They even told me the origin behind the name (everyone probably knows it now) & I always loved the funny & cool names they used for all their food things (the Stoofa always makes me smile!). This place would be a solid 5 stars if it wasn't for one thing: their opening hours. I know due to their location it probably doesn't work & I'm sure they have tried opening a bit later and maybe that didn't work BUT they used to be open on a Saturday and this was the one & only time I could really ever make it along for some WTMS tastiness & some rockin' tunes and now they are no longer open on a Saturday :-( My boyfriend & I used to love popping along here after a wee jaunt round the town on a Saturday, but alas no more can we do this...I don't work anywhere near this place either so coming here for lunch is a no-go too. Such a shame. Can't even pop in for a cheeky Oreo Speedwagon (I LOVE this name!!!) on my way home as they shut at 5pm. Dang. I am missing my WTMS bagel-fix. I love their bagels. I used to change it up and I have tried quite a few different foods in here but I just can't stray from the bagels now (sounds like a love song). Tasty tasty goodness. Quality ingredients combined in interesting & delicious ways nuzzled between beautiful bagels. UH. YES. On my last visit (I was lucky to have a day off mid-week & popped in town for some much missed monkey action) I had a delicious coffee with an Operation bagel ~ this is Roast chicken, red onion, leaves, house Caesar dressing, thyme, parmesan, balsamic and lemon juice and it is divine! Another favourite is the Firewalker (Smoked turkey, mature cheddar, sun-dried tomatoes, red onion, chillies and lemon juice) and the Witchfynder (Chorizo, smoked cheese, spring onion and chilli mayo). So damn good. I mentioned above the Oreo Speedwagon (Haha! Love that name too!) & I really find it hard to visit here without having one as I love it. It was one of the first (and only) places at the time to serve a milkshake-like drink with Oreos in it. If you haven't tried one then please do ~ you wont regret its milky, creamy Oreoy (?!) goodness *slurp* The toilet here is something to behold - the walls are completely covered from toes to nose (well, and then some) with rock posters/stickers and it is ace. You can't help but sit there and wonder at them all. I'm sure this is the reason anyone who enters this loo takes *slightly* longer to reappear than normal. At least I hope thats the reason... I love all the wee rooms & nooks & crannies this place has. Comfy sofas, books to read & such a relaxed atmosphere. It made me giggle when I was last in sitting there on this seen-better-days sofa opposite me where 2 suited-up business guys devouring their bagels whilst heavy metal played in the background. It was beautiful sight to behold. I have 3 wishes of WTMS ~ 1) that they reopen on a Saturday or Sunday or C) they open a sister/brother cafe (preferably in the West End) so more folk can experience the monkey loving bagel delightness. There are loads of different options, nothing massively different or fancy, but often at lunchtime all you want is something filling and yummy, which is definitely what you get here! There are soups, sandwiches, hot and cold filled rolls (and I believe breakfast items as well?) plus toasties which all come with different fillings and you can pick whatever you want. They aren't stingy with the fillings at all as well which is great! I also highly recommend the macaroni cheese because it's DELICIOUS, you get a fair amount and it's just what you need when the weather's not the best and you still have to face an afternoon of work. Everything's really reasonably priced for what you get as well, especially when you compare it to some of the other places around there. Due to said delicious food, the place is always packed at lunchtimes with hungry workers, and the queue often goes right out the door - not that inside is massive, mind you. However, I never ended up waiting very long as the staff always serve people really quickly, they're very efficient! There are also different snacky things you can grab like the usual packets of crisps, teacakes and other Tunnock's stuff and also some very scrummy home baking - the caramel shortcake in particular is a delight. It is takeaway only so I guess that could be a downside for some people if you've got nowhere to take your food back to, but they really couldn't fit any tables in there!

When the slightly nervous server took out a whole chicken breast and started to carve it up, that's when I started to look at my surroundings in a new way. The coleslaw was devine and clearly homemade, and as I looked at the sandwich fillings spread out behind the sparkling sneeze guard, I suspected that they were all homemade and of the same standard. No fat encrusted subway bacon here! It has a little breakfast bar at the back to sit in, and aside from the nervousness of the server, both the people working there were very friendly considering I was only there for two tics. My wrap must have been one of the best - and affordable hurried lunch rolls I've had in town - definitely will go back.

They're a social business which means they give 100% of their profit to good causes, and help to feed the local homeless community as well. I think it's such an amazing idea and really appreciate that they're trying to do something worthwhile! But the big question is - is the food actually decent? I've been meaning to try it out for ages but only ever seemed to pass by when I'd already eaten. I finally made it here when I was looking for some lunch to-go, and grabbed the chicken pot noodle. They also have a huge selection of sandwiches, as well as some more unusual options like a mezze box and salads. The chicken pot noodle is £3.50 but it's like no pot noodle you'd grab at the supermarket - this one has actual fresh things in it, like vegetables (cucumber, carrot and spring onion) and lovely chunks of real chicken. They top it up with boiling hot stock at the counter for you so it's ready to eat in 3 minutes. The staff go out of their way to explain why Social Bite is different, without being robotic or pushy. They'll give you a loyalty card which gets you some sweet discounts - 50% off or a free lunch the more you visit. If I worked in town, I know I'd be visiting Social Bite all the time - who could resist the delicious food with the added bonus of the warm & fuzzy feeling you get from helping out a good cause? I can't wait to see Social Bite take over the world with their great idea. (There's a second Glasgow shop opening on Bothwell Street soon!)

This year I'm definitely up for giving more to charity and this enterprise is right up my street. They claim to give 100% of profits to good causes, which is pretty awesome and I hope they manage to keep on doing so. This store is their second after the flagship Edinburgh venue. The menu is very similar to that of Pret A Manger with various baguettes, sandwiches, noodles, salads and panini's all on offer with artisan fillings. They also do what looked like a lovely wee line in Rwandan coffee but I'm sadly on a caffeine diet this week. I had the Parma Ham, chorizo, mozzarella and pesto panini (£3.99), toasted and to go. It was really tasty, the tomato pesto particularly tasted so fresh. The store design is cool, laid back, bit hipster-ish...think Pret mixed with Starbucks. I did really like the various saying's printed on the walls about the company ethos and the case studies of the people they have so far helped in to the workplace. The lady that served me was super friendly and only too happy to suggest to me additional extras with my meal and also gave me a loyalty card (eat 5 times and get lunch half price, 10 times and get it free). This is the kind of wee business Glasgow needs and I really hope it thrives. It has some heavy competition like Pret, Subway, Costa, Starbucks and Greggs all in close vicinity so I urge all office types to ditch the pretentious Pret salad for a day and have a Social Bite!

Also has your usual meal deals, crisps, fruit, juice, and some cakes (they're only there if you go early enough though, sad times). It does get busy, and the paninis do take 5-10 minutes to be made, but it's worth the wait... So there you have it, no messin', straight up: Paninis.

It's super close to Central Station, a couple of blocks along Argyle Street from Central Bridge. The space has huge vaulted ceilings, making it feel really spacious. It's got a rustic feel with exposed brick and supports, but managed so make it feel like intentional grunge rather than trying-too-hard-to-be-industrial. The food is as great as it is at the other location, and the staff are just as friendly. The tables are always sticky and the seating is plastic, but you have everything you need. The nuclear beans are excellent, cheesy and warming with a good level of spice. I also often go for the Witchfinder General - a bagel with grilled chicken, chorizo, melted cheddar, chipotle mayo and lettuce. It's really filling and the mayo gives it a good tang to balance out the chorizo, and the little bit of salad on top lightens up what might otherwise be a heavy lunch. (Ok, it's still kinda heavy, but I don't mind). A small thing, but I also appreciate the drinks selections here - along with coke and Irn Bru they stock a few flavours of fruity San Pellegrino drinks, and Bundaberg ginger ale. I never know what I'll be in the mood for so it's great to have some options with different levels of caffeine and sweetness.

I chose one of their remaining items: a small cake that had a touch of lemon and a raspberry on top of a creamy frosting. It was delicious--a welcomed treat when I felt in need of a pick me up. I did not have a chance to test their food so am unable to comment. Do note however: This is a VERY small place. Cozy to be sure, but small and by no means for larger groups. It is ideal for the soloist and duos to come in and have a fairly quick coffee, cake, and food (I assume). This is NOT a place to study. There are no comfortable lounge chairs, chairs or tables. The seating is composed of stools that reside at two bars. It's kind of reminding me of Italian style cafes where you drink your espresso at the bar, across from the barista who just served it to you (though in Rome, they don't offer you stools even!). Given the level of their coffee and cake, I'll be back again soon.
