Ate here for dinner recently, having moved to the area about a year ago. Not been in before as to be honest, the adjacent take-away puts me off as it looks a bit dingy and unwelcoming. Decided to give the restaurant a go and was really pleasantly surprised.
The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the young girl who served us - she apologised for not being on top form that evening but was really very nice! The food was really good - freshly prepared, hot, delicious. I have read other reviews moaning about small portions - definitely not the case for us. We had a chef's platter starter and a chana poori and found that to be more than enough for two.
Both curries were again, fresh, tasty and hot. The mushroom rice and garlic + coriander naan were both really good. The poppadoms were freshly cooked, crisp and warm - perfect!
One negative I'd point out is the toilets - they have seen better days. They're functional but basic and could use an upgrade. Two other minor niggles - I ordered a Coke and am fairly sure I was served own-brand cola, as it didn't taste quite like the Real Thing. The other thing was the music - it was chronically bad, but that's just not my taste, really, rather than being a reason not to go there.
Overall, as we live a 10 minute walk away, I'd say I'm delighted to find my new local Indian restaurant, though it still doesn't quite beat Renfrew's Heera! Will definitely return soon. read more
