First time to this location. Small like the others but hey food and service was good. The food was very good. There was more than enough food for us. We even had leftovers for the kiddos. The drink was gone before I finished my starters. Tempura Asparagus was so good, when you take a few bites you don't even know what it is. It's flavorful and crunchy. Worth every penny The veggies rolls were ok not worth $8. The crazy rolls were great. The tako burger was juicy and the fries were nice seasoned and HOT. They ask how you want it cooked also. Almost better than a burger joint burger. Definitely a must if someone is a NOT a sushi lover. The nachos with your choice of protein is HUGE and flavorful. They ask how you want your steak cooked for your nachos. It seem like all my chips had a topping, which was amazing . I will definitely come back to the location. read more

Been going here for years and always loved it. Tonight was vastly different. I had to call three times before anyone answered the phone. When I went to pick up the servers standing around doing nothing couldn't bother to look and locate my takeout bag in full view. An employee clearly doing more than her share of the work finally helped me. No big deal, right? Well, I brought the food home and the sushi smelled fishy and tasted bad. I threw it out after one bite. Nothing like flushing $15 down the drain. The nachos had no lettuce, tomato, guacamole. What kind of craziness has this placed turned into?! We have been to the Aiken locations many times and have had great food. We went to the Augusta location today and it was not good. We won't be back. The rolls were about half the size as in Aiken, there was barely any filling (mostly rice) and they forgot to put the avocado and cucumber inside the roll. The shrimp tempura in one of the rolls was very over cooked, dark brown and tasted more like a pre-breaded frozen shrimp you would get at a bar. At $15.99 per roll they should be tasty with a decent amount of filling. The wait for the food was long, approx 30 minutes. We left very disappointed and still hungry after a $50.00 bill. We did tell an employee/manager who asked how everything was and she said the sushi chef was new and she would let him know, That was it. Do not recommend. read more

Some old friends of mine had decided to get together and visit, and I suggested taco sushi because I've had excellent food and service there in the past. However, this time was the worst experience I've ever had our food and service was wonderful up until the very end, when our server started to clear the table and asked us if we could go ahead and leave as there were people waiting to sit. I let the server know that we were not quite ready to leave for two reasons. The first reason was that it was pouring down rain outside, and the second reason was, we were still trying to visit with each other. Our server than later came back a few minutes later and cleared away our drinks, which we were still drinking. He also left a dirty cleaning rag and a bottle of spray on our table and said that we just needed to leave. I have never been asked to leave a restaurant in my entire life. We asked to speak with a manager who told us that the policy at taco sushi is to ask patrons to leave if they have been there for an hour and a half and people are waiting for a seat, however, we had only been there an hour and 20 minutes. I have never heard of such a policy for restaurants, but I'm sure I won't go back... very sad for a yummy food spot. read more

I sat outside today for a nice breeze with dinner. The Tempura asparagus were really hot and tasty. I loved them. I ordered an amaretto sour for my drink with light ice. This is how my drink came to the table. Does it look like light ice to you?. I asked Adam, the waiter why wasn't my glass full? He said that's your light ice. Umm, that's definitely not light ice and doesn't warrant why my class wasn't full. I will NOT order a drink again. It was not good either. The sushi was a little cold but it was good. This has been our go-to sushi place for two years now! You get a unique twist with the burger, the fries are good, and I've gotten the Susan roll religiously since I don't care for raw fish. Don't forget to try the guacamole and the southern mule! We always go at prime time, so just practice a little patience since the servers always seem to be very busy. I had heard of Takosushi, but until December 26 hadn't tried it. Suffice it to say, I loved it. My son and I started with chips and salsa. While simple, the salsa has a great flavor and is mild so everyone can enjoy. We also had the shrimp shumai. They were piping hot, perfectly cooked and delicious. Next we moved to the rolls. We had the Dynamite, Hannah and Julie. All were excellent. The spicy shrimp is awesome. We watched a number of items cross the bar (where we were seated). Whether they were the sushi or southwest dishes they looked great. Additionally, our server was attentive and on top of refilling our drinks along with clearing our dishes. All with friendly rapport and a smile! We will be going back and I recommend you do the same! read more

This restaurant just lends credence to my belief that fusion food cannot be done well. The best compliment I can give this place in terms of its food and flavor is that it is edible. And I guess the gyoza was pretty good because they didn't try to do some sort of Mexican dumpling I guess. The idea behind this place is good, and the restaurant has its heart in the right place. Mexican food is awesome. Japanese food is awesome. So if we put the two together, it would be doubly awesome?! However, it just comes off as confused like the place's decor. It doesn't work and not for the lack of trying. The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. And you can tell from the plating and presentation they the kitchen staff is trying too. If you're looking for Quality sushi that'd you'd find around Atlanta, this is it! I've always been a big fan of sushi, it's something I get once every few weeks when I lived in Atlanta. This place hit my sushi crave well. The ambiance is nice and lively but a bit of wait some times. I waited 30 minutes to get a table for dinner but was well worth it. The Susan roll I got was flash fried and so delicious, I would definitely get it again and everyone at my table who tried a piece said it was their favorite of the night. They simply do not miss! The Surrey Center location is by far my favorite. My fiancé and I have to indulge here at least once a month. If we don't, the cravings run STRONG! The service is great. We like to eat at the bar to watch them make the rolls, and when you see something you like, you can ask them what it is! We always have to get the tempura asparagus to share, and our favorite is the Jesse Roll. BEST quality sashimi and sushi in town. Hands down, no argument. I've had sashimi from countless places in Augusta and Atlanta, and I have found that I like Takosushi's salmon the best. Their tuna, escolar, and other raw fish are also very fresh as well. I always get the bento box here that comes with any roll of sushi, 6 pieces of nigiri (2 of salmon, tuna, and escolar), and 6 pieces of sashimi (also 2 salmon, tuna, and escolar). The box also comes with cucumber salad and miso soup. I love their soup, but the cucumber salad got a little salty for me since it was basically cucumbers soaked in soy sauce. This time I also ordered a Sexy Salad which is basically the cucumber salad with some fish on it. For the sushi, I chose Cary's roll that comes flash fried. I like it, but the rice was packed very densely this time which gave the sushi a weird texture. Otherwise, all the food was good. There's not a lot of seating here, but the waitress did her best to get us seated as soon as possible which I appreciate. It was a good dish because it had lots of different meats and vegetables, and the broth was tasty too. If you want sushi, order a roll as an appetizer or in addition to your main dish. They came stuffed with chorizo and cream cheese and a cheese dipping sauce. Overall pretty good. For our entrees we ordered: The steak takos, 3 takos from the "choose your style section of the menu" and sumo soup. The steak tacos come out fajita style where you build your own tacos. Good amount of food, however I found the steak to be pretty tough and chewy. Definitely would not order again. The sumo soup is stuffed plump with all types of seafood (mussels, shrimp, salmon) but is overwhelmed with the salmon flavor. After a few bites it's hard to taste anything other than the salmon. The three takos that we ordered included the pulled pork, chorizo & fish. Out of all the food we ordered this was by far the biggest crowd pleaser. The takos come out already made and accompanied by beans. Overall probably won't be back again for the "western" side of the menu but will definitely be back to try the "eastern" (sushi) side of the menu. read more

This was one of the best meals I've eaten in a long time. The Tempura Asparagus is an absolute must. I would describe it as "discovering that Santa Claus is real".
