We love Takodas! I would say by now we are somewhat regulars. First of all, the drive up here is beautiful... we are huge fans of the McKenzie River. Then, once you get here, it is a log house feel kind of inside... very cozy. My kids like how the whole restaurant is kind of a gift shop also.. lots of cute toys, puzzles, stuffed animal etc all around for sale downstairs and upstairs. As for the food, we've never been disappointed. My husband usually gets shepherds pie, I usually get the salad bar (which is super rare in restaurants nowadays so I super appreciate that they didn't get rid of it) and my kids usually get a personal pizza. Another thing you need to try here is their root beer on tap. So good! While we wait for our food, they have an awesome outside area with a pond with fish that my kids love. Then to top it all off, we all love that they have jelly bean dispensers with multiple flavors so my kids can pick a few flavors to enjoy on the way home. My kids call it "the jelly bean place". Pretty good reviews from other Yelpers but different story from my experience. Was deciding on the buffalo burger or pizza. Decided on pizza since their menu selection was mostly pizza. The pizza was way under baked. I took one huge bite and it was all doughy and soggy in the middle. To be nice, I think the pizza would have been fine if they had left it in the oven for about 5 more mins or so bc everything about the pizza was fine. We saw this place while driving up to the cabin in Mckenzie River. After debating on what to order for, we ended up ordering Veggie pizza and oh my it was beyond delicious. We enjoyed the sweet potato fries and the onion rings and the focaccia BLT; but avoid the grilled cheese - it sounded tasty with bacon and grilled apples, but it came with overgrilled, dry bread and a pathetically small amount of cheese. read more

The best! The only thing better than the food is the staff! I felt at home! When I came back to Eugene I stoped at a brew pub in McKenzie called the station pub. This place is way better than you might think from first impressions. Granted, the restaurant looks like any kind of roadside diner in Oregon, but once we made it through to the outdoor garden, we realized we had thoroughly underestimated this restaurant. Takoda's offers a surprisingly modern menu with pizzas, sandwiches and burgers that have options like the world class Rogue River Bleu cheese. I had a tuna melt which was quite good, my mom had the classic hamburger which she really liked (not extraordinary, but good), and my husband had the mac and cheese (enormous portion!) with a (Ninkasi?) porter reduction. Very nice. The garden is so beautiful as well, and I highly recommend sitting outside when you go. They have a lovely fish pond with a waterfall, a gorgeous view of a mountain/butte behind the restaurant, and because the garden is closed off from the road, it doesn't have the feel of being by the highway at all. Our only complaint was the poor service. Perhaps they were having an off-day because nobody else here mentions it (or perhaps a lot of these reviews were written by their friends), but it took much too long to be seated, and the guy who did seat us never said a word the entire time. The service wasn't exactly rude, but it was like everyone was in a bad mood and very tired or something. Not sure why, since it was only the start of Sunday lunch hour and not busy yet at all. The food also took a good half hour to come out even though our orders were really simple. Not sure what happened, but I almost gave this place a 3 star review as a result. The food is quite good though, and the garden is lovely, so I do recommend checking out this place. Perhaps the service will be better! read more

This place is bomb! Anytime we go camping near this area it's a must to stop at Takoda's for breakfast. This place has the best french toast. I don't know what it is that makes it so good but after camping and hiking for a couple of days it hits the spot. The outdoor seating area is really nice too. Enjoyed a few meals here. Breakfast was great. Great bacon and large portions. The Rebuen sandwich was a favorite, too. The best, though, has to be their pizza. It was thick and tasty. I'm usually a very thin pizza kind of guy, but this hit the spot. I've had moments of craving more of it. The Harbicks, who are the owners, are great people who also run the store next door. Takoda's is pretty good. It's next to Harbick's off 126 down the Mc Kenzie River. I ate here twice on one trip. Not a lot to choose from, but was worth it. Sit indoors and watch the big screen in a open room type area. Sit outside at one of a half dozen tables. Grassy area, big trees, and a small pond... the setting was very pleasant. Pizza is a specialty here. We got a large specialty meat lovers, and it was GOOD! The next day, the guys got a custom and smaller pizza, but the crust was not as thick. Their little salad bar is pretty good quality too. You can get a one trip for $3 and unlimited for $5. They also serve buffalo burgers, which I hear was very good. They have a good selection of beers and wines. The Wliiamette Amber was VERY good. Prices were pretty good. Parking was never an issue. I'd go back. read more

My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to have brunch or lunch in the area - we were staying at Belknap Hot Springs and were not about to wake up for the 6:45am breakfast. We started looking around and decided to hit up Takoda's for brunch. Our waitress (Taya) was the sweetest thing ever - she was just genuinely happy to be helping which was a breath of fresh air. It's hard to find people in the service industry not rude or jaded in some way, but she wasn't. The food was also amazing - the salad bar was fresh and delish. They could use a little work in the "coming back around to fill up your coffee cup" but when they did, they were very friendly and stopped to answer our questions about the area. I rolled into Rainbow, Oregon, about 11:00 am, nervous about my first whitewater rafting trip scheduled for that afternoon on the McKenzie River. In my eagerness, I had arrived early, so I stopped at Takoda's for a light brunch. Once I passed through the entryway, which was open to the kitchen, I could appreciate the décor. It was a good fit for the surrounding forest. It was woodsy and understated, with lots of knotty pine paneling and local art on the walls, much of it available to buy. Additional seating was provided on a balcony overlooking the main dining area plus an inviting patio. Pinball machines filled an area in the back, with slot machines in a separate no-kids-allowed niche for anyone feeling lucky. I was greeted immediately at the door and asked whether I wanted breakfast or lunch. I took both menus and had a hard time deciding. The offerings for both were appealing. Breakfast entrees were typical, but the lunch menu pulled me in with its unique offerings. I settled on the Italian Ham/Sausage/Provolone Focaccia sandwich with pub fries. Other side options included coleslaw, soup, and kettle fries. I was also tempted by the well-stocked salad bar. The server was friendly and courteous and the service was efficient. (Of course, I was there before the lunch crowd hit, so I can't speak to rush hour service.) The sandwich was displayed attractively on the plate with the fries and a lettuce garnish. The sandwich exceeded my expectation. The bread was fresh and the meat and cheese tasty. Loved the fries (and I'm hard to please when it comes to restaurant fries). They were crispy and delicious. All in all a pleasant and relaxing experience--and the prices were budget friendly. read more

Despite being grungy and sweaty from a day of riding, we were welcomed into Takodas. It's a casual place with a pretty outdoor patio and a large gameroom in the back. And it's less than 15 minute drive from the end of the Mackenzie River Trail. They have pretty broad menu - we stuck to hamburgers and some really good fries. The service was good, and the waiter was happy to bring me a big bag of ice for my banged up knee. The beer selection was above what I'd expected with some good local beers. We came back for brunch the next day. We were really happy to see that instead of the measly two thin strips of bacon I've becomed accustomed to in LA, they give you four, thick slices of crispy, perfectly cooked bacon. From the outside it doesn't seem like much. But the setting changes once your indoors. There is a great little gift shop with super cute accoutrements. And the prices are very reasonable. This was my first time here but my mom comes often. I had the chicken fried steak with hash browns, eggs over easy, and a biscuit. Everything was delicious. I recommend sharing because the steak was huge. We also shared a Marion berry pancake. It was like breakfast for dessert. Every meal I had at Takoda's was fantastic. I love their omelets, hash browns and their JoJo fries! My friends raved about their pizzas, but I am a sandwich and burger girl so I didn't try it out. The food is cheap but so delicious! The restaurant is newly built, clean and welcoming. It has an outside patio too with a very cute pond. There is slots and video poker in the back, and poker tables on the second floor. Very neat is the display case with Big Brother TV show memorabilia. The owner was on the CBS show Big Brother 8 and past alumni of the show donated items to the case. The staff is friendly and great! No complaints! read more

This is a very good place in McKenzie Bridge. We were visiting from out of town and had a very pleasant experience. They have a huge menu with a massive selection of pizzas. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is clean, they were following COVID protocols completely. While we were waiting for our food, we walked around their cute little gift shop where they sell everything from cute little trinkets to clothes to memorabilia. We went on a Saturday night, right before closing. They were very busy. Food took a little while to get to the table, but it was worth waiting for. Baby back Ribs were excellent!!! Just the right amount of smoke. Great sauce too! I don't like any fruit in my Cole slaw tho. Daughter's burger and wife's sandwich were both really good. Service was good too. This was such a cute place to stop by on my way home from Hoodoo. I was starving and their Sasquatch burger was PERFECT! So yummy. They were also very accommodating for all of my requests: taking Swiss cheese off, adding BBQ sauce (which, by the way, was so good. So original, very unique. Loved it) and even when I asked for a half portion of their dessert they did it. Their gift shop was adorable and even though the outside doesn't look like much, it was a cute little place.
