Yeah why do the best card shops have to be in the middle of nowhere? Black Diamond Games is a game/hobby shop located in the back side of the Park and Shop strip mall in Concord (home to Ranch 99, Kevin's Noodle House, formerly Fry's electronics, etc.). It's very well stocked with tons of board games, TCG accessories, and more. I've been looking for Katana sleeves for a while in San Jose, where basically every store is sold out of them. I was pleasantly surprised to find a wide selection available here. They also had some more niche Anime sleeves, such as Grand Archive art sleeves. They have a impressive game room in the back with free play available if they're not running an event at the time. There's a bunch of board games on the shelves which you can borrow to play. There's even a well-kept bathroom in the game room. Overall, it seems like a really chill place to hang out and play board games or TCG. The staff is friendly here as well. If I can nitpick about a few things, one is that they don't have TCG singles in their display cases, and two is that some of their items don't have prices labeled on them, so you need to ask. Looking back, I wish we had a store like this in San Jose. The closest we've got is maybe CardArt or pre-Covid Legends Eastridge. Enough talk.

Reasonable prices, but limited stock. There were a couple board games I wanted, but they didn't seem to have them. However, they still had a pretty big variety available - so many different versions of Catan... Their clearance section was also impressive. So many different board games, card games, puzzles, and even blinda couple boxes! Not a bad spot to stop by for some games.

On occasion, they will have their giant inflated Pikachu right out in front of the little shopping center area, so you can't miss it when that happens. What do they sell here? Kind of a little bit of everything really. There's toys, plushies, video games, models, figures, and of course Pokemon cards along with other stuff. Lots of fun stuff for all, and for all ages too as they have quite a bit of retro stuff floating around here. The place does remind me quite a bit of the kind of set-up I would see in Japan and stuff, where display cases are all over, with stuff just sprawled out inside of them for people to look and peruse over. There really aren't too many of these places like this anywhere nowadays. Good nostalgia just from that perspective. Makes it fun. How is the pricing of everything? Actually reasonable for most things I saw here. There were some things that seemed to be fairly overpriced, but it was mainly for the rarer stuff which is understandable, but still pretty far over the market price elsewhere (online and such). But the general stuff sold here were all fair enough for a physical store. The service here, I actually didn't really interact with them much. While I was walking around the store I did hear customers converse with the staff and it seemed friendly enough, so I assume it's fine. They seemed eager to help when people walked up to the counter-adjacent areas, so there's that. Though I didn't walk out with anything the first time I visited the place, finally, I certainly almost wanted to grab something quite a few times as I was making my way through there. Will definitely be back at some point later.

First of all not ADA friendly, on the second floor, cramped, and very uncomfortable environment. We were greeted warmly at first, but then guy at the counter, said some condescending words to my wife. When she asked about One Piece sets and learning how to play, he said, " Follow us on Discord, you know what that is right?" She immediately clapped back at him and said, "yep surprisingly I do, and I use social media all the time." So if you want to be treated with disrespect, and treated like you should be cooking in the kitchen, and be a 1950's house wife, well then this is the place for you! A place of bad body odor, cramped spaces and sexist remarks, from this ignorant caveman. - 0/10 Overall: A terrible experience. Another reason why I would highly recommend this place is their awesome service, the owner made it extra specially by giving my son a freebie. Anyways, the daughter wanted to check this place out to get something for her friend's birthday; unfortunately, they didn't have the items/characters she was looking for. We browsed around, and it seems that a lot of the store is focused on modeling kits - lots of those, Gundam, paints, tools, etc. They have some aisles for plushies and other soft characters / mascots, etc., and some for figurines as well. They also have limited selection of those lottery things where you pay for a ticket, reveal what the ticket has and get that "prize." One of the things that caught our eyes were their mystery / blind boxes. Gambling! My daughter ended up getting a few of those, but sadly some repeats. Bad luck haha. Noticed they had a couple sets of Labubu for sale as well, but similar to a lot of stuff here, they were heavily marked up. For instance, when we went, Have a Seat was $65 a box and Big Energy or something was $85 a box. Wowzers! Crazy how there is such a hype, but they are hard to get, so desperate consumers would pay desperate prices I suppose. There was also a table of mystery bags. There is a hint to which character or anime or contents as well. None of those really caught our eyes, but maybe someday!

I first came here for a Lorcana TCG league, but quickly learned how the store is on pricing things. I only played for 1 season, because of the pricing. The materials we received were always priced higher than if you just bought them outright. I haven't looked much into other games, but I've heard they price things very high. This was also the hub for when I got into beyblade, but after a few months, we learned that new management didn't want us hosting events there anymore in place of another game. It was fun when I first got there, but over time, the store didn't really support the games I played, so it didn't feel very welcoming after a while. Your mileage may vary depending on your game.
