Penne with Sausage & Broccoli Rane

For those missing their Nonna's cooking, or old school NY/NJ Italian cooking, Frank & Kevin will make you feel like home! Small, unpretentious with Godfather & Sopranos posters on the wall, this place has everything I miss about NY/NJ American-Italian. Kevin and Frank are both lovely conversationalist with deep ties to 80/90's NY Italian food. With large portilns, tThe Penne with Sausage and broccoli rabe was as good as my homemade, the carbonara was creamy & decadent, the chicken franchese was tender & flavorful! This is not fancy Italian, this is I came home to Nonna & Nonno's house for soul soothing Italian food and welcome home good feels!

Talia's is one of the most authentic and most casual Italian ambiance's I have experienced here in South Florida. Great service- very quick. From the owner, Frankie, and manager, Kevin, to all of the memorabilia all over the joint, and of course their food, make this place a local hit! My favorite thing to order is their Greek salad, best in Boca (no joke!), cheese pizza (New York style, so dang good and crisp) and occasionally we mix it up with Penne a la Vodka! Don't miss out on this hidden local gem! If you're lucky, you might even get a few jokes out of Frankie and some good stories from Kevin too.

THE MICHAELANGELO! Delicious. Get it on the ciabatta bread. It will blow your mind!

Sometimes the food is good, and other times the food is horrible. They will not make your order well, and they will not accommodate your needs. Beware of this company. Also, the owner literally chased me out of there years ago because they didn't give me the sandwich with the correct ingredients. Never order from them.

Everyone at our wedding had to know who catered it! My guest were raving about how delicious the food tasted! When Frankie says , "you ordered too much food , " listen to him! We enjoyed a ton of leftovers as well! Thank you for making our day extra special!

    Greek Salad???
    Britt Z.

Sometimes after just one experience, you know there wont be a round two, sorta like dating, right? Stopped in to grab a salad. I asked what ingredients were in the Greek and was surprised when he told me roasted peppers and artichokes are in it. For those of you who don't know me, I am very picky. And I know what I like and I have to be assured there will be no surprises in my food. I peeked at the salad when it was brought out to me & to my surprise there was a balsamic drizzle on top. Balsamic on a Greek salad? I'm not a fan but I was in a rush & thought I could pick around the drizzle. Was again surprised that the Greek dressing also had balsamic. I have my own dressing at work so I didn't swap it out. The small restaurant is not the cleanest and there is no counter to place orders. I stood in the middle of the room and told the owner what I wanted. When I paid him I handed him cash while standing up in the middle of the dining room and he gave me change from his pocket. The entire situation was just so bizarre. He kindly told me to grab a drink from the refrigerated case. That kind gesture was appreciated. I have to give credit where credit is due. When I told him about the balsamic issue he immediately offered to make me a new salad. I declined because I had to get back to my office. As I started picking at my salad I quickly realized that it wasn't exactly fresh. The lettuce was turning brown and the feta cheese was quite sour. I gave him a call to let him know and he proceeded to tell me I was wrong because he just opened a new bag of lettuce and a new package of feta. He also said maybe it was just me because I don't care for balsamic. He offered me a full refund when I come back. That was very nice of him but I won't be back. I didn't like the food at all & it wasn't exactly the cleanest place in town. I didn't feel comfortable placing and paying for my order in the middle of the dining room & the fact he implied I was wrong just completely irritated me. This should be a two star review but I added the third because he tried to make it right and I didn't have time. And also I am giving him the benefit of the doubt because maybe the balsamic did put me off. I know people who love this place, maybe it's just me.

This is my parents favorite place but not mine The place feels dirty. The owner Frankie is really nice but he is all over the place We ordered food and a few dishes we ordered, he gave us something else and but we let it slide The bread soaked in olive oil with garlic was the best thing here The pizza could have been excellent but it was over ricotta cheesed! We had a white clam and bacon pizza but they used pancetta and ricotta. Still tasty but too much The chicken saltimbocca was not good. The sauce tasted like thick canned chicken soup mix Linguine and clams were ok We ordered shrimp with lemon sauce but they sent out snapped with lemon sauce. Good. But not what we wanted When we asked for the bill- he thought about and just said " give me 95 bucks". Unreal Nice guy. But needs to clean this place up

I gotta Talia, this place is the real deal. We are so in love with Talia's, we've come for dinner five times in the past few weeks. My husband says the pasta fagioli is the best he's ever had. He loves the risotto too, and has sampled several of them. My Mom's favorite dish is the eggplant parmigiana. My brother and sister-in-law loved the chicken dishes. Frankie is great. Makes us feel like family and his wife Olga is one great cook!

This review is for Chef Baba's cooking class. He did an Italian cooking class at Tunies. A group of us went for the fun of cooking with an awesome chef. We had a great girls night out and cooked some amazing food and he shared some of his personal home made vino. . Definitely a great way to spend an evening. See the photos of some of the food we all made together. He is very well organized and makes cooking fun and he managed to get the whole group involved in making each step of the meal. I know this is not easy to do.

Turns out this establishment is owned by a fellow Brooklynite. I was sitting outside when these amazing crunchy looking heros came out for the next table. I had the best Greek salad that I've had in a very long time. It was huge. Lettuce banana peppers olives artichoke hearts onion delicious tomatoes feta cheese and a fantastic dressing. I also had a Margarita pizza. It was ok but that's Florida. Just can't get NY pizza anywhere !!!!!! Oh yea also crunchy tasty side of garlic bread with the salad.

The husband-and-wife owners are clearly hands-on... stopping by tables, checking in with guests, and keeping a watchful eye on everything. It's obvious they care and truly want you to have a great time here. I called for a reservation and it was basically sold out... when they said they could take me at 5pm, I grabbed it. Was actually perfect as I was heading over to see the tennis tournament after dinner. On arrival, the place was empty. As expected, when we left, it was completely full. A half bottle of Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay was perfect with my lobster. The wine list isn't extensive, but it's well chosen and fairly priced. The food was excellent across the board. A special of Scallops, Crab Cake, topped with Shrimp over Vegetables was fantastic. My guest enjoyed the Clams Oreganata. I loved my Baked Stuffed Lobster (stuffed with crab), served with amazing Mashed Potatoes... and bonus points for a real hand towel after the lobster. Of course, I had to try the key lime pie... very good. Now I understand why this casual, unassuming spot is so popular... it hits on every note. I noticed a bunch of regulars dining at the bar, which looked perfect to me. The bar is walk-in only... so next time I don't have dinner plans, I'll remember I can just walk in and try for a seat. I recently came back with a friend for oysters, clams, and drinks, and we sat at the bar for the evening. The oysters, clams, and mussels were absolutely delicious. I know the ownership has changed since I first came here, but I was so happy to hear the cook is still the same! It really brought back memories. We had a fun night overall -- although I may have slightly annoyed the bartender by asking her to take photos of us (they didn't come out too well under the lighting). Before we left, another server kindly helped us take a few away from the lights, and those turned out much better. All in all, I'm really glad I came back to give J and J's another whirl. The food was fresh and delicious, the atmosphere was warm and nostalgic, and it reminded me why I loved this place to begin with. You should give it a try too!

We never felt rushed and had plenty of time to look over the menu before ordering. We started with the Steak Tartare, served with beer-battered smoked onion petals, truffle, egg yolk, and manchego. It was excellent and one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the Za'atar Roasted Local Vegetables with spicy greens, feta tzatziki, lime pickles, and pepitas. It was good, but it wasn't my favorite dish. For our entrées, one person ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese with pork and beef ragu, housemade raw milk ricotta, and Parmigiano-Reggiano. It was rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious. We also ordered the Jerk Local Swordfish from Fort Lauderdale with braised Swiss chard, local radish escovitch, and jackfruit miso beurre blanc. While the swordfish itself was cooked well, I wasn't a fan of the jerk seasoning. The flounder, however, was outstanding and probably my favorite entrée. To drink, I had the Les Fumées Blanches Orange Sauvignon Blanc, which I really enjoyed. Someone else had an Old Fashioned. For dessert, we shared the Affogato with mascarpone ice cream, dark chocolate, and espresso, and it was a perfect ending to the meal. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and we appreciated being able to enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace. It is on the pricey side, but that's fairly typical for a farm-to-table restaurant using quality ingredients. There's a small parking lot behind the restaurant, and we were lucky enough to grab a spot. Overall, it's a fun place for a date night or a nice dinner with family. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. Or if you want, they have a great bar and you can hang out there and have a bite.

That afternoon we asked if we can add one more person (so 6 in total) and were told we'd need to arrive at 6:15 pm. Logistically, that makes zero sense. The extra table seat wouldn't be a problem, and adding 15 minutes for the kitchen for 1 extra meal? But, ok. We arrived to a nearly empty restaurant at 6:15. We are catching up, looking at the menus and within 10 minutes the owner is hovering over us asking for our orders. We ask for another few minutes -- we hadn't even gotten our drinks. He tells us we have 2 hours so we have to hurry. Look, I live down the block from Le Sorrelle. I pass it night after night, and yes, it's has its nights where it is party central. People love to host family events there. But most of the time, this place is sorely wanting for business. And while perhaps Le Sorrelle did fill up after we left, there was plenty of seating when we did slip out, well in advance of our 2-hour limit. As for the food -- I can only speak to what I ordered. A Caesar salad and Pizza Margherita. Both were awful. And I'm really not just saying that because of the restaurant experience that night. I previously had pizza at Le Sorrelle (albeit, years ago now) and it was quite good. Perhaps the cheese pizza would have been. As for a good Caesar salad, run, don't walk to Segreto Italia. Actually, just go to Segreto Italia, because Chris, Joey and Chip will treat you like gold and you'll have an overall outstanding experience.

They bring out fresh hot rolls with a small plate of cheese pesto and balsamic drizzle. Outstanding!!!!! We came to find out the owner who is the chef, his wife is a pastry chef and makes the bread and desserts. To start we had the Spanish chargrilled octopus. I know I have said this before about other restaurants, but I can truly say hands-down. This was the freshest, most tender, and one of the most flavorful grilled octopus that we have had. It came with a mixture of capers, potatoes, and vegetables in an amazing sauce. Truly fantastic. For dinner, my wife had the blackened yellowtail snapper in curry sauce, and I had the shellfish pan roast. Both were one of a kind dishes. We have never had such great flavor and seafood. Not to mention the amount of food that they put out and the presentation is worthy of awards. My wife's blacked snapper was cooked perfectly had a light blackened coating, and the curry sauce was tremendous. My shellfish were super fresh. Again cooked to perfection, tender, and flavorful. The sauce they were in was amazing. For dessert, we tried their homemade Keylime pie, and this too was top-notch and made fresh. We are planning our next trip to this restaurant and if you actually want a true fine, dining seafood experience you have to try this spot. I'm going to say it is priced accordingly for the true quality of food, the amount you are served and the presentation. If you are looking for a fried shrimp basket or fish and chips, this is not the type of restaurant for you. This is upscale seafood, and a true upscale seafood experience. You might want to consider making reservations as they do get busy and as I mentioned earlier, it is a small restaurant.

We sat at a table that gave us plenty of time for privacy and conversation. Sharing with a friend, we were able to share many items so we could try many different things. Some of my favorite things: Kebbet Laa'tin (Pumpkin kebbe, chickpeas, pomegranate, Swiss chard, onion, bulgur): love all the mixture of textures in this Arnabeet Mekleh (Cauliflower, tahini, almond, golden raisins): the smoky, caramelized cauliflower had such a rich flavor- and the raisins offset this so nicely Kanafeh (Kataifi dough melted cheese tart, orange blossom, pistachio): this was not only a showstopper- watching the liquid being poured on the entire tart tableside- the crunch on the outside, with the soft inside, was delicious! Last but not least, the creamy hummus and the homemade pita was wonderful. Thank you to our server for helping us decide what to order- and making us feel so welcome.
