The King Ferrero - Waffle topped with Nutella, chocolate sauce, ferrero rocher with a side of cream and vanilla ice cream.
Lainy S.

Going seperate places for your main and dessert is SO the way to go. Especially when you're just around the corner from Deesserts for lunch. I was out with my brother for a catch up and with the options for dessert being slim pickings we opted to try out this place. We had a quick glance at the menu outside and we seen the holy grail of desserts - waffles. Waffles a plenty! Waffles with all kinds of topping served with all flavours of ice cream. Now my brother and I kinda have this "one mind" thing going on and both immediately decided on the King Ferrero waffle - topped with chocolate sauce, nutella, crushed ferrero rocher and served up with a side of whipped cream and a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. We sat down and waited on our waffles to be brought to us. It's hard not to take in the decor at this point. Everything is contrasting black and neon pink. It's a very American-diner-in-a-barbie-movie kinda feel. Bright, bubbly, cheery... did I mention bright already? It must have some sort of effect though because there was a great buzz to the place, full of happy chatting friends tucking into mountains of dessert. There were a couple of families with ecstatic children tucking into crepes and ice cream sundaes. I've took a mental note to bring my little one here for ice cream in the future. The table next to us had also ordered waffles and we immediately noted that we could have ordered one waffle and shared. It was enormous! Ours came quickly after and looked very impressive and incredibly chocolatey. The waffle itself was fluffy and not too sweet. The toppings were obviously rich - you get what you ask for with melty nutella and ferrero rocher - but they were great on top of the waffle. We were only given a fork and knife so eating ice cream with a knife was a new challenge, but I managed like the trooper that I am. Now I have to admit, I tapped out after half of my waffle. Even my brother's cries of "shame" couldn't propel me to finish the enormous task in front of me. I asked if I could possibly get the rest to takeaway and the staff were happy to take it away and pack it up for me. I didn't manage to get much of it when I came home as I had an excited husband and toddler fighting over it, but it's just made me want to pay another visit. With crepes, sundaes, ice creams, waffle cone bowls, cakes and much more on offer there's plenty to come back for. Going elsewhere for dessert may just be a regular thing in the future.

One scoop of snickers ice cream

I scream you scream we all scream for ice cream! Deesserts have plenty going on besides ice cream, but one of their signs caught my eye on a hot day: one scoop to go for £2. Besides, I'd heard good things. They have a lot of flavours available here. All the classics that you'd expect and plenty more besides. I opted for a scoop of the Snicker's ice cream at the recommendation of one of the staff members. Incidentally, the staff here are really nice and seem to be exactly as happy as I imagine I would be if I worked in a desserts cafe. The ice cream was smooth and creamy, sweet without being over powering and just generally really good. I'll have to drop back in soon to try some of the other things Deesserts have on offer.

King Tutti Frutti sundae

Sooo many different things to choose from. So little time! It's a nice little spot to go if you're on a date and not ready to end it lol. Prices vary on what you get. But I think over all price is decent. Now on to what I ordered (king tutti fruiti). Now I know my picture looks huge but honestly I feel like there wasn't enough. Okay maybe I'm just being greedy but it was delicious! I do wish it was bigger with more ice cream and yes I did eat my king tutti fruiti All By MYSELF! I especially love the strawberry ice cream if my memory serves me correct I ordered the tutti with vanilla chocolate and strawberry. There's something for everyone here. If you're feeling modest to gluttony they got you!

Oreo Sensation Sundae

I would have liked to give it 3.5 stars but couldn't, so let's go for 4! I popped in yesterday night with some friends, it was already late (10.20pm and the place closes at 11pm) so we knew we had to rush. We sat in, we waited for like 10 minutes just to find out that they don't come to your table and take orders but you need to go to the counter yourself.. argh! We finally gave our orders, the boy at the counter advised us that since the place was closing soon he would have served our ice cream and crepes in take away and plastic cups.. we agreed and went to sit back. We didn't have to wait to long to have our desserts, they all looked amazing. I went for the Oreo Sensation Sundae, have to say that the quality of the ice cream is not really top class but i was not expecting an handcraft italian ice cream so that's fine LOL. Good for a treat if you are a chocolate greedy, if you want a real ice cream then better going somewhere else!

Nutty Ella Cookie Dough with strawberries instead of Oreos/Smarties - YUM!
Katerina H.

Went to Deesserts with a friend to treat ourselves and we were not disappointed! There weren't many people and we got seated immediately. It was so hard to choose sommething as there were so many great looking options on the menu, but finally I opted for Nutty Ella Cookie dough - a warm cookie dough drizzled with Nutella sauce and topped with crushed Oreos/smarties, served with vanilla ice cream. The staff was really friendly, I asked if I could change the Oreo/smarties topping for strawberries and they said it wasn't a problem and were happy to do so. The food arrived quite quickly and looked absolutely phenomenal. It also tasted so yummy, a warm gooey goodness on a plate, the strawberries complemented the sweetness of the cookie dough perfectly. It was quite filling, but I wasn't expecting nothing less for almost £6. Overall, I was nicely surprised with the place, I wish you didn't have to get up and order yourself though, as it brings the over impression down a little bit. But I do think I'll be back for more, when I feel like spoiling myself again!

Rum and raisin, raspberry ripple, classic vanilla, double chocolate, freakin' pistachio, irn bru?!…read more An ice cream place is only as good as the flavours it offers, right? I mean, later, when you've already bought a cone you can worry about consistency and about how well it even pulls those flavours off, but surely if they don't have the flavour you want you'll just go elsewhere. Crolla has a great range of flavours. As well as all the old classic flavours it has a few more exciting options as well as a small number of sorbets - perfect if you want something just a little more refreshing. Fortunately, they do manage to get the flavours right (at least all the ones I've tasted) and the consistency of the ice cream is always creamy perfection. They do so-called "real food" too. I recommend their student lunch deal which is a soup and half sandwich for a very reasonable price. The pizza cones look great too but I don't think I'd have any idea how to actually eat one. I'll try eventually and get back to you on that. Their coffee is pretty good too but really, you're here for the ice cream and the ice cream is good. Treat yourself to an extra scoop.

I haven't had ice cream in months either so I was super stoked! But as I was approaching the place with my partner and friends, we were greeted with a whole ton of MESS. Dirty sticky tables outside, covered in used napkins and to-go gelato cups that had dried up melted ice cream in it (can I say EW?). Seems like the staff don't care much about cleanliness??? We had to clean everything up before sitting at one of the tables outside, which really did make my impression of the place quite bad. When you go in, there are tables and benches that are the same; not cleaned and not cleared from cups and napkins. Is this place dirty or something? :/ I have no complaints about the staff member who served us though! He was a friendly lad! He laughed at me when I asked if the toppings and sauce for my gelato were free, and then proceeded to generously coat my gelato with thousands of sprinkles and chocolate sauce. I laughed in delight as I paid 3pounds for such a wonderful portion of ice cream. I also really liked the ice cream itself! Best way to describe - SINFUL. Guilt with every bite, but it's so worth it hohohohoho! The only comment is, please maintain the cleanliness of the premises! I mean, I'm not a picky person, I don't mind seeing tables uncleared if the staff members make an effort to clean it when they notice new customers coming in, but they saw us put our stuff down, they saw us sit outside with the dirty crap and sticky stuff on the table, and yet they just shrugged it off and left us to clear everything ourselves. Indifferent much?

Smile!!! It wont hurt you know?…read more That is what I felt like saying to the staff at Nardini's. Rarely have I ever seen a more unhappy looking bunch of staff in.... well... ever? I am a HUGE fan of ice cream and the more piled high it comes in glass dessert bowls the better. I love loads of flavours, toppings and sauce. The idea of a knickerbocker glory brings back great childhood memories. You can get a great dessert here, but sadly the desserts are let down by a variety of other things. Firstly the extremely unfriendly staff who would struggle to raise a smile even if the café was flooded with a gang of ten comedians giving out laughing gas. Then there is the general look of the place, it is all a bit run down and...... well... fusty perhaps? Finally the price. £7.95 for a dessert that would elsewhere cost about £5.95 max. If your going to sell desserts at a premium due to the name at least make the whole experience when you visit the café a good one. If you really want to go, you will probably enjoy the actual ice cream, my tablet one was tasty enough. I just doubt you would want to go back as it is missing the extra little touches that make you a fan of a place.

I've partaken of the occasional take-away scoop of ice-cream since they got their prime spot on the Byres Road, and it tasted just as good as it did in the olden days! Never been lucky enough to bag a spot inside their cafe before as its always been rammed, so the other week when I spotted a few empty tables I insisted we head inside for an ice-cream and a cuppa. I was a little surprised to find no table service at the cafe but perhaps that helps them get customers in and out quicker. Takeaway comestibles are served from the counter at the door. Customers who are sitting-in make their order at the rear counter. Its all very clean and comfortable and the air-conditioning is just at the right setting. The coffee was as good as you'd expect from an established Italian cafe, but for the first time I was a little disappointed with my ice-cream. I chose the Daim Bar flavour but there was so little of it in the ice-cream that it just tasted like vanilla. The other two were very happy with their choices but I'd have preferred a Mcdonalds McFlurry at a fraction of the price. Ho hum.

I started out with a mixed salad, it had chopped greens, a layer of tomatoes, red onions and drizzled with balsamic vinegar, not only was this mixed salad good looking it was great tasting too! For the main meal I went with Pollo Birra & Carciofi, which was pan roasted chicken breast with red onions, rosemary and artichokes in a sauce made from Italian handcrafted beer. Oh my! The chicken was so tender and good, the flavors of everything blended well, before I knew my meal was gone. I knew since I was indulging I needed to keep it moving and dive into dessert, after checking out the yummy menu I went with the Tronchetto Al Cioccolato- it was an Sicilian style chocolate cake, rolled together with Italia Amaretti & cookies served with nocciolate ice cream, oh sweet bliss! Every bite was just divine! Service was great and friendly. A truly great dinning experience, Tarantino offers creative Italian dishes.

Located just off the Finnieston strip next to Ox & Finch, we actually tried going here last year but for some reason they were closed on a Saturday night so we went to Mother India instead. A group of 5 of us visited for dinner last night. The restaurant is pretty small actually but not pokey - no one was seated right beside us and the music gives it a good atmosphere so you don't feel like people are listening to your conversation. The menu is really impressive - I pretty much wanted to eat every single dish. As Rocco G says, it's not your usual Italian dishes on the menu and you can be a little more adventurous here (although there is a section of traditional Italian dishes which are more common in the UK like bolognese, carbonara, lasagne). There's lots of eggplant/aubergine (drool) and loads of delicious-sounding seafood, as well as nod to Scottish folk with a chicken breast stuffed with haggis. There's even a good range of vegetarian dishes. I went for the scallops to start (£9.95) which were beautifully plump (is there any other way to describe a good scallop), served in a lovely tangy Aurum liqueur sauce. For the price I thought 3 scallops was very reasonable, and really enjoyed how perfectly they were cooked. For main I couldn't go past the gnocchi with king prawns in a white wine sauce (£11.95). It was a huge portion (too large, if I'm honest) but overall a really wonderful dish packed with flavour but not smothered in sauce, and really letting the puffs of gnocchi shine. There was one main large prawn (in the shell) and then smaller prawns scattered around the dish - again, for the price I thought this was really good value. I even went for dessert (something I rarely do) as I quite fancied the tiramisu (I think around £5). Again, great sized portion, lovely presentation and had a nice boozy/coffee kick to it. I couldn't eat it all so they happily popped it in a container for me to take home (guess what I'm having for lunch today?!). Service was great - we were looked after by two staff members who were both friendly and helpful. There was a mix up with the mains as one of our party didn't receive his, and they only realised as they were bringing out our dishes. I thought the way it was handled was really nice - they offered him some bread while he waited, and then took his dessert off the bill to say sorry. Life lesson: If Rocco G says it's good, it's going to be good.
