Fantastic waitstaff behind the counter. Huge donuts which were all very delicious. I will return!

Delicious donuts! A little pricey but worth it. The chocolate one was to die for and I loved how many other unique flavors they have as well. If you're in the neighborhood by the Kelvingrove museum, definitely check this place out.

Right, I have Opinions about doughnuts. My Opinions about doughnuts are much like my opinons about pizza: All pizza is good, but that doesn't mean you can't distinguish good pizza from great pizza. In the same way, great doughnuts are doughnuts you're going to be thinking about all day. They're doughnuts you're going to wish you'd bought more of. They're doughnuts you're going to look forward to going back for later. So I guess you could say this is a pretty positive review. I went into Tantrum this morning and selected a candied pistachio doughnut and a latte to go. I've been thinking about that doughnut since. I'd originally planned to split it with someone but that idea went out of the window pretty quickly. So now I just have to work my way through the rest of their selection. Now, it's not super cheap, but if you pay Gregg's prices you get Gregg's products and lets face it; you deserve better than Greggs. A doughnut costs anything from £1.00 for a classic glazed ring to over £2.00 for something a bit more special. The coffee prices are pretty standard for the West End. Go, try them out. Just save some for me. Note: I heard that they aren't doing gluten free doughnuts yet but they do hope to in the future.

I was passing through and came into visit this business on afternoon. There was a few people in line and with only two members of staff service was rather on the slow side Cash only no cards taken. On display there was a few donuts but the selection was very much on the poor side, I ordered a latte & peanut butter donut to go. The coffee served wasn't the best taste and for the donuts the looked and tasted more like bought in ones.

I was starting to feel like I was the only person in Glasgow who hadn't made it along to Tantrum Doughnuts so I was very excited when Sharon M suggested we visit after lunch at The Grumpy Goat nearby. I totally agree with Sara M - I love that they're doing one thing (and a few side things) and doing it really well. This is a doughnut place, so don't go expecting sandwiches, pies or fancy dress costumes. It's all about the doughnuts. The shop is small - there's some seats if you want to eat in (maybe about 10) but it seems like mostly a take away operation. We waited in line (something I never do) to be served - the staff were friendly and smiley which is nice to see! The doughnuts are all made fresh so you might not get a full selection but I was impressed with what was on offer and the pricing - most doughnuts are around £1.70 - £2.50 which is very cheap when you consider that they're proper fancy gourmet doughnuts! I made Sharon M pay for my doughnuts because I erroneously thought I didn't have any cash. They take card so I could have paid for my own damn doughnuts (and I later discovered that I did indeed have cash - yesterday was one big fail for me). Anyway. I got a creme brulee (£1.75 take away) and a pistachio creme brulee (£2.30 take away) which I then I had to leave in the car for 8 hours which I feel is some sort of crime against doughnuts. Safe to say the doughnuts looked absolutely hideous from sweating in the car for 8 hours so I didn't take a photo but I was stoked to find they still tasted super good! I love how they have a glaze on them so they really are like a creme brulee! With Grunting Growler (beers!) opening down the road today, you really will be able to treat yourself to the ultimate afternoon of beers and doughnuts! I'll be doing that soon, for sure. Note: I know what I said yesterday about not really being a cake person, well that is still true - I only had half a doughnut last night and had to stop there because that was enough sweetness for me! They also do coffee, milkshakes and marshmallows if you want an accompaniment to your doughnuts. And you get 10% off if you buy a dozen.

So close to the park, it's wrong NOT to eat them in the sun. Seriously; wrong. Stop it.

Glorious, delicate, sumptuous, more-ish, delish ... The only thing you can do with a review here is say everything is amazing and list what everything means. Yuzu curd fillings. CHECK! Creme brulé. CHECK! Toasted marshmallows. CHECK IT BEFORE YOU WRECK IT! Hazelnut & Chocolate. MORE CHECKS THAN THE BANK ON PAY DAY! Maple & Bacon. Shalom alCHECKhem! Seriously, why are you still reading this review and not running to Tantrum, ugly running, with flappy arms, like Phoebe in Friends?

Ah phooey! I am a huge lover of doughnuts, but not of Tantrum Doughnuts. Sorry. Stopped in today as I was in the area and decided to try the Almond Buttermilk Old Fashioned and the PB&J. I took them to go as I was heading home and by the time I got them home, the grease in them had soaked straight through the bag (in a 10 minute car journey). I took them out and cut them in half, thinking that because I'm nice, I might leave the other halves for my guy, but honestly, I'm not sure I could manage a whole doughnut of each of these two doughnuts as they are sickeningly sweet and not to my liking at all. I'm giving this place three stars because the staff were friendly and welcoming and I like the fact that these doughnuts are made in house, but I'm not a fan of the doughnuts and that's a shame! I spent £3 in total which is a steal compared to other doughnut establishments but I feel quite sick now because of how sweet these doughnuts are. If you like super sweet, super dense doughnuts, this place is for you. I, however, won't be rushing back to get a doughnut fix here.

Doughnuts to go with a freshly toasted homemade marshmallow

I'd heard about this place and decided to take myself along and see what all the hype was about. Was able to get parked outside easily at lunch time on a Sunday! The shop it's self is small but cosy and when I was in I could see them making doughnuts in the back (they later updated Facebook to say they had completely run out of doughnuts, but it was Valentine's Day so that might have had something to do with it!) I went for a chocolate marshmallow milkshake which had a freshly toasted marshmallow on top. It was amazing I highly recommend it. I also went for a creme brûlée doughnut which had a caramelised sugar topping that cracked when you bit into it. It was also filled with a lovely vanilla creamy custard. Check this place out, you won't be disappointed!

    PB&J!

I've been following Tantrum Doughnuts for a while now, even before they made an appearance at Gesso, and I really liked the idea of having new flavour combos for doughnuts. So I'm definitely a fan of this experimental duo! I'm glad that they opened up a shop too cause it only gives more of a reason to leave the house and spend more of my money on more food, especially doughnuts!!! (I'm a huge doughnut girl. I've been deprived) They're located like 2 mins away from the Kelvingrove Museum, along old Dumbarton road, won't be hard to find! The day of their opening, they told me they were so busy but in a good way! Of course I expected it seeing as they are quite popular online! While I was there, I order one of everything they had; the buttermilk almond doughnut and PB&J one for me to sit in, and to pack home, an addition of pistachio and creme brûlée doughnuts (bought these as a Christmas gift for my friends to try!). I am in love with the PB&J! It was my fav! The saltiness of the peanut and the sweetness of the jam went so well together! The buttermilk almond was nice too but on the sweet side for me. I think I'd prefer the doughnuts with a bit more diversity in terms of flavour, but it's still good!! My friends really loved the pistachio one! So far, their fav! :D I also ordered a latte, and I think the coffee beans are by Papercup so you know the roast is quite nice. It was a decent cuppa, went well with my doughnuts so can't complain there. 2 sit-in doughnuts, 4 takeaway doughnuts and a coffee totalled up to £12.80! That's not bad seeing as these doughy things really fill you up! Staff are friendly as ever and happy to see so many doughnut-craving people haha though in a daze when I was there; methinks the crowd burnt them out a little on the first day, but that's just good news for them!! :) people kept coming in non-stop while I was there, even policemen haha Anyway, definitely heading back to try more flavours! I think they will keep changing up flavour depending on their mood haha always good to change things up!

A work friend turned up this morning with some 'designer' donuts from Tantrum. Luckily for me (not for my diet however!) one of these donuts had my name on it. She'd picked up a dozen and they all looked amazing! I went for the creme brûlée and was pleasantly surprised at the perfect crunch when I bit into it with a delightful almost fluffy centre. Mid meeting I had to stop to express my delight! Well, to be honest the 'mmmmm' fell out all by itself. And just when I thought it couldn't get any better... smooth, silky vanilla creme came oozing out. MY GOODNESS! Where have you been all my life!? Having had a trio from Krispy Kreme just a couple of days before. I have to say that this donut was far superior. It was crazy good. And apparently all the donuts were an average of about £2, which I think is great! I'll be sure to make a visit for my own dozen - when I next decide it's ok to break my diet... Again. Until next time!

Lovely, doughnuts were fresh, tasty and delicious, great toppings and the coffee was good too :) Only minus was it was possibly a bit warm inside when sitting in having coffee Will be back next time we are in the area

At long last. A decent doughnut place in Glasgow (replace decent with amazing). This place is really cool - even if it is a bit off the beaten track. The doughnuts were brilliant. So well made with what tasted and appeared to be actual fresh ingredients - none of your fake, pre-packed and additive ridden stuff. Proper doughnut-y goodness right here. They also weren't drowning in oil either which was a pleasant change to the heart attack guff I've had elsewhere. I punted for the pistachio creme brulee doughnut and it was nothing short of sublime. Coupled with a cappucino, it was just the sugar hit I needed. But of course I had to get a few doughnuts boxed up to take up the road to be sure, right? Thoroughly recommend this place and I for one will be back soon (I hope).

    Kathryn L.

A great wee place not far from Kelvingrove for some donuts, coffees and even slushies (not like your usual Krispy Kreme, but far better with unique flavours). I had a latte and classic almond donut but we ended up trying everyone else's and I have to say they were all gorgeous but my favourite has to be the peanut butter and jelly! Highly recommend going here and of course you can buy a takeaway box to sneakily eat some later!

Glaswegians, your cafes have definitely spoiled me and I can't find anything that compares to this in the U.S. When you walk in, you automatically get this cozy and warm feeling. Try to get a seat in the upstairs dining area, because this is where you will feel the most warmth. I also like sitting in the bar stools by the window because I like looking outside at the rain. If you find yourself waiting for a table, just take that time to browse the pastries, savory foods laid out, and even their selection of cookbooks. Their selection of cake and tarts change daily, but if they have leftovers one day then they serve the leftovers the next day until they are gone, but a lot of the time their pastries sell out on the first day. Bonus to this is that your pastries are definitely fresh! But the pastries still taste good even if they are a day old. Trust me. My go-to pastries were the Belgian Chocolate Cake or the vanilla custard tarts. This cake has hazelnuts inside of it and is served with raspberries, chocolate bits, dusted with sugar on top. If you love chocolate, this cake is the way to go. The vanilla custard tarts reminded me of home (because I would get Egg Tarts at Chinese bakeries and this vanilla custard tart tasted just like a egg tart) The only difference is that the tart at Kember & Jones had flaky layers of crust, which made the tart even better. My go-to drinks are hot chocolate or the Moroccan Fresh Mint Tea. The hot chocolate is served with foam and little chocolate bits on top. The Mint tea is served in a clear glass, but it comes hot (which was weird because I didn't think you would serve hot drinks in a glass) but I understood why because it has a bunch of mint leaves in it that changes the color of the drink to a light tan. It's cute and if you have a sore throat, it will make you feel better. Other things that I have tried and loved were the Warm Waffle (because it was served with syrup and fresh fruit), the French Lemonade (It was pink lemonade with a little bit of sourness), and the macarons (They make different ones each week. Try all of them because they go fast! I have to say during Christmas time their Christmas pudding one tastes pretty good, too.) Last thing to note is that the staff is very nice. I never really feel pushed to leave. They are polite and attentive.

That was until I visited last weekend and left feeling bitterly disappointed. Now I'll be fair, Jelly Hill is first and foremost a wine bar and my visit was for lunch on a Saturday so I'm probably not seeing the place at its full potential. But my first Jelly Hill experience went like this- My boyfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to lunch so we rocked up at 1pm to a bustling cafe- good sign. When we walked in, we weren't really sure whether to take a seat or head to the counter, and sure enough a member of staff walked past without giving us so much as a smile. We quickly found the only table that was available but we were reluctant to sit there- it was right in the middle of the floor, which was clearly the owner's haphazard attempt to squeeze as much money as possible out of the place; it clearly shouldn't have been there. As we sat down we were blocking the way to the counter on one side, and the fridge where customers collect their ready-made paninis to the other. I literally had someone leaning over my lunch for them to pick out theirs. Now I'll try not to rant about those paninis too much. BUT Jelly Hill has obviously seen the benefits of serving lunch but can't be bothered doing it properly- so they stock a fridge of ready-made paninis for customers to collect and take to the til. I'm in favour of being able to have something savoury when I go for a coffee or drink but they were really over-priced and small in size. Another gimmick which I would advise you against is you can have your tiny panini with a 'lunch plate'- pay an extra pound and have a spoonful of mass produced coleslaw and four or five crisps. No thanks. I enquired about the soup- 'Do you have a vegetarian option?' to 'Well we have a vegetable soup but I think it might have meat stock in it, I'm not sure.' Hmph. Great. In the end we had one Panini, one scone and two smoothies- our bill was over £12. I'll go back to Jelly Hill, but it'll be at night for a stiff drink.
