We had an excellent dinner in one of the greenhouses. They are small, but actually very warm! For dinner, we ordered two excellent cocktails to start. Wow - this is a neighborhood gem. From the decor to the place settings (ceramics from Jono Pandolfi) and of course our dinner we loved this place before we saw the menu. Talulla lived up to its expectations. The cocktail and wine selection was creative and the seasonal menu, although small, had great range. The portions were generous, well-seasoned, and elegant versions of comfort food on a chilly fall night. The service (by the restaurateur) was well-paced, friendly and open. We were only visiting from out of town but if possible we hope to make this a regular place. read more

We had a great time at Talulla tonight! Weren't really sure what to expect, but we were very pleasantly surprised, and will be back again. The cantaloupe amuse was a nice touch to start, and then we had the apricot and corn soup, and the fish crudo, both of which were excellent (though the fish gets the edge). For mains, we had the bass (flaky and perfectly cooked) and the duck -- the duck in particular was great, but the mushrooms and cabbage surrounding it were even better. We had a delicious and not-too-sweet huckleberry cobbler for dessert. Add to that a couple of good glasses of wine, a very tasty vin santo with dessert, and friendly, attentive service, and you'll understand why we enjoyed our evening so much. read more

So happy I came here!! The dine out Boston deal was a fantastic way to experience Talulla. The pork dish was some of the best pork I've had - my only wish is that there was more rice. The desserts are what bumps this up from 4.5 to 5 stars - the budino is some of the richest chocolate I've ever had and the lavender panda cotta was incredible. Highly recommend!! read more

AMAZING! Don't think twice about making a reservation. I went for my anniversary dinner last night to one of the greenhouses. TOTAL gem in these times. Was warm enough to take off coats though it was 25 degrees out. And no minimums, etc. like a lot of restaurants. Food was delicious. Esp the pasta, bread and butter were complete treats. I also got the veggie cassoulet but in retrospect, it was a more boring option relative to the rest of the menu. Next time, I'm going ham on pastas! The panna cotta was also fantastic (the graham cracker was....heavenly....). Great, quick service! I called in advance to confirm they could also make a vegan option and they were super accommodating, kind, and helpful. I'll be back VERY soon! read more

Creative cocktails ( I had a bourbon-ginger-pomegranate amalgamation that was perfect!)and starters round out their menu. We had a phenomenal time at Talulla celebrating my birthday and the birth of my nephew! We were lucky to be served by one of the owners, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. We enjoyed the foie gras (delicious!) and the turnip soup appetizer. For our main courses we shared the duck, waygu steak and the parpadelle. The steak and duck were wonderful! The parpadelle was beautifully done, but the flavors weren't for me so our server was so nice to remove it from our bill. We enjoyed their INCREDIBLE tropical sorbets for dessert and were blown away with how delicious the lychee sorbet was. read more

It's a cute place no doubt and gets you in a mood that it's very European but it just doesn't hit the notes it should. Most every component is dressed up as pretty but ends up mediocre. Wine menu is a great example - looks great and printed on beautiful paper but the wines themselves are not great. The wines by the glass are clearly stored incorrectly and are close to spent by the time they are served. The food was also mediocre; pasta was thick and chewy but looked pretty. Service was very mediocre and similar to a Mexican restaurant. The price as you'll see for yourself is fairly expensive but not egregious - any pedestrian European meal however packs a lot more value. This place misses on so many notes but it's not surprising that in a US city it will find fans read more

We visited Talulla twice in the last two weeks and had two incredible experiences. We took the tasting menu one evening and came back for the a la carte menu. Best food we have eaten in a long time. Everything tastes flavorful and fresh; lot of small details that make the dishes look beautiful and the food taste special. Staff is fantastic too - very attentive and they take the time for advise or a little conversation. Limited but interesting wine list. Highly recommended! read more

Did the five course Prix-fixe. Overall beautiful atmosphere and great attentive staff. However it fell short on the food execution. It may be that the style of food (very very rich) is not for me. Good points: - delicious house made bread butter - great pasta dish as third course - wagyu was incredible - I liked the halibut though my boyfriend found it bland - excellent lavender panna cotta but actually wasn't a part of the menu it was specially requested from the three course menu - very delicious cocktails. I got the hug o war Weak points: - hamachi was alarmingly fishy and not well flavored; I was actually worried about food poisoning it tasted that bad - duck pate and the other dish soup were ok but didn't deliver on flavor complexity which I expected for the price - chocolate cake might have been good for others but the cake felt very dense and just not for me as rich chocolate isn't my favorite. (This was the only option in the five course and the three course had three dessert options which is also odd) read more

Came here with Mom, sis & my 11 year old niece for Friday night dinner. Everything was outstanding. The food, wine, service, table setting, decor and even the tasteful soft music which allowed us to have a conversation without screaming like at every other restaurant these days. To start I had the Johnny Cake appetizer with roasted carrots, beets, feta and toasted sunflower seeds on a thin corn cake - delicious. For main I did the Wagyu beef which was succulent and melty. My boyfriend and I absolutely LOVE this restaurant!! Particularly given COVID, we feel extremely safe eating in the gorgeous private greenhouses the restaurant offers, which are super romantic. We have been to many of the small Cambridge new American/farm to table restaurants (e.g. table at season to taste, urban hearth...etc) and we have been completely disappointed by most of them, which made us anxious about Talulla. Would it be the same as the others? No!! It was fabulous. Notably, the service was wonderful, the decor was beautiful, and all of the details were clearly thought out. The experience was very lovely. The one issue we noticed is the lack of robust flavors throughout the meal. Everything was cooked to perfection and we really liked the menu and our food. Items were seasoned beautifully, but they were a bit boring and often lacked a sharpness or interest factor. Perhaps the chef might wish to play more with acid, as that was a bit lacking from almost all dishes! read more

The service and setting were great, but for the amount that we spent I frankly cannot think of a worst value to quality restaurant that I have ever experienced. We were great fans and frequent diners at T.W. Food and the short-lived Self Portraits. We were very sad to see their demise. Last night we decided to try the brand new restaurant in that intimate space, Talulla's. We loved it. First of all, my only problem with T.W. and Self Portraits were the less than comfortable plastic chairs. Talulla's has resolved this matter with padded fabric-covered seats in which we still felt quite comfortable at the end of our time in residence. The zeitgeist of Talulla's is very much like its predecessors...wonderful, inventive food in a cozy neighborhood setting. Two of three in our party had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. One in our party requested a vegetarian tasting menu and the kitchen offered a parade of dishes every bit as flavorful and satisfying as the omnivore edition. I could go on and on about the several marvelous dishes, but this review would take longer to read than our two-and-a-half hour meal and, really, who knows what will be on offer at your meal? Suffice it to say that every dish was made with obvious care and imagination, using the best ingredients. The wines perfectly matched every dish and I actually went out this morning to buy a couple of them for home consumption. My only quibble is that the noise level is a bit louder than at T.W. and I suggest that they hang some fabrics or paintings on the walls to soften the ambient sounds. Nonetheless, seated at the center of a full house we were still able to converse in normal voices. We will dine here often. You should, too. read more

I'd like to give Talulla 3.5 stars, with the hope that my next visit will bring it to 4. I want to like this cute place, but our experience didn't start well. We arrived for our 8:15 PM reservation and were told they were behind; we weren't seated until 8:40 PM. The food at Talulla's was very good, but not amazing. I never was wowed by anything, though everything I had was well prepared. I started with the crudo. The flavor was excellent, the fish could have been more tender - I wanted each piece to melt in my mouth, and it wasn't quite there. I tasted the salad with parmesan which was nice and the foie gras which was very good. The brioche that came with the foie gras was delicious. My main course, the bluefish, was very good. Lovely favors, crisp skin - yum! I also tasted the pork, which was also perfectly cooked and the duck pasta, which was fine. The desserts were both good - banana creme and cookies, and a 'corn' chocolate creme with a chocolate crisp. The brut sparkling was excellent. It looks like their menu does change frequently, which is nice. When we got there, we were confused there wasn't an a la carte option. We realized after we left that we were there for restaurant week. The 3 course menu was $38 which was a great deal. So I guess we lucked out on that part of the evening! read more

We went to Tallula for a birthday celebration but we got our reservation mixed up, so we unfortunately weren't able to dine there. However, the Tallula team couldn't have been more gracious even though the mistake was 100% ours. They were fully booked for the evening, but they nonetheless offered us drinks and helped us find another restaurant in town to accommodate our party of 6. The extent of their concern and kindness was truly remarkable and unlike anything we'd ever experienced. They saved our evening! We could not be more grateful, and we are hoping to make a reservation again soon (a correct one this time)! read more

Talulla is an experienced not to be missed. Talulla cooked for my wedding this past summer. It was a stressful process (plan number 3 for a wedding during covid), and the owners took care of everything. They made the whole experience easy and stress free. We did a four-course meal for our 10 wedding guests and every part of it was amazing. Our friends and family still talk about the food. My husband and I went back for a New Years dinner at Talulla and it was just as amazing, creative, and thoughtful. I do think it's the best food in Cambridge and the atmosphere is perfect. The greenhouses outside (for Covid) are cozy, clean, and very private - a really cool experience if you're gun-shy about going inside a restaurant. At night in January... we were perfectly warm (took off our coats). Do not pass up a trip to Talulla. read more

Culinary treat off to great start. Tastefully decorated. Felt right at home. Not pretentious yet v upscale. Dishes prepared well/ gorgeous presentation. My partner had pork entree, I had tuna with orecchiette. We shared, both outstanding. Starters- he had fish pate, mine, scallops, radish, avocado. Wow! Again, shared. Dessert- didnt get cheese plate since no aged cheese( my preference) We began as usually do with single malt Scotch. Fine but forget brand. My partner had wine too. V pleasant service. Wld return in a heartbeat. PS Surprises served. Yum!! And, that sourdough bread, incredible, generously accompanied meal. Don't know if they bake or buy. Go try some. read more

Amazing wine pairing meal! Chef Connor is an artisan chef who is able to combine flavors and textures in such a manner that they complement yet don't overwhelm each other. Sort of like being an in the presence of a master alchemist. Only other place I have see this done so exceptionally is from Chuck at Erbaluce in Boston. Had the Spanish tasting menu and wine pairing last night (apparently they pick a different region/style to feature every Tuesday for an ever rotating tasting menu) and it was both delightful and so reasonably priced! Four delicious courses with really unique and expertly paired wines from all around Spain. The sommelier and co-owner came over to explain each course and what inspired the pairing (including that they stayed at one of the vineyards on a vacation a few years ago). All enjoyed in an intimate/charming dining room. Couldn't recommend more! read more

Went here for sunday brunch. Amazing food, great service. It's a cozy upscale place with classy yet comfortable decor. They serve Barrington coffee which we absolutely loved. We ordered smoked fish to start off with which came with pickled  onions, cauliflower , and cheese. I am not a big fish fan in general but my husband loved it. we also Shakshuka and Omelette. Both were cooked to perfection. We also got the buttermilk biscuit and honey which I highly recommend. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend going here if you are looking for an upscale meal. Side note: they have really comfortable chairs! read more

This was one of the most memorable meals my wife and I have ever had. From beginning to end, the food was superb, and the wine pairings were great. Daniella chose out some unusual wines (an Austrian Sauterne-style wine with the cheese course, a French steel-aged Chardonnay with the appetizers). The service was friendly, discrete, super knowledgeable, and well-paced. It was clear that they wanted us to have an enjoyable evening. Absolutely no problem accommodating our modest dietary preferences. Ahh, and the food was superb - from a gazpacho appetizer that featured steamed muscles to a chocolate dessert featuring foam made from corn ( I think ) each course was creative, memorable, and delicious.
