Arguably the best train store I've experienced from the Bay Area, even with the new location and the small shop, I still felt beyond welcomed and questions answered to the best degree. Perhaps not the biggest selection but certainly one that's growing over time with the store's new spot. Very fairly priced items and actively will be visiting more often.

A couple of regular customers wait for the store to open.

I drove 40 miles to check out this place, and I'm glad I did. When I arrived, I found that a couple of wild turkeys were waiting for the store to open ahead of me. They were kind enough to let me enter ahead of them. Once inside, I was immediately greeted by the owner, who apologized for not having any trains running yet. Can you believe it? They had been open for two whole minutes and hadn't started running trains yet. But before I could say, "all aboard," the owner had his Broadway Limited SP 4449 (HO) on the tracks, blowing its whistle and speeding down the layout. I toured the store and found a vast selection of locomotives, rolling stock, and everything anyone could possibly need to build a model railroad in any size, shape, or scale imaginable. As I walked around the store, I could hear the owner greeting customers and answering technical questions about the hobby off the top of his head. I spotted a few items that interested me and checked the interwebs for price comparisons. To my surprise, there wasn't a significant "brick-and-mortar tax." Pricing was fair. When you consider the investment necessary to maintain a well-stocked hobby shop, I'd say the place provides great value. I look forward to returning to Just Trains as I build my layout. Great service, great selection, and great value. Five stars!

On occasion, they will have their giant inflated Pikachu right out in front of the little shopping center area, so you can't miss it when that happens. What do they sell here? Kind of a little bit of everything really. There's toys, plushies, video games, models, figures, and of course Pokemon cards along with other stuff. Lots of fun stuff for all, and for all ages too as they have quite a bit of retro stuff floating around here. The place does remind me quite a bit of the kind of set-up I would see in Japan and stuff, where display cases are all over, with stuff just sprawled out inside of them for people to look and peruse over. There really aren't too many of these places like this anywhere nowadays. Good nostalgia just from that perspective. Makes it fun. How is the pricing of everything? Actually reasonable for most things I saw here. There were some things that seemed to be fairly overpriced, but it was mainly for the rarer stuff which is understandable, but still pretty far over the market price elsewhere (online and such). But the general stuff sold here were all fair enough for a physical store. The service here, I actually didn't really interact with them much. While I was walking around the store I did hear customers converse with the staff and it seemed friendly enough, so I assume it's fine. They seemed eager to help when people walked up to the counter-adjacent areas, so there's that. Though I didn't walk out with anything the first time I visited the place, finally, I certainly almost wanted to grab something quite a few times as I was making my way through there. Will definitely be back at some point later.

On a Friday afternoon I decided to check out Delta R/C, which on a good day is a 35-40 min drive from Oakland. Expectations were not high as their website seemed outdated, didn't list current info about events, and they had no online storefront. However, I was more than shocked by what I saw when I arrived: Largest brick/mortar store I have found, extensive parts department, indoor track and micro crawler course onsite (more race courses across street at fairgrounds). Staff was friendly, esp. Kristin at the front register. Also, found out about some events next day that I attended (just wish it was on website). I think Delta will become my 'home hobbyshop' but just wish they had an online store so I could peruse their inventory before making the 40+ min drive.

Well I've spent over $1k in this shop over the past month because I want to support a local business (not many hobby/RC shops around anymore). Today, I wanted to return a $31 LiFe hump pack as I decided to go with a 2S LiPo pack for HV servos. The battery was open box, but never charged, never used, essentially brand new except for the tape seal having been cut. The act of opening the box breaks their return policy and my request was rejected. No one told me about this detail in their return policy during my conversations with the parts counter employees or at the register. Needless to say, I'm disappointed enough to write a review. Be cautious with your purchases here.

First of all not ADA friendly, on the second floor, cramped, and very uncomfortable environment. We were greeted warmly at first, but then guy at the counter, said some condescending words to my wife. She immediately clapped back at him and said, "yep surprisingly I do, and I use social media all the time." So if you want to be treated with disrespect, and treated like you should be cooking in the kitchen, and be a 1950's house wife, well then this is the place for you! A place of bad body odor, cramped spaces and sexist remarks, from this ignorant caveman. - 0/10 Overall: A terrible experience. Do yourself a favor and hit up other shops in Martinez, like DVY Collectibles LLC, much better customer service and very ADA friendly.

Anyways, the daughter wanted to check this place out to get something for her friend's birthday; unfortunately, they didn't have the items/characters she was looking for. We browsed around, and it seems that a lot of the store is focused on modeling kits - lots of those, Gundam, paints, tools, etc. They have some aisles for plushies and other soft characters / mascots, etc., and some for figurines as well. They also have limited selection of those lottery things where you pay for a ticket, reveal what the ticket has and get that "prize." One of the things that caught our eyes were their mystery / blind boxes. Gambling! My daughter ended up getting a few of those, but sadly some repeats. Bad luck haha. Noticed they had a couple sets of Labubu for sale as well, but similar to a lot of stuff here, they were heavily marked up. For instance, when we went, Have a Seat was $65 a box and Big Energy or something was $85 a box. Wowzers! Crazy how there is such a hype, but they are hard to get, so desperate consumers would pay desperate prices I suppose. There was also a table of mystery bags.
