut of each of these two doughnuts as they are sickeningly sweet and not to my liking at all. I'm giving this place three stars because the staff were friendly and welcoming and I like the fact that these doughnuts are made in house, but I'm not a fan of the doughnuts and that's a shame! I spent £3 in total which is a steal compared to other doughnut establishments but I feel quite sick now because of how sweet these doughnuts are. If you like super sweet, super dense doughnuts, this place is for you. I, however, won't be rushing back to get a doughnut fix here.

Doughnuts to go with a freshly toasted homemade marshmallow

I'd heard about this place and decided to take myself along and see what all the hype was about. Was able to get parked outside easily at lunch time on a Sunday! The shop it's self is small but cosy and when I was in I could see them making doughnuts in the back (they later updated Facebook to say they had completely run out of doughnuts, but it was Valentine's Day so that might have had something to do with it!) I went for a chocolate marshmallow milkshake which had a freshly toasted marshmallow on top. It was amazing I highly recommend it. I also went for a creme brûlée doughnut which had a caramelised sugar topping that cracked when you bit into it. It was also filled with a lovely vanilla creamy custard. Check this place out, you won't be disappointed!

PB&J!

I've been following Tantrum Doughnuts for a while now, even before they made an appearance at Gesso, and I really liked the idea of having new flavour combos for doughnuts. So I'm definitely a fan of this experimental duo! I'm glad that they opened up a shop too cause it only gives more of a reason to leave the house and spend more of my money on more food, especially doughnuts!!! (I'm a huge doughnut girl. I've been deprived) They're located like 2 mins away from the Kelvingrove Museum, along old Dumbarton road, won't be hard to find! The day of their opening, they told me they were so busy but in a good way! Of course I expected it seeing as they are quite popular online! While I was there, I order one of everything they had; the buttermilk almond doughnut and PB&J one for me to sit in, and to pack home, an addition of pistachio and creme brûlée doughnuts (bought these as a Christmas gift for my friends to try!). I am in love with the PB&J! It was my fav! The saltiness of the peanut and the sweetness of the jam went so well together! The buttermilk almond was nice too but on the sweet side for me. I think I'd prefer the doughnuts with a bit more diversity in terms of flavour, but it's still good!! My friends really loved the pistachio one! So far, their fav! :D I also ordered a latte, and I think the coffee beans are by Papercup so you know the roast is quite nice. It was a decent cuppa, went well with my doughnuts so can't complain there. 2 sit-in doughnuts, 4 takeaway doughnuts and a coffee totalled up to £12.80! That's not bad seeing as these doughy things really fill you up! Staff are friendly as ever and happy to see so many doughnut-craving people haha though in a daze when I was there; methinks the crowd burnt them out a little on the first day, but that's just good news for them!! :) people kept coming in non-stop while I was there, even policemen haha Anyway, definitely heading back to try more flavours! I think they will keep changing up flavour depending on their mood haha always good to change things up!

Creme brûlée donut
Jade W.

A work friend turned up this morning with some 'designer' donuts from Tantrum. Luckily for me (not for my diet however!) one of these donuts had my name on it. She'd picked up a dozen and they all looked amazing! I went for the creme brûlée and was pleasantly surprised at the perfect crunch when I bit into it with a delightful almost fluffy centre. Mid meeting I had to stop to express my delight! Well, to be honest the 'mmmmm' fell out all by itself. And just when I thought it couldn't get any better... smooth, silky vanilla creme came oozing out. MY GOODNESS! Where have you been all my life!? Having had a trio from Krispy Kreme just a couple of days before. I have to say that this donut was far superior. It was crazy good. And apparently all the donuts were an average of about £2, which I think is great! I'll be sure to make a visit for my own dozen - when I next decide it's ok to break my diet... Again. Until next time!

Barbara H.

Lovely, doughnuts were fresh, tasty and delicious, great toppings and the coffee was good too :) Only minus was it was possibly a bit warm inside when sitting in having coffee Will be back next time we are in the area

Pistachio Creme brulee doughnut.

At long last. A decent doughnut place in Glasgow (replace decent with amazing). This place is really cool - even if it is a bit off the beaten track. The doughnuts were brilliant. So well made with what tasted and appeared to be actual fresh ingredients - none of your fake, pre-packed and additive ridden stuff. Proper doughnut-y goodness right here. They also weren't drowning in oil either which was a pleasant change to the heart attack guff I've had elsewhere. I punted for the pistachio creme brulee doughnut and it was nothing short of sublime. Coupled with a cappucino, it was just the sugar hit I needed. But of course I had to get a few doughnuts boxed up to take up the road to be sure, right? Thoroughly recommend this place and I for one will be back soon (I hope).

Kathryn L.

A great wee place not far from Kelvingrove for some donuts, coffees and even slushies (not like your usual Krispy Kreme, but far better with unique flavours). I had a latte and classic almond donut but we ended up trying everyone else's and I have to say they were all gorgeous but my favourite has to be the peanut butter and jelly! Highly recommend going here and of course you can buy a takeaway box to sneakily eat some later!

The staff at Nic's were super helpful and even allowed my daughter to pick up the surprise baked goods at 9:15 when they only opened at 10 AM. And she reported that they were delicious! I'm a massive fan (see previous review of their St Enoch Square branch) but the only day I can make it to Nic's is a Saturday due to their opening hours and me working relatively far away. So when I heard their new establishment would be open til 11pm, 7 days a week, I was pretty excited to say the least! It's so great that the Nic's concept has really taken off, especially since most new places in Glasgow seem to be massive chain burger joints these days!!! For those who might not be aware, Nic's NYC Deli is just that. They serve glorious pressed sandwiches with delicious flavour combos, hot dogs, taco bowls and pancakes among other tasty offerings - like their amaaaazing doughnuts and American goodies such as Twinkies (which I definitely want to try at some point, just because!) This branch also has the extra addition of crepes (sweet and savoury!) so those who frequented this place as a Crêpe à Croissant can still get their fix. There's always the worry that another branch won't quite have the same feel as the one you're used to, but I'm happy to report that this definitely isn't the case with this one. I absolutely adore the decor, it's really cool without looking like it's trying too hard and the whole place looks fab! As for the food, it is as delicious as ever! The bf opted for a chili dog last night as he hadn't tried their hot dogs at all yet, and he absolutely scarfed it down, totally loved it. I got their LA Club Lite (chicken, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes and either chipotle or dijon mayo) since I hadn't had that one yet and I flipping love avocado and bacon together. It was brilliant, the bacon was done extremely well which I love, and their ciabatta bread is very tasty indeed. We were gonna get some doughnuts to take away, but our server offered us a free one each since they've just opened! Result!! I've got a Snickernut sitting in its wee bag under my desk right now, but since it's lunchtime I have a feeling it might disappear fairly soon... What more can I say? The staff are great, the food is great, the prices are great too - I think all in we paid about £12 for our food and a drink each which, for the quality and size of everything is pretty darn good! It's extremely reassuring to know that if I feel the need for a Nic's I can just pop along and get one...the downside being this might happen far too frequently from now on!!!

As the name would suggest it's loaded with American style food, don't be down heartened though this is no run of the mill 'American diner' serving cheap hot dogs and yucky burgers from the cash and carry. The food from Nic's is tasty, well thought out and delicious. There are of course the likes of baked potatoes and sandwiches with lovely looking toppings to be enjoyed. My eyes however were very much glued to the Hot Dog menu where you can try such delights as the amazing Cheesy Pig Dog ( bacon and cheese) or the BBQ Dog (sweet fried onions, BBQ Sauce and dill pickle) or the very tempting Glasga Dog ( black Pudding and fried egg). What makes these dogs in my opinion the best take away dogs in Glasgow is that they fry off their dogs for a few minutes which makes them extra tasty. I've not tried the freshly made pancakes or waffles yet but they do come with some lovely looking toppings - the Banana Beast ( banana, maple, pecan nuts and ice cream) Peanut Butter Jelly Time (peanut butter and blackcurrant or strawberry jam) or the Sweet Porker Stack ( bacon and maple syrup) these are definitely next on my list to try from the menu. On my last visit I finally gave in to the cool looking doughnuts. These lovely little clouds of light dough are made in-house ensuring they are as fresh as they come. The base is so soft and flavoursome, the topping is a luscious thick layer of fondant sprinkled with a variety of American style toppings - Oreo, peanut butter cups, smarties, marshmallows......the list is endless. What really excited me tho was while chatting with the girls they announced that they were expecting their doughnut menus to arrive any minute. Hang on! Let's just think about that for a second........a menu......dedicated to doughnuts.......it's the stuff of dreams! Nic's is a great wee lunch spotwhere they use really good quality food and the girls who work there are all lovely and helpful when trying to make your selection....what's not to love about this place.

When you go in, it looks just like a normal deli... then you notice the amazing menu (taco bowls, proper dogs, "Triple Bypass" baguette etc.) and the cheeky bottle of Buckfast that's apparently used on Fridays to make some of their food a little more special. Going back to the food, it did take me a couple of minutes to choose what to have because EVERYTHING looked awesome. Even the SALADS!!! I was guided by the lovely staff who work there and plumped for the Taco bowl. A large, crispy tortilla shaped into a bowl stuffed with salad, guacamole, sour cream, PULLED PORK (this was my topping), covered with jack cheese and some Glasgow Megadeath chilli sauce. Great stuff. And for dessert you MUST get one of their special donuts... loads of flavours. Think Krispy Kreme but without the nasty aftertaste (you know what I mean!). If you've never been here, cancel all of your other plans and go here ASAP! You won't regret it...

A few items weren't labelled and had to guess what everything was, l bought a latte & a raspberry muffin that ended up being a red currant muffin. There was a few customers that came in to buy the last remaining bread, I did notice that the labels where written in Polish and not English, maybe this was to help the girl at the counter who was learning the language it did cause confusion with the person that was buying the bread as they didn't know what bread it was. I felt here was a language barrier as the server had little English and a customer came in looking to buy two bottles of balsamic dressing, I could see at least 8 bottles on the shelf, she said that they had sold out, l pointed out the mistake. I'm not sure the name is entirely accurate as they didn't seem to be hot when I purchased them - although the owner did tell me they are made fresh on site every day so they are HOT in that sense. Today there was a selection of doughnuts - no mini ones, sadly - I got the chocolate & blueberries, coconut and chocolate & custard doughnuts. Now, I'll be honest - I don't really have a sweet tooth and I prefer doughnuts which are relatively plain and sugar coated rather than icing. I've tried the chocolate & blueberries one so far and thought it was really good, clearly fresh and a really nice filling which was a bit unusual. Prices are reasonable at £1.50 for a two filling doughnut and £1 for a single filling. They also sell things like coffee, baked cheesecakes, hot dog bake and ham & cheese bake. I don't think they're very much like a regular doughnut as we know them and more like a big sweet filled bun with glazing. Their fresh, mini (and proper hot) doughnuts however I am a fan of. You can get them in plain sugared or coated in cinnamon. I opted for cinnamon & they were delicious. You get 4 smaller, ringed doughnuts for £1.20 which I think is really good, especially considering they cook them fresh to order. As well as doughnuts they sell baked cheesecake which I haven't tried yet and some savoury snacks too such as toasties. They also have a basic selection of hot drinks. The lady who works here is always really friendly and does try a bit of the ol' up-sale on you which is fair enough as they're a small business trying to get by and with just selling such few products at a very cheap price (most doughnuts are only £1 each) you do have to wonder how long they'll be around for... If you have never been in to Nics Deli (why not? what is wrong with you?) it is a cool, but incredibly busy little lunch spot with a wall of cool black and white pictures, a large service counter and a few painted wooden tables dotted around so you can choose to sit in. Okay! Okay! enough about the decor, lets talk about the food because this little slice of American heaven is a lunch time mecca for me - Hotdogs, Sandwiches, Wraps, Baked Potatoes, Salad Bowls and Taco Bowls crammed full of delicious and imaginative fillings....you can find their full menu here, I would tell you all my favourites but honestly I love them all. As well as a great choice of savoury options their sweet offerings are off the charts amazing - the donuts are INCREDIBLE, best donuts I have ever tasted, and again with amazing flavours and topping to choose from. Also on offer is a selection of light fluffy american pancakes and waffles with tons of lush flavours to choose from. Are you getting the impression that i love this place? Because I really really do. On this particular visit I ordered a foot long cheesy pig dog, which is a hotdog covered in bacon and melted cheese and was exactly as delicious as it sounds....although this is definitely something I need to eat with a fork and knife because it is so big and messy. For dessert I choose what can only be described as the king of all donuts - a cookies donut sandwich! I'll give you a moment just to process the thought of a cookie donut sandwich!....... The first time I tried Seb & Mili was with Queen B herself. We went over for some lunch and chit chat! I ordered from their brunch menu a plate of waffles and bacon, a combination that can't go wrong. However, my plate weren't as impressive as I'd hoped. The waffles themselves, though tasted fine, were SO SO SO thin! Aren't waffles suppose to be fluffy and crunchy on the outside but chewy on the inside? And the bacon, well ... I dunno ... weren't even crunchy? They were so pale, it was a tad questionable! I think Bri's special dish of chicken and corn was probably much better than what I got! The second time I went, I brought my friend over for coffee. She made the mistake of ordering a soy latte because boy was it baaaaadddd! They're obviously not the place to have a cuppa! They don't know how to make proper coffee at all, and add the bad management of soy milk, yikes! Her soy milk was curdling so bad that it looked like tofu. There's a certain method to making soy lattes/cappucinos, if you don't know it, don't serve it. Also, the coffee was burnt. Mine was as bitter as a car tyre. Added like 3 teaspoons of sugar to try and save it. Conclusion, don't order coffee from here. They have homemade cakes though, which are pretty ok I guess. We tried the muffins and brownies! Muffins are pretty decent but brownies were far too sweet for my liking. Perhaps a super sweet tooth would love it? Again, the space is lovely! Green and very comfy.
