We were out and about for the Delray Affair and decided on lunch at one of the local Atlantic Ave spots vs the street food dedicated to the event which also looked inviting. I had been to Mussel Beach years earlier and remembered how good the mussels were at that time so I asked my boyfriend if he would like to try it. Luckily, we were able to secure a booth upon arrival and the crowd appeared a bit later. Our server was helpful and the atmosphere was pleasant. Joe is amazing. The location is amazing. The menu is amazing. The wine list for wines by the glass: A. The appetizers were all on point. I have thoughts-- Visiting from California, I came here for the grouper. Having had the octopus appetizer, I think they should offer the white bean and spinach that the octopus came on for the grouper. I'd say do it blackened. Apparently this is what Joe eats at lunch when I suggested it. So maybe just put it on the menu? Anyways, order that. The service was spectacular and Joe was knowledgeable. He did say he had a vested interest, so you'd expect that. Stopped in for lunch and was really delighted with the food and service. The calamari was a delicious appetizer and the mussels were outstanding. They have several sauces for the mussels, and we got the Fra Diavolo which was great. Additionally, they give you a kettle size pot of mussels. You won't leave there hungry. DID SOMEONE SAY MUSSELS ? As the sun began to set, we took a stroll down Atlantic Ave from the railroad tracks to the bridge at the Delray Beach Intracoastal. Noticed a catchy name on the front of a building, "Mussel Beach Restaurant". Immediately, I got excited since mussels were my wife's favorite food. We went inside and viewed the menu and noticed they offered mussels prepared twelve different ways. The host sat us at a table near the window and bar. The restaurant had a nautical theme and loved the lightly lacquered driftwood table tops. Our server August was super outgoing with some unforced comedy which provided an instant glimpse toward a fun experience. He recommended the Mussels Prosciutto which was prepared with roasted garlic cream, caramelized onions and parmesan - one pound for $29.99. The host advised that the mussels are shipped in fresh daily from Prince Edward Island Novascotia. The mussels were presented in a steel pot loaded with over thirty hot opened mussels with french bread to dip into the warm cream sauce at the bottom. OMG, we were in heaven and just kept eating and eating with barely any conversation to avoid disrupting the mussel ingestion frenzy. They kindly provided a complementary side of truffle fries which were good, but did not supercede the incredible taste of the mussels. The bathroom was modern with dimly lit Franklin lights above the circular mirror. Absolutely a perfect way to end a night in Delray Beach with great food and wonderful hospitality. A friend and I were looking for a place to have lunch on a Sunday afternoon. This place was right on the main street and had a variety of items that we were interested in on the menu. We didn't have a reservation and was able to walk in and get sat right away. We've been to Mussel Beach for NYE 2019. For my hubs' birthday 2 weekends ago, he decided he wanted to come here for early dinner. It was not as good as what we remembered. Excellent service by staff, almost didn't go inside because the front door was stuck closed. (Really should be repaired, I can't be the only one) great crowd of people enjoying their meals. I sat close to the bar, bar tender was really nice, when I asked she said they are known for the burgers. Ended up with a wedge salad with steak and app of calamari. Everything was great. Mussel Beach had a clean beach vibe and a solid happy hour from 3 to 6 PM with good drink options. I ordered a lycheetini and a Chardonnay, both reasonably priced at around $10, with beer at just $4. We walked in for lunch today to a server Starr on the phone, took them a little bit to greet us until they notice we were there. Upon entry, we were told to sit wherever we wanted we chose a table and sat down, and then, as they were bringing us a highchair, as the server went to the back to get the highchair a man I'm guessing the manager told her we had to move into the corner of the restaurant. Normally, this would not be an issue however, this restaurant was completely empty-we were not in the center of the restaurant( today there was one family sitting at a table on the opposite side and zero customers on our side.) the tables that they wanted to move us to had less lighting, was harder to get into and had broken seat leather At this point, the experience had already been so poor and uncomfortable that we decided to leave. read more

I wanted to give this place 5 stars SO BAD. I'm here on holiday and I am a huge seafood fan. After hearing this place had a seafood bucket/boil, I wanted to give it a try. My father, step mom and I arrived around 7 pm for dinner service. We were seated pretty quickly without a reservation on a Saturday night. The waitress came promptly, took our drink orders, brought us fries which were complimentary and then came back about 10-15 minutes later. Fries were a great move but this place was clearly understaffed. No problem, we were in no rush. The waitress came finally and we told her we wanted the crab bucket, she quickly informed us that we would not be able to order it since there was not enough crab to fulfill an order of it. I was upset but that's okay, I took the opportunity to try the Chilean sea bass. About ten minutes later the waitress came back, apologizing because they were out of the sea bass. So now I'm confused. It's a Saturday night and a seafood restaurant is running out of core products on their menu. That's very concerning that now two of the items I tried to order were out, which told me that they don't order enough. Oh well, I had the salmon. The food was VERY good. The beet salad was vibrant and the balsamic glaze was soooo good. The clam chowder was delicious-- thick and creamy with loads of clams. My step mom had a crab cake which was also very good. My father and I both had the salmon; he had the pretzel crusted with mashed potatoes, and I had the ginger garlic glaze with coconut rice. Both were very tasty. Had to try this place for their mussels and boy were they delicious! We went for happy hour on a Wednesday and the restaurant was completely empty. There was one or two other tables that trickled in and out during our dining, so the vibes could have been higher inside. Server August was absolutely phenomenal- he was present, professional, and personable. He added so much to our experience! Would definitely recommend the Provencal mussel pot; one pound of fresh juicy mussels with the most delicious broth- definitely ask for a side of bread to drench in that broth. Shrimp tacos were superb, fresh, flavorful (got chorizo on the side for my boyfriend to have as I am pescatarian- which they accommodated no problem) I think adding some fresh diced tomatoes and a lime wedge to this dish would bring it to the next level. Unpictured is the fried calamari which was a miss :( the breading was completely falling off of the calamari rings and was under seasoned however the two sauces served with it were very tasty. Looked for a seafood restaurant in Delray and found this spot. My friend wasn't very hungry and opted for the French Onion Soup. I had to have the mussels but with so many choices I asked the server for my choice between Curry or Italian. The curry was recommended. The soup was dripping with cheese and multiple croutons. I think there may have been too much bread for my friend as she left most of it. The mussels were served in a large copper pot brimming with the black shells and two thick slices of bread. The sauce was at the bottom of the pot so I had to dig out an opening to be able to dip each delectable morsel into the tasty curry sauce. Left feeling very full. The staff and our waiter were very friendly and attentive. The interior has a nautical theme and the seats were comfortable. We each ordered a bowl of steamed mussels and shared a bowl of fries. The mussels arrived and they were large plump and had retained their marine flavor- really superb. The fries were crispy golden brown with a fluffy center - they kindly let us order regular fries without the truffle seasoning- done to perfection.
