Takoda's is a great place to stop for lunch if you're traveling on the road or about to do some rafting. Their food was delicious! I drove in from Eugene to visit the McKenzie river, and off of a local recommendation, drove an additional 30 minutes to visit Takoda's. It looks like your average gas station side restaurant but there is a cute outdoor patio that I'd highly recommend enjoying during good weather. We ordered their onion rings which were huge, hot and delicious. The BBQ sauce that comes with them is great. The rings had plenty of batter but also thickly cut onion slices - win! I had their buffalo burger with Tillamook white cheddar and avocado. It was yummy with a nicely toasted bun, thick juicy patty, and fresh toppings. Their side apple cranberry slaw is well worth the upgrade dollar. It's a nice cut to all the grease you'll otherwise be eating. They also have a salad bar where you get a plate (main or as a side) and can create your own salad. The ingredient were fresh and of good quality - a surprise for most salad bars. Our server was attentive and friendly, always filling up our glasses and checking in. I was really impressed by this little roadside restaurant and would highly recommend anyone traveling through to stop in! read more

This is the forth time I've been here and have been pleased every time, so far. Busy place. Outside seating. Salad bar. This is the third large party I've been a part of here, 35 or so folks. They handle it well. Everything comes out at the same time, and nobody has wanted. I'm having prime rib tonight. I ordered an end cut. MyLove ordered the salmon. Good coffee. Taya, our server, is efficient, patient, and she has a nice demeanor. Food is coming out, the mixed veggies look nicely cooked, the plates are attractive. I didn't get the rice pilaf but it looked good. Food was coming out... The natives are getting restless...prime rib coming, with a baker and mixed veggies. And here's my end cut. Hmmm..wrapped in bacon. Bacon is good. This is good. This end cut is very good. This is just what I wanted. Marionberry cobbler for desert. What could be better? Everyone is pleased. I am apart of a group of cyclists and we were passing through Belknap Springs on our way to Bend, OR. We were craving some pizza and decided to swing by Takoda's. Their pizza was SO good! The restaurant itself is somewhat secluded and is the only one in the area so they had a pretty good variety of meal options. For seven cyclists, two large pepperoni pizzas was plenty (and we event saved some for breakfast, too)! The staff was super friendly and the service was efficient! We also got two salads and the ingredients were pretty fresh; the dressings were awesome! If we are ever in the area, I'm sure we would stop here again :) read more

I was glad to see that there was a restaurant on this stretch of Hwy 126 because we were getting a little worried that we would go on for hours without food. Here stood a little restaurant, that, given the traffic and surroundings, was still busting with business. They had sandwiches and such... but I actually preferred the hot food that the convenient store next door had to offer... not only was their food better, but for a city girl, a 10 minute wait for a sandwich had me waiting too long for lunch, so I browsed next door and bought more food. read more

This is a great place. In the middle of nowhere on highway 126 you come upon this gas station and restaurant. The food here is phenomenal. Great salad bar, great burgars. everything is awesome. They have really nice outside seating in the summer time. The staff is always friendly. They also have lots of little fun sayings and weird little books like "Things you shouldn't do after age 30" I would go out of my way for this place. Great excuse for a summer drive. We had hiked the McKenzie River trail for about three hours, so after a rest we were ready for a good meal. Takoda's did not disappoint. We sat on the patio and I ordered the 1/3 lb burger with fried onion rings and chipotle sauce. My wife got a southwestern salad. The food was delicious!! Friendly customer service and excellent food. This was my first time trying Takoda's on my way home from a long weekend near Sisters. I had the Patty Melt with sweet potato fries and spinach dip as an appetizer. Everything tasted fresh and made with quality ingredients. They also have free wifi which is helpful because service is spotty in the area. If you've had a day on the river, and you're looking for a solid road house meal, you couldn't go wrong here. Apart from Mom's pies (have to lead with that, though not quite the Mom's pies a I remember, though all is better in youth) they have good meals at several price points, with a good mix of local beers (though could use more local wines). Kids will like the little Knick-knacks by the register, and parents will like the Oregon souvenirs (or if the kids are elsewhere, maybe video poker in the back). The house and dinner specialties are not, perhaps, up to Michelin Guide standards, but they're darn good, and reasonable. And if you have one of those kids who must eat pizza every meal, they give you good standard and build-your own options. My wife and I stayed across the hwy. at Harbick's for the night; a little sleuthing brought Takoda's to our attention. Made the short jaunt to this cool little restaurant, and once we walked in were really surprised at how crowded it was, considering its location and time of year. Regardless, sat down and had the coolest waitress take care of us (didn't get her name); the grandmotherly type, and just plain awesome. Wife had the salad bar, that was more than adequate; I had the French Dip with grilled onions and peppers......WOW! Arguably the best cuts of tender meat, no fat or gristle at all. A pure pleasure to eat, and eat, and eat. All in all, a special restaurant in a very cool setting. Definitely on our radar when back in the area. read more

Wow. We didn't expect much with this being about the only place you can eat in a 10 mile radius, but we were very pleasantly surprised. My buffalo burger was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. They also had taco pizza on their menu, which I struggle to find anywhere, but I love it!!! Beans, delicious crust, tomatoes, onions, cheddar, blue corn tortilla chips, and lettuce piled on top. The one star review by the lady from Austin may be what she experienced but I think she must have been 50 miles away since she said there was a Bi Mart next door. It happens. This is also one of my favorite breakfast places in the immediate area. For those of us who do not have TV in the cabins this and Holiday Farm are the source of our football and nascar fixes. If you are looking for a quiet dinner you probably want the patio or away from the tv. Service is generally good. Although the area is filled with some of the nicest people in the world, the concept of service is not really understood by some of the younger people . For others it's second nature so the experience can vary. As others noted this is a great place to go after a rafting trip, bike ride on the McKenzie trail or other outdoor adventure. The locals come here directly from working outside , consider it business casual in the hinterlands. There are a variety of desserts including ice cream which goes very well on a warm summer evening. If you noticed the sign for the golf course , it's rated as one of the best public courses in the nation. read more

After a hike we came here to have some lunch and I would come back again! My friends had the Sasquash burger and fries which was messy but delicious. I had the pork sandwich with tator tots, not the best bbq sauce I have ever had but all around a good sandwich and the tots were very crisp. This is one of my favorite places to eat when I'm up the McKenzie River - which is a lot - because its absolutely gorgeous up there. I love the hiking and mountain biking. Especially the waterfall trails. Sit outside on patio when it is open (seasonal), and always consider the specials of the day. I swear that sometimes those items are 10 times better than the regular menu - which is pretty good by itself. If they are serving BBQ ribs they are always a great choice. When my food came I received a burger patty on bread (not toasted) with an onion ring (not grilled onions). Accompanied with 3 onion rings as my side. The meat had good flavor but this meal certainly did not meet my expectations. The service was ok, our server was very friendly and kept our drinks filled. The other people I was with felt the same.
