We were able to get through the summer (surprisingly). We thought we were close to affording the repairs so we began our search. Everyone wanted to charge anywhere between $75 - $200 just to look at it. Some wrapped that fee into the service and others didn't (won't point any fingers). Rustic Wrench said no strings attached, let us look at it and give you a quote. Sometimes it's a trick to get you in the door, but I got there, they looked, gave me a quote, gave me super reasonable payment options for paying, and let me decide. I left with a quote and a full breakdown of the work that needed to be done. They did not ask for a dime, they didn't shoot ninety-nine sales people at me, they didn't ask me why i didn't do it then and there. They just let me go about my day. I went home and talked it over with the wife. We had our baseline and now how to pay for this. So we put it out there. Everyone was charging about the same price, but also wanted to charge me to look it over again. I am not super confident in what these mechanics should be charging but if this one is looking at for free and giving an honest competitive fee for the work... you get it. We decided on sticking with Rustic Wrench. The price they quoted was the price we paid. The work was done to satisfaction. Here is what truly stands out for Rustic Wrench. Everyone at there front desk area is not just super polite and sociable as you would expect for someone in a "customer service" role, but they knew the work as if they did it themselves. They replaced the drum and brake shoes. The car ride home was great so I believe they solved it. I did not know that it is illegal in the United States to surcharge a debit card but found out in time for me to inform Network Automotive. They said they would charge my debit card the 2% fee. Out of caution, I used my credit card and took the hit because my card will back up any problems should they arise related to the work. I am in touch with Attorney General Kris Mayes office to investigate this. Per the Federal Law, they can add surcharge to credit, but not debit cards. Stay tuned because if I see surcharges on debit cards with any other merchant, I will turn them in.

My daughter brought a…read morecar here for an inspection and was given the all-clear, with the mechanic diagnosing a front-end noise as bad CV axles. Less than a week after buying the car, the transmission completely failed. When we brought it back, they re-examined the car and acknowledged that the noise was actually coming from the failing transmission all along. However, they refused to take responsibility, hiding behind the excuse that their inspection is "visual only" and only ensures the transmission is bolted to the car. When we tried to speak with the owner, he shouted at us and hung up the phone. It is gut-wrenching to watch a college student lose thousands of dollars because a mechanic missed an obvious issue during an inspection they were paid to do. Zero accountability, terrible work, and unprofessional management.
