Had to come try this viral sando that I saw all over IG! My bestie and I got the tonkatsu sando and the agitama tamago sando to share. We had to wait a bit for the tonkatsu sando because it was freshly fried! It did not disappoint! The agitama tamago sando was not exactly like 7/11 in Japan but it was packed with egg salad and very delicious. They make the milk bread in house and it was soft and little bit chewy. I've been a couple times and tried three of their sandwiches and their potato chips. Staff aren't friendly or rude just somewhere in the middle teetering on indifferent. There were eggshells in my friend's sando and while they did make another one for her, it was not without an irritated stare. If the food is good, I'm fine with cold staff but it's so so. Let me explain. The two egg sandos on the menu are exactly the same with the exception of one having a soft boiled egg and the other not having it. I thought there had been some difference so I had ordered both which had been totally unnecessary. It's creamy, it's eggy, it did remind me of the Lawson egg sando I had in Japan but over there it was like 2-3 bucks and here it was min 14/15 bucks. I know eggs are crazy expensive these days but I can just make my own and it'll taste identical. The croquette sando had two big croquettes in it with cabbage that was all pushed to the back so each bite was either just croquette or just salad. I love that these are filling heavy but I wish their bread was just a little thicker because it is very good! Soft, fluffy, but very thin which does a tiny disservice to the sandwich because it does feel like you're just eating filling. Potato chips are made fresh which is fantastic and they are exactly as you would imagine them to be. Fresh potatoes thinly sliced, fried and salted. Super crunchy and come out nice and hot. I do still kind of want to try the fish sando and the coffee cream sando but I might just cool it for now because I haven't exactly been blown away and for 12-18 a sandwich I can't really justify coming back to be potentially meh about the whole thing. Not the traditional Japanese shokupan. It doesn't have that same richer complexity and airy texture that I am accustomed to in authentic shokupan.
