We used the mobile app they recommended and when we ordered, it said the food would be ready in 30 minutes. It took 40, but it's Saturday night so we understood. However, when we got home we realized our food was cold. The rellanos were soggy despite not being smothered, and the cheese in the enchiladas wasn't melted. Our food was most likely sitting there the whole time he was waiting. There were no rice or beans included and each combo plate was $18!! I know times are hard, but that's insane. No other Mexican place we eat at costs this much and they all come with rice and beans. This is the second time we've tried this Wapos and both times have been awful so are scratching them off the list. read more

We've been to Wapos Cantina 5 or 6 times since moving to Thornton Dec 2024. Service was excellent, friendly and bar area seating is fun. Salsa served with chips was fresh and spicy just how we like it. Guacamole appetizer was creamy and delicious. Order two large Reposado margaritas which were a bit strong and tasty. For dinner we shared combo fajitas served sizzling. Wapos is one of our go-to favorite Mexican restaurants. read more

We had a large party and needed a last minute place to each so we chose here. The service was amazing and all of the staff were helpful. We had a toddler with us and they sat us next to a little play house they had in the restaurant which was so accommodating! The restaurant was spacious,had a full bar and it was not super loud so you could have a full conversation. CAUTION: all of the food was SPICY ! We ordered the ceviche and that had a good kick. I ordered the chili verde chicken enchiladas( I did not get a photo) and the green sauce was so hot I could not even eat it and I can do spicy. I opened the enchiladas and ate the just chicken which was not spicy and delicious. Their beans were some of the best beans I have eaten. My daughter ordered the chicken and steak fajitas and she said the beef was grisly but chicken was great. Nachos were good no spice. Just before you order, if you do not like a lot of spice be sure to ask the server what the spice level is. read more

I can't say enough great things about Wapos! If I could give it 10 I would. First the service is amazing, all servers jump in and help out. There is not one person that won't stop by and make sure everything is "bueno" Did I mention the salsa? Always consistent and served in a large bowl ready for a full chip to fit in. It is in my humble opinion the best I've had in years and I eat Mexican out weekly. I'm in the Brighton area that is known for Mexican and they don't hold a candle to Wapos! Food quality is excellent and presentation beautiful! I have been three times and super impressed by food presentation, service, and taste! I also not have one desire and that is my meal as amazing as it was wasn't accompanied by beans n rice. Not a big deal as I didn't finish everything but miss that bit of the meal. read more

I ordered a Chimichanga and the beef was so spicey I could barely eat it. But the worst part was in the beef was two whole bay leaves. Those are supposed to be removed before serving. They do not digest. Won't be back. read more

Came here 2 weeks ago and had a decent meal, I personally didn't like the queso but my husband did, the first time the vegetarian tamales were good, tonight, they were awful. One bite in and my husband was literally and I mean literally spitting them out because it felt like he was chewing on rocks of some sort. He tried again, but kept getting the same texture. I was lucky enough to only have a small piece like this happen to me, but him spitting them out ruined my appetite. They were nice enough to take these off of our bill, however the 4 corona lights were $31! I have NEVER in a million years paid $31 for 4 beers at a restaurant, 7.99 a piece for Mexican beer at a Mexican restaurant. The only thing that was decent was the salsa but just like other reviewers said, they leave the chips out with all the flies all over the place. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more

Went here for lunch today with my wife and son and honestly was a poor experience. First issue was there were roughly 30 flies in the establishment bothering all of the patrons sitting in the front area which made it nearly impossible to eat or sit comfortably for more than 15 seconds at a time. The table next to us was bothered as was the other two tables behind us. I get there's not much anyone can do at that moment but I don't get how that many flies are in the restaurant. Second issue I took my toddler son to the mens bathroom and literally the floors were sticky every step you took, pretty gross. As for the food my son's chicken nugget meal was literally Dino nuggets from a grocery store and over deep fried if that, my flutas were pretty bland not to mention they charged extra for chicken but didn't mention it when ordering (sad on menu chicken or beef so one would assume it was one or the other). Two fountain sodas cost $9 which seems excessive. The only bright spot my wife enjoyed her quesadilla as they were pretty well stuffed, but the fact she was as making faces the entire time trying to eat amongst the flies didn't make it any better. Not sure if this was bad circumstances or the normal but probably won't go to this one again. The workers were friendly but couldn't enjoy a meal today. read more

I literally just left there, I live 5 miles from the Thornton restaurant. This food is pure SHIT! It is cold, no enchilada sauce on 3 enchiladas and about a tablespoon of retried beans and 2 tablespoons of rice. The order is wrong!!! I also ordered queso and guacamole...the queso is so salty my wife thru it out. The guacamole is so buried under days old tomatoes that we thru it out because it looked spoiled!!! I ordered 2 cheese & onion enchiladas and the cheese is not melted in the corn tortilla...this place should be shut down!! I went over my order 3 times with the guy and he still messed it up. We almost walked out because it just looked like a bar, but around the corner were more tables. The menu look normal and decent prices so we stayed. Glad we did. The food was very good and we will go back. The chili con queso was a little bland and the salsa not my favorite, but not so spicy you couldn't eat it. The rice was perfect. Exactly as Spanish rice should taste like. We sat in the front bar area and the tables were short and the seating was like a couch and living room chairs. Last minute decision to grab a bite for dinner and was not disappointed. We were greeted and seated without delay. Chips and salsa arrived quickly with our drink order made at the same time. Chips and salsa were very good in my opinion, even had a second round with dinner. We ordered the combo plates which didn't disappoint either. My go to is the soft Chile Relleno & this one was decent. Most Rellenos are battered up and deep fried. This one wasn't, but came out whole and stuffed with cheese and was baked and topped with a little green chile. The green chile was good, not the best I've had but definitely good. Overall a pretty fair dinner outing. Service was prompt, food pretty good, ambience so so. Interior decor needs some love but I'd definitely go back again. read more

This was our first experience at this restaurant after the change from the old one and we were very pleased. The food was amazing and the presentation was wonderful. We were greeted by a friendly smile and the service was at the right pace that we didn't feel rushed. The ambience looked similar to the other restaurant but it had some fun lower tables. Check your bill! The food is okay but the place is seems scammy and not the cleanest. We were in last on a slow night, sat at the bar and there were only a few others in the restaurant total. Not being that hungry, my husband and I split a meal - the bartender seeming annoyed this was all we wanted asked if we wanted beans, rice and the fixings which we said no. We also asked if they had spicy green chile, planning on getting normal otherwise but the bartender said yes. The "spicy green chile" was their normal with a bunch of crushed red dumped into it - not good. They included the items we didn't ask for with the plates (rice beans guac) & were told that was a kitchen mistake not to worry. Then when we got our check we were charged for all the extras and another item we didn't order so had to have that fixed. I'd think a mistake but when we arrived an elderly couple paying their bill had a bunch of incorrect charges on their check as well, I can't help but wonder how many people just don't notice this. read more
