As a self-confessed curry connoisseur and possible addict I can confidently state that Indian Villa, on the tongue-twisting Windmillhill Street in Motherwell, is one of the best Indians you will find in the Glasgow area, a bold claim considering Glasgow is home to the best curries in Britain. The waiter who served on us all night knew an astonishing amount about the items on the menu and even helped to give advice on what to get, listing the main ingredients and flavours of meals, similar meals to give us an idea of something we hadn't tried, spiciness levels, and even how much rice to get so that we didn't end up ordering way too much. Subsequently we just about managed to devour everything on the table and none of us were left wanting for anything. The restaurant is just one ambient room, with dimmed lights and elegant presentation but it isn't huge, so on a weekend it may be an idea to book in advance, especially given the quality of the food. Unfortunately Wednesday nights didn't seem to be too popular as we were one of just two sets of customers. I would, however, recommend this curryhouse to anyone and everyone regardless of how many people visit it on weeknights. Two sets of customers came in to pick up orders, and if you are in Motherwell and fancy a take-away I would urge you to ring Indian Villa instead of just heading to the nearest take-away. Price-wise it wouldn't be much more and taste-wise there is no contest. Went to our local Indian restaurant with a friend. Had my usual starter of pakora of which I am very fond. It is just spicy enough for me without being a mouth tingle. I am usually a "korma" girl but decided to try the Chicken Tikka Massala. Nothing ventured, nothing gained was my thinking but I did gain. Hotter than my usual korma but thoroughly enjoyed it. Rice and Peshwari Naan great as usual. Had a beer with a touch of lemonade, ok 2, (not driving) and they went down a treat. Enjoyed the food and look forward to another visit. read more

Back to Scotlandvto visit family I love to get some proper Indian foid that places like Sydney just don't deliver. My dad recommended this place to me. Man I wasn't disappointed. It was bang on the money and price was good also. We ordered 2 keema nans 1 normal nan 3 rice Lamb vindaloo Lamb kahari Chicken tikka meal Chicken tandoori Pompadoms Chicken tikka southern Indian chilli something Chicken pakora for about 54 pounds. The first time I went to Indian villa for a meal I wasn't disappointed. The chicken is so soft it melts in the mouth and curries I've had have been simply delicious. I've had a couple of takeaways from here which have been great too, my only complaint is the cost. For two people, two chicken curry's, rice, nan and chips was £30. Then again, you get what you pay for and I would definitely go here again when lockdown is over. read more

Such a great wee curry house that doesn't get the credit it so deserves. It is never that busy so you don't often have to book, and the waiters are more than happy to help you choose your dishes. They also give you complimentary poppadoms and dips when you arrive which is an added bonus. It is a small restaurant and the decor isn't very flashy or modern but when the food tastes this good, you don't mind overlooking that. I had the butter chicken masala which was simply outstanding. i normally like this place but recently while being at work i had to start ordering a deliverey via the online service. im not surer if its ther external online service causing ther recent problems with the orders... 1. one lamb curry came as chicken curry 2. one of the deliveries was a 4 hour wait... 4 hours?? 3. the latest oreder didnt even show up. yet im sitting with the receipt for it just no food on the tables as of yet and no way of leaving the workplace to go and get it. the times we did get our orders the food was fine. i loved my curry but therer was complaints from a fw about soggy chips. read more

Was I in the same Indian Villa as other reviewers? As a visitor to Motherwell from the West Yorkshire area (also home to the best curries in Britain) we decided to try Indian Villa based on the reviews here. What a disappointment. I have never seen so much red food dye in use in a curry! I thought they'd banned it in the UK. We did not get complementary poppodoms/dips. The starters: - onion bhaji ("traditional style") were red flat discs of tasteless flour with very little onion. - veg samosa was actually really good but the accompanying chana masala was weirdly red and tasted like it had barbecue sauce squirted in it - chicken passanda was ok - at least it was not red! The rice was fine and the naan was lovely and light and hot, but had red food colouring all over it. Why???? Adds nothing to the taste..... and looks hideous - karahi chicken tasted good, but a bit (you've guessed it) red for my liking. Distinctly average food. Expensive for what it was. read more

Good dependable food at reasonable prices. We usually get takeaway. Staff very pleasant.

This is a really nice restaurant. The food is lovely and very reasonably priced. The only low point is the deserts. They look amazing on the menu, but are really just small, frozen things. The staff are nice and the service is always really good. They also do a cheap lunch menu. read more
