Tamale Kitchen - Red pork tamales with rice and beans!!! - Mexican Near Me - Northglenn, Colorado

I've only came here once, specifically to try the tamales. Not the best, but definitely delicious and so worth the money. You can get a dozen tamales for $8!! I will definitely be coming back to try other stuff they sell, as it sure looked mouth watering on the menu! read more

Don't do the drive thru! Inside the restaurant is dirty and so old. Needs some TLC badly. Food is good. But I waited over 40 minutes trapped in the drive thru only to get home and my order was wrong!! Unfortunately this was NOT the first time this has happened but since it's close to home I keep giving them another chance. I paid extra for chicharones but didn't get them and the wrong chili. I'm done and won't go back. read more

I've been getting poor service at this location for a year or so, but today I was sadly shocked at the treatment I got. I ordered a relleno plate and she quoted a different price than on the menu. When I got to the window, I asked for a breakdown, she wasn't happy. She mumbled something and I told her I wanted a receipt. She gave me one that only showed the total, I said I wanted an itemized receipt, she wasn't happy. It wasn't legible and obviously needed new ink, I pointed that out and she said that's just the way they come out of the computer. When I said it's not truly a receipt if it can't be read and that someone should address the problem. She torted back that if I didn't like it, too bad. I called the Mississippi location to try to see if an owner could call me back and didn't get the feeling that would happen. It will be my last trip to this location. Customers pay employees paycheck, so this young blonde female with a nose ring needs some attitude adjustment. read more

The beans here are perfect. I would definitely recommend getting the steak taco plate. The enchilada sauce is way too spicy for my taste, and they don't offer a less spicy option. The tamales are kind of hot too. The green chili, even the mild, is so freaking hot. If you want true Mexican flavor without a crap ton of spiciness, the taco plates are the way to go. For comparison, I think Taco Bell "Fire" hot sauce is bearable. read more

For years Tamale Kitchen has been my second choice when the Santiago's drivethrough line is too long. But my last 2 trips here I've had 30 minute waits in the car. Get your shit together Tamale Kitchen, you have some strong competition down the road... read more

Really good breakfast burritos. I get a breakfast burrito about every day and have come to realize something, some of the girls who work there in the morning, will make your burrito absolutely sloppy and messy if you do not leave them a tip. read more

Not gonna lie, this is one of my favorite joints to come to. The food is always amazing and they have never once messed up my order. The staff is very friendly as well. This is the best Mexican food ever and it's even better that it's a drive through. The drive through is open late on Friday and Saturday as well which is amazing for those midnight munchies (; read more

This place seems popular and was crowded when we visited. Most people were doing orders to go. The restaurant is not very well kept, tables dirty and there was a significant bathroom odor when we entered. Staff was friendly and service was fast. The food tasted fine but was nothing special. I had the Barbaco Tacos, beans and rice were cold and the meat was way over cooked. The prices are very reasonable. read more

Every time I go, I get overcharged. I went on "Tamale Tuesday" which was supposed to be .50 tamales or a dozen for half price & was charged full price. Last time I went I asked for their rice pudding (to go) and when I looked it was the same stuff you buy in the grocery store for $1. and they charge 2.50 because you think You're getting home made. This place definitely is for kids only. They don't usually pay attention. read more

Worst place ever to go too. Every time I try and order from them and say no beans they always put beans on it. I specifically ask for no beans and they tell me they thought I asked for beans when I have witnesses that say I told them no beans. I called to complain and they cussed me out and told me not to order from them. So unprofessional and will never eat there again. All of my friends and family eat there and said they will not eat there anymore either... read more

Our expectations were massively exceeded by the reality of the amazing churros. Warm and perfectly made. AMAZING. Even at 9:30pm!

Love this place, my husband and I come during the midnight deals all of the time. Nice workers, and provides great service. They provide extra utensils napkins and salsa. We will be coming again. read more

Their food is always good. But you should probably bring a blanket and sleeping bag - you'll be camping out for hours before receiving your food. Like why?? I know they don't make everything fresh so what is up with the wAit???? read more

Everything I've had from tamale kitchen has been good! Sometimes they are slow if they are busy but always worth the wait.

very unprofessional and they dont have ac do yourself a favor and avoid this place. they treat uber and delivery guys rude

Honestly, I come here for the flan. 4oz of caramel deliciousness. I have no idea if it's from scratch, but I can't get enough! I wish the portions were bigger, though... About their tamales, I have tried them... it's ok, a hit or miss. read more

I've been here multiple times and have never been disappointed. The kind service to the delicious food has been spot on. Their weekday specials are great too especially tamale Tuesday's, yum! For convenience the drive thru makes it a no brainer to swing by for dinner on your way home. read more

I ordered the taco salad to go, it took a long time to make but the worst is when I got home I opened the boxes and there was NO TACO BOWL. Just the stuff that went in it. I was very dissatisfied and very upset. The girl at the counter seemed very bored and the other girl seemed more interested in the boy that came in to chit chat with her while ignoring customers. When she had to wait on a customer she gave them attitude and was very rude. read more

If I could give a Zero I would. I was going to this location 3x a week to get bf Burritos. $15 plus tip each time. I always call in my order so I can just run in and pay and leave. This morning I tried for 20 min to call in my order. No answer. I had just hung up the phone as I parked so when I walked in the first thing I did was look to see if they were slammed. There was one person in the lobby waiting for her order and the drive thru had 3 cars. When I got into the lobby I said I think something is wrong with your phone. The employee stated that she didn't feel like answering the phone and taking any orders. I said "this is not how you run a business". She said well I was busy and I don't care. She then became very rude to me and acted like I was now putting her out somehow. I was appalled at how I was now being treated. I asked if there was a manager and she told me NO! I asked her for her name as I planned on calling in later to complain and she refused to give me her name. She then said do you want anything rudely. I said NO and walked out. I will never go back here again. I can not believe that a business would treat anyone like this and especially someone who was a regular customer. I will be going to Santiago's next door or anywhere else other than Tamale Kitchen for now on. Tamale Kitchen just lost $45 bucks a week from me. read more

Been going since 1995. Longer waiting in line and food quality has gone down but prices keep going up. Waits are longer in newer building then they were when they were next door. Food seems more rushed with less flavor. Heat and good chili in sauce has gotten worse. Sauce has more of a tomato taste than green chili. Catering to gavachos...Use to go everyday...Due to taste and price have to turn to Chubbys or even across the street at Morenos. Sad . read more

Ordered catering and it was a good deal. Tamale, rice, beans, chili sauce and tortillas. All were delish! I did order more tamales than was included in the catering since peeps were eating 3 tamales at a time.will be back. read more

This place is really starting to go downhill I'm not too sure what's going on but last week I went to order beans and chile and the beans were full of grease it was literally spilling out of the container and made such a mess and were so greasy we had to throw them Away Tonight I went to get an extra hot smothered bean, potato and chicken burrito deluxe with onion on top and they put a ton of onions inside the burrito....and on top...that has never happened before but being someone who loves onions I don't love onions inside my burrito. This was weird and I thought maybe it might have been done on purpose...it was so oniony that I couldn't even eat it. I went into the restaurant with my kiddo 2 weeks ago and the gals working the front were pretty rude, no smiling just kind of there to take our money but no real customer service...it was actually kind of disturbing. A month ago I ordered a handheld special burrito wth beans and potatoes no eggs and they forgot the potatoes and added eggs!! My whole family has loved tamale kitchen for years but as of late things have really changed and it makes us not want to go back because something bad always seems to happen. I tried calling 6-7 times to get a hold of a manager but no one even answers the phone it just rings, then goes to voicemail...so I had to write a review instead. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the truth needed to be told. read more

Fantastic food. I did delivery/takeout with doordash and so that is all I can conment on. The salsa was a tad spicy for my taste but it was good. I wish they had more options on the doordash app. read more

Came here on Christmas Eve to get our traditional tamales. My go to place was sold out so I decided to give Tamale Kitchen a try. I'm not sure if it was because of the holiday but the tamales had very little filling and flavor. Kind of a disappointment as they were going to be part of our Christmas eve dinner. read more

!!!RIP OFF LIARS!!! I WILL NEVER RETURN!! We ordered 2 burritos and chili cheese fries in the drive through. We added extra cheese to both burritos and sour cream and beans to one. When we got home there were "trace" amounts of beans and I mean they were undetectable with the tongue. And no extra cheese at all. We called they said sure bring the food back and we will take care of it. "I don't live close" so I stop eating my food bring it back the next day and they say "we watched the camera footage in the kitchen and we know the food is made properly" what happened to customer appreciation and good service!?!?! You mess up some food you fix it! I hope you read this whoever owns this store. You just lost thousands of dollars in repeat sales we love your food! But out of principal now because I said so to the little high school mon at the counter, I will never spend money here again EVER!!!! read more

Been wanting to try this for soooo long! Cheap food, tons of options! Amazing horchata. The people who worked here were so nice. The tamales are a great deal. This is the first time in 3 years since I moved to the metro area that I have eaten food that was close to homemade. Will come back! read more

Went in the drive thru.. don't do it unless you have a lot of extra time to kill. Got to the menu to see they're charging $1.50 extra per any item with meat ( due to the covid shortage) I ordered 2 combos and a few regular burritos.. it came to about $48! Got home and the chicken and beef tasted old! Not worth the extra charge at all! Won't be going back read more

Usually stop here on my way home from our bi-weekly poker game up north at a friend's house. So nice that they are open 24 hours on the weekends so one doesn't have to stop at the chain fast food places!!! Same family as the other two locations which delivers the same food. I usually grab a dozen tamales to take home as well as a burrito for the drive home and have never been disappointed. They have red, green, veggie and jalapeno/cheese tamales which are all tasty. The green is a tad hotter than the red while the veggie ones are mild but flavorful and the jalapeno/cheddar are too hot for your average person but I love their flavor! Enchiladas are decent as are other menu items. Definitely an acquired taste and some aren't going to like the flavors or the heat but it works great for me! And it's cheap!!! read more

Love this restaurant in my neighborhood! The soft chicken tacos are great protein after a workout.

So good! Unlike the other reviews we have had no issue in he drive thru. Considering they make everything fresh we had no problem with the wait. The people are friendly & apologize when there is a slight wait. I recommend the bean burritos. read more

I ordered carne asada fries, then waited around 20 minutes plus, while people with more simple orders got theirs first. Then, I got something that was closer to chili cheese fries, which was something on the menu at a Mexican restaurant of all things. Also, it wasn't even that big for the price. They used a styrofoam box used for a tostada or a hot dog. Naturally, I addressed my concern that I got the wrong order, but the DACA teenager staff brushed it off like nothing was wrong, and continued to look at their smartphones with a full busy drive thru. So, overall what do I think about this place?... ...No hablo... read more

Tamale Kitchen in Northglenn is a big rip off. The pricing is deceptive. They have one price on the menu but when you get to the window is is more expensive than advertised. When asked about it all the worker said was that the menu is wrong and prices have gone up. The food was dry and not even good at all. I would not recommend! read more

So normally my go to restaurant for some quick food around this area is Santiago's but unfortunately it was closed the night I went to Tamale Kitchen. While, I have nothing negative to say about the quality of the service or the timeliness of my order I just wasn't impressed with their food. I grew up my entire life eating Mexican food so naturally when I go to a Mexican restaurant I know what to expect in terms of flavor. In this case, Tamale Kitchen fell short of my expectations. The flavor was very bland and nothing really stood out to me. read more

I live 2 minutes away, so this place was always a favorite. Especially the $2 AM burritos. I'm vegetarian and always order them without meat, and I love that the green chili is veg friendly. The last 3 times I went there was a piece or two of bacon, almost felt like it was a "trick" that meat eaters like to do to us on occasion and it's been a lil annoying. Great for meat lovers, but unsure if this veg head wIll be back. read more

Food is 4 stars. Service is consistently crap. Doesn't matter how busy or slow they are, they always seem like they have better things to do. I used to be a chef and a server, so I am not a picky customer. 15 minutes for bean burrito and tostada in the drive through thou? I recommend this place to a lot of people, wish they would step it up on the service side. read more

Good food, friendly staff incredible green chili.... what more could you ask for? This isn't a nice, sit down Mexican food place that you'd bring your aunt who is in town from Oregon to. This is where you come get quality Mexican food, fairly quick for a good price. This is where you pick up a family pack of tamales and burritos and green chili on your way to your boys house to watch the game... your friends, well they will greet you like a hero. read more

Overall I would rate this place as poor. I have tried it twice. Tonight I ordered a chicken taco and the chicken tasted like it came from a can. I also had enchiladas. The woman asked if I wanted green sauce or red sauce and I chose red. When i bit into a bite of the cheese enchilada it lit my mouth on fire...I wish she had warned me when I ordered. Holy cow! I dont think most children would like enchiladas that hot much less most adults. read more

I know authentic Mexican food (from traveling in Mexico and living in San Diego for five years). I know Colorado-style Mexican food ("Spanish rice" WTF?). I prefer the real deal and Tamale Kitchen is that. I finally stopped at their 104th restaurant and was immediately blown away by their extensive menu. Not a chimichanga in sight, thank gawd. I just had a pork taco plate the first trip. I liked how they separated out the condiments from the tacos themselves. Unlike other reviewers I liked their beans and rice. I judge take-out food on a different scale than sit-down. How it's packaged, how easy is it to wolf down while driving or parked in the lot next door. This meal was just fine on all accounts. Second time I had the tamales. Very tasty. I'll go back a bunch of times till I distill their vast menu down to what I like best. Might take 20 or more trips. But---the message here---I'll be back. read more
