I stopped into The Hollows at Teele Square and had a very good experience. This is a neighborhood spot with a creative, eclectic menu that stands out from the usual options in the area. I had the American chop suey with bone marrow, which was a unique take and well executed. Not something you see often, and it worked. I also had the chocolate mousse for dessert, which was very good. I had a couple of IPAs with the meal, and the beer selection held up. Service was good throughout. Friendly, attentive, and well paced. The space has a good vibe with great music playing, which added to the experience. The bar which I sat at itself is large, but it does feel a little cramped. It could probably use a few fewer stools to open things up a bit. Overall, this is a solid and interesting spot in Teele Square. Good food, good drinks, and a place I would come back to. read more

I had been really excited to try to Hollows - at the same time, I was hiring a babysitter for a date night and didn't want to squander a rare night out. I'm happy to say the Hollows is fantastic and we can't wait to return. I was initially intrigued by the menu - for example, Caesar Cucumbers, Frisee Salad, Tripe, Octopus, Deviled Eggs, Chips and Queso, the Tagliatelle with Artichoke and Jalapeno - it was refreshing to see some unique dishes. The host and waitstaff are very hip - and also incredibly friendly! It was nice to feel like I was in a "cool" restaurant, but everyone was really kind. I love the space - an absolutely gorgeous and cozy indoor fireplace; we saw several solo diners seated at the fireplace with books and I'm tempted to return for a solo evening and sit by the fireplace myself. The bar area is great and very conducive to socializing. We sat in the main dining room, but I did notice they have a room off to the side; I'll file that away if I'm looking for a special occasion with a somewhat larger party. We ordered the Duxbury oysters (incredibly fresh and briny), deviled eggs (perfect paprika smokiness), chop suey, and phenomenal mussels steamed in green curry and mango (delicious and a nice kick of heat). I personally loved their $9 crisp prosecco on tap! We can't wait to return and try other items on the menu. I love that they source items locally - phenomenal gelato from Dragon Pizza and tea from MEM Tea in Davis Square. The owners stopped by various tables to check-in with customers and I believe I saw the chef out and about as well. It was honestly so refreshing to go out to a local restaurant with excellent vibes but also feel like the owners and staff are just genuinely really nice and aiming for customers to have a nice evening. I also think this is a great spot if you're looking for some solo dining, starting up conversations at the bar, or just date night or a family dinner. Yum! Upscale comfort food (at reasonable prices) has landed in Teele Sq. in the former Rudy's space. Fans of the former Mexican haunt will appreciate the Rudy's marg and chips and cheese sauce appetizer. I went for a friends & family soft opening event so the menu was limited (lobster biscuit, I'm looking at you for next time) but drinks were solid and so were the items we tried: octopus and delicata squash, a pork tagliatelle (sadly not on the main menu), and a roasted cauliflower main. We're trying to be carb-conscious, so we didn't try the fries. But they were the thin, crispy kind I'd eat way too many of. Staff was very friendly amidst pre-opening jitters. I had one cocktail and one Guinness pour. Loved the decor and thought the bathroom might also have some wild funky stuff, but it just had some tasteful art. Definitely the kind of place that feels fancy and I'd be most comfortable at the bar. Worth noting they have an egg/sweet potato hash kind of thing on the dinner menu, so if a breakfast craving hits, you won't go wrong here, either. read more

Loved dinner at The Hollows! Food was tasty, came out HOT and felt homemade. Calamari, cheesy fries with mushrooms gravy, and tagliatelle + haddock for main: bomb. Don't skip the pecan pie for dessert. Wish we got to try the chop suey but they were fresh out at the time. Cocktail was on point, and service was very quick. Will be back soon. read more

A wonderful and much needed addition to Teele Square. I have been waiting for a great local restaurant and bar and it came in the spirit of The Hollows! I went here with a few of my friends for New Years Eve. It was the perfect way to bring in the new year. The staff are always so friendly and a joy to be around. I love the ambience of the place - with a mix of photos from the past and present. The food was delicious. I ordered the Branzino - which is the current special - and it was delicious- lots of flavor and taste - just wanted to order more. They have a great drink selection- I ended up ordering a margarita - which was a perfect way to welcome 2026. The staff was gracious enough to hand out prosecco for free to every customer to celebrate New Year's Eve. I can't recommend this place enough. Make your New Year's resolution to eat and drink at this wonderful local establishment. read more

Ever since I saw the owl mural painted over the old Rudy's cacti I was curious about this place! We went on their second night and it didn't disappoint. It definitely has a Gothic/witchy vibe to it with lots of owls and hard-core flyers from the 90's. Bunratty's, The Rat, etc. The food was very good and not too pricey! I recommend the fried chicken, calamari and fresh bread. I also tried their salmon with sweet potatoes and broccolini. Their signature cocktails are good too. I especially liked their mojito. Hard to step into the old location of a beloved low-key neighborhood joint after decades of them being an anchor in the community, and not get everyone all maudlin and feeling betrayed at the new ownership and all its changes. Here's how you do it: 1. Bring in an entirely new concept. I don't just mean "new" vs. the old concept; I mean like I've never quite seen a restaurant like this before. Like pictures of bats and owls on the walls, black ceiling, and heavy music playing at a low enough volume that senior citizens and 6-year-olds are chilling through Sunday dinner like this is home. Never seen *that* before. 2. Stay low-key but decorate weirdly 3. Be awesome 4. make excellent food where the marrow-eaters and the vegans both feel equally tended to. 5. Keep the prices reasonable. I took my wife here for her birthday. Two entrees, two apps, a dessert and a cocktail set us back $88. I could describe the menu, but why don't you just look at it? The waitstaff aren't in uniform, but they're attentive and totally excited to talk about food. read more

Finally got to experience this awesome spot. Warm, edgy and inviting. Has an elevated Dragon Pizza Vibe! No pizza served. Menu is inventive - delicata squash salad can make you swoon, hello Dutch Baby, fries with beef gravy! Drinks a many both with and without spirits.
