Went in to ask about their process for getting cards graded, was given some info after showing a card I was considering. Was told the rough price to grade, said I'd return. Came back the next day, ready to submit and spoke to a different person and was given a completely different price, about 4x higher... but closer to what I had actually expected. I bought a card from this guy on Ebay (was a solid transaction) and found out he was close so I decided to check out the place. Super clean store with lots of parking. They have cards for sale under glass and surprisingly from what I could tell, it was priced like it should be, not the usual LCS overcharge (check out the guy in Pleasant Hill, he is the absolute worst). That's a good sign. You don't find a lot of honest card shop owners, especially in today's market with everything so expensive. I also love that they have a "trading" night there, I hope lots of people go to that. Overall there wasn't really a lot to look at, I pretty much covered everything in about five minutes. I saw some packs for sale on the shelf behind the counter and noticed some Clearly Authentics. I just wanted to see what the price was - they have a really nice price set up on the TV screen on the wall that scrolls through all the prices - the problem is it moves so fast you can't see everytyhing. I watched a couple cycles go by and still never saw the Clearly Authentics price on there and didn't want to wait for another cycle to go through so I left. A nice store though. I have met some of the coolest people here at Talkin Baseball. I've been looking for a local hobby shop to call home and this by far is the best in the area. From the owner Ken and all of his employees (Tom, Chris, Noah) they run a great store and great community. The shop has been around for decades, so there's a great blend of sports history all over their walls. Ken is knowledgeable about cards and memorabilia and can answer even the toughest of questions. Their prices are not beatable by any other card shop in the area. (Trust me, I've been to all) Plus, they have a wide variety of stuff available. From baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer, and even Pokémon cards, as well as other collector's items. You can always find something to bring home to add to your collection. From right off the freeway to plenty of parking spots, there is no excuse to not check it out! This place is awesome! Every time I come in i find it hard to leave. Not only is this filled with great products and memorabilia but the owner is just a cool dude to hang out with. Ken has so many great stories and insights to the sports I love. You can just tell when someone loves what they do, this is so true with him. This place has kind of an old school feel to it, I don't think there are many places still out there like it. I've gone in for many things. I bought a few pieces from him but I've also been able to order a case for a signed boxing glove, basketball and a football. Warrior trash bins for my office at work, sports toys for my son ( forty niner action figures!! ) he's got it all. He has a ton of cards and signed bats. The list goes on. Another great thing about this place is I've never felt like this guy was trying to hustle anyone. Very honest company. I hadn't been involved in sports memorabilia since I was a kid over thirty-five years ago, and went in to have Ken, the owner, look over the baseball cards I had collected back then from the 40's, 50's, and 60's to assess their value and condition. Ken took his time to look up the more obscure cards, and gave me an honest and accurate assessment of the condition and value of a wide variety of cards. During the two and a half hours I spent with Ken and the gentleman who also works there, I had the pleasure of meeting and talking baseball and life with a number of Ken's customers, who all obviously hold him in the very highest regard. It was evident that Ken has established a bond of trust with his clients and friends, and has created an atmosphere at Talkin Baseball that I found quite remarkable. Outstanding variety of cards and collectibles, knowledgable, friendly and accommodating ownership and staff, and fair and equitable prices for cards, autographed items, and a wide variety of collectibles and memorabilia. I'll be bringing my children in the next time I visit Ken because, I have to say, visiting Talkin Baseball was an experience much richer than just buying and selling. read more

i don't buy sports collectibles anymore due to the prices and many number of companies selling trading cards these days but this is the place if i did. a great place full of individual cards from all sports as well as a variety of packs from the decades gone by. every now and then when i'm in the mood to relive that kid in me i'll go in for a pack. last time i bought a pack of 1986 topps footballs cards for $20 or so and i walked away with a jerry rice rookie card. great place for kids and that kid who never grew up as well. they also offer birthday parties and events for kids. this place is the mecca of sports collectibles if your into it and can still afford it these days!! read more

I came in here today to see their deals on single Pokemon cards. As it turns out, they had a huge selection, and each card was two dollars. I ended up getting five cards for ten dollars which was a great deal in my eyes because the cards were out of print. The packs are sold for four bucks, which is cheaper that what they go for in department stores. I will be coming back here soon, highly recommended! read more

Who knew a place like this existed? I didn't but now I do! This is THE place to go for the uber sports fan...you have a bro-in-law that's a huge Ram's fan(poor dude!) and wants all things Ram's...jersey, cards, street sign, trash can? This is your place to shop! There are so many signed framed pictures of all kinds of players, signed balls (baseball and football), signed framed jersey's, cards of all kinds...I see something new everytime I'm there. The owner, Ken is very knowledgeable and you can tell he loves what he does! I was there while he was doing a birthday party and the 15-20 8 year old boys were having a blast and actually learning some sports trivia while there! Most impressive. It's nice that there is a place your kid can ride their bike to to get the newest, hottest set of cards...be it Pokemon, Hannah Montana, baseball or football to name just a few. I frequently take my 12 and 14 year old boys to Talkin' Baseball, and we have been going there for several years now. It is a no frills, back to your childhood hobby/collectable place. They have a fun selection of baseball cards and cards for other sports and hobbies, and we love spending 20 - 30 minutes there on weekends just looking around at the new arrivals. In addition to cards, they have balls, jerseys, signed bats, framed pictures, and lots of unusual items. The folks who work there are knowledgeable, friendly, and ready to answer questions or help provide information. I spent 100% of my allowance here when I was a kid. My 8 year old boy loves basseball and got to meet Nate Shierholtz at Talkin Baseball this past Fathers Day. Just being at the store brought back a lot of memories for myself. We have since returned to buy some cards / memorablia and the Young man working the store that day could not have made it feel any more special. I spent about $60 cards and some photos, but my son's favorite item from that day was a free Fred Lewis baseball card given to him for answering a few trivia questions. This place is horrible. It's says it's open Monday-Friday 10 AM to 7PM but I went there on a Wednesday at 2 PM and it was closed for no reason. I drove all the way out there and called them 5 times. They never picked up their phone and in their voicemail they didn't even say that they were closed and on all their websites it said open now but it was closed. I went to talking baseball to look for some baseball cards for my nephews. They are new to the hobby so I thought I would get them something that was simple yet interesting. I met the owner ken, who was a refreshing surprise. The term service with a smile rings true at talking baseball. My 15 minute trip turned into more than 1 hour, again a refreshing surprise. I walked out of the store with 4 boxes of baseball cards, binders, sheets, and storage boxes. It was a very successful trip, and my nephews were blown away. It reminded me of my youth and how exciting it was to open pack after pack. There smiles will be beautiful memories of mine forever. I would recommend anyone wanting great service, a friendly environment, and amazing selections to visit ken, but please do yourself a favor and give yourself some extra time to wander the store.
