Awesome massage at a very resonable price in D.C. Daniel is a master at his craft.

In short, Daniel is the real deal. Convinced by the reviews on Yelp, I made an appointment a month ago, and my 90 minutes appointment turned into three hours. It was an amazing massage. I've been back twice, and Daniel never disappoints. Like the others mention, plan to start your appointment a few minutes late (it's worth the wait). If you're looking for a sports massage therapist, Daniel's your guy. I'm currently training for an Ironman, and Daniel holds me together week to week. The only disappointment is that I'll be in Boston for the next nine months and I can't take him with me. read more

Daniel is knowledgable and passionate. He understands the body and takes pride in his work. He is excellent at diagnosing and fixing specific areas. If you tend to be rather modest you should let him know and he can accommodate you. I myself am not, and was happy to have my gluts worked. I never felt he stepped out of his professional role. read more

I went to Daniel at Talented Touch for my first-ever massage after reading the great reviews on Yelp. As many have said, he gave me a longer massage than I had booked, and I didn't have to pay extra. I got the feeling that he really wanted to find the spots where I was tight and sore, and that he wouldn't end the session until those issues were resolved. He even gave me a bottle of water and a granola bar since I hadn't had a chance to have lunch! As others mentioned, he explained what he was doing and showed me how I could do stretches at home to target my problem areas. He even showed me stretches I could help my husband do for his bad ankle! As far as I can tell, the only reason that Daniel doesn't have all 5 stars is because a few other reviewers felt uncomfortable. Let me respond to some of their concerns. Others have complained about him being way too close. Like I said, I never had a massage before, but he explained that he was going to climb on the table before he did it, and I didn't feel uncomfortable at all, even though he was straddling me. He's very professional. One woman mentioned that he pulled down the sheet to expose her chest. Interestingly, my large chest is why I went to Daniel-- I have a lot of tension because of it. I was worried that it would be a problem when I took my bra off, but he let me keep it on, and made sure the blanket never slipped inappropriately. It is an intensely physical process, but he is very professional. I usually don't like people touching me, but I did not feel uncomfortable at all. If you've never had a massage and have been nervous about going, consider Daniel! He's really easy to open up to and is attentive to any concerns you have. read more

Daniel is absolutely amazing. I am a runner and have had my fair share of massages over the past few years. Daniel is definitely in my top three of all time. He massaged as well as stretched me. I swear I felt 10 inches taller when I got off the table. I found Daniel based on his reviews on Yelp. I would recommend Daniel to absolutely anyone! read more

I am surprised to see so many good reviews of TalentedTouch; my experience there made me uncomfortable. Daniel the masseuse was late, and spent the first 20 minutes or so rambling awkwardly about personal issues and things I wasn't sure I wanted to hear about. Then he began the massage and continued to talk (more to himself) throughout the process. He was very touchy and a few times I wondered if the things he was doing were relevant to massage practice. At one point he got on the table while I was stomach down and pushed on my pelvis-a process I was extremely uncomfortable with. I was so uncomfortable during the entire thing, that I ended it abruptly saying I had run out of time (since we started almost 30 minutes late) I feel bad writing such a negative review for a man who is obviously very knowledgeable about the spine and human alignment, and is probably just socially awkward. However, I wouldn't want anyone to be unpleasantly surprised with his untraditional methods. So if you're looking for a traditional massage, I would venture elsewhere. read more

Daniel is above and beyond what you could ever expect from a Massage Therapist. He recognizes those who understand their own bodies and want to be a participant in the massage process. I've always tried to do self-treatment at home, but there always comes a time when you need to see someone else. Daniel helps me with congestion in my muscle tissue, full body alignment, and assisted stretching. Not only do I leave Daniel feeling better about my body, but I also feel like I understand how things went wrong to cause misalignment and how to fix it. I've recommended him to friends and they have been impressed with his sessions as well. read more

I found Talented Touch on Yelp and I'm glad I looked! I have tried massages in many differents cities and countries. Not only is Daniel very good at what he's doing but he's also an amazing person, which makes the whole experience unique. I try to go there regularly, as much for the soul as for the body. read more

I went to Daniel after reading his great reviews on Yelp. He did not disappoint at all. Daniel is seriously the best masseuse I have ever been to. Sessions with him are not like your typical spa massage - it's more a mix of a physical therapy session and a spa massage. People's descriptions of his sessions are completely accurate. Daniel really takes the time to evaluate what's going on with your back (or wherever else you may be having pain), and then he works through them. I saw that he has one bad review, but I'm a woman and I never once felt uncomfortable around him. Danny explains what he's doing as he's going along and asks you if you are OK periodically. On top of being a great masseuse, Daniel is actually a really really kind person. He actually cares about whether or not he's helping you and will work as long as it takes to work out your problem areas. I highly recommend him to everyone!!! read more

Daniel helped me relax and find stretches to do in between sessions with him to loosed up my very tight stress muscles. I get frequent headaches but Daniel showed me some breathing exercises to remedy them. He is very knowledgeable and an amazing massage therapist. read more

Daniel was absolutely great! After reading the reviews here, I was looking forward to getting a massage from him. I immediately felt comfortable when I met him. He has such a good energy about him. I was having a lot of pain from sciatica and was hard to pin point where it was. But he was able to find the spot and was able to work on it. He also gave me a lot of pointers about posture, alignment and stretching. He absolutely loves what he does and it shows in his work. I felt so relaxed by the time I left... I highly recommend him and would definitely go back. He is such a gracious, generous (with his time and knowledge), and very worldly person that anyone will feel comfortable with him and his talented hands! read more

A massage should be tailored to you, not just mass produced every hour on the hour. Daniel takes the time to talk to you about your situation and any particular issues plaguing you. And he is an amazing masseur. He feels like a friend. And you walk out feeling more relaxed and at ease than you have in a long while. Daniel is a one-man massage studio located in the washington sports club. He manages to create a haven for relaxation in his studio. And his rates are reasonable. read more

I have to agree with all of the incredibly positive reviews about Daniel's practice. The five reasons I recommend Daniel: 1. Makes you feel comfortable, from the very beginning. 2. He cares very much about your specific circumstance. Your history really matters. 3. He is incredibly genuine - a great human being. I had to bring up payment! And he said (as I am a student), "pay what you can." 4. He takes the time to not only give you a massage, but give you the advice to fix the underlying problems. 5. He's just good at what he does. A gem in the city. read more

I had my 10th massage with Daniel this week. Your 10th massage is FREE, which is a good example of his extreme generosity and positivity. He is an incredible, intuitive masseuse-- it's amazing how much more energy and clarity I have after a session with him. Couldn't recommend him highly enough. read more

I saw all the reviews warning women about his massage technique, and figured it wouldn't bother me, since I was forewarned and I'm really not shy about nudity (I used to change clothes while driving to sports practices, trust me, having strangers see some goods does not bother me). I just wanted to get rid of some back and knee pain, and decided it didn't matter as long as my pain was gone. In massage terms, it was amazing. I felt fantastic afterwards, he did a really thorough job on everything that was sore, and it was probably the best bodywork I've ever had. HOWEVER, it was VERY, VERY, VERY invasive. Not only was he making grunting sex noises the entire time, but he seemed to be very purposefully rubbing his junk against my head, my feet, my hands....! Then he had me flip over, and yanked the sheet off my boobs, saying "you're from California, you don't care, you girls are crazy!" Excuse me? Sure, plenty of people have seen my boobs without bother on my end, and I'm proud of those ladies, but the fact that he didn't ask and just assumed I was fine with him suddenly exposing me and then grabbing both of the ladies to "massage" them (did NOT feel like a massage...) made me really uncomfortable. Then he started working on my legs, and made sure to give my vagina a good rubdown. Like fingers kneading into the lips, etc. I thought he was going to finger me any minute. Besides, my vagina does not need to be massaged. I couldn't even justify that in terms of bodywork. I wanted to say something, but I was so shocked that it took me a few minutes to spit out that I wanted him to focus elsewhere. Afterwards, my muscles felt the best they ever have. But I felt incredibly gross from all his wildly inappropriate touching, by anyone's standards. Bottom line: good massage? Yes. Walking the line between assault and bodywork? Definitely. I thought I was prepared, and I definitely was not. I would never go back. read more

While Daniel has a lot of knowledge in the area of body massages, this was by far the strangest massage I've ever experienced. Daniel's hands got way too close to my genital area, when massaging my backside he often gave me a huge wedgie from my underwear. When Daniel had me turn onto my back, he pulled the sheet down revealing my breasts so he could massage my sternum. I think Daniel is a good guy but gets way too into his work and doesn't realize that women might get uncomfortable with how close he gets to body parts that are normally kept private. read more

Like all of the previous reviewers, I have to say that Daniel does AMAZING work. He is incredibly knowledgeable, intuitive and truly interested in the mechanics of the human body. He is also a high energy, genuinely caring and endearingly quirky guy. I have never had a massage like the one he gave me, and I can honestly say it's the best one I've ever had. I was so relaxed for days afterwards and my body felt looser and more flexible. I would recommend him to *almost* anyone. I say almost anyone because I think it takes a certain open mindedness when approaching Daniel's style of massage. First off, like many others have mentioned, it is NOT a relaxing, bliss-out, spa massage with fancy candles and where you can doze off and kind of pretend the massage therapist doesn't exist save for his/her hands working on you. I would say Daniel's massages are like a cross between massage therapy and physical therapy. They involve a lot of adjusting of your joints/ligaments/spine as well as massaging the muscles. This is not to say that Daniel's massages aren't good for de-stressing, but they do tend to be very interactive. He will ask you if what he is doing is working and is really interested in working with your body to get most out of it. For example, he pointed out to me that my right leg was shorter than my left leg and then spent time trying to help me stretch that side of my body to even them out because in the end, that asymmetry affects the way your body carries its weight and consequently can cause pain. So his massage is not only curative for pain, he also tries to help you find preventative ways to deal with pain, which is great! Second, as other readers have hinted, he is sometimes not the most punctual. If you are one of those over-scheduled types who has every day planned down to the minute, Daniel might not be the therapist for you. Granted, he might be late because he is giving other folks ahead of you extra time to help them the best he can, but it is still good to approach one's appointment with a good cushion of time and a laid-back attitude. If he's running late, chances are he will make it up to you by giving you extra time as well. My 1hr massage started 1/2 hr late and he ended up giving me 2hrs! While I loved the extra time--he claims that it's hard to get all the work done that he wants to do in a session as "short" as an hour--I think Daniel is a consummate professional who charges very fair rates to begin with and I believe people like him really need to be paid well for the great (extra) work he does! I ended up leaving an extra large "tip" to address the bonus time, in spite of his modesty and protests, but he totally deserved it! Man's gotta make a living, you know? if he ever goes out of business, I don't know what I would do! These are not serious complaints on my end though--I am obviously happy with the way he works. I just wanted to give others who may have different expectations some idea of what to expect to help them avoid any potential disappointment (but you won't be disappointed!) and to help Daniel avoid any negative reviews due to misunderstandings. Like the one reviewer who claimed Daniel got too close to her private areas. He is nothing but professional, and he works on you assuming you have a certain degree of comfort with massage and with your body. If he is doing something outside of your comfort range, then it's up to you to say something. He is a very good listener and would never intentionally do anything to make you uncomfortable. The nature of massage sometimes requires you to be open minded and flexible in order to get the maximum benefit. I say all these things partially to scare away new customers so I can keep Daniel all to myself and get appointments whenever I want them!! Truly, Daniel deserves to have a huge and loyal following. He is one of a kind! read more

Daniel is a good masseuse, but I'd never go back. I've been getting massage for over 20 years and this is the only time I've ever demanded the masseuse stop. It's worth reading through all these reviews. Daniel gets very in to the massage and his style is weird. He breathes like he's having vigorous intercourse. He leans so close that his nose is an inch from whatever part of your body he's working on and his breath is on you. I tried to explain this to him and he was clueless. I honestly don't think that he's doing anything wrong, but I was so skeeved out I ran out nearly screaming. He's not a molester, he's just really creepy. I dismissed the concerns of other women on this site, thinking that women who where their underwear to a massage are bound to be creeped out. It's not them. It's him. read more

Daniel really is amazing. I've been twice and plan to go again regularly. As others have said, it's definitely not a "spa" experience. He's got a small room next to an active gym. However, what an amazing person he is and incredible massage he gives. The last time I went, I was actually on time (a shock to anyone who knows me) but he was running a little late and needed to eat. I didn't have plans, so said that was fine. Between that and some conversation, I didn't actually get on the table until about 30 min after our start time. Boy did he make that up. 2 hours later, I was done with my 1 hour massage and floated out. A couple more notes - Daniel is not the guy for anyone who just wants to be pampered or who is modest AT ALL. He goes places that most massage therapists don't, but not in a skeezy way at all. He does sometimes get up on the table with you and he will massage your butt - that's where major muscles and tension are. He is a professional, and if you remain in that mindset, you will have one of the best massages of your life. Frankly, I've had some pretty awful experiences at places like Red Door that charge an arm and a leg. I'd rather go to Daniel ANY DAY. read more

Daniel is just great. After each time I get a massage, I walk out of his studio floating. I'll echo what many have already said. It's an "active" massage. He stretches you out and manipulates your muscles. I've never received the same massage twice because he always focuses on problem areas, and those are bound to be different. I view that as a sign of quality and care, that he doesn't just go through the motions. And yes, he is a little quirky and sometimes runs a few minutes late, but I find him charming and always professional. read more

I've shocked at how many good reviews he's gotten - who wants someone humming the entire time they're getting massaged? Or squatting over them on the table? And all for a mediocre massage. Maybe he means well, maybe he's a creep, but either way it's not a good massage and definitely not relaxing. Look elsewhere! read more

Daniel is quirky, funny, and a talented therapist. He is genuinely interested in determining what's going on with your body. And he can use a lot of pressure, if that's what you like. read more

My back was in spasm and it was hard to stand straight. The massage I received from Daniel was fantastic. He gave me several stretches to do, suggested using Tiger Balm strips, and recommended other massage tips and tools. I can honestly say that I am feeling almost 95% healed. I have seen doctors, received muscle relaxers, had acupuncture and cupping in the past, but Daniel's massage and suggestions beat all. I am grateful for his help! read more

I visited Daniel because I was experiencing some neck pain and general muscle soreness as I workout 6-7 times a week. I've never received real "body work" only messages at spas so wasn't sure what to expect. My first impression of Daniel was extremely friendly, caring, and quirky (very chatty as well :)). He did a 30 minute assessment and we chatted about my workout routine and where I felt the most sore. I scheduled an hour long appointment but i went well over 2 hours, which he didn't charge me for (in fact, he apologized and gave me an additional 10% discount). Overall, it was very relaxing and provided a great sense of relief. I'd warn anyone who's sensitive about touching around private areas (although, this is pretty typical for a deep athletic massage...). I never felt violated or uncomfortable as Daniel is extremely professional and is only doing his job. I will continue going back to Daniel and look forward to the long-term results. read more

I booked a massage with Daniel, and it was quite relaxing. It was like any other massage I have had. He did kind of talk a lot during the massage, but other than that I enjoyed it. read more

Amazing! I've been studying for the bar this summer so I went to Daniel for a much-needed massage this afternoon based on the Yelp reviews. He is incredibly accommodating and will fit you in to his schedule if he is able. The hour-long session lasted an hour and a half and he only charged me for an hour! (Plus a discount!) I feel absolutely relaxed and ready to face the next week of studying before the bar. Read the other reviews and then call Daniel and book an appointment. You won't be disappointed. read more

I went to Daniel today, after reading such amazing feedback from yelp. Wow- I can not say enough great things. Much has already been said in other reviewers posts, but I don't think I have ever left a massage feeling not only an inch taller, but somehow I think my self-esteem improved and I was educated on self-care! Amazing. I think it's not completely accurate to call it 'massage'- it's more 'bodywork" or something. I think every ligament in my body was attended to. I cannot recommend him enough- however, i think the uptight, the ultra-conventional, those looking for 'pampering', this might not be the place. But for those really looking for relief from pain or stress...just make an appointment. I also received over the scheduled time and it was easily the best, most intuitive massage I have ever received. And I think the price is completely reasonable. He is also the nicest guy. I will make another appointment soon. read more

I must say upfront that i never had a massage at Talented Touch because of the problem with scheduling. Daniel appears to be a good masseur but disorganized. He needs a good receptionist. Massage business is becoming competitive and if he continues to do business as he does, he may lose his clientele. I would not patronize a business that is not together regardless of any talents. As for complaints of some females about being "violated" it sounds funny to me. Massage is invasive procedure. When you lie down there naked under the sheet you pretty much surrender your privacy to a professional who you trust. If you don't trust - don't go there. When they ask or write on their forms: "Do we have your permission to touch here or there..", I say, "touch whatever you feel necessary, just make sure my pain is gone and I get my money's worth." Some people go to massage and keep their underwear on and some women keep bra on, and say don't touch here or there, then why are you paying for massage in the first place? If you set up your rules then don't demand therapeutic result. You are wasting your money. Human body is interconnected with energy meridians, nothing is isolated. If you play isolation game you cheat yourselves. Well, did not think I would come to defense of Daniel after the bummer w sched, but reading some of these dumb reviews got me going lol! read more

Daniel is amazing. He was recommended to me by my friend and her sister who has worked with him and he was even better than they alluded to! I was very stressed and tense and needed something to take my mind off everything, and Daniel was perfect. He really cares about his clients and he provides a very calm and tranquil environment so it feels like you're on a mini vacation! I have gotten several massages and I would say I felt the most invigorated after Daniel's massage. He gives you tips to make your body stronger and explains to you what he's doing, showing astonishing knowledge and attention to detail. He definitely puts 100% effort behind his work. His prices are very affordable, I got a discount as a student, and I have recommended him to multiple friends. Check him out! read more

I went to Daniel today after reading rave reviews about his "Talented Touch" on yelp. And I must say I couldn't agree more with rest of the reviewers. He is really friendly and really knowledgeable. He examines your body and explains to you what exactly is nagging you. And lets you know about simple but important tricks like using your left hand more if you are a right handed to create balance or how your muscles are working out for you and what kind of simple exercises you can do to keep the right posture. He worked on my back , feet, shoulders & neck and it feels so much better now. He went on for like hour and 20 mins but he was like you must have read other reviews I couldn't go that long today so he charged me only $40 bucks for an appointment of 1 hour. WHERE ELSE WOULD IT HAPPEN????? I would definitely recommend anyone to go to Daniel to get rid of their stress or chronic pain. A cure for the common massage. At other places, I've often wondered why "deep tissue" didn't feel any different from non deep tissue massages. I now know what massage therapy is supposed to feel like, and I'll be paying Daniel the greatest complement I can - I'll definitely go back. read more

I've known Daniel for many years and when he was visiting my body was so out of whack that just some simple things he did helped me feel better. I really can't imagine him doing anything that would make someone feel violated. I think that if he says something "off" to some people it's his sense of humor which might be misread. To get a very deep massage, that is one that may not be "comfortable" for some, there are pressure points in our bodies that need to be touched but it isn't in an inappropriate way. He gave me some good references as well as encouragement by telling about others who were in much worse shape and how they overcame their predicaments. He cares for his clients. As far as not wanting a regular client, that is just a one time massage, there may have been other reasons that he did not pursue this. Very kind, interesting and sensitive person. Yes, he is not "typical" but isn't that a bit refreshing? read more

daniel is a true massage THERAPIST. i just saw him today, and what a difference! he is very friendly, well-educated and endearing ... although maybe "conventional" types might not appreciate his personality as much as i did. he is very devoted to his craft and very communicative -- a sign to me that he is dedicated to his client's needs and comfort. i was completely at ease from the moment i met him. i can't wait for our next appointment and the knowledge that he will share with me to help me keep in tip-top shape. he is the real thing, and a very genuine, good soul. read more

Daniel is an excellent massage therapist and really delivers results. Yes, he's a bit quirky compared with many massage therapists I've visited. His technique, while somewhat unconventional compared with run-of-the-mill therapists, gets extraordinary results. One of the most quirky (and not bad quirky) things about Daniel is his commitment to working on you until you are better. I've had hour and a half massages run over 2 hours as he works to get things loosened up completely. I leave and I'm so totally relaxed, with knots released that haven't been released in years, that I sort of ooze home. While Daniel works muscles I've never had other therapists come close to, he has never been inappropriate. I was a regular customer until he took a break to do some somatic training. And I found someone close to home that I adore (with a totally different style but still very effective.) I recommend him highly! read more
