Nice open place with a long bar. Came by on a Tuesday evening and wasn't packed and ordered a wine. At the recommendation of the bartender I went with the Pork Chop. Now, I usually don't order a pork chop cuz for it's a very fine line from delicious to dry. This one was Delicious!! Probably the best pork chop I've ever had. The pork chop was pre-sliced perfectly and they provide the bone on the plate if you want to really get into the bone. The chop was juicy and the sauce that came with it I was dipping everything in it. I had the cookie skillet with ice cream for dessert and it was good. The atmosphere and ambience is terrific. The service was great although the waiter did a great job serving us, I don't believe he was very well versed on menu. I asked about the steak and frites and if the sauce was creamy and he said yes. So I decided to try it. It turned out to be similar to A1 steak sauce with added pepper it was a glorified A1. The steak rub was not complimentary to beef, the fennel was way too overpowering. My husband got the halibut fish and chips. He said it was mushy I'm not sure if they fried it long enough or maybe the oil in the fryer wasn't hot enough. He said he preferred the fish and chips from Sidewinders a lot better. Just when you thought good ole Blue Collar couldn't get any worse..... They serve a microwavable pouch of brown rice/quinoa with a salmon dish and call it Tabbouleh!! Microwave! Plastic! Pouch! How do I know? Cause I buy it bi-weekly from Costco and know that exact flavor and texture well. It's great for work lunches and on the go dinners, BUT for a $40 salmon dish from a place that believes "exceptional food should be simple and shared, not fussy and formal." it's crazy. They nailed the SIMPLE! LITERAL MICROWAVE POUCH OF RICE. (see photos for confirmation) Honestly it's kind of sad, so much potential with the space Blue Collar holds in that building. You can't blame the staff, as they have the same amount of control over what they offer as a manager of Applebee's would. But get real folks. Don't waste your money here....or Hachi...or Piglets. An impeccable dinner was had at Tanglewood, nestled on the side of a very quaint but active food/shop hall. We were seated promptly and waited on very attentively throughout the meal. We ordered a drink, two appetizers, and two entrees, and each exceeded our expectations. The drink was perfect, and fit in with the vibe of the place. The fondue was to die for, and I'm jealous of anyone who lives in the area and can have it any time they want! Same goes for the cauliflower, which, once you try it, you'll understand why it has won awards. The Pork Chop was gigantic and perfect. Juicy, surrounded by delicious sides, and the talk of the table. I couldn't finish it, but I sure wanted to. The only slight disappointment was the Summer Schnitzel, which just seemed a little plain in comparison to everything else, and didn't have anything that made it stand out. Overall, Tanglewood has perfected what they aim to do, and I'd recommended it to anyone who enjoys a slightly rustic, modern chic dining night out. read more

Was visiting our daughter in Bozeman and she had heard good reviews of Tanglewood so we thought we would try it. Service was great as our server was very accommodating as we created our own entrees by mix and matching fish with different entree accoutrements. Everything was delicious, especially the pizza the crust was super. The space was a little vacuous, but perhaps on a busy night it will seem warmer. However, we enjoyed the outdoor space and the nearby cornhole games we played post dinner. Tanglewood is definitely worth it when you're in Bozeman. read more

The only reason I give it two stars instead of none is because the service was excellent. We ordered the lobster plate. It consisted mostly of French fries (eh?) and a hot dog type roll. The lobster was ok and the rest you could have got at McDonalds. Pricey too. Definitely would not recommend based on this experience. But to be fair, we have not tried any other dishes. Could be one of the worst managed resturants in Bozeman. The menu is great, but the hostess staff is terrible. The place can be empty and they say 45 min wait. The bar can be empty and they say sorry you cannot sit at the bar it's a 45 min wait to sit there too. So the bottoms line is good luck trying to get in to try the nice menu. All the other owned resturants are great, I have given up on the place. Yelling my friends and family each and everyday. Good luck. Pretty cool place with modern rustic vibes. Staff was very nice. The standout dish for me and my husband was the pork belly with sweet potato puree. It was simple, but the flavors are so very well-balanced. The NY steak was also delicious, especially with the port wine butter. You can choose other sauce/topping, but we went with the wine-infused butter because it sounded interesting. You can also add two sides to the steak, so we chose broccolini and fries. The sides were nothing to rave about, but they tastes fine. The duck confit with the white bean stew and sausage was only okay. Not seasoned enough for me, but at least the portions were huge. The only other meh dish was the hazelnut crustless "cheesecake" with berries. While it tasted fine, the texture was more like mousse than cheesecake. It also really didn't taste like hazelnut--more like just plain chocolate mousse. The berries were a nice touch though, and added some needed freshness to the rich mousse. I've been the biggest fan of this place for more than 5yrs. I've been gone for a while and came back to get takeout and wow--- am I disappointed to what was served to me as I look now at my receipt and see prices which have gone up what has to be close to 50%. I ordered two appetizers and a salad. The appetizers are now $20 each. Which used to be the price of a dinner. And the dinners are $40+ now. For these prices - to get a salad filled with some kind of light frisee looking green (not a hearty or filling green for a salad on its own), 5 1/2 grape tomatoes, a sprinkling of Pickled red onion and some pepper ring and 4 cucumber slices. This is a $14 salad. It was so underwhelming. I also feel like the to-go containers were more thoughtful about keeping hot food hot, fried food crispy etc. I got a huge hunks of maybe the whole butternut squash cut into huge slices stuck together and either very undercooked and then the few that were cooked were black. They used to be light thinly shaved - so crispy and light. What a shame the quality looks like no one gives AF what comes out on a to go order. Lastly, the tempura cauliflower- the taste was still there but they used to serve it to go in a larger paper box which kept it much crisper than now shoved in a small plastic bowl so it just steams the whole way home (which was a 2 min drive for me). Overall, I'm so bummed. I loved this place. To eat in and to go - it was always so good. And the food was always at a premium but a premium that made sense for the portion and quality - not any longer. As long as every restaurant in the whole town raised prices by 50% and made all the food worse... how fun for us. read more

I would have loved to give this restaurant 5 stars however we visited twice and both times the service was extremely slow. It took at least 10 minutes to get water and the appetizers came out but it took another 10 minutes to get someone to get us silverware. I'm not sure if they are just really understaffed but that would be my guess. The staff is very friendly and seem to be trying their very best with the staff they have. The food and drinks are very good and worth the slow service. Meatballs are perfect and the pizzas here are very good. read more

She was able to make accommodations for us and we stayed for an extra drink because she was so welcoming and friendly. Overall ambiance is 10/10. Food is 20/20. Could not recommend more! Third time is NOT a charm..... We had a couple of meals last year (we ordered take out) and it were amazing. A few month ago we ordered takeout for our entire family and had it delivered. We received our $150 order and it was ice cold and literally inedible. Cheese on the burgers rock hard and shiny, French fries that were rock hard..... just really bad. We thought it must be a fluke and so called to let the restaurant manager know. She was very kind and even left a $50 gift card for us to try again. So tonight (3 months later) we decided to give it another go. My husband picked up to make sure it wasn't an issue with a delivery driver. We live less than two miles from Tanglewood. AGAIN..... it was absolutely awful. The food was soooo cold, the burgers were burned, even the buns were burned, my daughter ordered a salad and all I can compact it to is.... It looked like someone vomited in a box. Again..... inedible. I'm posting photos of our received food. 6 burgers and a salad.... All inedible and a waste of money. read more

I had never been here before and wanted to try out a new spot for date night. That was a mistake. We had a reservation for 715 and got right in. I will start with the food first. We started with the charcuterie board which was ok. Nothing special but not bad. I ordered their burger and requested medium. After a long wait I got a way undercooked bloody burger with cold and chewy fries. The burger had potential, but the meat wasn't good and was undercooked and barley room temp. The cold chewy fries were terrible. Maybe if they were at least warm it might of been good. I am guessing my meal sat around for awhile. My wife ordered the crispy chicken pizza. I tried a slice and it was undercooked and crazy chewy. I am not sure how you mess up pizza, but they found a way. Both our meals were let downs. Now let's move to the service. Our server wasn't rude, but he wasn't good. After we got our meals he never checked on us once until we were clearly finished. Which would of been fine, but the fact he kept checking the table next to us, it was kind of weird. We were polite the whole time, so not sure why he avoided us. We didn't eat much of our meal, and he didn't bat an eye or ask why. Like he knew our food was bad and didn't want to open up that can of worms. I never send food back for reasons I am sure we all understand. When we left we walked out the front past THREE employees and not one said thanks for coming or even acknowledged us. This place didn't ruin our date night, but I would avoid this place. With so many great restaurants around, why pay for sub par food? Go anywhere but here. This place is a one and done. read more

Good and bad. An excellent selection of wines by the glass. Was so thrilled by this. A couple of our choices in food were good, and a couple were bad. My daughter ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was great. Nice and chewy crust. I ordered the lobster mac & cheese, and it was dry. Mac & cheese should always be super creamy. My son ordered the New York strip with a baked potato. The steak was good if not a little thin. But the baked potato was terrible. We ended up here by mistake, the hostess greated us warmly so we stayed. The menu is very limited, the food passing us by looked lovely but ended up tasting bland. Nothing Wow'd us! The service was lack luster, water glasses sitting empty for most of the service. We noticed as we were only a party of two that we were mostly ignored. After food was brought, the waiter never stopped by to see if we liked it or needed anything. He passed by us looking at our empty water glasses and still no service. I regret giving the server the minimum 15% tip. We won't be back, nor will we recommend this place. Kind of scratching our head how they have such a high rating. Beautiful restaurant! Incredibly friendly and attentive staff. The food was just ok, though. The fried mushroom appetizer was good, but felt really heavy with oil as though it wasn't cooked at a high enough temperature. So it was more oily than crispy. The flavor of the sauce was nice, though. Everything else was... ok. The medium rare filet we ordered came out well done. Twice. Here's my recommendations :) Order that cauliflower appetizer! It's as good as Michael Chiarellos from Bottega in Yountville , Ca. Also the deep fried artichokes are a great share plate! Tasty!! Order Steak. They do it real real good here. We went with the port butter as recommended by our excellent waiter. Cocktails are a must here! They are thoughtfully crafted. Yum yum. Stayed in Bozeman on our way to Yellowstone. We had no desire to cook after our long driving day. Pretty happy we found this place! The decor and ambiance were super nice. Their menu covers are really cool, I wanted to steal it, lol. Apps: Brussel sprouts were a STRONG 10! Cauliflower was about a 7.5, would order again. For dinner we had: Halibut, Schinitzel, mussels & frites, lamb chops, and 2 rib eye plates. What was really strange was, we were in Montana, so the steak should have been the star of the show, right? not so much. The steaks were okay... just ok. My prime grade ribeye from Costco is just as good. They did cook it medium rare perfectly though. The halibut and mussels were the show stopper! I'm still thinking about them! Went to their Brunch yesterday. I have eaten there a few times for dinner only because our hosts suggested it. I ordered the Bourbon Eggs Benedict. It was terrible. The eggs were hard. The entire dish had been clearly previously prepared. It was cold and flavorless. Bourbon??? The place was almost empty. No surprise there. So bottom line we are done with that place. Do yourself a favor and if you want a good brunch go to Storm Castle or Kountry Corner Cafe. Significantly better. read more
