Super long line that takes forever to get through. Order at counter and then find a table. Had to ask to get the table cleaned. They forgot our order. People behind us in line received their food and we had to ask for ours. Shake is dark chocolate and by itself is good, not the best, very rich and doesn't taste or pair well with the food. Burgers are ok. Fries were a little crisp for my liking. The Fatty Patty was decent. Overall nothing to write home about. I wouldn't go back here again. Felt gross after from all the tallow. For the price and drive, not worth it. read more

The food was incredible. But this was expected, I read up on this place before going in. The service was efficient, kind and well managed. I love the way the place is setup, the decor and design were quirky and cute. I loved the burger that I got, I'm a "plain burger" girl but that really lets me know which burger really stands out for me. Just meat cheese and bun. This burger was absolutely one of the best I've eaten, and I really enjoyed it. But what really stood out for me was the sweet tea. I've never had honey sweet tea before but now that really does feel like a tragedy for a tea lover like me. I'm forever going to be attempting to duplicate this magic tea. Anyways, everything was amazing, would absolutely come again...even if only for the tea read more

Small one way parking lot. Enter from main side and exit to side road. Needed dinner before heading in for the night. It's a medium-large eatery. Ordering counter is 2 steps into the door. Can see why other reviews mentioned the line can wrap outside the doors. The cashier was a young woman with a neutral - friendly personality. Cohesive team. Ordered a burger with fries. I want to say it was superb, but it honestly wasn't. It was interesting. The way they made the smash burger created a nice meat crisp. However the flavor was lacking. Best description would be the meal was like eating with my eyes. Aesthetic. Suspenseful. Filled the stomach for $30+. Left the meal unsatisfied. Greasy. None of the tastebuds sang songs forever entombing this meal as a craving. On the plus side, the leftover stench of burger was easy to wash off with soap! Nothing like the lingering odor of In-N-Out on the fingers. read more

Yummy burgers and excellent chocolate shakes at a fun, bustling, family-friendly, indoor/outdoor restaurant. Went on a busy Sunday night so the line was long, but moved well enough and we weren't in a hurry. Super casual, but clean and inviting. Staff was very nice. We'll be back! read more

The burgers are fantastic and love the chili to set the mood. Service was really fast considering the huge line and love the ambiance. This will be a regular stop for traffic relief. read more

Tanner’s Prime - Outside inline waiting - Burgers Near Me - Oceanside, California

Great burger spot, has a nice neighborhood feel and line moves quickly. Great addition to Oceanside.

Went for the first time this past Sunday with my family. It was very busy but we didn't mind the wait. The outdoor space was comfortable, with the bar close by with quick access to drinks. There were three big TV screens playing a variety of sports games. Now for the food, the burgers were great and full of flavor. I was especially a fan of the Tanner hot sauce that was given with the meal. They were out of the hazy IPA that we wanted to try, yet the other alcohol choices did not disappoint-- the tanner's prime IPA was a solid beer. Would definitely recommend checking out this new place. read more

Very good burger- but wow, is it rich! They are known for using beef tallow which gives a deep flavor but .... it's really rich. Same with the fries, they cook it in beef tallow. While I really enjoyed it, it kind of stuck with me after. A single was all I needed, for me a double would be too much with that beef tallow. Don't get me wrong, I like it, it's just really rich. I've now used that word too many times so I think you get the point. Ambiance is great, service was good, place was clean. Next time I want to try the dirty fries but if having a burger with it, I'd recommend splitting these with others. Ample seating but this place is so popular it's pretty crowded. I really liked the outdoor tables. It's also in a small restaurant strip that's really cool (bakery next door and then two more restaurants to try, one across the street). Parking, however, is a nightmare! I had to park in the neighborhood a few blocks away which is residential and I kind of feel bad for the people who have homes nearby. I don't mind walking but I think you need to be mindful of the people who live there. You can smell the food from two blocks away and there are people constantly coming and going.... If you go, might be best to try during off peak times. I'll come back. It's become so popular that they might need to find a bigger space! read more

Yes! Oh Yes! Burgers can at times be like Pizza when preference is met with the variety of options here in San Diego! You cannot go wrong with these Burgers. I love the smash style and flavor made my taste buds want more! So I tried the Dirty Fries along with the burger and found my new favorite! We sat outside and it was lovely! While waiting in line to order on a Sunday afternoon, staff member - Jo stepped in to welcome us, find an available seat and take our order. She was very friendly, helpful and upbeat about this being our first time here. Look forward to coming back....sooner than later! read more

Went to Tanners tonight for my first real meal after oral surgery recovery. The food was great but the cashier taking my order was so busy chatting up a guy in a suit at 'the bar', it took FOREVER for her to remember she had a customer in front of her! Didn't just happen to me but my friend in front of me had the same experience. The line to get to order was way way long ( into the parking lot). Didn't have to be like that if she was ON HER JOB!!! The other workers were very attentive. If I see her again at the register....I will leave! This was 10/09/25 at 6:30 pm. read more

Well what can I say about this place... Great location, Great people, and Great food. First of all this spot is becoming one of these spots where you can just get great food no matter which place you walk into and now Tanner's is another one to add to the list. Second the food... Delicious from the fries to the collab beer with Artifex. Everything is made in house, I mean they even have a beef tallow Tanner Fatty Patty Ice Cream Sandwich. Sometimes you just crave a delicious, spicy smash burger and you get that with the Tanner Primer Burger, the cheese melted perfectly, just the right spice, and onion, with a soft brioche bun. They even have an all beef hot dog which is actually surprisingly hard to find around here. This one comes with caramelized onions, cowboy beef bacon, and new school American cheese. We also had these amazing tallow fries that came with such a great garlic aioli, not too much garlic just the right amount so delicious and topped with a smash patty. It all ended with that tallow ice cream sandwich, not too sweet but super creamy and made in house. Delicious. Also- they make their own beers! And have a collab with artifex which is right around the corner. Overall, a winner in my book. We are definitely going back when they open on the 19th! read more

I love this place. I go a lot because the burgers are so amazing. We went tonight and sat inside because it was so cold outside... it was so cold inside too. I feel bad for the employees, they were cold too. Maybe the employees should wear jackets on nights when the weather is in the 50 and 40 degrees, just saying food for thought. read more

The best burger I've ever bought. Unbelievable quality and the food came out very quickly. Workers were always coming by to check on us. Tried out the tallow fries, double burger, and Fatty Patty. Place reminded me of a classic American diner! Super cute and fun place to eat. Will be back no question! Bravo!! read more

Nothing amazing. Hot dog was ok, fries were ok. Burger a little salty but otherwise just ok. McDonald"s would have sufficed.

The staff is friendly, atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it a great spot for a quick lunch. Crafted smash burgers seared to perfection, creating a crispy exterior while keeping the inside juicy and flavorful. The tallow fries are the perfect side to complement the burgers! read more

Tanner’s Prime - Double smash and tallow fries - Burgers Near Me - Oceanside, California

Have been meaning to try this spot out but every time I've come by it's been too crowded. Found a slow time on a Thursday afternoon and finally got to try it out. I found it to be just okay, my food came out about 30 seconds after I ordered which was a red flag. Maybe the best way to eat here is wait in line so you're getting something fresh, because my burger was not fresh and was very sloppy, falling apart. Taste was alright, basically tasted like in n out, but had no crispy edge texture you look for in a good smash burger. read more

Tanner’s Prime - Single Tanner Burger, shiny bun (shiny food is good). - Burgers Near Me - Oceanside, California

I was really excited to try this new place and it looks incredible, very nice presentation, however for my weekend cheat meal I was disappointed on the flavor. It tasted like it was missing salt and pepper or lack of a marinated patty. You'd think the beef tallow would give it extra flavor. The fries were very salty and not much seasoning. The special sauce was okay. The aioli tasted like pure mayo. Service was nice. Overall I still really want to like it, but my cravings weren't satisfied and TBH I ended up going to In n Out the same weekend to get my burger fix. read more

Burgers are OK. Place is very pretentious though. Long line and if you sit at the bar they never get to you. We finally had to get up from the bar and go order from the kiosk. Even though there was nobody in line at the time they didn't even look at us. Burgers are great but there's a wait. Don't waste your time at the bar though just get in that long line lol read more

Amazing Food!! Burgers and fries are fantastic, quality is exceptional and very friendly staff. Highly recommend!

I had seen some info on social media and we like the other places in the Freeman Collective, so we thought we would Tanner's Prime Burgers a try. As an officionado of the rare burger meat, it is hard to get this request filled from a smash burger joint, but they were able to accommodate my order to a tee. It was rare, juicy and full of meaty goodness. The bun was soft and held most of the juices that ran off my burger, without getting soggy. The fries had a nice, consistent flavor with just enough bite and a smooth, garlic aioli sauce. Shout out to Server Joe who was very accommodating in getting a second order of hot fries out to us quickly, extra napkins and was so very friendly, even though they were uber busy and he was assisting many. Great experience! read more

What an incredible surprise this place was! We were visiting in the area on a couple's vacation and luckily stumbled upon Tanner's for a delicious lunch. The burgers were incredibly tasty - and HUGE! Beyond the food, ehe environment is super welcoming and comfortable as well. It was great to sit on the patio and enjoy the warm weather. The only challenge is that parking is limited, but there was additional parking on the nearby street so it didn't seem to be much of an issue on a weekday. Definitely recommend it! read more

There was a big hype with this place and we had to try it. They sell simple food items. Burgers and fries I think dessert I can't remember. Got two burgers, two drinks and fries to share. It's kinda expensive. Fries kinda tasted like in n out fries with thousand island sauce and meat on it. Not my fav place for a smash burger but it was okay! read more

Delicious, though I ordered lettuce wrapped burgers for takeout and should have checked my order before leaving as they were regular burgers on buns. I still ate them and they were yummy. Fries and Ice cream sandwich were excellent as well. read more

Finally came to see what the hype is all about. First off, the sweet tea was not sweet at all. It had a strange minty flavor; I've never had sweet tea taste like that. Also, it was like someone forgot to add the sugar - seriously, it was missing a whole gallon of sweetness. If you're expecting classic Southern-style sweet tea, this isn't it. The burger itself was way too greasy and incredibly messy to eat. I get that a good burger can be juicy, but this was over the top - I needed several napkins just to get through it. The flavor wasn't bad, but the grease made it hard to enjoy. Now, onto the highlight - the dirty tallow fries. These were absolutely delicious! Perfectly crispy and flavorful, they could easily be a meal on their own. If I come back I'll just order those fries. Although you order at the counter I noticed the staff were very attentive. There were many employees walking by to clean tables, restock items, etc. seemed like great service. read more
