Takoda's is a perfect stop to eat on HWY 126. We enjoy their outside patio ambience, the landscaping is well done and inviting. They have shade umbrellas in the summertime. We've eaten several items on their menu, but we always do the salad bar. They have a excellent selection of vegetables. Burgers are all very good, and gluten free buns are available but the veggie burgers have crackers in them. The onion rings are my favorite. Pizzas are very good also and they do have gluten free dough. The berry cobbler with ice cream is delicious. The service has always been excellent! We ate dinner at Takoda's in Rainbow twice this week while on a multi-day bike ride. Years ago our group did the same ride and I am sorry to say that the food isn't as good as when we were last there. There were 10 of us and the staff were able to get our drinks and food very efficiently. The patio is really a pleasant place to dine. Monday I had the Orange Chicken (as did one other in our group) and it was super spicy, not what one looks for after a long hot day on the bike. The menu didn't mention anything about spice. Wednesday I tried the Patty Melt and the burger was cooked to very well done, almost crispy. According to others in our group this seems to be the way they cook their burgers. The one entree that did get good reviews was the Walnut Chicken Salad. Both nights those that ordered it were pleased. Again, great service but the food is lacking. read more

I know that most places are understaffed right now, but having us wait at the host stand for over 10 minutes while multiple servers pass by several time and telling us "just a minute" starts wearing thin on my patience. Any way, finally we were seated outside as requested. It's a lovely patio with multiple tables, very lovely. None of the cooks or the inside waitresses had a mask on, despite the mandate still being in effect. So, in case you are worried about such a thing, please be forewarned. Now for the food: my sweet potato fries were crispy and thick, a bit too much so. The BLT on focaccia was good but not great because the focaccia was not crispy/crusty enough on the outside. However, the bacon was delicious! My friend had a grilled chicken burger which she truly enjoyed. So all in all, a mixed bag. Stopped in for dinner on a Friday night. This place is between Eugene and Bend in the woods along the McKenzie River (not much else around). Kelly ordered the French Dip and I had the Buffalo Burger and a beer. They have a nice selection of micro brews and wines. Kelly says the French dip was excellent, the roll especially. I have driven by Takodas Mckenzie Bridge 532 times, but never stopped. Today, the long line at Snow Cap in Sisters OR, and a suggestion was...tryTakodas. The waiter was friendly, informative, and professional. He answered all my questions and unlike other waiter/waitress robots who start out their Im-just-hoping-for-a-tip quest by introducing their name, and "I'll be your server" with a blind stare, this one was actually real and down to earth. I like that. No corporate liner cards here. Had I asked what sucks about his waiter job, i think he would have been honest. The menu prices were good. I had a salad bar buffet. Except for broccoli, I think everything was there. I'll add that they use premium raisins too. Salt, pepper, parmesen cheese, good assortment of dressings oil vinegar...the stuff available here that some corporate bean-counters elsewhere have dumped to guarantee their Christmas bonus. The ambiance is slightly above average. There was a tall waitress in a mini skirt that added to my above average score. So why not 5 stars? The soup, had i ordered it with the salad, would be chicken noodle. Sorry, but Takodas needs an alternative. I'm not sick. The food was quite good. A definite step up from the generic Dennys, Applebee's, or IHOP. And...I think slightly less prices than those. It was also a step up from the Sisters tourist trap restaurants. You know, Sisters needs another "Tap House" right? The food and service was good enough that I'll consider Takodas again when speeding through McKenzie Bridge or Sisters. read more

If you're in Blue River, Oregon this is the top restaurant option. The salad bar is really good, and my absolute favorite menu item is the baby back ribs with the country mash potatoes. The pizzas are really great, and this is the perfect place to get food and drinks after day on the river or when your driving to or from Bend, Oregon; conviently next to a gas station and right across the street from the basketball camp, Tokatee Golf Club, and the McKenzie River Bridge. This place was a nice surprise. Friendly staff, outdoor seating, micro brews, big portions. What else could you ask for? I split the Ruben with my guest and had cottage cheese. It was big enough for both of us especially since the doubles the cottage cheese so we both had enough to keep us happy. There was a 3.00 charge to do that but we were ok with that. On the way to our hotel in Blue River, I started searching for dinner options. Tripadvisor immediately made this place look awesome. Great reviews, nice website, well rounded food options and nice photos of the dishes from guests. We were hungry after a 6hr drive and I am so happy we chose Takoda's for our only dinner out on this trip. Super easy to find, plenty of parking, clean restaurant and wonderful, friendly service. We ordered the Mac & Cheese (after seeing photos online, we HAD to) and a pulled pork sandwich with one plate at the salad bar. I am a sucker for a salad bar and this one did not disappoint - while the $3 plate was pretty tiny, and you could only go once - it was worht it. Great salad options and fresh nicely prepared ingredients. Once we got our dinner we were even happier. My Mac & Cheese was the best I've ever had. It was prepared in a skillet with toasted cheese on top and some kind of light sauce that was amazing. My husband really enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich with tater tots and 22oz local beer. Takoda's restaurant and gift shop is a great place to stop between Springfield and Sisters. It is in a beautiful setting next to McKenzie River. My buffalo burger with cheddar cheese, onion, tomato and lettuce on a yellow bun was very good. The coleslaw was also good but could have used a little more flavor. The staff is fairly efficient and friendly. If you must bring your dog, as some many people do, it can join you in the outdoor seating area. read more

We love Takodas! I would say by now we are somewhat regulars. First of all, the drive up here is beautiful... we are huge fans of the McKenzie River. Then, once you get here, it is a log house feel kind of inside... very cozy. My kids like how the whole restaurant is kind of a gift shop also.. lots of cute toys, puzzles, stuffed animal etc all around for sale downstairs and upstairs. As for the food, we've never been disappointed. My husband usually gets shepherds pie, I usually get the salad bar (which is super rare in restaurants nowadays so I super appreciate that they didn't get rid of it) and my kids usually get a personal pizza. Another thing you need to try here is their root beer on tap. So good! While we wait for our food, they have an awesome outside area with a pond with fish that my kids love. Then to top it all off, we all love that they have jelly bean dispensers with multiple flavors so my kids can pick a few flavors to enjoy on the way home. My kids call it "the jelly bean place". What a delicious breakfast spot in the middle of nowhere on the McKenzie Highway! It was recommended by the motel I stayed at after a wedding, and I was craving pancakes. I'm usually on the savory side of breakfast fare, but today was a special occasion, and the pancakes were calling. Takoda's is spacious with indoor and patio seating, as well as a small section for takeout items. The waitress was attentive, though for the small number of people she seemed a bit overwhelmed. I ordered a single pancake with marionberries and the scrambled eggs with a side of avocado. The one pancake was enough for a full meal, fluffy, delicious, and the marionberries cooked into the fluffy goodness were perfection. Holy smokes. This place is a gem! My husband and I had the nacho fries (as recommended by our lovely server) as well as some boneless wings with the Korean sauce. I had the BBQ chopped chicken salad and my husband had the Sasquatch burger. All of it was SO GOOD! Literally it was so delicious we ate way too much. I thought we'd have leftovers to eat for dinner but we just couldn't get enough. Service was great too. We just had water, but our server made sure we had enough. We didn't have much luck in the Rainbow area with restaurants. We seemed to get bad service, bad food, or both. So we tended to hold up at Takodas. From the street, the place looks like a cowboy bar, or maybe a "B" movie set. Inside was sort of a typical generic eatery - rows of mass produced wooden tables, flanked by a salad bar. Out back was a patio set in a beautiful garden, nestled among a grove of old conifers. The food was very good, and arrive in honest portions. The service was friendly and experienced. Tokodas was hopping - apparently other folks were holding up here too. On Saturday night they had live music and the patio was packed. We were at Takodas a lot over our weekend. The salad bar is decent. The fish and chips are good. The onion rings with Takodas secret BBQ sauce is to die for. Their pizza is quite passable - not gourmet but damn good. We loved this place! Our waitress Cheryl was a sweetie and we had a lovely spot int he sun outside.My husband loves his eggs sunny side up and NO ONE ever makes them right! We were here for the weekend in this majestic part of Oregon where the most splendid McKenzie River is always at your side. Lot of ground to cover for sure, though there are not that many restaurants inbetween. We did find this one thanks to a local recommending it however. We ended up going here twice. The first time for dessert. I ordered a glass of wine and asked what the desserts were. Everything ended with cheesecake. Raspberry cheesecake, 3 chocolate cheesecake, some other cheesecake. You get the picture. Cheesecake has never been a favorite of mine as the whole cheese thing in a cake just seems wrong. I can always taste that cream cheese or the sourness in it. I did want dessert so I picked the one with white chocolate, dark chocolate and milk chocolate mousse cheesecake. A mouthful, yes I said it. I took a bite of it and it was so light (another thing I dislike is the rich density melty blech) much more mousse like! Had another bite, and no sour after-taste.. Converted slightly perhaps? The best! The only thing better than the food is the staff! I felt at home! When I came back to Eugene I stoped at a brew pub in McKenzie called the station pub.
