So far so good. Last time we were here it was more store than restaurant. We live in the area (part time) and decided to come in for lunch today. Cool tunes playing and the vibe is good. Awesome selection of local(ish) beer/cider on tap as well as many coolers with a variety of beverages. There's also beer/wine to go if you need to take some home. Ambiance is mellow and trendy; corrugated siding, natural wood, black fixtures make it cool. Picnic c tables, metal tables and window bar seating with little hidden spots provide ample indoor options. Outside is a big patio with a large fire pit and lots of tables. Can't wait for summer to come for music and dinner. For the nature lovers, there are lots of fun books, field guides, puzzles and ephemera to browse. Don't forget the artisan chocolate and candy stashed around the place. Together we ordered the seasonal adult grilled cheese with onion rings and the pulled pork sandwich. I love that they use fresh local and organic ingredients. You should expect to pay a little more for such great stuff and the distance one has to go to supply a restaurant 50 miles from a "major" city. The food was great; wouldn't change a thing. And yes, I bought a Smokey the Bear jigsaw puzzle! Can't wait to come back and enjoy a night on the patio with an awesome band playing. See ya

Nice spot to refresh and recover from the Tomalitch Blue Pool hike since it's close to the area. We got in and enjoyed some drinks while we waited for the kitchen to open at 4pm. There was covered outdoor picnic tables and patio seating. They have a fire pit for the colder weather. There's a live band that plays on the weekend so that was nice to enjoy as well. I ordered the quinoa salad with chicken. Love love the chimichurri sauce with it and the light clean flavors that made up this whole dish. There was a lot of salad to eat. I could have totally shared this with someone else. There were port-a-potties and a wash station for use. They have a parking lot. And there's historical information about this site and local area that's cool to learn.

The perfect spot to grab food and drinks after a big day on the River or the National Recreation Trail! It is approachable, comfortable and delicious! After going in the front counter and ordering food, they bring it outside to you on the back patio! It is very quick and convenient for those wanting a quick-food-stop on their drive back to town, and it is also quick for those that are starving after a day playing at the McKenzie River!! The Obsidian Grill gets bonus points for me, for allowing doggos on the outside patio- it is huge and spacious and spread out so the dogs can have their own space- and not be right next to a potential-other-dog. The patio is huge!!! ANd, they have covered and uncovered options. And, both times I have been there they have had some sort of Live Event. The had an author, and representation from Oregon Wild speak about her book release, and they had live music the 2nd night I was there! They have a nice beer selection, but the last time I was there I ordered RootBeer on draft from McKenzie River Brewing, and it was clutch! Their fries are top notch! They use a little bit of Cajun spice seasoning on their, and there is the right amount of salts (to help re-gain some electrolytes after a big day on the river!)

This was a trip to the Sweet Home, Oregon area to hike McDowell Creek Falls. (Highly recommend the falls hike). On our way, we stopped at The Point, just outside of Sweet Home. Not much to look at from the outside and kind of a diner atmosphere inside. Somewhere, I read you had a "view" to the water. As you can see from the picture, it's a view (sort of) to Foster Reservoir. OK. However, the food and service were surprisingly good! I ordered the special of the day, a Chipotle Burger. Cooked perfectly with 1/3 lb local beef patty, bacon, chipotle sauce, lettuce, red onion and accompanied by some very good fries. My wife had the grilled cheese and it was awesome as well. Her only complaint was it had too much bacon. Yes, you heard that right, too much bacon. I also have been trying NA beers and the only brand I have found I like is Deschutes out of Bend. They had a Golden that I hadn't heard of and it was, in true Deschutes fashion, very good. Our server was Becky and she was amazing. She greets the regulars by name, was very helpful and informative, but not too chatty. If we were in this area again, we would definitely go back. Without hesitation. Great find!

The small pieces were the only drawback. Sweet potato fries rounded out our meal. Melted marshmallows with some cinnamon or pumpkin spice would have been a great accompaniment with the sweet potato fries. Dessert was their luscious coconut cream pie. The crust was crunchy, pie itself was smooth and just slid down your throat into belly heaven. A must try for sure! Atmosphere was calm with a few other diner. Flies swirled about overhead in the main dining room and saw cobwebs hanging on a lamp by the window.

He sweats and pushes us to order and eat fast, doing that waiter thing when they pretend they are not rushing you. "Just checking if you need that plate taken away." Not fooling anyone. Brusque to my brother who is into fine wines and requested tastes of some by-the-glass wines before committing to a glass or a bottle. My wife stated she is uncomfortable around the server. We don't go to the Open Door much now. Old review. A real romantic spot. Great drinks. My wife loves it. Sitting outside is best but the bar is good too. Some nights they put tables in the art gallery out front and you sit around the paintings and jewelry, kind of fun. There used to be a waitress named Kristen or Kirsten, a lady with long hair and clogs, the best server I've ever had and I don't just mean in Central Oregon. The Open Door is the probably the best dining experience in Sisters. Living in Tumalo and working throughout Oregon, I go to Sisters often. Unfortunately Sisters isn't a great town for food. The Open Door has some very-good food, and some pretty-good food. You never know which it's going to be. The halibut, meatballs, and lasagnas are solid. Berries and cream dessert is great. The menu doesn't change much over the years. If my wife didn't love it I wouldn't go back so often. Get bored eating the same dishes over and over. When my brother and his grown kids visit they like the atmosphere, especially those small houses outside with the plants. However they have trouble finding a selection that works for their way of eating, allergies, one is vegan and one is lactose intolerant.

The vibe was peaceful and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind. Service was attentive, though a bit on the slower side, we waited almost an hour for the main course. They do have a kitchen break between 3:30-4:30 PM, and I'd recommend making a reservation if you're planning to visit during peak hours. The food was fresh, flavorful, and creatively presented--it's clear the chef enjoys experimenting with unique flavor combinations. My husband tried the seafood lasagna, which was a tasty and satisfying treat. The scallops dish was also delicious, though slightly too salty for my taste and quite light--it came with a small amount of polenta and a vegetable purée, so I found myself a bit hungry afterward. Many people around us were ordering pasta, and it looked fantastic--definitely something I'd love to try next time. Overall, a beautiful place with great food and a memorable atmosphere. Highly recommend!

But this place in Bend... this is serious burger territory. First thing you notice: they're not messing around with the menu. Just burgers that understand what a burger is supposed to be. Double patty. Brioche bun. Cheese doing its job. America. I ordered The O.G. because I respect tradition. American cheese, caramelized onions, burger sauce. Simple system. Works great. Like a pickup truck that starts every time. My buddy got The Popper which is basically what happens when a jalapeño popper and a burger start collaborating. Bacon, jalapeño cream cheese, ranch. It looked like something a scientist made to test the limits of happiness. Fries were solid. Soda cold. No weird nonsense. Just burgers doing burger things. Only reason it's 4 stars instead of 5 is because if I lived closer I would probably eat here too often and that feels medically irresponsible. I'd give it 6 stars if Yelp understood burgers better.

The staff was friendly and personable, and the menu looked promising. We ordered the steamed mussels, beet salad, McArthur burger, and wild mushrooms. The burger was probably the highlight of the meal. Mine was a little more done than I prefer, but it was still very good. The beet salad was enjoyable, though not particularly memorable. The mussels were okay, but several were chewier than I'd expect. The biggest disappointment was the wild mushrooms. I was expecting something that would showcase the variety and flavor of wild mushrooms. Instead, the texture and taste reminded me of the canned mushrooms I grew up eating as a kid. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. We passed on dessert and left feeling a little underwhelmed given the prices and the setting. Would we come back? Probably not. In fact, when we were deciding where to eat the following night with friends, we suggested Three Creeks Brewing instead. If you found this review helpful, give it a like so it can help others too.
