    Donuts!
    Austen M.

I had held of doing this review until I had visited more than once. Reason being is that first time round I had the heart stopper roll and was not overly fussed. It was pulled pork with a tattie scone and coleslaw. It was nice but not fantastic. I would pitch it as being an up market burger van food. But I think that's actually the key to liking this place. Don't think your are gonna get gourmet quality. They are doing lunch time food with a twist and it works. The range of inventive options is mind blowing and it is really really hard to choose. On my second visit I had a BBQ hot dog and it was great. Really tasty sauce, onions and a GIGANTIC gherkin to have with it. Now on to the Donuts!!!! They do donuts which seem like Krispy Kreme quality. With inventive fillings and toppings. I bought a box of six and they were all brilliant. Favourites were the m and m topped one and the peanut cream filled ring..... Final standout thing is the staff. Who are extremely friendly and proudly display their recent yelp award. Why 4 stars and not 5? Two reasons. The food is great, but not 5 star quality. Also the lack of seating apart from the outdoor seats in the less than inviting St Enoch square. Some of their rolls can be tricky to eat and I just wish they had some room for seats inside to shelter from the cold. Still a top notch place and I would totally recommend you give it a try.

Baby doughnuts for my wee cousin Joseph - so cute!

Nic's is without a doubt one of the best things to have ever happened ever. Their food, service, everything is just brilliant and I only wish I could come here more often! I work in Alloa and so the only day I can go here is a Saturday. One of the genuine reasons I miss working in Glasgow is because there are so many lunch options! *pines* I've only been here a few times (sadly!) but I have had the New Yorker sandwich (pastrami, Swiss cheese, pickle and mustard...mmmmmmm) and it was not only delicious, but massive! Such good value for money, I'm dying to try the rest of the menu as well - especially the pancakes. And now for the doughnuts. Oh the doughnuts. I'll admit there have been many times I've moaned because Glasgow doesn't have a Krispy Kreme, but Nic's doughnuts make this a non-issue! They do such a wide range and they're also reasonably priced (and big!) and I totally love them. There are still loads of different ones I'd like to try, so I'll obviously have to go back at some point. What a shame!! About a month ago I ordered some doughnuts for my cousin and his wife who'd just had a wee boy, and they were so brilliantly decorated! A nice wee change from the usual baby presents, cupcakes etc. as well. Pic will follow :) and at just under £15 for 12 personalised doughnuts, you really can't go wrong with that! As with most reviews I write where I totally love a place and start thinking about the delicious things they do, this is making me want to go to Nic's immediately! Need to try out their new Hope Street place at some point anyway, I think it's great they've got somewhere you can sit in now, as their food definitely deserves more than being hastily shoved in your gob while on the move! (Although this is also good, I won't lie.)

OMG. While sitting eating my fish n chips, I noticed this place. I thought I'd check it out. I asked what donuts they had, they Lou ted to their display. Everyone of them looked great. I went for the Snicker-Nut. They asked if I had a peanut allergy first. They should have the donut pictures on their window, as that is what will pull people in. Again. Wow.

    Box of heaven!

Oh my MY! I can't really speak from drooling. I was introduced to this little delight by a colleague who had had the most interesting lunch, a sandwich alluringly entitled Double D's; a pair of unglazed donuts with roast chicken, bacon, cranberry and mango sauce and lettuce and mayo. But it was their donut menu that attracted me. With doughy delights that blow Krispy Kreme out the water, I couldn't wait to get my calorific hungry mouth around their Big Salted Apple, a 'nut with apple pie, oozing out of a salted caramel topped fondant. The second time I opted to treat myself to one of their reasonably priced sandwiches, and plumped for a Vietnamese Chicken Twerker on ciabatta bread (£4Roast chicken, mushed avocado mixed with coriander and lime salsa, and skippy peanut butter! I made such a mess of myself as I inhaled this heavenly creation. And ye know what? I didn't care! After raving about it to my Mum and her friends I was obligated to pick up one of their dirty half dozen. A box of six of their wonderfully unique donuts, at a very worthwhile £6.99. I was also lucky enough to have them cater for a work event, and the pulled pork, slow cooked garlic beef and chilli con, and sin, carne did not disappoint!

Chicken, bacon, avocado, chipotle...with some lettuce too...

There is a fully stocked deli counter of pakora, bhaji and other Indian delights, as well as the obligatory revolving kebab stick. There is a separate chip shop counter for all of the usual chip shop fare, including a good old roll and fritter and pickles a plenty. The staff are friendly and full of fun, always providing some friendly banter to their local punters. The name says it all really, all the food you could want, all in one lovely little place.

When all else is closed for sleepy times All In One keeps us nocturnal animals & eaters going. Thank you AIO! I used to only come in here on a late night for the usual post-night out food - chips & cheese or the occasional pakora. This place has so much more to offer us though. Nowadays I come here for they're stupendous baked potatoes (yes, a baked potato CAN be stupendous!), they're a good (big) size and you get a very generous amount of toppings & yummy salad. Also they're super cheap. Woo. I can also say the pizzas here are pretty good too - not your fancy Italian style but nevertheless still pretty good. What is really good here is their curries. I have so far only tried a few veggie ones & a couple of chicken ones (their Chicken Tikka & Saag Aloo being my 2 favourites) with garlic naan or buttered chapati & rice and it is all SO damn tasty! Their curries don't feel mega unhealthy either and the taste is always scrummy. For the price you're paying for a take-away curry here it really is the best I've ever had from a take-away/kebab shop. Always friendly guys too (sometimes a little tooooo friendly if ya know what I mean...hut-hum!) & swift & speedy service. I probably never would have eaten much from here bar the usual chips n' cheese if hadn't been for my friend recommending the place to me, I'm so glad she did.

Dennistoun BBQ does super casual dining really well. You order at the counter and wait around 10-15 minutes (maybe longer if its super busy) and then they'll shout your name so you can grab your food. I have very specific taste in beef burger so more often than not, I start with a chicken burger at a new place before trying a beef one - I think chicken is generally done better than beef. This chicken burger was RIDICULOUS in size, it was mostly all hanging out of the bun as it was so big. Am I complaining? No way, it was absolutely delicious and had that juicy, smoky freshness from grilled chicken that so many places screw up by overcooking. It was hard to eat though so I ended up just aiming on eating the fillet rather than the burger. I tried a couple of sides; cajun fries and mac cheese. The cajun fries are amazing and probably the best I can remember eating in Glasgow. There was just the right amount of seasoning and they packed a good punch. You know what makes Cajun fries even better? Dipping them into mac cheese. Oh yeh, I went there and I'm not ashamed. My friend Sharon M wasn't all that impressed with the mac cheese but she is pretty judgemental (I mean that as a compliment, she makes a damn amazing mac cheese) - personally, I liked it. It was cheesy, the mac was cooked just right. Simple, and good. This isn't the kind of place to eat and then sit about chatting with your pals, so we headed up the road for dessert. I'll be back sooner rather than later for more of that ridiculous chicken. They also do takeaway - phone in your order so you don't have to wait too long as it was really busy on a Friday night. I understand why.

I didn't know what state the trains were in, with all the lines down with the wind, so I was going to head for a bus. I had just missed one so instead of waiting a half hour in the wind and rain Micky Ds was the next best option. It was good in the sense it was quiet compared to the Saturday craziness of neds and trendys swinging from the fixings. So I got served straight away, so it started off well. Once the ordering process began it just went down a bit wet slippery slope of Micky Ds milkshake. I started to order and was about get charged £3.17 when I realised it was just the same as a Happy Meal, so I had to say to the man serving. So he didn't look too pleased and gave a big huff and voided the order. So ok I hadn't realised, my fault, I was tired, but to be honest I am the customer. Accidently though I have done this before and the member of staff did picked up on it and suggested the Happy Meal, which was very good of them. Anyway I handed over my £2 and then he slammed the till drawer shut and walked away. I was like ehhh........ my change??!! My meal?? Eh...what...food??! Anyway another young member of staff came up and she gave me my meal, so he had passed over my order to someone else and didn't tell me what was happening. I said to the young girl I didn't get my change, which she was shocked by, I said if you could take it out the till and just put it in the charity box instead. I doubt it happened to be honest. Oh I forget to mention that the man serving was a manager. The service was appauling. I know my change wasn't much but to me it's the principle of the situation. To them it's another 1p in their "big money making" pocket instead of mine or a charity's and I'd rather it went to the latter. I managed to find a half decent seat as most of the tables were dirty, mines was still grubby and had to give it a bit of a clean. You would think with it not been that busy that clearing the tables would have been taking care of. At the end of the day I did choose McDonalds out of all the nice restaurants in Glasgow I could have went to. It was for quickness, cheapness and convience which it did provide me. Well that's were it's earned it's one star.

I managed to squeeze in to the queue around 2pm and I could tell they had just been through the ringer with the lunch crowd. The guy ahead of me wanted a chicken tikka sandwich but they were out of a couple of the ingredients, so he ordered something else. When it was my turn to order, the guy jokingly said 'let's see if I'm able to make your sandwich!" I ordered the Chiken Ole which was chicken meat, manchego cheese, chorizo, salsa and a spicy mayo on ciabatta. The only one thing they didn't have was the salsa, which in exchange they offered me a bit of salad with some sweet chili sauce. I decided against the sauce and took the salad! What a delightful sandwich this was. My stomach is growling just thinking about it! The bread was freshly baked and so delicious, even at 2pm. The ingredients were all fresh and piled high in to the bread. I also grabbed a bag of crisps and a lemon mint san pellagrino. The greatest lunch on the go I've had in a long while. The guys in here were cool as anything and the music was great. The queues might be long but the sandwiches are worth it. They also serve soups, coffee and baked goods if you're looking for something sweet. I will be back for sure!
