top notch curries, cooked from scratch so expect to wait at least 30 minutes. Worth it however!

Judging by the many people dining there on a weeknight, I would recommend booking a table regardless of the day. Food was excellent; my husband likes spice and I do not, but our waiter gave recommendations that suited both of us. I had a mango curry (due to lactose intolerance), and my husband had the goat chili. Both were yummy! Service was spot on. Staff was quite attentive.

There is so much choice of delicious Indian dishes and also a European menu. The restaurant was clean with beautiful decor and a wonderful view over the Clyde with the ferry to Cumbrae going back and forth. The service was excellent and friendly. We've decided to go there again over Christmas! For some people access might be difficult at the restaurant is upstairs without a lift. The staff seem happy to help those who have difficulties by carrying pushchairs or bags, etc. They also do a take away service and the restaurant is open at lunchtimes as well as evenings. Sometimes you're lucky and can park in the street outside or around the corner, otherwise there is a large car park directly opposite (costing £2).

It's an old building, and obviously the stair carpet was well worn so gives the wrong idea of what to find, the staff greeted us immediately and were very courteous, not very many people inside as he had actually had new carpets fitted in the main restaurant so he explained he had to cancel the buffet for that day. We did not wait very long for a pre dinner drink or the menu. Ordered house special saffron rice and chicken korma and lamb rogan josh poppadoms etc. The meal arrived within ten minutes, and it was absolutely delicious- the meat was very nice not this tumbled chicken you tend to get now and the lamb was succulent and soft it melted in your mouth. The owner was a great hospitable guy who could not do enough for you, and his wife and the young English guy waiter were very friendly. The meal cost £28.50 for two people absolute bargain. The best Indian meal we have tasted in a long time, deserve 5stars.

As (bizarrely) they still didn't do carry-outs despite being opened for a while, I invited some friends down to sample the curries on offer. What a let down. The pakora arrived with a hefty waft of stale deep fry oil. Poppadoms were soft. Butter Chicken - the sauce had a texture like something you would spread on a sandwich. Lucknowi Murgh was bland. Chilli Garlic Chicken was horrific, no subtly - just bits of meat floating in a fiery liquid. Poor, poor, poor. This is not Indian/Punjabi cooking as it should be. To contrast, I'd been in the Edinburgh branch of Mother India Cafe the week before. There, as the very first mouthful of Chicken Karahi explodes on your tongue, you're reminded why Indian food is so fantastic. Rich, complex flavours - they know how to do it. The Masala Twist unfortunately, is just a sub-standard curry shop. Pity.

Decided to give the restaurant a go and was really pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the young girl who served us - she apologised for not being on top form that evening but was really very nice! The food was really good - freshly prepared, hot, delicious. I have read other reviews moaning about small portions - definitely not the case for us. We had a chef's platter starter and a chana poori and found that to be more than enough for two. Both curries were again, fresh, tasty and hot. The mushroom rice and garlic + coriander naan were both really good. The poppadoms were freshly cooked, crisp and warm - perfect! One negative I'd point out is the toilets - they have seen better days. They're functional but basic and could use an upgrade. Two other minor niggles - I ordered a Coke and am fairly sure I was served own-brand cola, as it didn't taste quite like the Real Thing. The other thing was the music - it was chronically bad, but that's just not my taste, really, rather than being a reason not to go there. Overall, as we live a 10 minute walk away, I'd say I'm delighted to find my new local Indian restaurant, though it still doesn't quite beat Renfrew's Heera! Will definitely return soon.
