Like most people I have eaten at hundreds of pizza joints in my time. Well it is a feat to say that this was the worst pizza I have ever had. It started with a dough that was worse than any frozen pizza. Flat with no crust. How is this possible? I doubt it was made on site. Then the sauce, tasted like it was out of a jar and that is being kind to jarred tomato sauce. The cheese congealed quickly which told me it was cheap and probably imitation. Got the penne a la vodka and the lasagna and it came with only 1 small piece of bread. Everything was bland and watery. The guy gave me a piece of mozzarella and prosciutto while I waited for my take out which was really nice. I saw some mussels and seafood going out of the kitchen which looked good. Sort of looks like a pizza place from the outside, but whoo hoo, it is charming little restaurant. As an added bonus they take restaurant.com. We were offered the buffet which is $15 per person and sooo worth it. First the garlic bread is hot, crusty, and delicious, just that in itself is worth the drive. Then the buffet includes ceasar salad, antipasta, fish, chicken parm, penne a la vodka, and I forgot the other dishes. There are a couple of tables outside. Most of the inside tables were filled. The food and sauce are really good and I'm comparing this to NY Italian restaurants. My only issue there was only 1 person (owner or manager?) being the waiter for all the tables so it took awhile to get cups of ice and the check. read more

Great Italian food place!!! Thats how i would describe this restaurant. Otherwise its just a small little self service eatery located in a very uncharming plaza filled up with wooden chairs and table and tv's showing mob movies!!! But the food is authentic, fresh and cooked to perfection. Pastas, and risottos are all delicious and some of the best sandwiches are made in this restaurant. Places like jersey mike , subway and jimmy johns will be at shame with the quality and the size of the sandwiches and they definitely are a must have. I must say that I am a great fan of a well cooked risotto and this place never disappoints. The food truly is just too good at Talia's. Try the putanesca , arrabiatta or carbonara sauces just to know the differance between a traditional & classical Italian sauce than the ones which are served in the so called Italian chain restaurants (don't need to name them!!!) The chef/owner is a very helpful person when it comes to customizing your order and has great knowledge in culinary culture. He also conducts cooking classes during last sunday's of every month. A very enjoyable personality who has a great sense of hospitality and the same behavior reflects in his staff also. In this day and century, where we have cooking shows in almost every tv channel and people are so inquisitive about cuisines, restaurants like Talia's seem to be the perfect fit. We were a party of five ordering dinner from the menu (as opposed to the ayce buffet. The appetizers came out in a reasonable amount of time but the main course took close to an hour or more. The chicken Marsala and shrimp scampi had broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots in them. The sauce on the chicken dish, not bad but on the shrimp dish could have passed for Francaise there was so much lemon in it. (Lemon? in scampi-I don't think so) The pasta Alfredo had garlic in it (lots of garlic) The workers in the place yelled across the room several times in a very loud manner. I understand the sandwiches are good here but they will not be seeing any of us again. There is no place above for zero stars; which is what I would give it. AVOID!!!! read more

I had the risotto with Portobello and yes their own homemade sausage. My husband had the " Michelangelo" sandwich. Huge portions and absolutely DELICIOUS! Frankie the owner is a real charm. I can always go for some good old homemade Italian food, so today my friend and I tried Talia's Tuscan Table for the first time. Upon entering Talia's, we noticed that the entire place was covered in American-Italian decor. The walls are painted to resemble the Italian flag, many mafia signs hanging on the wall, salami hanging from the ceiling etc... Just plain weird. I must say that the interior is poorly designed, and unwelcoming to say the least. We then peered back into the kitchen only to see stacks of filthy pans and cooking equipment. It looked really dirty back there and unmaintained. Anyway, we both ordered subs and decided to give this place a chance. I asked for the herby chicken cutlet and mozzarella sub and my friend ordered "The Bronxer" lolol. The bread was the right combination of crunchy and warm, my chicken was a little dry but really savory. The red sauce saved the chicken though, it enhanced the flavor tremendously by giving it some moisture. The cheese was perfectly melted over the chicken, I really enjoyed it. Overall this place is worth a visit only if old, creepy Italian dining rooms dont freak you out lol. read more

The absolute worst service I have ever had. We ordered apps and when our main course came he told us the calamari was not good and he wasn't bringing it. We rejected it and he smirks turns around and places it on another nearby table and says here guys mozzarella on the house. So disrespectful. Very unpleasant experience on a Saturday night. The proprietor seems annoyed instead of welcoming. We went there specifically for pizza and was told it was not an option. We switched gears and ordered meals. They brought me out chicken marsala, but I had ordered chicken francese. Instead if apologizing, they acted like I had a problem. I agree with the last post the sandwiches are really- good- I had the pizza there the other night- no good- for sure it is a pre-made crust look at the tiny holes on the bottom of the crust- Good place for cheap beer and wine- however upon our departure I spotted the old man who works there taking the black plastic disposable plates out of the trash and wiping them down with a damp rag- YUCK! As soon as you walk in this place the smell hits you, and that smell is, amazing! I love all the signs that pretty much remind you of the soup Nazi on Seinfeld: "this ain't burger king. you can't get it your way. it's my way or no way." It can be intimidating if you don't "get it", but they are pretty nice people overall. I've tried a lot of their sandwiches and have never been disappointed. The flavors they pair with each item (meat/cheese/sauce) compliments each other faily well and I haven't had to make my normal adjustments I do @ other eateries. Fair warning though, their sandwiches are HUGE and it can get messy. Haven't tried their pasta yet, but it's next on my list. I'm sure they won't disappoint me. Yes, you have to get in line to order your food, there is no waitstaff to serve you, and if you eat in, you'll probably have to buss your own table... but that's the character of this place. Talias = Boca's hidden gem. I have been eating at Talias for about 5 years now. Never in my life have I enjoyed an eatery as much as I have Talias. Recommended by a buddy in college my sophomore year, I decided to give this place a shot. Since my first experience, a full month hasnt gone by without getting my hands on one of their JUMBO sandwiches. My favorite is the Marco Polo, decked with chicken, greens, tomatoes, and my favorite, apples and Gorgonzola cheese. WARNING: with great size also comes great flavor.
