This South Indian Restaurant is an excellent choice for an Indian meal in Glasgow. The storefront is a bit understated for this second-level shop. The interior was surprisingly spacious and pleasant in appearance. We were seated right away by the window. Our server attended to us quickly and did a great job during our visit. The menu offered several South Indian favorites including dosas and idlis. I started with the Rasam Soup, which had a bit of a kick. For my main, I opted for the Mysore Chicken Koli. It was terrific. It was accompanied by Thosai Thatt which included three different types of bread. My colleague had a lamb dish which he also enjoyed. I finished with a Masala Chai which was only fair. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal. The spices positively challenged my tastebuds while dining in a lovely atmosphere. The final cost was about £56. At £28 per person, it was a pretty good deal. If you are in the area, it is worth stopping if you the chance.

100% Gluten Free! My first meal in Glasgow was at @dakhinglasgow which was warming, delicious, and awakened my senses for an incredible adventure in Scotland. I began with papadums which came with spicy sauces, a lovely starter. Then to the mamsam(lamb) pepper fry, outstanding with a pretty intense heat. I wanted more! Then to mamsam nilgiri w/mimmakai annam. A beautiful dish that settled me down after a spicy dish. Impeccable service as well. One must remember that in Europe meals are not rushed. I was here for 1 1/2 hrs and it was so relaxing.

We had dinner here and yhe service was great. The place is modern and clean inside with very good variety of dishes. Also has great lunch Tahli & early dinner prix fix menu as well. We tried the fish, spinach lentil, lam dosa and the masala dosa. They were all very flavorful delicious. We will definitely try this place again next time we are in town.

Visited the Dakhin last night for the first time. Had heard their menu was really clearly marked in terms of dairy and none of their dishes contain egg. Result! It's so nice to be able to go somewhere and not ask what can be made vegan etc. We were a table of six but service was really quick. The restaurant wasn't that busy at it was only 5:30pm. Although their wine menu doesn't make wines veggie or vegan friendly, a quick Google search confirmed that my choice was suitable. They brought out a selection of dips, curried coconut and poppadoms. So delicious and the colours were beautiful. Next up was spicy potato dumplings, which were insanely tasty with a fierce kick. The side salad of peppers, cucumber and lettuce cooled things down a bit and made the dish perfect. Next up was the okra curry with assorted lentil and rice pancakes. One with coriander and coconut, one with red onion and one with tomatoes. So filling but super tasty. Brought two home to eat later. I was really full after dinner, which was great as there's no vegan-friendly desserts. Had a wee cup of mint tea instead, to counteract all the spices. It came to £30 each for a table of 6 people with 4 people drinking wine (early dinner deal for the two courses, check out their website). Very reasonable given the excellent quality of food and friendly service. Their beautiful, colourful South Indian food really stood out. Can't wait to go back!

Dakhin really is fantastic for people with dietary requirements, I can see why it's so popular. I think their menu is 100% gluten free and their vegetarian options which contain dairy are clearly marked. At £10-12 a curry - not including sides - it is a tad more expensive than I can normally justify spending on a main, but they do half price mains on Sunday afternoons (Saturdays too, I think) and on early evenings. We shared starters, two types of flavoured rice (opted not to order the plain one), curries, a MASSIVE dosa, and a selection breads. With an Irn Bru my share came to around £19, which for two courses and sides and a drink I thought was pretty good. No vegan desserts but with mains and sides so varied and delicious I can make do without a sorbet. Staff were attentive and very helpful when we were all trying to decide what to order; there were 5 of us at a vegan meetup and we all wanted to eat everything we could! I will definitely be back.

The Dakhin is one of those places I always forget about when going for a meal with the Mr - it just doesn't do it for me as a coupley kind of place. But for big groups it's ace. Every couple of months a group of around 10 of us have a catch up here - like we did last weekend! The Dakhin serves South Indian cuisine (it's sister restaurant The Dabba - at the next corner down - specialises in North Indian foods) - which I love. Each time I come here, I try something different - current favourite though, is the poondu milagai (spicy chicken, tomatoes & peppers). I've never had anything I wasn't crazy about. They do a 5pm deal which is 50% off all main courses on their full menu ( not limited like other deals of that nature). And they do a loyalty card for further discounts. The staff have always been super friendly and accommodating when we've been here - very helpful when explaining dishes etc. Their's also a really large menu - quite evenly spread between chicken, lamb and vegetarian courses (no idea if any are vegan). All in all, probably one of the best Indian restaurants in Glasgow - but it's fairly expensive, so make sure you grab a deal.

Yesterday morning I woke up with a craving for Dosa's which ended with a trip to Dakhin. It specialises in South Indian Cuisine and it has a menu with around 8 different Dosa options. First impressions were good. It's recently been renovated and was very bright with a good view out onto Merchant city. The staff were friendly and seemed very attentive. They were keen to suggest options when asked and ran through plenty of different styles of dish to help us pick. At this point it's important to mention the prices. They were exceptionally high. A veggie Dosa was the same price as you would get a steak elsewhere. The food would have to be epic to match up to costs involved. I went for a veggie Dosa for main, a pint of Belhaven and sharing three starters. Out of the dumplings, (yes dumplings), haddock and spinach starters. My favourite was the haddock and least liked was the Dumplings. (Sad times) They all looked like normal small portion bites of Indian food that you would get in other restaurants. Pretty similar to pakora. For main I had a veggie Dosa. It was huge and looked impressive, but to be honest it tasted very plain and a bit bland. Not awful but just a bit boring.... My pint of Belhaven was good though. I am afraid my impression of the place got worse as the meal went on. They did not tell us we were on pre theatre prices and dishes, it was good on the wallet, but in terms of the service we got a bit of a shock when were brought the bill without asking for it. Nobody had been to see us to offer desserts or more drinks. When the bill was put down we were told they needed the table back by 7.30. Basically we had 10 mins to vacate the premises. It does mention this on the website, but we did not know and it should have been explained when we first arrived. All in it was not an awful dinner. It was actually all fine, the main thing I would take away from it was the price. It is crazy expensive and charging for fairly average food. Go not far round the corner to Kool Ba and you will get far tastier food and at better prices. (Although of course no Dosa's)

It's clear that the focus of the restaurant is that it should still be a fun pub atmosphere that just happens to serve Indian food. So, looking in from the outside, you wouldn't know that it was an Indian restaurant. But when you walk in and smell it, you'll know. Portions were a little small so expect that you'd need to get a few things to get a full meal out of it. But they are appropriately priced for the portion size. They serve food here tapas-style and I believe you are still meant to share them so the idea is that you get a lot of dishes and eat as you drink copious amounts of beer. The one thing that made this place stand out was their service. It was amazing! During my meal, their card machines broke down and, as a result, I didn't have a way to pay for my food. The manager then comes up to me and says, "It's our fault. Don't worry about it." To be clear, this is only something I'd see in small-town America but never in a major city. So I was surprised that in Scotland's largest city, they were so trusting. (Really earning their reputation as the friendliest city in the UK). I was so touched that I promised I'd return to pay for my meal. I even kept my receipt so they'd know what to charge me. I came back the next morning, paid my bill, and, even though it's not required at all in the UK, I left a big tip as a thank you for trusting me and being so accommodating. When I come back to Glasgow, I will definitely come back.

The worker (maybe the owner?) was very friendly and offered to let us eat in (we said we could do take away, but he said we were welcome to eat there). The ambience is high end Indian food. Restaurant was clean and seemed new. Service is great. The menu has a lot of variety. Both northern and southern Indian dishes. Everything we ordered was hot and tasty. I had the spicy mussels appetizer. Never seen this preparation style on a menu before- the mussels are battered in an airy light tapioca dusting and fried so they have a bit of a crunch. Powerful blend of herbs and curry gives it a good kick! The chutney onions are sweet and the curry cassava with mustard seeds balances the spice heat, because it's mild. They have an array of dosas!!! I was really excited about this, because dosas are delicious but sometimes hard to find. The dosa was HUGE! It hung off the plate on both sides. It was crispy on the edges and spongy in the middle. Inside has mild curried potatoes. Served with coconut chutney, chili chutney and vegetarian daal. It was a meal by itself. They also have appum, which are spongy bread-like things that are very tasty. Definitely recommend! My friend had a chicken curry and garlic naan. He enjoyed. I had a taste of the chicken and the blend of spices was nice. Naan was generously buttered and had lots of garlic. He also had the vegetarian samosa which was expertly fried and piping hot upon arrival. It was served on a bed of curried chickpeas. Overall, it was a great meal. Even though it's a high end restaurant, the prices seemed reasonable for the neighborhood and the portions were huge so go with a group or be prepared for leftovers.
