I've been a couple times and tried three of their sandwiches and their potato chips. Staff aren't friendly or rude just somewhere in the middle teetering on indifferent. There were eggshells in my friend's sando and while they did make another one for her, it was not without an irritated stare. If the food is good, I'm fine with cold staff but it's so so. Let me explain. The two egg sandos on the menu are exactly the same with the exception of one having a soft boiled egg and the other not having it. I thought there had been some difference so I had ordered both which had been totally unnecessary. It's creamy, it's eggy, it did remind me of the Lawson egg sando I had in Japan but over there it was like 2-3 bucks and here it was min 14/15 bucks. I know eggs are crazy expensive these days but I can just make my own and it'll taste identical. The croquette sando had two big croquettes in it with cabbage that was all pushed to the back so each bite was either just croquette or just salad. I love that these are filling heavy but I wish their bread was just a little thicker because it is very good! Soft, fluffy, but very thin which does a tiny disservice to the sandwich because it does feel like you're just eating filling. Potato chips are made fresh which is fantastic and they are exactly as you would imagine them to be. Fresh potatoes thinly sliced, fried and salted. Super crunchy and come out nice and hot. I do still kind of want to try the fish sando and the coffee cream sando but I might just cool it for now because I haven't exactly been blown away and for 12-18 a sandwich I can't really justify coming back to be potentially meh about the whole thing. There's a bidet in the bathroom which made me extremely happy LOL and for that I almost want to give this a four stars but this is about the food so no bonus points. read more

This sando shop is a must try. Made the trek out from the other side of Brooklyn to give this spot a try. If you're reading this, I'd highly recommend you do the same and make a day of it out in Greenpoint! We were restaurant hopping so we only tried the Ton-Katsu Sando. This was one of the best sandos I've had in a while and definitely one of the best if not top sando in NY. I'd highly recommend you eat the sandwich while it's still pipping hot as they have a ton of space for seating with a back room and small outdoor area that would be great had it not been the middle of winter. It's also not as crowded as we were expecting likely due to it being quite cold out. Sandoooo- crispy, juicy, flavorful, savory, and saucy. Literally no better combos in a well put together sandwich which this tonkatsu definitely had. Can't speak to any other items on the menu, but definitely go with this to start! The staff is also great! Staff at the front taking our order was quite nice and welcoming and someone brought our sando to us quite far back in the restaurant even though they gave us a buzzer so we didn't have to go up and retrieve it. The wait in line was long for sure, especially since I went during the weekend. It was around 4:30 PM, and I probably waited 30 minutes in line and 20 minutes for the food. I had the chicken katsu sando, my personal go to and it was really delicious; the bread was super soft and did not get soggy, the katsu was crunchy, hot, fresh, and tender/juicy. Really really good, and worth a revisit. Another noteworthy dish is the dashi furikake fries, which are essentially ribbon fries dusted with a beautifully umami and aromatic seasoning. There are other flavors too, but this is a great addition to katsu sando and something most other places don't offer - i haven't seen it yet. It was a little chaotic and disorganized, I wasn't really sure where to wait for pick up so I got in line. I can accept some of the blame because I picked up the sandwich and drove 20 minutes back home before eating it, but I would say that's even less than delivery time so it should've held up. The taste was good, but unfortunately the bread was too soft and soggy by the time I was eating it. It kind of mushed into everything else and didn't maintain its structure. I was full after eating the first half. The ribbon fries were interesting. It was a mix between a chip texture and like a baked potato texture. The seasoning was pretty good. There's some seating inside but the backyard it's def the prime spot. It's a pretty cool setup with all the Snow Peak gear. After an extended hair appointment, I was hungry and in need of quick sustenance. The name Taku Sando stood out to me. In the corner of my mind, I remembered a tiktok where it talked about the Sandwiches from this place. So I decided to go there. This is a place that uses colors in their aesthetic so you are not getting just the black and white vibes. Even the utensils are colorful but the vibe is not overwhelming. I love the fact they have small items for sale in addition in cute colors like pens and stamps. They emphasize their sandwiches and wine. In terms of the latter, you can see bottles of wine next to the Knick Knacks they sell and a bunch of wine related drink options. The cashier is right when you enter which isn't a problem when it is not packed (it wasn't on a early Friday night) but could be a problem otherwise. In my order, I got the egg sandwich and a yuzu ginger ale (nonalcoholic). The yuzu ginger ale was refreshing and delicious with the balance of sweetness and tartness coming from the yuzu. When I saw the egg sandwich, I thought it was two small stacked on top of one another. But in actually it is more like a Big Mac as it is one sandwich with a piece of bread in the middle. They don't do the additional piece in the katsu sandwiches and I get a why because without it the egg salad would be a lot. The Japanese egg salad itself was creamy and they don't skimp on it. The Japanese milk Bread (shokupan) they bake is thin but fluffy to the taste. But for me, If i were to get the egg sandwich again, I would getting the ribbon fries. This would be to add more crunch to the dining experience since eating the egg salad by itself could be boring after a few bites. I would go for the Katsu options next time because they look so good. The toilet is heated and it may have bidet options which is always a nice touch.
